I watch highlights of WWE via YouTube. I did not see the AJ/Priest stuff. I’m not obliged to like AEW. I don’t. It’s not very good. That’s got nothing to do with good faith, lol.

I think they planned on this. Kind of hoped they didn’t, because I feel he’s probably “above” the belt, to be honest. But hey, I like it when they try to make people care about it. It’s got Randy Orton with the IC Title kind of vibes. And Bobby Lashley was a good champion who got something out of it.

People talk about having the floating belts and making the US and IC Titles show specific, but why not just have the US and IC Champs float? SmackDown can be pretty tight as it is, but Theory vs. Kofi Kingston could be a fine little US Title match that works and puts him in front of a different audience. Ricochet could get some airtime on Raw and wrestle Chad Gable and beat him. Or lose it to Gable and his excellence.

World, Tag, Women’s, IC and US make a fine little set of belts to me.

I wish WWE would make a really cool weekly 1 hour review of Raw/Smackdown/PPV's/angles etc... I'm aware they've had review shows like this on the network but it would be interesting if they actually put some effort into it, maybe by bringing in a former star to anchor the show.

I'd like a way to enjoy WWE if possible and I really can't do 5 hours of WWE a week. Plus everything clipped down to an hour would probably make it seem like WWE is good again, and you might seek out full matches if you feel inclined on the network.

To this point—I was watching David Chase talking about how when he wrote the Sopranos, it was revolutionary because it was one of the first shows written to assume his audience was smart. Not like “smarks,” just people who could fill in blanks and interpret outcomes on their own, without it being spoon fed.

Vince is the exact opposite. Of course, wrestling can’t be high concept, but it can trust its audience a bit more without the constant dumbing down and exposition. 2000 wwf when they actually used storyboards and connected everything did this quite well. Hasn’t been the same since.

And yes, its good to have a break from more serious characters, but that should be reserved for people who need that kind of behavior to get over and cant pull off a serious persona. There was a fair bit I liked about Asuka in NXT. I liked Regal bringing her in as the hottest free agent. She had a good winning streak. There were some good matches. I knew that when she came up it would be different though. From that dud of a debut with Emma (not Asuka’s fault) to the differences between NXT and main roster WWE. I remember people getting excited for her being up there, and I just remember thinking “Why?”

I guess what I’m saying is: you’re both right. Asuka was a pretty good women’s pro-wrestling presentation in NXT. But I couldn’t see that being adapted to the sports entertainment land of WWE. She’s found her Doink the Clown and it works for her up there, even though it’s not for me.

Yeah, going the three shouldn’t have happened. Cena should have won then Rusev could have gone on a tear elsewhere. I don’t know if I would have put the US Title back on him. Once Cena won it, I was pretty set on Samoa Joe being the guy to come in and do it.

She has had the swagger since the debut, yeah... but it has been dialed up to the extreme. That includes the little dances, which she always did, but again... just been turned way up.

I dunno about spouting random English phrases, maybe I haven't seen enough... all I've heard her say in English is her usual "Nobody is ready for Asuka" thing.

I can't possibly have proof as to new fan interest, but after pretty much ruining her after her debut and killing a lot of interest in her.... it took this pandemic and her dialing up the swagger to get people invested in her again. The Judgement Day turn on Edge would of been great about 6-12 months from now. gees, talk about rushing things.

I know people are saying they needed another babyface because Cody is gone, but you have AJ right there. Plus, I don't know, maybe try and push someone new. Crazy concept.

I'll be shocked if they don't start jobbing the stable out in 2 months now that Edge is out of it

Now I will say if they push the 3 hard and turn this into the "Retribution" storyline that should of been, then it'll be cool. I just have no faith in how the WWE and their stop/start booking with mid card guys. Especially with Finn

I don’t buy them needing a babyface as being the reason, for what you laid out. You’ve got AJ and Finn on the face side already. You could do something else. Hell, you can “turn” Judgment Day.

I think this is more a deliberate direction for it all. Whether it’s the “shock” of Edge being ousted from his group so quickly — maybe to stress their ambition or just get him to a haircut — or because they had this cute idea that Finn was behind it from the start.

If Edge and AJ now have to work out how to fight against these guys despite not liking each other? Could be interesting. More interesting than the actual group. I guess we’ll see how it plays out.
