League sources have confirmed that Seau, who announced his retirement from the NFL just three days ago, will fly to New England on Thursday night and likely sign with the Patriots as early as Friday, according to a report by the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Patriots, desperate for help at the linebacker position because of both free agency losses and injuries, were interested in Seau last week when they heard he was thinking of retiring, the report said.

Seau, 37, is expected to play inside linebacker for the defending AFC East-champion Patriots. Starter Tedy Bruschi has missed most of the preseason with a broken wrist.

Seau played his first 13 seasons for the San Diego Chargers before moving on to Miami, where he played the last three years.

Well can't be any worse than Chad Brown/Biesel, hopefully Bruschi will be back for the opener and Seau will ride the pine.

Freddie Roach gonna FUCKKKKKKKKKKKK Seau up.

Stima, heard how he's doing? I read somewhere that he's made a complete 360 and is going to be on the final roster or whatever.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
08-18-2006, 01:56 AM
I was reading the paper the other day and it didnt seem like he was doing anything to stand out so I dunno. Patriots only get like 2 pages of coverage in the sports section right now since it is all about the Red Sox tho so I won't gage too much off that really. I was actaully gonna go the training camp today to check out one of the practices but all my friends had work. I didn't wanna go alone

I do know Roach wasn't the only free agent rookie they brought in at linebacker though, they got Corey Mays from ND too. He was pretty sick in college too so I dunno whats gonna happen. Just aslong as they cut Gramatica i'll be happy

The Outlaw

He seems like he'd fit in with the Pats style at LB. Not lightning fast or anything, but has a nose for the ball. Hard ass hitter though. Laid me out quite a bit. :(

Jesus Shuttlesworth
08-18-2006, 12:49 PM
Pats style at LB is the ability to play multiply positions. I dunno too much about him so I don't know if he can play inside/outside or maybe rush too, if he can only play one spot I don't think he'd have a very good chance of making the team.

The Outlaw
08-18-2006, 02:10 PM
He switched around yeah. He would line up at MLB one snap, and outside one. His junior year he played at DE a lot, did really well there. He was one of our best special teams players too.

Man i hope Jim Sorgi makes it out of training camp alive, because he sure is hell aint making it out with the 2nd string job this year. Shaun King for some reason has been tearing it up.

Sorgi has almost had his head ripped off about 24 times this preseason and we still have 2 games to go.

Marvin, Peyton and Reggie Wayne look in midseason form. Hopefully that lasts til the postseason .

Deion Branch to the Vikings

Jesus Shuttlesworth
08-26-2006, 12:46 AM
Yeah this Deion Branch shit is pretty, well, shitty. I realize they've only played a few preseason games, but the Patriots run game looks pretty serious. I realize Maroney is only a rookie but so was Ronnie Brown and Cadallic Williams last year. Plus picking up a RB in the first round kinda lit the fire under Dillon I think too, he came in camp looking beast and he has been beastin niggas in both preseason games. So watch them actaully have a nice running game this year without any type of a passing attack, I think Tom Brady is the best QB in the league but he can't do it himself. Rachel Caldwell as the #1 reciever really just doesn't do it for me. If they trade Branch I hope they get something inreturn, I really just hope they give Branch a 10 mil signing bonus and re-size him though.

Somebody else mentioned this on another messageboard..Branch for Porter?

08-26-2006, 08:35 PM
Porter would cost more then Branch. Wouldnt make much sense at all. Patriots need to pay some fucking players and stop being cheap skates. Its not like the guy is being asked to be paid as a top 5 receiver. First rounder for Deion Branch??? I'm sorry its not happening. They would be lucky to get a second round pick for him. Whats gunna happen is they'll pay the guy at the end of the preseason once they realise they dont have any good receivers. If they let Branch go for nothing. Egg on there face. A monster running attack with know real passing threat usually requires a really good defense. I'm not saying the Pats D is bad. But they arent exactly lights out. I would be shocked if Branch isnt playing for the Pats this season.

Napolean Harris and Troy Williamson for Deion Branch.

I don't think Williamson will ever be a top receiver in this league, but I think he will be a good enough No. 2 guy that he is worth keeping. Seriously though, the Vikings need a wide reciever. Is there any team with less in that position right now? If the season started today, Troy Williamson and Travis Taylor would probably be starting there.

road doggy dogg
08-27-2006, 04:47 AM
At least they didn't use three 1st-round picks in the past 3 years for Roy Williams and Corey Bradford to be their starters

About the whole Branch thing, last year was his first year getting 1,000 yards (well like 2 yards away so whatever) so now he wants to get paid. Understandable, but he is looking for Reggie Wayne type money (two back to back 1,000+ [2004;1,210 and 2005; 1,055] yard seasons) so I don't know. Wayne got a bonus of 13.5 mil and the Patriots had offered Branch a contract with a bonus of 8 mil. I am not totaly sure what Branch was offered on the back end of that deal. I know Wayne got 40 million but NFL players care more about the bonuses since that is the only money that is guaranteed, not saying the back end of the deal isn't important but the signing bonus is the big thing.

Right now I am looking at the wideouts and I see Troy Brown as the #1 and that is pretty pathetic looking. At the sametime though, I watched the Patriots win the Superbowl with Antowain Smith (642 rushing yards) as their #1 RB so I am not extremely worried about it. Plus the offense has been cruising this pre-season, I don't put too much into the score or anything like that during the pre-season but when you are seeing the 1's vs the 1's out on the field and the offense isn't stopped once, that looks pretty good to me.

Oh yeah, Ben Watson runs a 4.4

Jesus Shuttlesworth
08-29-2006, 03:06 PM
Yeah exactly, why should the Patriots be idiots with their money like the Redskins? I think Branch is gonna shop around and hopefully see that isn't worth as much money as he thinks he is. Or maybe it could turn out bad for the Pats and some team may overpay him, if thats the case then oh well. Patriots haven't really over payed any player since the 'Belichick Era' began and it has been working out pretty good.

Maybe they can trade Branch for AJ Hawk? :shifty:

Shaun King has always been good. He was undefeated in college then won like 8 straight with the Bucs, woulda made the superbowl if it wasn't for the Bert Emannuel rule... :viking:

Anyway, yep, Maroney is the man... Koren Robinson is an idiot... Vikings will probably overpay for Branch... but more than likely the Vikings will be trading for Todd Pinkston, because the VIkings are idiots... :(

Since Randy Lerner has taken over Aston Villa now and with the Glazer's already owning United, with all the rumours of the last few years of an NFL game being brought to England, would a Bucs/Browns game @ Wembley or even Old Trafford be inconceivable?

08-31-2006, 12:26 PM
If anyone is gonna get a home game away from their stadium it will probably be the Giants since they had 9 home games last year, I think the idea of games in other countries is almost as stupid as the All Star game deciding home field advantage though

Mr. Monday Morning
08-31-2006, 01:48 PM
Plus the Giants and Bucs are on the east coast. I can definitely see Glazer getting into it, maybe even trying to get it hosted at Old Trafford. Lerner at the moment seems to be very much taking a hands off approach though.
