If they had us take a plane journey from one city to another it could just load up the city we are going to. Like the subway trains in GTA IV.
The radio stations are apparantly what takes up the most space in GTA games because they are all running all at once all the time and everything. If they could figure a way around that, they could easily fit two cities onto the disc. It would give them twice as much work, though.

They could also do what they did in GTA IV and substitute the long bridge that separated Liberty City into 2-3 parts as maybe a long stretch of road. They would only really need to make 1 huge city that has unique areas and then break it up into 2 moderate size cities.

Basically how they did San Andreas as 3 cities but each area had something unique to it and also shared stuff with the other 2 areas so it actually felt like a new city.

I was around when this news broke last night but, I wasn't sure if I should post it, most of us have 360's anyway. Still, here is some news for Ps3 and PC owners:

We are happy to announce the much anticipated release of Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Games for Windows® - LIVE on March 30, 2010. For the first time, PlayStation 3 and Games for Windows - LIVE players will have the opportunity to experience the last two thrilling chapters of the Grand Theft Auto IV saga.

The two action packed episodes will also be available for download on the PlayStation Network and Games for Windows® LIVE on March 30, 2010. Each episode boasts the same detailed and immersive Liberty City we all know and love. Games for Windows - LIVE players can enjoy 32-player multiplayer matches and an advanced video editor, and all fans will have the chance to once again listen to the dulcet tones of Liberty City Radio.

The Lost and Damned is a dark trip through Liberty City’s seedy underbelly as outlaw biker, Johnny Klebitz, fights to keep his gang together as a rift in the gang’s leadership threatens to tear the brotherhood apart. In The Ballad of Gay Tony, players explore Liberty City’s high-end nightlife as Luis Lopez, struggling to balance the temptations of money and vice against loyalties to family and friends. Both episodes feature a slew of new vehicles and weapons, and each episode adds new activities including cage fighting, gang wars and BASE jumping.

EFLC didn't do as well as they hoped on the 360 because they took so long so everyone had moved on from GTA IV. I'm not sure how it'll be any better on Ps3 because it's obviously been even longer. I'm glad Ps3 and PC players are getting this but part of me is a little irritated because there where so many people on R*s site whining and bitching about it being 360 exclusive and now they'll think the whining and bitching worked.

I believe based on VG Chartz estimates of sales numbers, when an Xbox 360 game is ported 6 months to a year later for the PS3, the sales end up being about half than Xbox 360 sales. So Rockstar might not even make their initial profit goal they assumed with the Xbox 360 DLC if history stays correct. It was the same thinking of porting Chinatown Wars from DS to PSP but the PSP version flopped harder than Rockstar expected.

Seems a bit odd for Microsoft to pay Rockstar to make content that Sony will get for free but at the same time the initial exclusivity meant Xbox 360 took initial console and game sales away from PS3

Drakul

Yeah, half a million would usually mean "exclusive forever", right? Seems a waste of money to only have it a timed exclusive. Still, they're Microsoft, they insulate their HQ building with money so half a million isnt much to them.

After all the complaing Ps3 and PC fans have done, I bet the game sells quite badly. Like when a child cries and cries for a new toy, then it gets the new toy and doesn't want it anymore.

Wouldn't be surprised more due to the fact of how long the wait was and what is coming up for PS3 for early 2010.

One reason the Episodes disc and Ballard of Gay Tony sold less was from the long wait from the Lost and Damned (6+ months) and GTA IV (1+ year). Also doesn't help that after the 1st month or two, most people just traded the game in to play the next big game or monthly game.

Personally, I never got GTA IV since I hated the driving when I played the game over a cousin's house but bought the Episodes disc version once I heard all the fixes and changes they made.

Yeah, driving actually has a learning curve in this one. They need to simplify that in the next one. It's GTA, not Gran Turismo.

On a different note, I don't get why people are upset with how the main character controls. In the PS2 games I always thought it was way too sensitive and erratic. Love that they slowed it down, and added a cover system.

Fignuts

Wish I could put Saint's Row in GTA IV's world. Saint's Row 2 is definitely more fun because of all the cool shit you can do, but GTA IV's game world is so much more alive and detailed, that it makes SR look downright primitive.

The Mask
02-21-2010, 01:18 PM
there was a cover system in SA wasn't there? that was perfect for me. the character feels a little unresponsive to me too in IV. but you're right, it is a really beautiful game. sometimes it is a little hard to see shit though but i think that might be because i'm the only guy in the world who still plays games on a normal non-widescreen non-HD tv.

Fignuts
02-21-2010, 01:21 PM
Are you talking about the driving? Hated all the cameras for driving. The default one takes up most of the god damn screen, and it can be hard to tell whats coming up sometimes. If you're going up a hill, you have to pray to god there's not a cop on the other side, cause you won't be able to see anything til you're halfway down. Fuckers.

The Mask

yeah driving and like driving in shadowy places like bohan (i think), i can never see the corners til i've gone right past them.

They fixed some of the car handling once the DLC started to come out but mostly for the new cars and motorcycles in the DLC/Episodes disc and not the main game itself.

It annoyed me that in the DLC, crashing on your bike would not fling your dude fifty feet in the air. Sure it was annoying in game or on a mission, but it made for some of the funniest moments.

Yeah, the only time I didn't have fun in a GTA game going flying after colliding my motorcycle with another vehicle is if I ended up "BUSTED!" because of some stupid wanted level for hitting a cop or if I wasn't able to get up in time and got "WASTED!" by traffic smothering me under their wheels.

The Mask

actually i don't think it's the handling that bothers me so much but the way when you turn a corner the camera decides to not follow until you've just smashed head on into another car that you didn't see. like they were trying so hard to show off how good the graphics are they just completely fucked the feel.

So, 3.5 years after release. I finally finish this thing.

I really enjoyed the game, its got an excellent story. Amazing gameplay. An enormous city that is just overwhelming and Its fun from start to finish.

My only qualms are the lack of safe houses and the driving over and over if you fail a mission.

Otherwise 9.5/10

I agree, really solid game. I put 40 hours into it the first week I had it.

Just to explain what I meant a little better, is that I hated failing missions that start in Hove Beach and then require a drive to Alderney to continue it.

Otherwise, I very much enjoyed it.

Also, LOL at Kate dying. I never paid any attention to her anyways.

Emperor Smeat

The PC version should still be active while the console versions (or at least the Xbox 360) still has a decent amount of people on Free Roam at any given time.

Not sure about the specific modes like races or team deathmatches if they still get enough to fill a server or match.

Kalyx triaD

Pretty sure Free Roam is the place to be. The recent GTAV trailer should add some literal traffic as well.

Ratchet and Clank
Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
Ratchet and Clank: Up Your Arsenal

Bought those three for $10, really can't go wrong there.

The ones I did keep from the get go though.
