WHERE THE FUCK IS MY MORE METALLICA.
They're saving it all for Guitar Hero: Metallica.
Speaking of antiipated tracks:
http://www.rockbandmods.net/news/why-rock-band-will-never-get-all-of-whos-next-album
Speculation on why we may never see Who's Next in its entirety.
Keep in mind that The Who Sings My Generation was released as a remaster despite the lack of masters on several songs, and incomplete masters on others. So did we just rule out a master version of Who's Next? No.
But this could be what's holding things up, and it MAY mean no Who's Next. I just want to remind people that's not a given.
He just said they were coming soon. Doesn't mean they'll all be in the same pack.
In all likelihood, though...They will be.

They're saving it all for Guitar Hero: Metallica.
Actualy harmonix obtained the liscense to do 15 Metallica songs before the game even came out.
The most likely reason we havn't seen any, is that we are close to the release of their new album. It was actually confirmed quite a whie back, that one of the 15 songs will be from the new album. So they are probably waiting til the album hits to booster sales of the DLC.

Awesome news, Rock Band DLC will be playable on Rock Band 2:
MTV, EA reunite on Rock Band 2
Publishers getting the band back together exclusively for the Xbox 360 in September; arrives on other platforms later in the year.
By Brendan Sinclair, GameSpot
Posted Jun 30, 2008 9:34 am PT
There's nothing quite so rock and roll as a reunion tour, a fact underlined by today's announcement of Rock Band 2, which will see MTV Games and Harmonix once again team up with Electronic Arts to put toy instruments and games on shelves across the nation.
However, unlike last year's series debut, Rock Band 2 will be very selective about which shelves it appears on. The game will debut on the Xbox 360 in September, and after a North American "exclusive launch window," it will find its way to additional unspecified platforms by year's end.
With this year's installment of Activision's rival rocker Guitar Hero going head-to-head with the full four-piece band concept, Rock Band 2 is making a few upgrades of its own. First and foremost among the details revealed today is that the sequel will be backward compatible with the original Rock Band's downloadable content, with no need to repurchase or redownload it to the system. That makes for a sizeable potential Rock Band 2 library right off the bat, given that the Rock Band music store currently has more than 200 songs available, which have garnered some 15 million paid downloads since the game launched in November.
Furthermore, Harmonix will be offering "new and improved" drum and guitar controllers with new features and designs, "all fully compatible with original Rock Band instruments." The game's tracklist will consist entirely of master recordings, and Harmonix is also promising new online modes with a greater emphasis on the Rock Band community's social aspects.
More details about Rock Band 2 will be made public at this year's E3 Media & Business Summit.

ROCK BAND™ TAKES FANS AND GAMERS ON AN AMAZING JOURNEY
There have been several important dates in the history of The Who: May 23, 1969 – Iconic rock album Tommy is released and rockets to No. 4 on the U.S. charts. May 31, 1976 – The Who’s second concert at Charlton football ground earns them an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as the “world’s loudest rock band.” July 13, 1985 – The Who re-form to perform at Live Aid and whip Wembley Stadium into an absolute frenzy.
Now July 15, 2008 joins these dates as a dozen classic songs by The Who get new life as Rock Band™ game play. MTV Games and Harmonix announced today that even more of the legendary group's greatest hits will be added to the Rock Band catalog of downloadable content with the release of “The Best of The Who Rock Band Edition.”
“We’re really pleased to have our songs featured in Rock Band,” says Roger Daltrey, lead singer of The Who. “It allows our established fan base to interact with our music in a way that’s fresh and exciting, while also exposing our songs to new audiences.”
“I’m a fan of Rock Band,” says Who guitarist Pete Townshend. “I play the game with my son and girlfriend and love the way it brings different generations together through music. I like the idea that people of all ages will be having fun playing our songs.”
“The Who is consistently one of our most requested bands" says Paul DeGooyer, SVP Electronic Games and Music, MTV, "and it is great to be able to bring this unique compilation of their music to the Rock Band community.”
The 12 songs were selected by Harmonix and MTV Games after consulting with Townshend and Daltrey, who helped curate the track list. The downloadable tracks represent the meaty, beaty, big and bouncy best of The Who, including classics such as “Amazing Journey,”“Baba O'Riley,” “Sea & Sand,” three songs from the classic Live At Leeds album (including a special edited version of “My Generation”) and more.
Each track will be available for $1.99 per track (160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) or $19.99 (1600 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) for the entire collection of tracks.
The release of “The Best of The Who Rock Band Edition” coincides with the upcoming “VH1 Rock Honors” celebration honoring the legendary rock band. Premiering on Thursday, July 17 at 9pm on VH1, VH1 Classic and MHD, the show will celebrate The Who’s monumental legacy with a 2 hour tribute saluting the music and the lasting impact of this groundbreaking band. The influence of The Who will be felt through spoken tributes, filmed packages and performances by some of today’s premiere rock acts as well as the legends themselves. The night will feature tribute performances by Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, The Flaming Lips and Incubus as well as an electrifying grand finale performance from The Who.

I played a few tracks with Figgy today and an idea came to me from on high: the Wii version of RB should have a mic large enough house a Wiimote. Using the motion sensing controls you can then hold the Wii-Mic closer to the TV(audience), prompting the crowd to sing along. I don't know how strong the wireless nature of the Wiimote is in regards to taking vocals, so the Mic shell should have a cord. In the end it would look ugly, but that's just an idea that popped in my head.
That drumset above looks absolutely scary. [/WTF?!]
My vocal work is getting better, not great; I still find myself screwing up easy songs.

I'm still on Medium Drums. I want to step it up, but since my foot keeps spazzing on GGAHT, I'll probably continue on with Medium for a while. Feels so weird only playing some of the notes.
U-Warrior
07-12-2008, 10:03 PM
Dude, tell me about it. GGaHT on medium drums should be on the last tier, just for nonstop ridiculousness of the final stretch. I actually paused the game, and rested my leg twice during that sequence. Thats how I ended up beating it. And still I managed to only just scrape by.
Don't wanna even think what its gonna be like on hard. At least I'm freaking killing the vocals.

I might just play all the DLC on medium drums first, before I continue hard. I have 173 songs and have barely touched the dlc for drums. Maybe by the time I do them all, I'll have a breakthrough and be able to tackle hard more effeciently.
Are these music/rythem games like that for anyone else? Like, I don't get better a little bit at a time. It's like every once and a while, I pick up the guitar, and I'm twice as good as I was the day before. One day, I simply "got" how to use the orange button. There was no gradual improvement. I just "got it" in one moment.
And it was the same in learning cascades and zigzags.
Kane Knight
07-12-2008, 11:22 PM
Wow. You actually have more DLC than I do. Most people think I'm crazy to have as much as I do. I've got 139 songs counting the disc tracks.
I remember I was at an impass on GH and 2 before breaking through to Hard and Expert. I never really bothered on 3, because I just didn't like the tier that was slowing me down enough to continue. Rock Band's easier. but occsionally gives me trouble. I still have trouble with some of the solos, including Sandman on Hard, and haven't beat the Hard Tier yet, because GGAHT is insane
Now I'm sort of in the same place on drums, because it's new to me. I mean, I've wanted to be a drummer for years, but I didn't think I could do the limb separation bit, so before this, I'd never bothered. I've hit a snag right now (Again, GGAHT), and so I've mostly been playing DLC. Eventually, I'll get through it and work my way up to the hard tier, with or without more snags. The only thing that isn't that hard for me most of the time is vocals. Some songs fuck me up (Reptilia), and some songs I don't know well enough (Once again, GGAHT), but mostly, I can sight sing well enough to bullshit well enough until I can learn the songs. The one that confuses me is the OK Go song, because I should be able to trounce that. Nothing Short of Expert is a problem for me as a whole though, because I started out with a lot of experience in that field.
I doubt I'm ever gonna be an ace. My fingers aren't fast enough for flawless plays of tough songs, and my hands mimick each other, which means there's probably a finite cap on what I can do on drums. But in the meanwhile, I do improve with time.
Kane Knight
07-12-2008, 11:27 PM
Also, one thing I hate is how I'll do five tiers without a problem, then get to a song I can't sightread. This is more a flaw with me than the game, but after I've done it so effortlessly, it pisses me off to have to go into practice mode and work on a single song. Especially the Bowie one, because I nailed the other songs in that tier (Even Black Hole Sun, which wanted to kill me) without any practice or whatnot.
I understand the importance of practice. I work on body memory all the time with guitar work, and fake guitar (Or fake drums, or fake bass) isn't really much different. You have to teach your hands to respond the way you want them to, but in a video game, I like playing on the fly.
On the plus side, the drum set is really helping me learn a lot of the things that have kept me away from the drums. I think if I ever make it to expert (And I probably will), I can probably actually teach myself everything else I need to know. Which is fucking awesome.
Boomer
07-12-2008, 11:28 PM
I'm very surprised I've made it as far as I have with the drums. I've never done anything with a drum kit that wasn't horrible sounding. But even if I am on expert, I'd still be a pretty horrible drummer.
I still miss a ton of notes, but I think it has to do with the pads that I made for my drums to muffle the sound.

Well I have a lot of DLC for a couple reasons. One being music is one of my greatest passions in life. I was raised in a musicaly passionate household, so these rythem games get a lot more DLC love than any other game. And on top of that, I have one of the most broad tastes in music that you will ever see. So there isn't a lot of DLC there, in which I don't enjoy the actual song.
All that combined with the fact that I get paid well enough to drop 20 bucks on microsoft points each week, equals 173 songs on my game.

lol.. wow.. they could have picked a lot better songs for the NIN pack. Last will be pretty badass, Burn is a horrible choice for Rock Band. Just.. I don't see the point in it at all. Capital G, while being an amazing song, isn't suited for Rock Band.. but at least it's better than Burn. It will be alright for drumming and vocals.. -maybe- guitar. But they could have picked a lot better songs for Rock Band.

I have to fucking WAIL on my heads already. They're just not noisy enough to make the problem worse. I mean, I live in an apartment and I've got a guy upstairs whose TV I can hear like there's a hole in the floor. He hasn't complained about the noise yet, and if anyone was gonna, he would.
If my heads weremore senstive, though, I'd probably opt for silencers, though. That way, I could play at 3 in the morning and no-one would care.

I know this isn't exactly tremendous news, but I managed to beat Flirtin', Train, and RTTH on Hard last night, all in one sitting. Almost five starred RTTH, to boot.
Than I got like 75% on GGaHT before failing out. I know it's not on expert, but being down to one setlist song on hard feels good. I've got most of the setlist on expert done, too, but that's less satisfying than finally beating Flirtin' on hard....

So my PS3's drive lens crapped out on me. Got a new PS3 and had to re-download all my DLC, and redo all my songs on Career Mode (I'll forever hate Orange Crush, Dead on Arrival, and Don't Fear the Reaper on expert drums). =/
Also did some modding on my drums (yay, it's my 4th set since January :shifty: ). Replaced the existing pads with the drum silencers, and put sheet metal under the silencers. Now I can wail on them without fear of cracking and won't disturb anyone too much. Also made my own support struts for the green and red pads so they won't snap off. Pictures to come.
On to the DLC... Saints of Los Angeles was okay, Down at the Whisky was meh, and from what I've heard from Face Down in the Dirt, it's bleh. :n:
On the fence about SoAD, don't know about the other two.

Also this week we present a track from the Janitors, "Get Your Rock On," which is featured on the American Mall soundtrack. That song will go for 80 MSP ($0.99).

Cover charge for Rock Band 2 song transfers
By Tom Magrino, GameSpot Posted Aug 21, 2008 8:38 pm GMT One-time fee to access original tracks in Harmonix's newest rhythm game will be "less than $5"; Rush's Moving Pictures coming next week.
All signs point to another epic rock-off between Activision Blizzard's and MTV Games' rhythm games this holiday season, and one of the ways that Rock Band developer Harmonix hopes to rouse crowds in its favor is its vast library of downloadable songs. During this year's E3 Media & Business Summit, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos promised that more than 500 songs will be available for play in Rock Band 2, thanks in part to the ability to transfer Rock Band tracks to its successor.
However, that much-touted song-transfer ability won't be free. Speaking with MTV's Multiplayer gaming blog, Harmonix public-relations coordinator John Drake said that players will be charged a one-time fee that "will not exceed $5." At cause for the cover charge? According to Drake, Harmonix can't simply export the tunes from one game to another without ponying up extra licensing fees to the songs' rights holders.
Laying out how the exact process will work, Drake said that a patch will be rolled out for the original Rock Band on the day that its sequel is released. The patch creates an Export menu in the original game, and players who select it will then be prompted to input a password provided with the Rock Band 2 disc. After paying the aforementioned fee, Rock Band songs will then be transferred to the player's hard drive, where they can then be accessed in Rock Band 2.
MTV notes that Drake's comments regarding the process and accompanying fee thus far hold true only for the Xbox 360 edition of the game, which sees a timed exclusivity when it launches on September 14.
Is anyone going to be happy about paying for this export? Do you think its right to charge?
Kane Knight
08-22-2008, 02:29 PM
This isn't news, it was known from the beginning. Paying 5 bucks to get over 50 songs as DLC for the new game is an awesome deal.
D Mac

Yeah 5 bucks aint nothing. If it was like 20 or something then it would be bullshit.

Yeah 5 bucks aint nothing. If it was like 20 or something then it would be bullshit.
I'll also point out something I said on GameFGAQs this morning when people were BAWWWWWing about it.
I seriously doubt the relicensing costs will amount to as little as five bucks per user who opts to do this. I think this is nothing more than stoploss, so they don't take a bath on the cost of providing the content for RB2.

I've only played either on guitar. They're fun (My opinion), but "nothing special" comes to mind on both.
I broke down my drum set when I was cleaning, and haven't set it back up.
Anyway, I wouldn't want my money back on either, but it's not mind blowing content.

Even though I might not necessarily enjoy some of the songs I download, I do admit that they can pose a challenge. That and they are usually within packs that have those I do like (and I'm all for upping the available song count on my game).
I just hope they will add cross-platform multiplayer in RB2 (even though I know it probably won't be for a shitload of reasons). Would be nice to see which system has the better players.

By the way, this was posted I believe earlier today on the RB forums:
PS3 Patch (and PAX Pack info) <hr style="color: rgb(102, 102, 102);" size="1"> Hi Everyone:
PS3 ROCK BAND DISC EXPORT TITLE UPDATE
First and foremost, we’re happy to announce that PS3 users will soon be able to export RB1 songs to their system in advance of the launch of RB2! A PS3 patch will be coming out this Thursday, September 11th, which will allow RB1 song export, in addition to updating DLC to our RB2 standards (so you can continue to rock the newer content in RB1 if you so choose!) This title update will also patch for the use of the Guitar Hero III Les Paul PS3 Controller with RB1 on the PS3. We're excited to release this, as controller compatibility is something we've been working towards for a long time.
This Rock Band 1 title update is set to come out next Thursday. As with the Xbox 360 Title Update, you will have to update Rock Band in order to play any DLC that is released after Thursday.
PAX PACK
This leads us to the PAX pack which was released yesterday on the PlayStation Store. Due to technical issues with the submission of "Livin on the Corner of Dude and Catastrophe" by MC Frontalot, users who downloaded that track or the entire pack found that they were not able to play this content in the game. Furthermore, downloading the pack meant that all 3 songs in the pack failed to load.
We're aware of this issue and are taking multiple steps to fix it. We are resubmitting the tracks to Sony today and hope to have fixed content up on the PlayStation store as soon as possible. Users will then be able to replace the broken tracks by re-downloading this content for no additional charge. If you don’t feel like re-downloading this content and can wait a week, the title update that is launching on 9/11 will fix it automatically. We appreciate your patience.
Again, we're dedicated to bringing you the best in weekly content for any music game out there. We're transitioning from single title Rock Band DLC to a cross-title DLC system which will allow you to play your DLC in both Rock Band 1 and Rock Band 2 DLC (an industry first!), so we hope you can be patient as we figure out the little hiccups here and there.
ROCK,
HMX Community, PR, and Audio
The PAX pack I haven't gotten yet. But the GH3 controller becoming compatible (via Sony's new mandate)? FUCK YES!! About damn time SOMEONE made them do SOMETHING about it. I hope MS does something similar so the PS3 owners aren't the only ones that will be able to get this (assuming they didn't get a patch already. Don't know any news on this from MS's end).
EDIT:
Okay, saw this just now on the forums over there, too:

Hey all,
So there is a 360 title update coming out for Rock Band today, PS3 will follow and we'll let you know when we have an idea when it will drop. What's in it? A couple of things.
First of all - it updates RB1 so you will still be able to purchase DLC from the Rock Band store. Downloading this patch is required if you'd still like to do that.
Second - Lowers the threshold on gold stars making it easier/possible to gold star songs. This won't affect leaderboards as it only affects the threshold, not the score.
Third - Lately a few songs have had unhittable notes. This should be fixed now.
Lastly - It will allow you to export your songs from the RB1 disc to the hard drive for play in Rock Band 2. Official language follows for this feature-
Nominal fee of $4.99 (400 Microsoft points) required for export of Rock Band 1 soundtrack to compensate music licensors for expanded use.The following Rock Band disc tracks will not be available for export into Rock Band 2: * "Paranoid" as made famous by Black Sabbath, * “Run to the Hills” as made famous by Iron Maiden, and "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. In addition, the title update will also be released simultaneously in Europe. Tokio Hotel’s “Through the Monsoon” from the European disc release of Rock Band will not be available for export into the future European release of Rock Band 2. (* Indicates a cover song, all other songs are original master recordings.) Expanded usage rights for these particular tracks were unable to be secured from the music licensors for this feature.
That didn't say anything about MS doing anything about the controller issue yet (why hasn't MS done this yet?). I think this one about the MS patch was what Mac posted already (at least part of it, not sure if he or anyone else posted all of it yet).
I'm wondering if the new Gold Star thresholds will be retroactive or will we have to perform the songs again to receive them (since I'm right near getting it for Eminence Front, a lowering of that about 5,000 points, if that's what they're talking about, might do so). Not completely understanding what they are exactly changing (I read it, but may need some further explanation).

Do you mean using the LP on Rock Band?
360 users were able to do that since launch. I got my Rock Band game the day it came out, and didn't get a controller for five months.
Also, I know you love Sony, but they were the ones who cock blocked this patch in the first place. Harmonix announced they were working on it shortly after launch, then made an announcement that there would be no such patch, thanks to Sony.
Microsoft, on the other hand, does have certain requirements for use of their proprietary wifi setup.
So let's not be praising Sony for requiring something they initially vetoed, or asking why Microsoft hasn't done something that was already standard in the first place.

Actually, I think it was Activision that was whining like a bitch that it was EA that wasn't wanting it, and the EA whined right back that it was Activision that was blocking it. I don't know anything about Sony having anything to do with it (no one on either side was whining about Sony having anything to do with it). Of course, if you said I loved Microsoft "so much," you'd be lying. You, on the other hand, seem to disregard facts when it comes to things which make Sony look bad.
Like, for example, the decision came down to Sony to quell the patch. Activision whined, but Sony was the one who had the power and took action. Hence my statement that they cock blocked it. You know, because they did.
Or, for another example, asking why Microsoft hasn't taken steps to do something their system's version of Rock Band could do out of the box back when it launched. Sony waited a year to lift their foot on the matter.
Too bad not everything is equal. I know you like to play the conspiracy card, that people don't call me a fanboy because they like me so much (With 20 individual people whining about me CURRENTLY, you just look retarded making the comment), but when your complaints go against the facts, whereas mine don't, is it hard to see why you'd be viewed as a fanboy?

Oh, I'm pretty sure I could. I stopped screaming years ago to save my vocal chords for real singing, though. That shit will destroy your career, no matter how good you are at screaming. but you're talking about adding it to Rock Band, where it would be primarily talkie parts, so it would be just about the easiest song to sing in the game. It would have only slightly more material to sing than Debaser (Almost none, instead of none), and the rest? Meh.
Though screaming like your nuts are in a vice isn't hard. Wonder if I still have some of the demos I did....

Not stupid enough to just believe it without any further proof, because every single person that reported on it was stating that Activision was the one blocking the fucking thing (think about it: Does the 360 have FULL compatibility in which any guitar controller will completely work with any game? You seem to forget that not all controllers are working for all games, either in the way they should or at all). I'm not exactly sure where I read this but I was always under the impression that Microsoft already does this or at least ensures that additional prephirals are up to a certain standard so that the guitar controllers on the 360 would indeed have full compatibility.
I have never actually heard of an issue regarding compatibility in the games and as far as I know they all work. Anybody with an accurate source please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong though.

Do you know how to properly make paragraphs?
Anyway, your "epic fail" comment is is baseless, like most of your claims.
I tells ya, Activision has no power to block a patch. It's Sony's decision, and they are the only ones with the authority. This is even alluded to right in the proof to the "contrary" JC just linked to.
By the way, you're "hoping" that Microsoft will do something they've been doing, asking why they haven't done something they've been doing, and applauding Sony for finally coming up with a standard for their previously non-standardised Bluetooth products.
To make an analogy, that's the equivalent of Microsoft finally coming out with a non-proprietary HDD, and some Microsoft fanboy saying that they hope that Sony looks into this in the future and one day adds it to the PS3. Sony did it out of the box, but this fucktard is acting as though it's something new that Microsoft did first.
For clarification, I just indirectly called you a fucktard, because Microsoft has a standard for wireless controllers in place, and has since they first allowed companies to use it. Sony didn't. When Activision whined, they cock blocked the update, and finally, they're letting it throught. SONY had to approve it; they didn't. And you're still making comments hoping they'll catch up.
So are you lying, or just too stupid to know better?
It's not about Sony having a hand up, it's about you being wrong. You make it about me wanting to take down Sony because you yourself want that to be the case, because if that's the case, you're not pulling all this out of your ass.
Too bad you still are.

The only issue with compatability is with Guitar Hero 2 and 3.
Of course, Sony hasn't actually gone for Universal compatibility except for forward, and the bit that was left out of the PS3 version but included in the 360 version. Microsoft had already guaranteed forward compatability, too....
(But let's not look at the actual level of compatibility, because it brings up more darkpower dishonesty in the process).

http://blog.wired.com/games/2007/12/harmonix-activi.html
According to that article from IGN I posted before, the 360 compatibility is a weird issue. The GH3 controllers will work with RB, but can't activate anything (like the overdrives, I'm assuming, they only say "Rock Band special effects"). The GH2 controller works with everything, they said (this is probably because GH2 was made while Harmonix still was developing the GH franchise). However, the Rock Band controllers won't play the actual GH3 game (it'll only work the menus, but it won't play the notes). So in short, they are compatable to a point, but don't go thinking that everything will work WITH everything. There has yet to be a remedy to this situation. Of course, KK is taking this as "oh, everything is comatable and MS already made a mandate" when that's not exactly true. I'm not sure where he's getting THAT info, and I would love to know where he found this news.
As for the Sony thing, that article you posted ACTUALLY said that Sony had the patch and was willing to release it until ACTIVISION bitched and blocked the patch, and before anyone says "oh, but Sony has authority", keep in mind HOW Activision could block a patch. If Sony had all this authority, they would've had rumble in their contollers when the system first came out (instead of having to fight a lawsuit). They said it was APPROVED by Sony, which meant that they didn't have any problem with giving the patch (and thus no other reason to "cock block" the patch) to everyone until Activison said no (and they possibly had legal teams ready to go IF Sony decided to release it anyway to fight both Harmonix and Sony). Again, KK is trying to tell us something is there by saying to read "between the lines". Yet, he's whining that I thought there was some "consperiacy" in his neg repping me constantly just because his feelings were hurt.
As for my responses to his "claims", I never claimed to support any one console. You would've remembered me criticizing Sony for alot of things last year. This is typical of some of the 360 Xbots I see alot of on N4G (KK could make some REAL good friends over there, though he'd be eaten alive trying to say some of these things over there by those who "know better". Not sure why he doesn't try to "educate" THEM and why he's so scared of trying ot even GOING there, since he has so much of this "logic" he claims to have). They go and claim all this shit and claim that they aren't a fanboy (yet they are such in a rush to bring up unfounded things about how MS did this and that and this and that when they never did), but whenever YOU come on and make a well thought out, well rounded, MATURE argument that dares to say that Sony did something right or defends them in the LEAST (even OWNING a PS3 is grounds for this to them), or if you dare criticize MS in ANY way, automatically makes you a PS3 fanboy or a "Sony Droid", like that's the only argument they have, then repeat the same thing that was already proven wrong. Even if you are so fair to the other consoles (or if you don't even DEFEND Sony that much and don't like the PS3, they are known also for backstabbing their own kind), you can still get nailed by them for it. Thankfully, these are also people that the other users know about and can easily debunk them. There are also those who try to "hide" their fanboyism by saying a good thing about Sony or something like that, but you can tell that when they are few and far between.
Now, as for me, I would criticize Sony when they do something wrong (I don't think they've been compeditive enough right now, and the PSOne classics that are on the PSN Store (at least in the US version) are few and far between). Also, I own a Wii (bought it before I got the PS3), and I love it for the VC and I wanted it for Metroid Prime 3 (and I wish there would be another Metroid game on there). I do not regret that decision in buying a Wii. And he forgot that I am still wanting the 360 (Fable 2 would be good), even when I have bad feelings due to the RRoD issues and because I don't know what other games I would want (Halo right now doesn't really interest me, I don't get the appeal of it), but I would love to see the Arcade emulation that the 360 has. Thing is, like those same Bots on N4G, that is just suddenly ignored or forgotten if you say anything pro-Sony. It's like you're not allowed to.
I'd have no problem in saying that MS did something right. I have a problem when someone says something that isn't true then try to spin everything to make it mean what they want it to mean while trying to make it look like YOU'RE the one spinning everything and YOU'RE the one that is wrong (you saw how KK was going about trying to say that there was something in the article YOU posted that said that it said what he believed was true when the article even said otherwise (it's called "reaching" in order to keep his argument intact). His argument is now being attacked by another side now, even if it's only mildly, and he's getting scared, but he can't swallow his pride even once, so you're seeing first hand what happens when he can't do that.

I think I already went over this before! Do you just refuse to read any of these or do you think there's still something there that supports your failed logic.
Like, for instance, I was saying that I wasn't wanting to argue this point in this thread with you (thereby saying for you to at least begin a new thread about it if you wanted to), and you completely ignored that and started your "darkpower is a Sony Droid" line of arguments that you repeat every single time you see the supposed opening. So, yes, there is ANOTHER thread on this board in which becomes me and you arguing to no end because you can't swallow your pride even once (you do realize that it's you who's deciding to really get into these arguments because you don't like my opinions).
Even I am willing to say I'm wrong...WHEN I'm wrong (which I'm not here). And I don't mind you liking MS's system or anything, but C'MON!!

So which part of the article form a period where Harmonix was still promising universal compatibility is the part you think vindicates you and demonstrates I'm wrong? Also, the high ground card only works if you take the high ground, which you didn't. saying "I could say...." "...But I won't" is hypocritical in and of itself, introducing it while trying to pretend you aren't. Sorry.
Keep telling yourself you're not wrong, though. You're not interested in the truth, you're interested in sating your own ego.

How much GB will all those take up or have you found that out yet?

It said 1.4 or something like that. It says when you go into it.

I haven't done it yet (didn't know they would release the patch this soon (I'm assuming they did from your comment about the export stuff), figured they might release it later on in the day when they update the store, not sure why I thought that), and I've seen some of those things keep you in the dark about what it's using, so I figured I ask.

Shit, forgot I'm one of the few people on here that has it on the PS3.
I assume they're releasing the patches for both systems at the same time (why wouldn't they?).

It said you also have the option of deleting songs after the export. Which is cool, because there's a few songs I hate and will never be playing again. Like The New Pornographers - Electric Version and Ballroom Blitz. Hate those.

Love Ballroom Blitz (keep forgetting to DL that song). But Electric Version gives me some small nightmares on the drums. I might keep all of them anyway.
Is there anything else that changed from the patch (I know about the PS3 stuff that me and KK keep arguing over who blocked what and all that, but I was also hearing about RB2 standards (whatever THAT meant) and lowering the Gold Star threshold).

Don't know about the other changes, but here you go:

September 10, 2008 - Rock Band 2 goes on sale this Sunday. As you know by now, RB2 features plenty of new bells and whistles. But it also includes blasts from the past. As previously announced, owners (or renters) or the original Rock Band can export 55 of the tracks to Rock Band 2. But how exactly does this work and how do these songs display in Rock Band 2? We had a chance to scope this out in advance and it is pretty damn cool.
You can export your RB1 songs right now, without owning Rock Band 2. Just insert the disc, download the new title update (the option appears when you first boot the game) and you are halfway there. With the new update, go into the options menu. There you will find a new option, "Export Songs."
The exported songs take up 1.53 gb, so make sure you have room before you start this process. It also is going to cost you -- though not too much. You must pay a licensing fee (to satisfy the RB1 artists) of 400 MSP ($5). Not bad for the right to own 55 extra songs for Rock Band 2.
The process copies all 55 songs onto your hard drive. You can then delete individual songs you don't like from your hard drive the same way you delete save files. Each song is listed individually on your hard drive, making it fairly easy to identify and clean out any songs you don't want showing up in RB2.
With that done, the next step is getting a copy of Rock Band 2. All exported songs show up and are available from the outset in quick play. But you can also choose these songs when you create a set list in World Tour. And yes, these songs are fair game to appear on mystery set lists as well. In the track list, RB2 songs have a "2" icon, RB1 has a "1" and downloaded tracks have a down arrow icon. You can sort by origin, to make it easier to find your old faves from Rock Band 1.
Here is the really cool part. Outside of World Tour, there is a very cool Player Challenge mode. This mode could be seen as the replacement for the old single-player mode -- though it does also allow for bands to play through some challenges. This tiered mode has about 80 pre-set challenges that will task you with beating certain songs. You can run the gauntlet with the bass guitar or do all lead vocals or focus on band challenges. As you progress, you open some additional theme challenges. These are dynamic and will adapt to the content you have on your hard drive.
Have a DLC pack downloaded and a challenge to play through them all will be generated. Or maybe you have three Weezer songs (one from RB1, and two through downloads), those become a Weezer song challenge. With the RB1 export, you will also see a number of RB1-specific challenges as well. And all RB1 songs will roll into other genre challenges, such as the Infinite Metal Challenge. Though there are some set lists, there is the potential for hundreds of game-generated challenges by year's end. Exporting the RB1 tracks and downloading more content means even more challenges to spend your time on.
The RB1 tracks play perfectly in RB2 but benefit from the adjustments Harmonix has made to the gameplay and presentation. If you buy RB2, you should spend the $5 to export the RB1 tracks. It expands all areas of gameplay and gives you an enormous set list. For example, we exported the RB1 tracks and, along with DLC and the tracks on RB2 have just over 200 songs to play from the get-go. That's awesome.

After the initial 1.52 GB export, you can delete individual songs. The main shit I'll be deleting is shit like TIMAAAAAAY and Honest Bob. I haven't yet, though I did the export the first day. I love Electric version, but if I never had to play it on Rock Band again, I probably wouldn't lose any sleep.

Soo...where do you get the key for this? Looking all over the PSN store and RB and it just said to "get the key" and took me back to the menu.
Was I supposed to do something in the game after that?

Well, I don't have a clue about the PS3 version, but here's what you do in the 360 Version, so it's probably similar.
Download the update that was made available.
Under "options," there should be an "export" option.
Select it; they'll prompt you to buy the license.
Once the purchase is made, the process should start.
YMMY.

Was I supposed to do something in the game after that? For the PS3, you have to purchase the key in the PSN store (not the in-game RB music store). It's in the Rock Band Add-Ons section.
Gonna be deleting like 10 songs that I'll never have to play in RB2 (I'm looking at you Maps, Orange Crush and Outside).
