CEEEELLTSS SHOWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!
MAD EXCITED Boston is eliminated. Fucking awesome. Sucks that they didn't have KG but OH WELL we didn't have Bynum last year either.
Also, I love the Magic. Gonna be hard to hate them if they make the finals.

Playing Denver with only 1 day rest is gonna suck... still should pull it off at home though.

I'd rather be the team with one day rest than the team with a week off, throws you off a bit not playing for a week.

Dunno, some teams do well with rest, some don't...
ESPN show'd James at practice... fucking guy hit a shot from the stands, behind the hoop, past 3pt range. Was a sick shot... don't see it being to helpful in a game but was fun to watch.

Pretty glad the Celtics are out...nothing against them personally, I just genuinely dislike repeat titles except for my own team, and moreover I can't stand Marbury.
Should be some good series' coming up.

and yeah, Pierce pisses me off more every game... yes, plenty of Celtics didn't show up, but how the fuck the god damn captin can't hit fucking free throws is beyond me... I swear he's such a selfish player it's not funny... and after the speach he gave opening night and the way he's played this season... hope he finishes his career elsewhere.
lol Are you serious? Yeah his game can get annoying when shots aren't falling but when he's on he's on. His game looks mad ugly either way but wishing him to go to another team is borderline retarded, without him the Celtics wouldn't have won shit last year. As far as this series goes I'm more disappointed with Ray Allen considering he couldn't do dick for the majority of the series with J.J. Redick guarding him
The Celtics where 1 game (granted it was a 20pt game) away from the Eastern Conference finals this year, so that's pretty legit seeing how KG was out and Scals was logging major minutes. Scals was a healthy scratch for every playoff game last season (pretty sure he only even suited up for 2 of them when Tony Allen hurt his thumb) so that is pretty ridiculous he was one of the main scoring options off the bench. Only problem is none of the Big 3 are getting any younger so the window of opportunity is getting smaller and smaller for another championship. I wouldn't be surprised to see Davis go to another team, he is going to want to be a starter I bet. I'd like to see Marbury back, Mikki Moore can bounce tho. I'd wish the same on Tony Allen but they just signed him to a deal last summer for some reason.
Random thought but I'd like to see Marcin Gortat from the Magic get more minutes, I know it's hard with Howard but in his limited role he always seems to be doing work. Plus every time Howard missed a game during the season/playoff it seemed like he logged a double/double.

Does Denver really have THAT much of an advantage? Odom Gasol and Bynum gonna get dominated by Nene, K-mart and Birdman? Come on.
Also, who on that team can guard Kobe? Dahntay Jones or whatever? Come on.

Yes, they do, because the Nuggs 3 guys are fierce. The Lakers frontcourt is softer than a pillow.
Doesn't matter who guards Kobe... as long as the Nuggs keep on the other 4 guys, Kobe could average 80 a game and it wouldnt matter.

Im sorry but if Kobe even averages 40 a game, Lakers are winning.

I think it's more of how their absence affected their teams, more than comparing them as players. Not a chance the Lakers would have gotten embarrassed like they did had Bynum been in the line up. Not saying they would have won, because no one knows, but it would have been a better series for the Lakers.

Denver wont stop Kobe, and if at least one of our bigs (Bynum, Gasol, Odom) plays well, the Lakers will win. There's no way Denver will stop all three of them.

when he's on, he's on... not to be confused with a player when he's on, he's off....
He's a selfish player, he gave a speech opening night about he didn't event want to be a Celtics... but "since they made a trade and got KG and Allen"...
Yeah, the team did good considering all, and that's not my issue... just sick of Pierce and his crap and spending 1/2 his press conference talking about "injuries"... he never takes blame himself..
just mad annoying, doesn't mean i'd cut him, or trade him for nothing... but equal value... yeah, I do it..
He's not an MVP, he's not a team leader.
As for Davis... I think a lot of it will have to do with money, and with Ray, Paul and KG not getting any younger I could see him staying here.
I worry though with his age and weight issue, if he gets a big deal, he's not going to keep his weight down.

People just don't notice seem notice how awful the shots look when he is hitting them, which happens a lot. I haven't heard all of his speech from before the 1st game and I don't really care about it anyway. I did notice people calling into WEEI and bringing it when flicking through the stations so I'm not surprised you brought it up. All I know his with him the Celtics wouldn't won have the NBA Championship and he was the MVP of that series, not to mention he's a consensus All Star. If he brought up injuries a bunch of times I guess I haven't seen it, I only saw one quote where he mentioned how this year was still pretty successful considering all the injuries they had, which I would agree with. I don't really see that as making an excuse but maybe that's just my opinion. As for him being a leader I don't really know, I'm not in the locker room or anything but I would have to think he is after hearing the way guys talk about him in the media.
Just a quick question, do you think it was selfish of him to ask if he could guard Kobe in the NBA Finals last year when he wasn't initially?
And for the Lakers/Nuggets series everyone is asking "Who is gonna guard who?" but each team presenting some really interesting match ups going both ways. I think it will be a good series.

From PWInsider:
Monday Night Raw will be held in Los Angeles' Staples Center, according to Los Angeles NBC affiliate KNBC. The network is reporting that World Wrestling Entertainment will be holding a press conference later today to announce the move.
Raw's move was neccesitated by the Denver Nuggets' NBA Playoff game, which has brought a ton of publicity to the situation.
There is no word yet on how tickets to Monday's event will be handled. As of this writing, there is no listing for the event on Ticketmaster.
The 2009 edition of Summerslam will also be held at the Staples Center in August.

A Captain should ask for that, but they should also understand when they need to pass and make others better.
You're right, he is always an ugly shooter.
Also, the point about they wouldn't win last year without him is moot because they wouldn't have won without Allen and/or KG...
I'm not saying he's a horrible player, I've just been sick of his attitude for a long time... and this year it just seemed to stick out more.

Because Phil is the one giving Fish that many minutes, and not playing Farmar/Brown enough, when they do a pretty good job on Billups. Also, not playing Bynum in the 4th AT ALL?! Giving him 18 mins? really? Leaving Ariza outta the 4th for like 6-7 minutes? HORRIBLE coaching. Also WHY THE FUCK play Vujacic at ALL when he is playing insanely selfish?
There are tons of Laker fans out there very pissed with Phil, and a bunch of ESPN writers have also written articles about this. It's very frustrating. The ZenMaster is beggining to lose it unfortnunately. He's becoming senile.

What are you talking about??
I have my Hornets out of the West, the Celtics out of the East, and the Cavs because A GUY I GREW UP WITH AND THAT I USED TO SMOKE BLUNTS WITH IN HIGHSCHOOL WHO STILL LIVES IN MY HOMETOWN AND I SEE EVERY TIME HE COME BACK plays for them..
The Nugs KO'd my boys hardcore and have been playing excellent team ball with on of my favorite players of all time in Billups.. I was upset the when they made the trade for AI and new Billups would make them a contender.. From the begining of the season I wanted the Celts and the Cavs in the Eastern confrence finals, and the Hornets in the West.. Two of those three teams are out so why wouldn't I pull for a team I have personal ties with, while pulling against a team I hated for the past decade in the West??
Atleast I have some ties to the teams I pull for as in one is from my area and the other has a player that I KNOW PERSONALLY..
You are from Greece and live in Montana and are randomly are a Lakers and Rams fan, who were both dominant in the late 90's-2000's when you prolly first moved here..
As I've said for weeks, you, and people like you, are the reason I pull against the Lakers..

As for who he could pull for, The Super Sonics (I know they aren't there anymore, but they were when he "picked" the Lakers), the Timberwolves, The Trailblazers, The Jazz, Golden State, The Kings, and even the Denver Nuggets are all closer to where he lives than LA..

Exactly you were pulling for them when you knew they would be good. Why didn't you pull for them when they won 17 games the year before?
GOD DAMNIT
You have said before that you were a Pistons fan before. I would accept that, because you did not grow up with an NBA team. Now though if you have flip-flopped on that you are now far worse then SammyG.
He grew up with a team no where near him. He is allowed to pick any team he wants. He has chosen LA teams. That is fine and I will accept that. SAmmyG is only a joke when he defends Kobe Bryant on subject or for saying "Kobe Doin Work" was great or whatever words he used. That was a joke, and clearly being a mark.

He taught me to love American sports, and since he used to live in LA, he passed on the love of Los Angeles teams to me. (Obviously, Rams were in Los Angeles back then, before they moved to St.Louis)
I am not some random bandwagon fan. I am an LA fan because that's what my dad raised me on.

Hornets
Pistons
Celtics
Cavs
I started to hate the Pistons when they traded Billups, which is one reason I am pulling for the Nugs now.. That and that I hate the Lakers..

Hornets and Cavs are the only ones I watched every national game for.. It's really not the "same league" cause I'd never pull for another western team except when the Hornets aren't playing anymore..

Cavs fucked themselves on this one. Nobody could shoot. To me, Orlando has looked better in every game now. Nobody can guard Howard. Every time he got the ball in the paint tonight, he just muscled everyone or he was fouled. Cavs had tons of chances to make a run, but their terrible shooting fucked them
McLegend
05-24-2009, 11:44 PM
Their shooting was terrible, but Cavs still had a great shot to win this game. Lebron was getting good looks, and it seemed like he had a lot of balls that went in and out. They shouldn't feel all that bad about their chances here.
I think Cavs in 6, but they have to find an answer for Mickeal Pietrus. Also Mo Williams has make some shots.

He does get fouled a lot. That one obviously wasn't a foul though.
It kinda looked like a foul when it happened live just because of the weird ass angle so I can't fault the ref that much. Also it was a meaningless foul anyway, the game was already decided at that point so who cares?
Howard was up around 20 FTA himself, so many fouls called in this series - gotta be some type of playoff record.

I don't think Jones will be suspended for tripping Kobe, if an elbow to the chest isn't worth a suspension why should that be? I also don't agree with Van Gundy comparing it to Alston slapping Eddie House in the head, the trip happened in the "heat of action" (much like the elbows to the chest which has happened a few times during the playoffs) while Alston's slap was well after the play.
I still can't believe Birdman has a normal looking haircut when he doesn't spike it up, don't know why but that seems real wild to me.

Dunno Stima, Kobe was gonna blow by him and he straight up kicked his leg. It's just just a trip. Gotta watch that again. That's gotta be assessed a flagrant 2, a suspension, something.
Icess
05-26-2009, 01:31 AM
While I don't think that it will warrant a suspension, this is two blatant "flagrant fouls" that were not called on Jones. I don't want a suspension, I do want the NBA to say "while this is playoff basketball, we won't allow the game to get out of hand". The game degraded into a blacktop event in the fourth because the refs were so off their game tonight. It's not an excuse for the Lakers, as the Nuggets simply crashed boards better. A ton of those rebounds could have been "tickey takey" over the back calls that shouldn't be called, but when you add blatant "miss calls" it just seems to take away from win, regardless of the victor. Bryant didn't get many "regular" calls, Bynum got a silly flagrant towards the end that was absolutely the result of the refs prejudging a situation. Had the refs called real fouls towards the beggining of the game, tempers may have not flared on both sides, as it was a situation of "what can we get away with" in the end (mostly by the Nuggets imo)
Credit where it's due, I thought the Nuggets would win, but I wish it was "clean".
I love quotation marks

Jesus Shuttlesworth

I think Bynum's flagrant will get taken away. That foul looked bad live but when they showed the replay he was definitely going for the ball but just accidentally knocked Birdman's headband off on the way.
Everyone seems to be making a huge deal out of the trip so maybe I am wrong but I just don't see it. I think it should be a flagrant foul but I really don't see how its grounds for a suspension. It was definitely an intentional foul to stop Kobe from getting to the bucket but those happen all the time when a defender gets beat. I know its a different sport but offensive players trip blatantly trip defensive players all the time in the NFL even though its against the rules/a personal foul. If people are making a big deal out of it because Jones had a few other incidents then that would make more sense to me, I didn't see any of the 1st half/some of the 2nd.
Not a fan of Phil Jackson, he is such a little bitch in the post game press conferences all the time. I really hope he never wins another title.
Dunno Stima, Kobe was gonna blow by him and he straight up kicked his leg. It's just just a trip. Gotta watch that again. That's gotta be assessed a flagrant 2, a suspension, something.

Lebron kind of showed a lot of his youngness tonight. He missed some clutch free throws, he forced up a lot of awkward shots and he even kicked it out a couple of times when he had good looks.
Williams and West played better tonight, but still, not good enough. Most of the CAVS points were in the paint and that should not be there game. The Magic have some tremendous shooters and good bench presence.

Same here...the past few years I've been pretty close to abandoning the NBA and haven't had a rooting interest in any team in particular. Larry Harris killed any love I had for the Bucks growing up, and I've taken a passing interest in the Knicks since I go to school on Long Island and they're always on so I try to catch a few games.
This postseason's been great...one of the craziest series I've ever seen in Chicago/Boston, Orlando making the leap from "good by Eastern Conference standards" to legit title contenders, the heavily favored Lakers having to fight through every series they've played in, Carmelo Anthony finally realizing that potential, LeBron's buzzer beater, etc. Best postseason I can remember since like 1998 when the Bulls and Pacers had that crazy seven game series in the East Finals.
I still don't have a real favorite team, but this has been incredible to watch as a fan of the game. First time in years that the NBA playoffs have rivaled the excitement of the NCAA tournament for me.

So everyone here suckin the Nugget cock. awesome.
Anyway. Thank god for Sasha hitting that three.. gives us SOME momentum
While I can applaud you for being a true fan, I also have to admonish you for being such a drama queen. Good win for the Lake show nonetheless.

Not to mention the Cavs will still be set up better to win an NBA title than the Knicks or Nets in 2011, unless the Knicks find a way to set up their cap situation in order to land both LeBron and Bosh in the same summer or something.
For the last two years, the Knicks have been setting themselves up to get two of the free agents coming. They hired D'Antoni, Got that huge albatross of Marbury's salary off their books, dumped Randolph's contract, and pretty much have their Bench starting for them now. Lebron and Bosh/Stoudemire/Wade/ or whoever else is a free agent in 2011 will be major.

yea, it's been the story for a while that the Knicks' goal has been to get James in 2010. And that would be amazing.
Last night, the Lakers did exactly what the CAVS can not seem to do. Everyone contributed. I think Kobe had like 15 shots or something. When they double up Kobe, somebody is open, and when those guys can drain thier shots, you can't stop that.
Oh and Kobe did something last night that really impressed me considering he did not take many shots in the game at this point and was wide open. During the end of the game, he was wide open for a 3, but opted to pass to ball inside to a wide open Lamar. To me, the younger Kobe does not do that. great play

Anonymous Nuggets player accuses Lakers of buying a win
May 28, 2009 · Filed Under Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Lakers, News
The Denver Post (Mark Kiszla) reports after the Lakers beat the Nuggets in Game 5: In an accusation that goes straight to the heart of the sport’s integrity, one member of the Nuggets shook his head in disgust after the game, and could not believe how cheap it was for Los Angeles to buy a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference finals. “The Lakers paid $50,000 to win that game. They got their money’s worth,” said a Denver player, not wanting to be identified for fear of retribution from the league. Was the outcome rigged? I refuse to believe it was. The 16 field-goal attempts the Nuggets missed during the fourth quarter had much more to do with the defeat than any of the 30 personal fouls called against Denver by the referees.

The Knicks have set their cap up where they can sign 2 guys to max contracts in 2010. Which means they can sign LeBron and another superstar that year.

Watching this game got me thinking. Fuck who your favorite team is, this year's playoffs have been what made me love fucking basketball. My enthusiasm never left, but that fire I had for it as a kid had been gone. This though, this years playoffs have been fucking drama. Tight games, and teams just playing it all out there. Awesome.
yea, I know. something about these playoffs, even before Chicago/Boston really drew me in. Tell you what, TNT did a fantastic job with thier 40 Nights Marketing commercials. That definately hooked me. but there's been so much drama throughout this whole thing.
Yeah, I think TNT def has the best coverage

WE WERE ALL WITNESSES ONE LAST TIME.
k, Orlando wins next game. Please.
Honestly, I think LA matches up better with Cleveland. Orlando causes us problems. but if Orlando makes it..... Home court Advantage goes to LA

I wish he would go to the basket a little bit more. He loves to take that step back jumper, which was pretty on late last night. But every time he goes to the basket, he gets a call.
Williams was finally on last night. thank god. yea, I knew that lead would evaoprate by the 2nd half.
I want the Cavs to win. I have to admit, I am a Lebron fan. I really never like star players, unless they are on my teams, but Lebron is awesome.

They are fucking retards. God damn fucking nuggets. I was unable to watch tonight, but they lost this series fr themselves in game 3 and 5, when they started turning the ball over like crazy in the 4th, and blowing leads. Awful. So pissed at them.

Lebron would score 100 points before he goes out like that. My money is down. Sammy that Retards pic is fucking classic.
The best part of the Denver vs LA series was when Smith hit that 3 at the end of the 3rd quarter and punked Sasha out.

LA matches up a lot better with the CAVS. CAVS have a terrible inside presence (well not terrible, but pretty bad against bigger teams) and the Lakers have a good inside presence.

I want the CAVS to win, but I don't want to Lakers to win and I don't see the Cavs beaitng LA. Orlando has a better chance imo
