Forgot who it was on Around The Horn yesterday that gave the best solution to the Jets-Giants problem. He suggested the 1st game in the new stadium should have been Jets vs Giants since it would solve the problem of who gets to play there 1st since they would both be playing at the same time.

Only reason the old stadium never had this issue was because the Giants are older than the Jets by a good 40+ years in the NFL which explains why the stadium was named Giants stadium. Only fair to have Jets close the stadium since Giants opened the old stadium (even though no such thing as 2 NY/NJ teams in the 1920s).

Yeah, I kind of figured that they would make a scheduling exemption and put the Jets versus the Giants for the opening of the new stadium. Kind of defies common sense.

Meh, I don't see why you should make a scheduling exemption just because of a new stadium. It's going the most sensible route, a flip of a coin. Can't get much fairer than that.

Exactly.

It will fuck up the two East Divisions schedules or else they lose the "division plays the same people" aspect

I don't think New York's state government contributes anything to the teams. I may be wrong. I think most of the state's budget is allocated near the city, second Albany, and then everywhere else. The fucking state is in such a hole because of shitty state government in the first place.

I'm pretty sure two of the games each year are based on records or something like that. I don't think it would have been too hard to schedule. Either way I don't really care. In 20 years, is anyone going to care who had the first game in the new stadium? They shouldn't. Should Goodell have had both parties meet to discuss the plans? Maybe. Ultimately I don't think it is a big deal.

what about his play says that he would have talent at any other position in the nfl? I dont get it when people say that. I mean I personally think he could be a good qb given the time to develop, but to say he would be a great part at any offense at a spot other than qb is stupid. What spot? Reciever? Running back? No hes too slow. Wing back? common.

And whoever says hed be a great linebacker is stupid to me because why would anyone think that when hes never played a down at defense.

I am with you Reav. Tebow is Just another great college system player made better by playing on the most talented team in the country.

I also hate people who "think his intangibles are worth it"

The guy is a Bible Beater who takes accountability.

yea totally but that doesnt change the fact that what hes shown thus far isnt as promising as the normal sociopathic amazing athlete. However he does work extremely hard so im sure he can turn into a decent qb, but i just cant see him playing any other position with success.

Plenty of players have had great careers and have been winners in college, doesn't always translate to success in the NFL. There's no denying he's done things the right way but having the "it" factor isn't just limited to Tim Tebow.

I do think he could be a decent short yardage back if he isn't playing QB. But a decent short yardage back is a late round draft pick at best, not a 2nd rounder. Michael Robinson from Penn State who was a similar QB in college has made that move recently. I don't think he is gonna go that route though, he is gonna be drafted as a QB.

The scary thing is the Bills are fucking ALLL OVER Tebws cock.

They want him bad.

Sucks.

Earlier commentsasise (they were a little harsh) The guy is an all time gamer, and has gotten by in COLLEGE as a HIGH MOTOR type. he really isnt that gifted as a player physically or mentally (comparative) but gets by on guts and hard work

That wont float in the NFL.

he has played QB all his life. He would be Matt Jons as a different position.

I think Bills fans might be able to sleep easy and not worry about Tebow running the show. With Seattle landing Whitehurst in that deal you would think there going to shift the focus to either O line or possibly Spiller at there pick. So the only thing possible standing in front of Claussen being the new Buffalo savior are the Browns, and I question if they would take another ND QB.

Well Matt Jones played some WR in college and was a completely different athlete. Matt Jones probably could have been a decent receiver if he didn't love the nose candy.

I mean I don't think Jason White ever even broke camp with a NFL team and he had quite the college career at Oklahoma. It's gonna be tough for Tebow.

Jason White also didn't have any knees coming out of college. He was in his mid-20s when he finally used all of his eligibility. I agree with you that Tebow will not be anything special in the NFL.

If a team kicks a field goal in overtime the other team will get a chance on offense. If a team scores a touchdown in overtime, the game is over. I interpret it to work that if the second team ties with a field goal, the first overtime quarter continues until someone scores a touchdown. If after the first overtime the teams are still tied, they go to a second overtime quarter which is played under the old sudden death rules.

Seems rather silly. The story cites the increased accuracy of field goal kickers, and the change from the kickoff position being the 30 yard line, as opposed to the 35 yard line pre-1994, giving teams better field position in overtime.

I don't really know what I think about it yet. I suppose if it's applied and comes off being retarded they will just revert back to the original overtime format. They plan on discussing implementing this policy for the regular season during the owner's meetings in May.
I don't understand why they just adopt the college overtime rules, but change the yard line in which you start. In college, it is the opponents 25, but I think in the NFL they could start from their own 20.

I don't really like college overtime. In essence, it removes aspects of the game that are integral to it.

They should just have kept OT the way it is.

Anyways, after thinking about it, if they're going to make this change they should have done it like this:

Whether team A scores a field goal or touchdown, they must kick off to team B who then has a chance to match the score. If team B matches team A's score from their initial drive, the game then goes to sudden death rules.

I don't understand why they're limiting the chance at offense to a field goal. Just go all or nothing. I think the biggest detraction from the overtime rules are that one team may not get a chance at offense and that the game is decided on the flip of a coin (which I personally think is a bullshit excuse to lose a game.) Make it all or nothing with the point scoring (not just a field goal, include touchdowns) and you eliminate the biggest criticism, at least in my opinion.

Pretty sure their reasoning is that, if you can't stop them from scoring a TD, you really have no business getting the win.

Except that removes an important part of the game, the kickoff and return. That's what I don't like about college OT is that the points are pretty much already a given, hardly have to do anything to earn them. This way yeah, both teams are almost guaranteed a shot, but it's your teams ability that decides just how easy those points are to get.

Looks like the Giants are actually going to have to put the ball in the Endzone in OT.

True, but come on, fuck losing by a field goal. If I'm gonna lose I'd rather it be because their offense played better than my defense. Not because their kicker has a strong leg. And it's getting to the point where most teams don't need very far to go to get in FG range anymore.

Maybe it's just me, but losing by a first possession FG is the shittiest way possible to end a game.

Bills let their coach make the vote, since it affected him most.

So Gailey probably voted against to make his job easier....less of a choice
