I'll have to double check, but I know that I've been downloading Pal and NTSC games, maybe all those failures were NTSC versions, I'll have to double check

I'm sure you already know, but another reminder, don't ever update your Wii with a different region game.

Actually I didn't know

I thought the back up launcher by-passed all that stuff so I could play multi format

I'm not planning on updating my Wii again anyway, hardly do online gaming and I've got all the resources here to keep me busy for a while

Doing so will brick your Wii. If you play different region games, I'd recommend using brickblocker on the ISO before burning, which will remove those updates and eliminate the chance of it happening. I only download and play NTSC games, so I don't have to worry with it.

By brick, I assume you mean totally fuck it?

Mines not currently connected to the web and I have no aspirations to, does that mean I'm amune to this happening then? Unless a disc has a software update on it (like Mario kart Wii and Zelda?) Then I need to avoid like the plague.

Do any of these new games with the motion plus need updates? I'm just safer sticking to Pal versions aint I?

So if a Wii were to brick, how would one fix that? Is it possible to?

Yep, by brick I mean it turns into a bright white expensive paperweight. I think there might be a way to unbrick it, but that's something I know zero about. (and don't really wanna go down that road)

The only thing I know of involving new games and updates, is that Resort has a problem that if you play a VC/WiiWare game off a SD card, then go to play Resort, it'll make you watch the 3 minute Motion+ video again. 4.1 fixes that problem. I don't play anything off a SD card, so I'm not worrying with the update. I just hope the update isn't on the disc and requires it to play. (I'm actually buying it).

As far as sticking with PAL, I would do it, but only because I/we are pretty novice with this kind of stuff and don't wanna fuck anything up.

Agreed

I think I might actually have already used some NTSC games un-wittingly, I'll just stick with the Pal ones. I'll stick with what I know and avoid what I don't know.

I'm sure Nintendo are thinking about ways to stop this happening. I would imagine alot of new games will require new firmware for things to work. I don't really have an interest in Sports Resort, but I'll be interested to see how it works out. I don't use my SD card for anything about saving stuff, as I don't need it for the back up loader and that's mainly what I use it for,

Thanks for the help today, been enlightening, hopefully this will help anyone else who want to do it and has quesitons
