"Keep it simple."
That's the best way to book things. The best storyline in TNA in 2010 was Kurt Angle starting at the bottom, working his way up to the top again -- wrestling his way through the best in TNA. They then added some stupid melodramatic bullshit with his job being on the line. Why? That just telegraphed Angle would win pretty much all his matches on the way up there. TNA are trying to juggle too many balls. They want their top faces to be Mr. Anderson (understandable, because he moves a lot of merchandise for TNA), Rob Van Dam (see: Mr. Anderson), Matt Morgan, The Pope and Samoa Joe. There's just so many guys floating around there that it gets congested. Take a deep breath, and realise that what originally attracted people to TNA was that things like the X-Division meant something. That is where Jeff Hardy and Rob Van Dam should be competing, in my opinion. Even Kurt Angle. The Pope and Matt Morgan are yet to win a single championship in the WWE or TNA, so TV Titles for them and they can work their way up. That leaves Mr. Anderson and Samoa Joe at the top. That is fine with me right now. Joe could even go after the TV Title for a while, so he can call himself a Grand Slam Champion. They've feuded so much in the past; but I would not be opposed to seeing Joe and Styles feud over the TV Title -- with Styles trying to keep Grand Slam glory to himself. TNA just overbooks things. I get that they want each character to be developed and have the spotlight, but so many of them are just floating around doing things for the sake of doing them. I love Stevie Richards as much as the next guy, and he is in tremendous shape; but let's leave him for house shows and as a road agent, hey? If this feud between Brother Ray and Brother Devon doesn't go over well, then perhaps cut your losses with them, and let them go to their wrestling school. Why is TNA trying to keep Mick Foley? I love the guy, but he's not really doing anything. If they got rid of Taz and replaced him with Foley, then that's something. I'd personally like to see Raven as a color commentator, though. He'd probably be cheaper, too. Just keep it simple. You don't need ghosts, old guys, people turning every week, etc. Jeff Jarrett vs. Kurt Angle at Genesis doesn't need 6 guys running in. It needs Angle to come back, make Jarrett tap, make people happy, and then Angle moves on to his next program. Easy. |
