Also I don't really see how the show ending before or after 12 should even have an impact. Are they suggesting that if the show ended 15-20 minutes earlier there wouldn't have been transit issues?

This article says NJ Transit thought the show was going to end at 10:30 for some reason... not sure why they thought that

Someone must have screwed up big time and counted the pre-show as part of Mania's 5 hour run time instead of being a separate thing.

If you start at the pre-show, Mania would have ended at 10:00PM with 30 minutes of wiggle room for an over-run.
