No. Should have been Namco and not Tekken. Bunch of generic fighters, or PAC MAN in a fighting game?

With KOF/SF4/MvC3/SF3/BlazBlue, I do not need generic fighter x/devil generic fighter x in yet another fighting game.

It sort of makes sense Namco just went with Tekken fighters since the game engine is based on Tekken.

Probably wouldn't control well if they included their Soul Calibur and other fighting game characters since those games use a different engine for gameplay.

But we can see shotos fireball trapping a bunch of circus jugglers? Now that's a massive engine clash.

Development on the game began just one or two months prior, said Ono, although they began real discussions about the project with Namco Bandai about one year back. Even prior to this, Ono said, he and Harada had talked about doing something together.

Capcom's past dealings with Namco Bandai appear to have contributed to the realization of this project. While joking that the main reason for the tie-up was that he and Harada are such good friends, Ono also pointed to Capcom's work with Namco Bandai on the Gundam arcade games.

The project began when Ono and his staff shared the idea with CEO Haruhiro Tsujimoto Tsujimoto and software development head Keiji Inafune, who said that they should all go meet Namco Bandai. They ended up having no hurdles even at the top levels.

Getting into the game itself, the site asked Ono what we can expect as far as characters go. Ono would only mention the characters who were shown in the demo session: Chun-Li, Ryu, Kazuya and Nina. However, he added that they're currently thinking about putting in the early generation characters from each franchise.

Detailing the gameplay, Ono said that the staff is thinking about making the game 2 on 2. He joked that for someone his age, Marvel vs Cacom's 3 on 3 fights is just too much.

The basics of 8-way lever and 6 button input system won't change. However, Ono said that he'd like to add something that he referred to as an "assist" feature. He said the iPhone version of SFIV has somewhat of an answer to this desire -- a feature that lets players feel that they were able to do tough moves.

Regarding a release time frame, Ono said that the target is to release the game two yeas after its announcement. He expects the next timeframe for a major announcement to be next year's Captivate (a Capcom private event held every April in America). The reason for such an early announcement at Comic-Con was because Capcom wanted to do something for the fans.

Most of Ono's comments with the site concerned just the Capcom side of the tie-up. This version will likely come out first, said Ono.

Development on the two sides are being handled completely separate of one another. In fact, the staff has agreed to not share information between the teams. The Capcom side will be doing their own designs for the Namco Bandai characters, and the Namco Bandai side will be doing their own designs for the Capcom characters. They're also working separately on the gameplay side.

Ono joked that the Namco Bandai team would be none-the-wiser if the Capcom designers made Nina appear in the game naked, and likewise for Chun-Li in the other version. He also joked that they're interested in seeing which version will get rewarded a Platinum score in Famitsu.

"We'd like to challenge one-another in all areas, including sales, and get fans of both series excited," said Ono.

Our gathering of Street Fighter fans at the special occasion of ComiCon in San Diego was marred when Harada pathetically attempted to bribe everyone present with free copies of his games." said Yoshinori Ono, Street Fighter Series Producer, Capcom. "Capcom, however, is an honorable company. We don't just crash other companies' events. So I've properly notified in advance that I will participate in the TEKKEN fan event planned for GamesCom. Since it is by invitation of the TEKKEN team, I expect Harada to have various underhanded surprises planned. Knowing this, I still plan to participate in the event while overcoming any obstacles he may have planned so that I can show them what a real fighting game is all about. I'll also take with me the shaving oil I received from Hakan and the shaving razor from Vega so that I can erase that overgrown beard of Harada's, exposing that baby face to go with his childish actions. It should turn out to be a great party!

After releasing Street Fighter III: Third Strike in 1999, Ono disappeared from the fighting game scene. Even though there were many requests for a sequel from fighting game fans, and even veteran fighting game developers like myself, Ono, Ryu, Chun Li, and crew failed to show their faces for 10 years". said Katsuhiro Harada, TEKKEN Series Director at Namco Bandai Games Inc. "When they do finally show after a blank of 10 years, they don't even bother to say a few words to the Mishima Zaibatsu, who helped maintain the fighting game scene for the 10 years they were gone. Not only that, they flee Japan to have their little gathering of fanboys at ComiCon in San Diego. So I made a sudden appearance at their little event, handed out a few free games to gain favor, and delivered a challenge to Ono. Unfortunately, we weren't able to settle things at ComiCon but I'll face him again this time in Europe – at Cologne! Blows are exchanged in place of civilities – that's how it's done at the Mishima Zaibatsu.

Kayfabe, but I'm loving this.

Aside from finding out who will be in each game, a more interesting aspect of the fusion will be how characters long known to fight in a certain style will be altered as they're adopted to a different combat system. "For us in Street Fighter X Tekken, what we're doing is bringing Tekken characters into the Street Fighter world. Very fortunately for us, because Tekken characters are basically a rip of Street Fighter characters, it's really, really easy. We just basically have to bring them in and they fit as if they were meant to be there."

From our side, since the characters will be moving in real 3D, the Street Fighter characters as well will be able to sidestep fireballs. They're probably pretty quick on the front and back [movement], but when they go to sidestep they'll probably stumble a bit.

One is a fighting game of joystick precision, the other of rhythmic button tapping: Finding a way to meld those two styles is perhaps Capcom's greatest challenge with Street Fighter X Tekken.

"Ultimately what we are heading for is a Street Fighter game, so everyone will have Street Fighter-esque moves," said Capcom producer Yoshinori Ono. "The Tekken characters will be entering the Street Fighter world, so they will play like Street Fighter characters but their moves will be Tekken style."

But accomplishing that isn't as simple as creating a new set of moves for players controlling the Tekken characters. Like Street Fighter, the Tekken fighting franchise has a very distinct style of control.

I pointed that out to Ono. How will Capcom bring over the rhythmic button tapping moves of a character like Law, who can deliver blistering kicks by tapping through a series of buttons, without losing that sense of flow and timing, I asked?

Ono says he was worried about that too initially. He plays Nina, another character who relies on tapping a variety of buttons in rhythm to deliver a flurry of attacks.

"When I was going through all of these moves for Nina I thought 'I've seen this somewhere before," he said. "It boiled down to Darkstalkers. In Darkstalkers we have chain combos: Light, light, medium, medium, hard, hard. That is a Capcom version of that rhythmic input command."

Once Ono made that connection, he said, he saw the potential.

"We see great possibilities in these two mixing up," he said. "In that same sense, like how chain combos are used to play Tekken, we'll bring back Nina and Law's (If law is in the game) into Street Fighter X Tekken, incorporating that chain combo style."

While Ono is excited about the project, there's one other project he'd rather be working on: A revist of fighter Darkstalker.

I asked Ono why, since he's been talking about making a new Darkstalker for so long, did he decide to pitch a Street Fighter, Tekken game.

Ono said he didn't expect the higher-ups at Capcom and Namco to approve the game so quickly.

Tekken director Katsuhiro "Harada and I are good friends," he said. "We know each other fairly well, have meals together, eat yakitori, and talk about doing a game together. We used to have this conversation all of the time."

Ono said that once Street Fighter IV launched, and brought with it a resurgence of interest in the fighting genre, he and Harada started talking about making a game together again.

"We decided to bring it up to our management but we thought the discussion was going to go on forever," he said. "We were expecting them to have a long discussion over years and years, but as soon as they had a one high management meeting together, they just stood up and shook hands two seconds after the meeting. That was the moment the decision to make this game was made. I was a bit shocked."

Ono said he had very mixed emotions about how quickly the game was approved by both companies because he still hasn't gotten approval for his pet project: A Darkstalkers remake.

"We have a weekly meeting with (Capcom's Keiji) Inafune," he said. "I bring Darkstalkers up every week and Inafune has still yet to approve it... but I'm going to continue doing it.

Ono says he's so interested in making games like Street Fighter X Tekken and Darkstalkers not just because he's a fan of the games, but because he's a fan of the fighting game genre.

"Street Fighter X Tekken," he said, "is part of a grand scheme of making fighting games the biggest genre of all time."

(Engrish warning)

Nextgame.it: Beyond Street Fighter and Tekken, there are other series that would like to see mixed together?

Yoshinori Ono: Absolutely! A dream come true for me would be Onimusha Soul Calibur Vs. The first is an action, all right, but uses a lot of material really attributable to struggle with the traditional Japanese sword, while Soul Calibur is a bit 'more' sci-fi, so I'd love to see these two face the same arena the polar opposite styles, traditional and futuristic. Another crossover that I would really like to see come to life is a Samurai Showdown against Soul Calibur, but since the first is a series of SNK should be made in a remake of Capcom!

(This man is a genius)

Nextgame.it: And who says about a possible new episode of Capcom Vs SNK?

Yoshinori Ono: It's a crossover that I like, but for me the true meaning of the word "passion" is "surprise people." An SNK Vs Capcom 3 would exclaim to the people a "ooooooooh!" But not "or ... my ... god!", As did Street Fighter X Tekken. This is the effect we want to achieve with other future crossover, something that people do not expect.

Without the loud cheers, and with clearer video, we can pick apart what they're going for here:

- The game is largely SSF4's 'engine'.
- Tekken tropes making the jump are the new wake-up game (which fits fine with the system), preset combos (which SSF4 calls target combos), and of all things Bounding (the bounce effect).
- Ryu's Sweet Chin Music from 3s and MvC3 makes a proper return here.
- It would seem link combos are back, but to avoid accessibility issues I'm certain they will have larger windows.
- There's no real assurance that this is a tag game, the assist attacks may only be a super move thing, or perhaps partners must wait between rounds. Ono has publicly stated that he finds Marvel Vs style tagging to be too fast for his tastes.

Notes:

- Tekken characters will play very similarly to their canon versions. Right down to their core moves/combos operating with lp/mp/lk/mk (four face buttons on pad). Some commands are exactly the same!
- Tag system is based on Tekken Tag style, rather than Capcom's own Vs series. You can tag anytime and even cancel moves into tags (during juggles). You can tag while laying on the ground as well. Tags are mp+mk. Tag Cancels and Ground Recovery Tags cost a meter.
- Juggle system is very Tekken style, anytime after a hit that leaves opponents in the air is your time to beat their ass. Imagine certain 'floaty' moves from SSF4 (Chun's air-HP, Ryu's lp Shoryu on counter hit), but all the time. Tekken's Bound mechanics are here, as well as SF's wall bounce. Along with tag combos, this game will be combo happy.
- Certain moves can be charged, like Ryu's fireball. It seems to have two levels of charge with different effects: Level 1 charge turns the fireball into an EX version (for free!), Level 2 charge turns it into a supermove (also for free!). If other characters operate the same, that's pretty crazy.
- It seems each of the Tekken characters have a move that dodges projectiles. Tekken characters do not give a fuck.
- The super meter has three cells. Each cell grants an EX attack. Supermoves cost merely 2 cells, interestingly enough. I assume the whole meter goes toward those tag team ultras we seen long ago.
- Link combos from SSF4 seem to have been downscaled or outright eliminated. Chain combo style from Tekken flourishes.
- There's a universal launch move; hp+hk, for everyone to start a combo. Although there's no aerial raves like the Vs series, there's still a lot you can do with it. It's actually kinda slow and leaves you open for now.
- lp+lk is still throws.
- Many command throws will catch you in the air, so jumping back from grapplers will not work all the time. This could be another buff for Tekken players in a 2D dimension. Abel just came.
- Ryu's EX Shoryu is his Shin-Shoryu!
- Chun's Lightning Legs is now qcf+k. No mashes.

I've never played a game with Murdock in it but I like what I see. It's that long since I played Tekken, actually, I can't even remember how King plays and I'm sure it's changed since Tekken 2 or 3.

That's 2 grapplers for Tekken so I'm hoping the game has 2 for Street Fighter. 4 in total is good but I wouldn't mind a couple more although that's really unlikely. I'm thinking Hugo will be one of the SF grapplers. I can see Zangief being in TxSF and not SFxT for some reason.

Another Tekken Tag style element; when one character is KO'd... fight's over! No elimination. This makes tagging very important, moreso than a certain 'team' game out now.

I think they will go for 4plyr functionality, because that's another Tekken Tag element. Ono also said there's some surprises in store for the online suite.

Honest to god. The last fighting game I played before SF4 was...MvC2? And before that was... Clayfight 63 1/3??

Kalyx triaD
04-12-2011, 04:21 PM
You're strange. When you hate a game/genre, don't compromise yourself unless there's some incentive doing so. I played Modern Warfare 2 to lvl60 because I had points to prove. Played Blops for a bit before it dawned on me that I hate the series and I no longer have incentive to play (no points to prove). And you know there's no way in hell I can be convinced to play or watch something I have no interest in no matter how popular (CoD, Mass Effect, Fringe, High School Musical, etc).

So unless you like fighting games more than you admit, you should just slow down and play what you love. Also, I don't really agree that playing something because everybody else is playing it is a good enough reason to play something you don't like. That's self torture.

In reading the Destructoid preview, this:

"[For] the Street Fighter side of things," explains Ono about the character selection process, "what we didn't want to do is limit it to Street Fighter IV, because that's very easy, they're a very similar style."

What he says is that they have their "eyes cast on a much wider range, on the entire Street Fighter universe." We may even see some familiar, yet somewhat forgotten face: "There's certain characters that haven't appeared in a while or at all, and the people have been requesting them for years. We're going to do our best to get as many of those characters in, as well."
is what has me most intrigued.

Kalyx triaD

Poison. They say they're going to do their best to get fan requested characters in the game and Poison is the only one to be both fan requested and new as far as being a playable character goes.

Also thinking Rolento and R. Mika could actually be in this. I can see Hugo being Murdocks counter part and Mika being Kings. Mika has been asked for a lot in SSFIV and AE and she is Onos favourite, supposedly. Rolento will be in it because people keep asking for him as well.

This is supposed to be the capcom version but judging from those bullet points kalyx made, they seem to be adhering more to tekken players. Normally I wouldn't mind, as I like tekken, but I really wanted to see tekken charcters in a more sf4 playstyle.

Maybe Namco will do the same thing and make a game closer to street fighter than tekken.

I guess it doesn't matter because I will still enjoy this more than MvC 3. WHich I havn't touched since the week after it launched.

Fignuts
04-12-2011, 06:38 PM

Kalyx triaD

I have a feeling Namco won't be as bipartisan with their engine as Capcom is. SFxT is a solid mix of the games, but TxSF may be Tekken with fireballs. There's really very little Tekken needs to import from SF that they haven't already dabbled in. So short of a wildly different play style, I imagine TxSF will be more Tekken than anything. It's just a feeling.

We'll see after a while.

Animation's rough and you can tell certain assets have some ways to go, but you can get a feel for how the flow is different from SSF4. More freedom in combos but more reserved than I initially thought (this is early gameplay though). As a Sakura player I can tell you charging attacks opens up some fun tactics - so I'm glad it up for everyone. You can also see how grapplers have an easier time then in SSF4.

Character wishlist:

Street Fighter: Guy, Cammy, Geki, Ibuki, Fei, Rolento, Sodom, Alex, Elena, Yun/Yang, Remy, D. Dark

Tekken: Lee Chaolan, Marshall Law, Eddy, Hwoarang, Raven

If they go outside of the game series but remain within the games' "universes", how about a Slammasters character or 2 on Capcom's side, and maybe a Soul Calibur character for Namco?

Kalyx triaD
04-14-2011, 12:16 AM
SoulCalibur characters would be crossing timelines and I don't think they're going 'that' far with mixing things up. Slam Masters exists in the Street Fighter-Final Fight universe so that's fair game. Poison and Hugo looks like a lock. Bruce would be a great rival for Adon or Sagat. Plenty of rival opportunities actually.

Ono tease (confirms, imo) a 4plyr mode (http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/apr/18/eurogamer-believes-ono-teasing-four-player-street-fighter-x-tekken/).

There's very little reason not to do this. The pace allows for 4plyrs, and they don't have a hang up about fan friendly modes like the Vs team. Also Ono can't let Harada 1-up him on this tip with SFxT being similar to Tekken Tag.

I call Khuntry.

Drakul
04-18-2011, 04:36 PM
He's also said to watch the character trailer carefully to see a few hints at what is going to be in the game. Someone pointed out the Dino stage has them fighting on a bridge and then on the grass meaning leveled stages like in the old MK games.

If you look at the start of the trailer with Kazuya (If that's the Tekken guys name) talking Japanese to Ryu & Ken, you see the bridge hanging in the background, broken. So it looks like it'll give way after so many high impact slams and we'll fall to the ground.

Kalyx triaD
04-18-2011, 04:48 PM
The cinematic trailer hints at Devil Kazuya and Evil Ryu (I'm thinking bosses), and I wonder if the Jin name drop means he's in (thematically I don't know how he'd fit in, honestly).

It would seem that this is the Tekken 6 era with Nina working with Kazuya and one of Jin's Tekken Force soldiers being abused by Kazuya. With Abel in, we can safely conclude the SF4 era on the SF side (although the SF4 roster is more or less a generational dream match deal itself).

Lili vs Karin
Raven vs Guy

Kalyx triaD
05-12-2011, 08:17 PM
Not sure, but given the current climate I'm betting mid to high 30s. 40s is the new maximum, but the SF4 team doesn't seem the type to consider huge rosters a selling point. I can imagine 30s at first and seasonal DLC up to early 40s.

They have a shit ton of SF4 models to transfer, so they'd only have to draw and program Tekken characters and SF characters who didn't appear in SF4 (which are some SF1/Alphas, Final Fighters, and many 3rd Strikers).

I'd love to see Karin, and for some reason Maki. Other than that, like MvC3, I don't need to ask for much. I'm happy.

Cool. I guess.

Yeah there doesn't seem to be a hype train with the character reveals, I guess we got spoiled with full fledged trailers showing a character whoopin ass to his theme song. I mean this says nothing about the game, but it conveys lack of interest on Capcom's part, imo.

Ok, going to make a guess that the final roster will total 20 (not including any DLC, if there is any).

My (flimsy) reasoning is this. Here (http://www.capcom.co.jp/sfxtk/character.html) is the Japanese site for the game. It has the characters revealed so far, minus the teaser characters.
If it's anything like SSFIV and MvC3's site, all the characters should fit into that little area. I tried it in paint by copy/pasting and it fits perfectly.

I am a little worried this will be SFIV vs Tekken. I want characters from other games. Let's have R.Mika, Eagle, Sodom, Joe or anyone else that wasn't in SFIV.

I can see the idea being to make the retail cast pretty predictable and then to suddenly reveal a bunch of characters from other Street Fighters as DLC at 800 a character.

Bullet points from an E3 interview Ono did.

• Mentioning that this is a big hint, Yoshinori said that he's working on bringing back characters that didn't make the cut for Street Fighter 4 into Street Fighter X Tekken. You'll see some characters that you haven't seen in awhile.

• Ono added that if SFxT matches up with Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition's roster, which is 39 characters, that means about 15-20 fighters on each side, so SSF4's roster will have to be trimmed down a bit to keep the sides even. Yoshinori mentioned that if the roster gets beyond 40 fighters, it gets a bit difficult to memorize moves and stuff.

• Capcom is going to try and tone down the teasers in the future, because as many people have stated, they aren't really teasers trailers because they show who the fighters are.

• They don't want to cut any features they had in SF4, they want to add on to it, not take away with SFxT. This was in response to if the game has a rivals mode, but it implies an overall approach as well.

• There's a "Cross Rush" system in place which is basically a Chain Combo setup going from Light 2x/Medium/Hard to do combos.

• The game won't have a really deep story mode like there is in Mortal Kombat 9, which Ono said they knocked out of the park, but you will see a story mode like you've seen in previous Capcom fighters. Yoshinori did say they're looking at doing something like the MK9 guys did in the future though, *wink* *wink*.

• "Big surprising announcements," for SFxT at Comic-Con.

• They're trying to blend the art styles of SF4 and Tekken characters, using more saturated colors and thicker lines to try and find a balance.

• They want to see how the YouTube upload feature works for SF3 3s OE before they commit to putting it into Street Fighter X Tekken. They didn't say one way or the other whether this would be included or not.

• Capcom staff grabbed copies of Tekken 6 and have been studying them on how to add the Namco characters into SFxT. The Namco guys that have seen their characters in game have been happy with how they're being implemented.

• The "watery" graphic effect seen in the SFxT trailers will show up when doing things like Launchers and the Cross Rush, similar to the ink effect when doing a Focus Attack in SF4.

• Expect more news about the Vita version of SFxT at Comic-Con, especially about Cole from inFAMOUS.

Also, hoping we don't get both Fei Long and Law. Feel like that would be a waste.

Being a crossover game, they should have the freedom to embellish on established movesets. That would let them be able to add/change moves for further variety/tag team awesomeness

Otherwise yeah, fuck "clones".

• You can use your Launcher (Hard Punch + Hard Kick) like an Alpha Counter, but it's not a guaranteed hit — you have to pick your spots with it.

• Seth mentioned EX moves are particularly strong, with good invincibility and such.

• It was reiterated that it's going to be a really big roster, they're going to try and make it as big as possible.

• There are still a lot of graphic changes in store for the oil and water effects.

• Seth said to expect someone you're not expecting as a character that will be announced soon. This sounded like it would be after E3, although no timeline was nailed down. [Editor's note: Maybe a Comic-Con announcement in July?]

• Cole will be in both the PlayStation 3 and Vita versions of the game.

• On the matter of having a Xbox 360 exclusive character, Seth and Christian said sorry, but nothing on that front right now.

• Every character in the game has a charge up move. Guile's is his Sonic Boom, and if you hold the button for a bit, it becomes an EX attack, and if you hold it for about 3.5 seconds, it'll become a super. This is extremely easy to counter if you're a competent player, as you can be hit out of your super at any time during it's 3.5 second startup.

• Guile's Sonic Hurricane super is just a Sonic Boom motion + all 3 punches.

• Game is faster since the Captivate version was made available.

• Killian added that the game of course has a long way to go and much will be changed in the next playable version.

• The SFxT stick from Mad Catz is more like a Standard Edition stick, with the sloped front panel. It's larger than the SE, but somewhat similar in design. The parts are Sanwa though, like you expect from the Tournament Edition models.

I'm not talking gameplay, I'm talking fighting style. They are both Jeet Kun Do bruce lee clones.

Kalyx triaD

That would cut off opportunities. And in any case Street Fighter's style, and even Tekken, has a knack for having similar concepts that play very differently. Tekken has three Mishima 'shotos', two King styles, Williams sisters are derivative of one style. Asuka and Jun share the Kazama style. Eddy and Christie have the excact same movelist. Street Fighter has shotos, but we know they play differently.

Doesn't seem like something that would all of a sudden hurt this game. :-\

Weird coffee analogies apparently tell the story of why Cole is an exclusive character in the PS3/Vita versions of Street Fighter X Tekken. Yoshinori Ono said Sony does a much better job than Microsoft at grinding coffee beans and that landed them an exclusive fighter.

Ono goes on to add that an Xbox 360 exclusive character is entirely up to Microsoft and that more guest characters are likely coming on EuroGamer.

"I'll put it to you this way, I have a habit of doing all sorts of fan service-ey kind of things in my games. So if there was only one guest, that would suck. That's all I'll tell you for now."

And he hinted again about cross platform play being an option with the Vita and PS3 versions, talking about linking up the two versions of the game.

Assuming Microsoft gets involved with Capcom on an exclusive fighter for the Xbox 360, who would you like to see added? Leave a comment below with your opinion.

Source (http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2011/jun/16/more-guest-characters-likely-street-fighter-x-tekken/#comments).

You know who would be an interesting 360 exclusive? Joanna Dark (not the PDZ Joanna Dark, though).

I'm not sure what moves she could have.

Maybe she could have a cloak move, like Reptile from MK.
A charging projectile in the form of the Mauler gun.
A Chun-Li/Honda style "rapid attack" using a Reaper gun (close range only, like it's secondery function).
A knife based combo.
N-Bomb proximity mine to leave lying around.

Not sure on what her Ultra (or whatever they're calling it) would be.

Maybe that's more of an MvC3 character moveset. Actually, she's sounding a little like a reskin of Chris with a cloak move to me. I'm sure they could change it up enough that it was different.

Should very interesting seeing how Yoshi works here. His suicide attack is in, should be hilarious. Poison's looking good. Dhalsim's gay as ever. Steve Fox may be a beast.

Yoshimtsu was one of the very few characters I really enjoyed playing as in Tekken 1/2/3 when I was a kid, the other being Jack so I'm glad to see him in a SF style game.

Poison is a unique character and her moves look pretty unique as well, which I like. Anyone think they might throw in Hugo or will this be her time to shine as a single character and not as a minor side character.

Kalyx triaD
07-21-2011, 12:34 PM
Don't know about Hugo, he simply never had the backing Poison had to be included. Not over the likes of Karin and Rolento.

Drakul
07-21-2011, 12:37 PM
Well he had a bit of demand when he appeared in the background in SSFIV. People wanted him in and said they may as well add him because his models already there.

Hugo or Zangief will get in. Common sense says Zangief because all the World Warriors are clearly going to be in but they might "swerve" us and add another grappler instead.

If Poison of all characters can get in, I'm thinking R.Mika might show up. If not on release, in DLC. Ono loves her.

Yeah R.Mika should come around. Any extra Alpha character gets love from me. Love that series.

Kalyx triaD

YES

Maybe not a full dress up like 3rd Strike, but simple ports like MvC2 or the SNK fighters. Alpha 2 Gold at least. Or just release the Alpha Anthology.

Drakul
07-21-2011, 01:06 PM
I'm not sure which Alpha was which, all I know is I enjoyed the ones I played. I'd buy all and any straight ports they put on XBLA.

With Poison being in the game, I hope they can retcon the whole transgender thing and make her a biological female and blatantly state she is such.
I'm all for equality and variation in the gender, sexuality and race of videogame characters but the jokes and comments about her gender are already wearing painfully thin.

How awesome would it be if we could do the 4 fighters simultaniously fighting thing online with 4 players?

Kalyx triaD
07-22-2011, 04:07 AM
That's pretty much what I'm counting on, some kind of 4plyr mode.

Drakul
07-22-2011, 04:11 AM
If I wanted to be positive I'd say that they seem to be giving players what they want with this game in terms of characters so I'd assume they'd do the same with the modes and give us what we want.

If I wanted to be negative I could say they'll maybe leave out 4 player because it's "not possible" only for them to suddenly be able to do it in Ultra SFxT. Similar to spectator mode not being doable in MvC3 but being doable in UMvC3.

So Haggar was suplexed in the beginning of that trailer. Guessing that's a quick cameo. But if he does make it in, that's pretty much the Final Fight cast (minus Maki).

If they do manage to have the original 8 World Warriors and the big three Final Fighters, that would be cool.

But seriously, Sakura and Karin. Make it happen. Also Lei and Law on the TK side. Devil Jin would be bonus for me.

Love that they went with the tekken 3 yoshi design.

Also, do we really need to try and spot hints for Bison's presence? It's Bison. He's a given to make the roster.

Love me some Karin, but I don't think she'll make it. Way more demand for other characters who have been absent from recent outings.

Jin will obviously make it, being a main character. Dunno about Devil Jin. Odds are, he won't make it, I'd say.

On the Street Fighter side, I'd like to see Alex, R. Mika, and Juri.

Tekken, Bryan Fury, Xiaoyu, and Eddie.

If I had to guess, I'd say my tekken list has a pretty great shot at being in.

Sakura is maybe hinted at as seen in that post I made a while ago. The shot of Yoshimitsu had something in the water trails. I think I see a white headband but that's about it.

As for the FF cast, Sodom is hinted at in the CG trailer and he was in FF wasn't he? If they include 6 of the 8 possible FF cast, they may as well add Maki and Rolento as well.

I think the SF roster will be the SFII cast and the FF cast to bring it to 20 and maybe one or two from the Alpha series and SFIII and IV to bring it to 25.
Sakura and R.Mika for Alpha and Alex and Dudley (Or Ibuki as she's in the background of a stage) for SFIII maybe. Juri or Seth of SFIV.

So Tekken would need the same amount bringing the games roster to about 50 characters.

Fignuts
07-22-2011, 11:47 AM
Did they say we are getting that many? I thought I read somewhere that we are getting like 30-something characters.

The more characters, the harder it is to balance.(Hi, MvC2!)

Drakul
07-22-2011, 11:53 AM
I didn't read a number anywhere, I'm just assuming.

All the SFII cast will likely make it in, that's 12 right there. We have 4 FF guys in, maybe 6 if Haggar and Sodom are in. That leaves 2 in Rolento and Maki and it would be pointless to leave out those 2 when you have the other 6 in the game and when Rolento has been wanted as much as Hugo since SSFIV. That would take us to 20.

Sakura is possibley hinted at which would be 21 characters and an unusual number. She's neither FF or SFII. So I thought they might have a couple representatives from Alpha, SFII and SFIV to bring it up to "neat" 25 for Capcom.

Tekken gets 25 as well and the roster matches UMvC3 in terms of size.

Edit: Just realised the Sakura hint is with Yoshimitsu, a Tekken character. It can't be her because SF characters are in the trails of other SF characters.
I think my logic may have hit a bump in the road.

Fignuts
07-22-2011, 11:57 AM
That would be awesome, but I'm not getting my hopes up that Capcom wants a "neat" number, or that they will put in all the FF guys just cause. Still going to count on 40 at most.
