I don't know what that even means, all I'm saying is you guys are starting to sound like ESPN with this whole "arguing over completely mundane topics and trying to manufacture conversation out of them"
Please, get into a lengthy debate over that "miscalled penalty" that the refs made that Joe Buck would not SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT FOR 90 MINUTES, because that really is a fascinating subplot.

I still think Seattle is a better team than Green Bay. NFC South plays the NFC West this year too. Going to be some great games.

Yeah same, watched the Falcons game then switched over. Will probably just mute the night game and listen to some music or something.
Watching a few Stephen Jackson post-game vids, and I fucking love this guy. So humble, and knows he has room to improve despite playing pretty well today.

I like the Giants. :) I "root" for them to win usually but don't get that excited and don't feel bummed out when they lose or anything. Don't like when people "detest" the other NY team
I liked them both when I was little cause we always get both teams' games, til I was like 17 or something I think then "picked" the Jets cause I guess I liked them a lil better and you are only supposed to like 1 team

I think tomorrow I might set a world record for fastest Survival Pool selections. This week I barely squeaked by with the Colts in one entry and the Patriots in the other. Next week I'll use my other Patriots pick and in the other I'll probably just go with Denver. Feel dirty about possibly benefiting financially from a Giants loss, but it's the most enticing game on the schedule for next week short of Pats/Jets. If the Giants' pass rush plays like they did for 3 quarters tonight, Peyton may have 7 TD by halftime.
MAYBE Texans over the Titans. We'll see.

Cowboys defense looked good and the offense was just good enough to win. Didn't make the costly mistakes. Feels like week one last year. They probably shouldn't get too cocky next week facing the Chiefs.
Also, the Giants desperately need a running back. Good lord...

I have no doubt the Giants will be signing somebody this week. Dwyer, Beanie Wells, Hightower - nobody that will set the world on fire but who can hopefully block and, you know, hold on to the damn ball.
All things considered I think the loss to Dallas week 1 last year felt worse since it was at home and all that jazz. Dallas was bound to get a home win against the Giants at some point.

I hate to discount plays because it's a very ingenuous way of looking at a game, but damn. If you take away the 78 yard TD run by Peterson:
Ponder
18-28 for 236 yards, 1TD 3INT
Peterson
17 carries for 15 yards and a TD (4-18-1 in the passing game as well)
Jerome Simpson, who I don't think ANYBODY was gameplanning for, had the big receiving game (7-140) but otherwise nobody on the Vikings did a ton of damage. Next best receiver was Jennings with 3-33.
People have been touting the Vikings as one of the "risers" in the NFC so to get an impressive week 1 victory over them is mad good feeling. Especially after going 0-6 in the division last year. Chicago doesn't look terribly impressive and GB's defense is suspect. Obviously not "counting them out" but it's not like they're insurmountable foes or anything. If Lions can even go a solid 3-3 in the division this year, combined with the 4th-place SoS games (@ARI and TB), maybe my 6-10 prediction was a bit conservative. I still think absolute best-case scenario is 9-7 though, but again I'd love to be wrong.

ESPN had this wonderful graphic up on sportscenter after the SF vs GB highlight showing that only a handful of QB's have ever thrown for 400 yds and 3 touchdowns in the season opener. Kaepernick is up at the top of the list now. What I find funny is that they honestly sat there and compared his game against Peyton Mannings because they both made that list this week....it's already funny that they are comparing a 7 TD performance with a 3 TD performance, but whatever....oh wait, now Eli makes the list too? With 4 TD and 3 INT? ROFL guess his performance matches up with his brothers too. Way to go ESPN.

Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is facing discipline from the NFL for diving at the knees of an opposing player during Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, a league official told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
The controversial play occurred during an interception return by Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy, who scored an apparent touchdown to give Detroit the lead. But the play was nullified because Suh was whistled for an illegal low block against Vikings center John Sullivan well behind the play.
The New York Giants will work out free-agent running backs Brandon Jacobs and Willis McGahee on Tuesday, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
The Giants had planned to work out McGahee since Friday, according to the source.
Former New York Jets running back Joe McKnight also will work out for the Giants on Tuesday, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Von Miller facing the possibility of more games being added to his current suspension because of his recent arrest.
If Roger Goodell has grown weary of Von Miller's repeated legal trouble, the NFL commissioner has the authority to add to the Denver Broncos linebacker's current six-game suspension.
Miller is one game into his suspension for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, and on Wednesday team officials were privately wrestling with the revelation that Miller was cited last week for driving without a license and speeding.
...
Goodell has repeatedly said he would take a sterner approach with what he called "repeat offenders." That Miller was cited during a suspension has certainly been noticed by league and Broncos executives.
...
Goodell also doesn't have to wait for a conviction or public admission of guilt from a player or league official to invoke the policy. To that end, the policy reads: "It is not enough simply to avoid being found guilty of a crime. Instead, as an employee of the NFL or a member club, you are held to a higher standard and expected to conduct yourself in a way that is responsible, promotes the values upon which the league is based, and is lawful."
The Broncos had no official comment Wednesday.
When it comes to the Broncos, there is already precedent for a substance-abuse suspension paired with a personal conduct suspension. Last season, linebacker D.J. Williams was suspended six games for violating the league's substance-abuse policy, and Goodell added three games for violating the personal conduct policy with multiple DUI-related arrests several years apart.

I still had the Patriots available in one of my Survivor entries...balked at using them because of all the injuries. Though they wound up winning anyway, this game would have scared the crap out of me otherwise.
Definitely taking the Eagles with one of my picks. I'm not buying into the hype just yet...but the Chargers are terrible, the Eagles are home, and it's too early in the year for people to have figured out how to defend Chip Kelly's offense. Would rather use them now before the league catches on and/or Vick gets hurt.
Not sure about the other pick though. Going back and forth between the Packers and Ravens. Both are home. Packers probably have better "future value" but the Ravens have so many people banged up against a good defense.

Well they've squeaked past the Bills and Jets. Time will tell, as they do tend to look pretty lacklustre in the first few weeks of every season and then just blow everybody away from about week 7 or 8 onwards. That offence definitely seems a lot more out of sorts than usual though, and I think that formula of "Tom Brady can make anybody look good" will run out at some point. I think Miami can shock a lot of people and take the East this year. The Jets will improve but be lucky to get 8 wins at best.

Randle fumbling right at the goal line was awful, and some of Eli's throws were inexplicably bad. It's baffling that a team with so many offensive weapons makes me audibly say "ah shit" whenever they get inside the 20 yard line. But still, a lot would have had to go right to come away with a win against that Denver team. No pass rush - no chance.
Again the good news is that the entire division looks iffy, so there's plenty of time to sort shit out. But in all honesty, both sides of the line have looked SO bad. This could finally be the year the Giants just flat out suck.
That's not me trying to be pessimistic Vito Cruz, either. The reality is this team hasn't had a losing season since 2004. Despite missing the playoffs 3 out of the last 4 years, they've still been a lot more consistent than most teams in the league - and I'll always be grateful for 2 Super Bowls in a 4 year span. But it's really hard to stay at that level for such a long time without having to take a step back and recharge every few years. Just look at the Steelers who seem like they'll be in the same boat.

It is gonna be a long season for us Steelers Fans. Yikes. Although with how weak I see the North this year they may still have a shot at division even at 0-2. Just need even a little bit of an offense. The Defense still doing it's job. If the offense could score 21 points would win almost every game. I just don't know if that offense is even capable of averaging that this year. Awful Performance the first 2 games. Ben will be knocked out by week 10 at this rate.

According to ESPN, it seems to be more the Browns didn't know how to use him in their new system and they pretty much threw in the towel for this season.
But Richardson apparently didn't fit into the plans of Cleveland's front office or new coach Rob Chudzinski's offensive system. Richardson, who rushed for 950 yards as a rookie despite playing most of last season with broken ribs, had gained just 105 yards on 31 carries this season and didn't have the breakaway speed the Browns' new regime was looking for.
"Trent's a great player and we expect him to have success in this league," Banner said. "Right now, based on how we're building this team for sustainable success, we're going to be aggressive and do what it takes to assemble a team that consistently wins."

So the Colts end up with 2 out of the top 3 picks from last year's draft and the Browns basically give up last year's 7th, 5th, 4th, and 1st round (#4 overall) picks for one 1st rounder next year that will likely be in the bottom half of the round.
Trade of the century.

To play a bit of devil's advocate here...
If there is one area that could be described as a "strength" on the Cleveland Browns, it would be their offensive line. With their line, Richardson simply wasn't getting it done. Given his draft pedigree and relative lack of success at the pro level, it could be argued that his value will never be as high as it is now (or at any point prior), so "cutting bait" on him now as opposed to getting much less of a return for a player they didn't want down the road makes sense.
Also keep in mind he was drafted in 2011, they have an entirely new front office staff top to bottom who may not have wanted a player like Richardson in their plans. It is very typically seen when a team cuts loose a QB that doesn't "fit" the system; why should a RB be any different?
RB is a position that is not terribly difficult to fill. Again, being that they have a good O-line, finding a good back to fit their blocking scheme shouldn't be terribly difficult. There are many holes on the roster that a 1st round pick definitely has more "value" than a good runningback does. Anyone who's read Lombardi on NFL.com or listened to him on the BS Report is familiar with his "blue chip player" mentality. It's possible he simply doesn't feel that Richardson is a blue chip player and he feels that the 1st round pick they received from Indy can potentially be a blue chipper at another position on their roster.
Plus, there's probably a bit of tanking for Clowney/Bridgewater involved as well. Who knows. Again, I'd give Lombardi the benefit of the doubt here.
The timing is odd though, seeing as Brian Hoyer (:| ) is starting this week and they'll need to lean heavily on the running game.

Someone in a 20 team league I'm in already had McGahee for some reason. So I picked up Bobby Rainey. Maybe they see something in him and he can come out of nowhere and produce.
