The stars do seem to be aligning for the Giants with getting to face Scott Tolzien next week instead of Aaron Rodgers. NBC has to be even happier that they bumped that game to 4:25 now.
Regardless, the game against Dallas in 2 weeks has gotta be a must win. As shit as the division is it'd be damn near impossible to get back into it having lost to Dallas twice, never mind the Eagles looking good two weeks in a row.

Well Dallas is a poorly coached team with an old fuck who hasn't understood the game of football for 10 years coordinating the defense. Plus Sean Lee needs to just retire and let the team focus on getting a guy who can stay healthy. Good God.

This season is shaping up to be a perfect Lions stomach punch. THE CHIPS ARE FALLING IN PLACE ie Cutler and Rodgers injuries, big wins over division opponents (still have Packers on Turkey Day with possibly no A-RODG [awful nickname] ) and retardedly easy 2nd-half schedule. Haven't won the division since NINETEEN NINETY THREE JESUS CHRIST and that probably won't change this year because the Lions will always fuck it up but I am going to enjoy the ride one way or another

Neither do the Pats, but Denver's lack of secondary seemed obvious to me going into the season so I fail to see why everyone seems to think the Colts exposed something. Every team has been exposed at some point this season, there are really no stand out teams and really to me there haven't been for the last couple of seasons.

Cowboys currently considering getting Reed as a possibility once the release is made official. Before the news hit, they were looking at the possibility of signing Michael Huff for the same spot.

As long as it didn't reduce the comedy that is the Dallas Cowboys, I don't mind.
I feel like the Colts needed to be humbled, but for fuck sakes, Tavon Austin was running in fucking circles. It reminded me of a colts v pats game in the early 2000's. I forget who it was and I think it was Brady's first Colts game, but someone on the Pats ran for a td, caught a long one and returned one. It was brutal.

How is Brandon Myers still a Giant? He's a tight end who isn't a great blocker who was brought over after catching a ton of passes in an otherwise shitty Raiders offense last year and now he isn't even being targeted in the passing game. What a waste.

Still the best QB for you guys since Boomer and maybe Palmer pre-knee injury. His WTF moments are eye popping but I didn't see too much shit slinging when he was tearing it up 3-4 weeks in a row.

Trust me...the shit slinging was there. I have never been sold on the guy. and while he is the best quarterback we've had since Boomer, He's still not the quarterback who's going to get us to the next level. He has show no potential for growth past what he is doing now.
That's not good enough in the top echelon of the NFL.

The majority of the close Bengal games are because Dalton Turns the ball over. His damning quality is that he cannot secure the football.
Most NFL analysts commonly admit that a quarterback is who he's gonna be after three years.

The problem is there aren't enough true "franchise" QBs around to just keep drafting, busting, and cutting all the time. At some point, player development needs to be looked at.

Most NFL analysts commonly admit that a quarterback is who he's gonna be after three years.
3 years seems about right to get an idea of how well or bad a QB will be in the league. By then the majority of QBs have already shown off their actual potential and either look more likely as a potential bust or can be molded into being a better QB/future elite.
James Steele
11-16-2013, 11:59 PM
I agree with that to an extent, but there seems to be a mentality that when a team drafts a QB now - if they don't win a Super Bowl within 5 years they are the drizzling shits and we should draft another one.

It's only his 3rd year in the league. This notion that QBs need to develop into "elite" ASAP or be thrown into the abyss is ridiculous.
Gabbert belongs in that abyss.

The problem is there aren't enough true "franchise" QBs around to just keep drafting, busting, and cutting all the time. At some point, player development needs to be looked at.
Player development is important. The bengals have a surprisingly good track record of developing outcasts into solid players.
Ultimately daltons decision-making and timidness cant be developed by a coach. He has weapons all around him, the line is solid, the defense is great, special teams is great. He is literally the weak link on our roster.

NFL considering fining both Mike Tomlin and the Steelers while also potentially taking away a draft pick as punishment for Tomlin steeping onto the field during the Ravens-Steelers game.
The NFL is expected to consider six-figure fines for Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin and the Steelers organization and also is expected to consider taking away a draft pick from the team, a source familiar with the league's thinking told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.
After Pittsburgh scored to close to 13-7 in the third quarter, Baltimore's Jacoby Jones broke free down the sideline on the ensuing kickoff but slowed up with Tomlin on the white stripe near the field of play -- with his foot on the field at one point as Jones neared his location.

NFL considering fining both Mike Tomlin and the Steelers while also potentially taking away a draft pick as punishment for Tomlin steeping onto the field during the Ravens-Steelers game.
Saw a video the other day of Joe Flacco mic'd up during the last second kickoff during the Super Bowl where he was seriously telling the rest of the team on the sideline that if the returner broke free, they should run on the field and tackle him.
Actually seemed like a good idea in that situation until I found out that there's a rule stating that if a player on the sideline interferes with a play, the referees have the option to award a touchdown.
They should have done that on Thursday because Tomlin was clearly interfering with the play. There wasn't even a flag thrown was there?
Emperor Smeat
12-01-2013, 03:33 PM
No flag was thrown. Think the refs didn't believe it was done deliberately unlike the Jets a few years ago.

Evil Vito
12-02-2013, 10:19 AM
As it is, the Giants get to stay (mildly) relevant for another week. But they'd still need the impossible to happen to win the division. They need to win out, which is going to be pretty damn hard given their schedule. Moreover, Dallas and Philadelphia can only win one more game each. One of those teams getting 9 wins eliminates the Giants. Further complicating this is that they play each other at the end of the year. So they need one team to lose their next 3 and then beat the other team (who could have won no more than 1 game) in the finale. Fun to think about but yeah, not gonna happen.
Giants at least made it a little interesting but in reality the season ended at 0-6. Too big of a hole to climb out of for virtually any team. If they could have avoided some dumb turnovers and hung in there to win, say, the first Dallas game and the Chicago game it would be a different story. But they didn't. Not losing Andre Brown for 8 weeks would have been huge, too.
I do like what I've seen lately though so I have some optimism going into next year. I really hope Beason is back in 2014. They took a low-risk gamble on him and he's been fantastic.

Evil Vito
12-02-2013, 11:33 AM
Sadly it appears Beason is a free agent next year. :( I have to assume his play could earn him a nice payday but I really, really hope the Giants can find the room to bring him back.
Based on this site, it seems the Giants will have plenty of ways to generate cap room:
http://overthecap.com/teamcap.php?Team=Giants&Year=2014
Snee would save $7.25M off of next year's cap if cut. May save even more if he chooses to retire outright from his hip surgeries. Rolle would also save $7.25M, I have to assume he'll either be asked to take a pay cut and if not he'll be released. Baas and Kiwanuka are both options to be cut, but there's so much dead money there I'm not sure the Giants would want to pay them that much to not play for them any more.
Not sure why Myers and Webster are listed on there as everything I've read suggests they're both on 1-year deals set to expire, so figure there's some more wiggle room there.
Beatty has been a disaster but there's no way they'll get rid of him. He'd actually cause them to LOSE $8M+ in cap space.
Evil Vito
12-02-2013, 01:38 PM
Peyton is 9 TD away from tying the record with 4 games to go. Early on it seemed like him breaking it would be a foregone conclusion but now it could be pretty close.
I think he'll get it though. If Denver and New England stay within a game of one another for the top seed, Denver will have no reason to bench him.

man Tennessee could have easily been 8-4 right now instead of 5-7 all but 2 of their 7 losses have been one possession losses. Whatever they did in the offseason last year is a slight improvement. Maybe next season they could be a playoff contender.

Either the Titans take their chance with Locker next season and hope he's healthy and build around him, or take their chances in the draft again.
No reason to go after Cutler since he himself can't stay healthy.
