CAZH718: will you be able to play your custom music during matches?

Bryan Williams: Yes, players will be able to play their own custom music during matches. However, this functionality will only be supported on the Xbox 360.

Okay, i was decided which next-gen console to get, and I had already been leaning toward 360. I guess this settles it.

Debuting in 1993, Tommy Dreamer is the longest tenured Original in ECW. His blue collar ethic is something that all aspire to, and it finally paid off when he won the ECW World Title from Tazz in 2000.

The first wrestler ever to kick out of "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka's Superfly Splash, Dreamer is often considered the heart of ECW for his loyalty and devotion. He is best remembered for his long-term rivalries and classic matches with Sandman and Raven.

The 14-time WWE Hardcore Champion would have an integral role in the revival of ECW when he helped Paul Heyman book the inaugural One Night Stand. As soon as the ECW brand was back in full swing, Dreamer was there. It would be hard to ever imagine ECW without Tommy Dreamer. Source: WWE.com

It's like, you have to remember who the commentators were at the cut-off point, and you have to know when the cut-off point was. I can distinctly remember about 5 different commentators on ECW (from what I've seen) in the past year. Styles, Tazz, J.R. for a day (the one day I did watch it from beginning to end, recently), Grisham, and Striker. I just figured Matthews was also in the mix at some point.

Again, I apologize for my ignorance. :(

In the summer of 2005, Lace Cade teamed with a brand-new Superstar named Trevor Murdoch, and the WWE would never be the same. Cade and Murdoch -- a slick cowboy and a rude redneck -- tore through the federation and racked up three tag team title reigns.

Sadly, Murdoch's WWE career came to a close in July of this year when Vince and company let him go.

<font color=goldenrod>Whoa, pretty spot-on to the roster posted last week except with Ashley, Big Titty V, and Ric Flair added.

The only omission I'm really pissed about is Jamie Noble. I mean they put Palumbo in even though all he'd done early in the year was feud with Noble. Noble is likely DLC either way with his recent push.

Outside of that, I could have used Shannon Moore or Deuce 'n Domino, but I didn't think either would be in.

Overall, solid roster...the best in a few years easily. Londrick 4tw</font>

Tazz is awesome, fills in the lacking ECW roster, won't cause annoying ass collision detection issues, and is someone I'll actually use. I'll agree that it makes more sense that the Swog is in since he's on TV, but I just personally think it's a useless addition that takes up the space of someone else. Granted the same arguement can easily be made for Tazz, but I'm biased because I like him... So yeah.

Mike Knox and Thorn I'd definitely prefer, because then there would be more new moves (Shell Shock for one)... Delaney would have been great for a whipping boy. <font color=goldenrod>I can't help but feel that guys like Snitsky, Boogeyman, hell even Cryme Tyme, mainly got in because they were in previous games and thus could have their models recycled. I bet they were going to put Deuce 'n Domino in and then Cryme Tyme returned the night after WM and so they thought "awesome! less work!"

If there is indeed DLC, I'm guessing the first batch would include Ted DiBiase, Manu, R-Truth, Vladimir Kozlov, and Natalya...possibly also Ricky Ortiz and Charlie Haas.</font>

the problem I've had with these games over the years is they all seem the same to me. Different Wrestlers, maybe one or two different modes each year seem like the only big differences.

What's new this year besides the wrestlers? I haven't really kept up with this at all

Tag matches have been improved to include partner interaction, like rope pull down, ref distraction etc. As well as hot tags.

A character specific season mode, even though its only for about 7 people, includes alternate outcomes with each part of the story for replayability.

And a career mode, for every wrestler, diva and caw. A mode that allows you to build stats, go after different titles, and compete through the years. No stories though. So all in all, sounds like SD2's career mode, minus stories.

lol, I was hoping BDV wouldn't be cut from the game after his release.

Simply because its fun to squash smaller guys with the bigger guys sometimes when I'm bored, and BDV is someone I haven't done that with yet.

One a side note of big guys, I hope the Showstopper chokeslam is different this year, as opposed the 'dazed twirl' that proceeded it for the past two years.

That targeting system looks sweet.

Does anybody know if there are any disadvantages to getting the Wii version of this, as opposed to the PS3 or 360 version? The wife is dead set on getting a Wii, so I was wondering if there were any disadvantages to the Wii version.

If it's anything like the last one, the Wii version is shit and worse than the PS2 version even.

To elaborate, from IGN:

Basic control in-game is pretty much what you'd expect it to be, this time with a few more tweaks. You move around the ring with the analog stick, attack with a quick flick of the Wii remote, and for a more arcade-like counter system, handle all blocking and dodging with the B trigger. The game focuses more on timing this year, so if you see action coming at you, you simply need to hit B at the right time. Go early, and you'll block. Hit it right, and you'll counter with a quick reverse setup. Go late, and you'll be counting the lights on the ceiling of Madison Square Garden.

Ugh. I *think* Road to Wrestlemania has also been stripped.

But what do Wii owners gain? INTERACTIVE ENTRANCES AND CELEBRATIONS.......... :|

You too can waggle as your wrestlers walk towards the ring for added momentum.

*shudder*

While his looks may be deceiving, Cade is not your typical good ol' boy. The handsome Cade is a smooth talking southerner known for boasting about his intentions and then delivering on the goods.

Together with Trevor Murdoch, Cade came to Raw in September 2005. Almost immediately, the pair became World Tag Team Champions with a victory at Unforgiven. With a successful blend of sweet and sour, the duo seemed unstoppable.

Their harmony didn't last forever; they split up amicably and remained allies throughout their tenure as singles competitors. Soon enough, their paths crossed again, and the Southern duo once again rejoined Raw's tag team division.

Murdoch proclaimed it was just the beginning for the re-formed team, warning that when you make rednecks angry, bad things happen. Unfortunately for him, this was true, and when Cade became angry with their losing streak, a bad thing did happen. Cade turned on his friend, punching Murdoch out.

Since venturing out as a singles competitor, Cade has found himself under the wing of Chris Jericho and Jericho's new mindset in WWE, even joining the first-ever Undisputed Champion's moral battle against his former mentor Shawn Michaels. Will his alliance with Jericho see Cade rise to new heights, and perhaps find him holding singles gold sooner rather than later? Source: WWE.com

Bout time they gave Michael's an elbow drop that even resembled his.

Was the figure 4 a finisher? If so that glass break really doesn't work with submission moves. Also, didn't we see a SCM that turned the opponent around before they hit the floor (potentially allowing a tag partner to hit a pedigree!?)?

Montel Vontavious Porter, also known as MVP, became SmackDown's gem acquisition on September 27, 2006, when then General Manager Theodore Long and Porter came to a lucrative contract agreement. The press conference was shown exclusively on WWE.com.

Signing Porter was not easy. Despite the fact that he had yet to step in a SmackDown ring, MVP was hyped by his agents as "the most talented free agent in the game," and he was in high demand from organizations all over the sports-entertainment world. Despite Long's requests, MVP made it clear that he wasn't getting in the ring until a contract was signed, because as MVP's saying goes, "no contract, no contact."

Porter is flashy and cocky, but he has been able to prove himself in the ring, winning multiple championships and defeating the likes of Kane, WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair and Batista along the way.

MVP soon found himself tag team champions with Matt Hardy, the No. 1 contender to his United States Championship. Although the pair were not the best of friends, they made very effective champions, even though MVP constantly insisted that he was the entire reason for their success. Unfortunately for Matt, MVP's true motive for partnering with him was to keep him from challenging him in singles competition. When Matt pushed the issue, MVP double-crossed him and caused Matt a serious injury, forcing him to leave SmackDown once again. Upon his return, Hardy not only cost MVP the Money in the Bank match at WrestleMania XXIV, but inevitability the United States Championship as well.

MVP main goal seems to constantly prove that he is better than anyone who steps in the ring with him. He is a smooth talker at the mic, as evident as MVP hosts the VIP Lounge on SmackDown, and a force to be reckoned with any time he steps between the ropes. Source: WWE.com

During his career, he's been a Natural Born Thriller, a controversial icon and a Full-Blooded Italian. Now that Chuck Palumbo has returned to WWE, however, he's getting to be something else: Himself.

Just by looking at him, you'd never guess that the seemingly laid-back Californian's biggest passion outside the ring has to do with speed and two wheels. But even before his in-ring days began, Palumbo was fascinated with building and riding motorcycles.

Don't let that reserved look fool you, and don't think for a second that Palumbo's mind is elsewhere when he's in the squared circle. Chuck is a master inside the ring as well, something many current and former WWE Superstars have found out the hard way.

First coming to prominence in WCW in 2000, Palumbo teamed with his fellow Natural Born Thrillers to capture the WCW Tag Team Championship four times in the promotion's final year of existence. Having moved to WWE following the acquisition of WCW, Palumbo is also a multiple-time World Tag Team Champion.

Palumbo left WWE in 2005, moving on to wrestle in Japan and Italy (as well as spend more time working on his motorcycle craft) before finally returning in 2007. And with both of his passions merged, Palumbo sees even clearer the similarities between the two.

"Wrestling is an art form, as is building motorcycles," he says. "You have to have a vision of what the end product is going to look like, then craft it with your hands."

Hopefully, Palumbo's biggest masterpiece in both fields is still ahead of him. Source: WWE.com

After being part of Men on a Mission and the Ministry as well as being a King of the Ring winner, Big Daddy V's most recent run in the WWE cast him as a smash-mouth Superstar who cleaned clocks in ECW. Big Daddy V would wrestle for the brand's championship, but he'd never attain it.

The Superstar was released from the WWE this past August.

Armed with one of the most devastating finishing maneuvers in all of professional wrestling, the Widow's Peak, Victoria is one of the most vicious Divas in WWE history. Don't let her impeccable good looks fool you. She may be one of the hottest Divas around, but the vicious vixen's beauty is only matched by a mean streak that has helped drive her to two Women's Championships.

Victoria has also been a pioneer in the Women's Division. At WrestleMania XX she defeated Molly Holly in the first-ever Women's Division Hair vs. Championship Match. After defeating Holly to retain her gold, Victoria humiliated Molly in front of a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden by shaving her head.

Outside of the ring, Victoria has been involved in various programs, speaking on behalf of WWE's Smackdown! Your Vote program, encouraging the youth of America to exercise their right to vote. While Victoria has always stressed the importance of children to be physically active, she believes it is also imperative to get a good education. Victoria studied biology at several colleges: Riverside Community, Loma Linda University and UCLA. She worked at the Inland Eye and Tissue Bank in Redlands, Calif., for three years.

Victoria has also shown over the years that she feels that success should only come from hard work. She's a strong believer that nothing should be handed to you in life. Source: WWE.com

I'm fine the amount of Divas in the game, makes things a bit more fun.

Although I would have taken out Ashley, Boogeyman, Swog, Vince, and Tazz and put in Knox, Natalya, Noble, D&D.

I don't know about anyone else, but I use the Divas once in a while. Just like I have my own regular male CAW, I have a female CAW to go with him as well.

Hornswoggle is useless in this game and really didn't need to be in... maybe as downloadable content...

And I never used the Legends either. I considered them useless and a waste of space.

I'm still hoping that Noble, Deuce, Knox, Natalya, et al will be DLC as well.

Carlito spits in the face of people who don't want to be cool, and apparently, many WWE Superstars fall into the category.

Exceptionally opinionated and full of himself, the second-generation Superstar (who is the son of the legendary Carlos Colon) projects quite the smooth demeanor. Armed with an apple in hand, Carlito isn't afraid to unload a mouthful of apple and spit it into your face if you're not cool enough in his eyes.

Of course, WWE Superstars haven't taken well to Carlito's cooler-than-thou attitude, which has oozed from the Caribbean native since his dramatic debut in October 2004, when he defeated John Cena for the United States Championship in his very first night on SmackDown.

Carlito found his voice in his own show when "Carlito's Cabana" debuted in 2005. Irritating and disrespectful to countless Superstars on the Cabana, Carlito maintained his spot as one of the most loathed Superstars on SmackDown.Source: WWE.com

Every year, THQ and Yuke's put out a WWE game, and every year, fans piss and moan because the roster is out of date -- someone switched shows, someone won a championship, and so on.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 gives you the power to shut up and fix any continuity errors.

Yes, via the Roster Editor, fans can pop into the game's roster and switch Superstars to whatever brand they like (Raw, SmackDown, ECW, Free Agent, Legend, or a special classification that's only available after being unlocked), swap titles, decide who is clean and who is dirty, as well as view stats and Abilities. In addition to the Roster Editor, SVR 09 packs a feature called Team Management. Here, you can create or destroy tag teams, give the duo a name, or add others to the stable.

http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/918/918351/wwe-smackdown-vs-raw-2009-20081009031208134-000.jpg
The power is yours.

These changes only affect the exhibition stuff -- i.e. changing a champion isn't reflected in Road to WrestleMania or Career Mode -- but both of these modes are good for every character -- created, unlocked, Diva, etc. -- in the game and available from the moment you turn on the system.

UPDATE: Although the official Roster Editor only affects the exhibition side of SVR, when players start a career, they can modify the roster via brand swapping -- clean/dirty ratings and assigning Superstars to Legend status are not available in Career Mode.

Well in svr 07 and 06 you have a limit to how much you boost your stats based on what your weight class is. I mean for heavyweight and higher, your guy is basically a main eventer, but you can't be Big Show size and have 99 for speed for example. And you are fucked if you have a dinky little cruiser or light heavyweight.

Dunno about 08 tho, since I refuse to play that piece of garbage.

Speaking of weight detection in DoR, one thing I wish they'd take from that is the 'struggle' system. Where if you were too light you'd have to beat the hell out of the A button to attempt to slam the heavy guy.

It gave a sense of effort to the move, and that you had to wear the guy down first. Like Hogan slamming Andre, or Brock/Cena doing the firemans carry to the Big Show(the 1st times, when they made it mean something)

After more than one year away from the ring, Big Show made his long-awaited return to sports-entertainment when the immense monster re-emerged at No Way Out 2008 – almost eight years to the date of his debut in WWE.

Last seen carrying the ECW Championship in the Land of the Extreme, the self-proclaimed "raw-boned bastard that breaks things and moves the immovable objects" is one of the most dominant forces in sports-entertainment history. Returning from a 14-month hiatus, Big Show has once again engulfed WWE with his gargantuan paws and the goliath looks to wreak more carnage than ever before.

Reminiscent of Andre the Giant and Big John Studd before him, the pound-for-pound World's Largest Athlete is a feared competitor who can intimidate an opponent with his size and stare alone. Big Show's measurements are astounding: 441 pounds; 7-feet of raw girth and might; 22 EEEEE shoe size; 22 1/2 ring size and a 64-inch chest.

Big Show made his in-ring debut in WCW where he left a massive impression as The Giant, and captured the WCW Championship on two occasions, along with the WCW Tag Team Titles. The Giant had an immediate impact in WCW, focusing his attention on some of the biggest icons in the industry, from Hulk Hogan to The "Nature Boy" Ric Flair.

In 1999, the mighty giant became a worldwide star upon signing with WWE. He continued to collide with Superstars of great renown and captured countless titles, including the WWE Championship. From "Stone Cold" Steve Austin to The Rock to Undertaker to Triple H, Big Show has battled and manhandled the top names in sports-entertainment. Source: WWE.com

The THQ&A

rated-r-583: will the new tag team improvements be available in six man tag matches?

Bryan Williams: Yes. All of the new tag team improvements will be supported within six-man normal tag team matches. In fact, the new tag team improvements will be supported in all normal-ruled tag team matches, such as the aforementioned normal six-man tag team match, one on tag handicap match, one on trio handicap match and tag on trio handicap match.

M_uNiT2k5: Will the online of '09 for the PS3 version support headsets this year?

Bryan Williams: Yes. The PlayStation 3 version of WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 will support the headset online.

GloatingWalnut: When you create a stable will you be able to give the team a tag team finisher?

Bryan Williams: Yes. In fact, until your Superstars have been formally legitimized within the game as a stable or tag team, you won't be able to perform a tag team finisher during gameplay. It's one of the many perks to creating a stable or team. Similar to all other moves in the game, tag team finishers can be assigned within Create A Move-Set.

Deadmantombtone445: Do the CAWS have a new character selection screen this year instead of that black box showing your character inside it?

Bryan Williams: Yes we do. In WWE SmackDown vs. 2009, CAS characters will no longer be confined within a box or any other enclosed structure. CAS characters on the Superstar Select Screen and match up or versus screen will appear as a render similar to the default WWE Superstars and Divas.

Mr.Rangers: Do abilities have to be unlocked in career mode to be added to a CAW Superstar or can they be assigned as soon as you have created one ? Also, we have seen a little of career mode and to me personally it looks sort of like the season mode that was in Here Comes The Pain, were you trying to recapture that style or is it something completely new ?

Bryan Williams: You are correct in that abilities need to be unlocked in Career Mode in order to assign them to CAS characters. There is a helpful menu within Career Mode that clearly explains how to unlock each one of the abilities, so there won't be any guessing involved.

BestGamerAliveMVP: Will we have the choice of using the original stats for the superstars we put in career mode?

Bryan Williams: Whomever you choose to progress through Career Mode with (CAS or Superstar/Diva) will start out with minimal attributes. One of the things we really wanted to stress with Career Mode was a sense of character growth and accomplishment. This allows players to take their characters and build them up from the bottom to the top.

ShawnDamian: Does CAW Mode contain more in Smackdown Vs. Raw 2009 than it did in Smackdown Vs. Raw 2008 in terms of CAW parts such as hairstyles, clothes, boots, shoes, and necklaces?

Bryan Williams: Yes. We update Create-A-Superstar with new parts every year. We've added roughly 30% new parts to Create-A-Superstar this year, ranging from clothing to shoes, accessories, hairstyles, etc.

Stormruin: In career mode...if we have already taken a CAW through and raised their stats will their stats reset automatically if we decide to take them back through or will we have the option to start over or raise them more?

Bryan Williams: Attributes for your CAS or WWE Superstar will never be reset. However, once your character has reached an overall of 100, you won't be able to build them up any further.

Stormruin: Can we go for the tag team titles in Career Mode?

Bryan Williams: Yes. Players can compete for both the WWE Tag Team and World Tag Team Championships.

PaintMeBloodRed: Will there finally be more than 2 animated ways to throw your opponent from the top of the Hell in a Cell structure?

Bryan Williams: You can actually throw an opponent off the Hell in a Cell ceiling in a few different ways. You can grapple your opponent near the ceiling's edge and toss them off, but the best way to toss an opponent off the ceiling is to use an Ultimate Control Grapple. You can use the Chokeslam, Lift Up, Samoan Drop and Piledriver Ultimate Control Grapples to manually throw your opponent off the ceiling. Just hoist the opponent up, walk toward the ceiling's edge and bombs away!

Jeff_Extreme_Hardy: Is the Elimination Chamber in the game?

Bryan Williams: Yes. The Elimination Chamber is a featured match type in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009.

wwefnfurlife: Now bryan/cory, this im sure has been asked a ton of times, but, when will the hell in a cell have the ability to get weapons under the ring. as of now the space is small, but in real matches, there is always weapon use, when will this factor into the sd series???

Bryan Williams: You'll definitely see these improvements implemented sooner rather than later. Unfortunately, that's all I'm at liberty to say for now.

wwefnfurlife: any chance of the armageddon hell in a cell returning....

Bryan Williams: The Armageddon Hell in a Cell match type will be available in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009.

baseballjohny29: In the career mode.......is the mode over once you've won a title, or are you able to continue career mode and defend those titles?

Bryan Williams: What's so cool about Career Mode is that there is no end. You can play through as many years and collect as many titles as you'd like. This is something we have distinctly seen as a fan request. And yes, Career Mode will feature title defenses.

KNIQKNAQ98: For the blood system is it the same as the previous year and if so I was wondering for future Smackdown games could make it so like when a superstar is bleeding and the more blood he spills it could affect his stamina?

Bryan Williams: The blood system is similar to previous iterations, but you'll definitely see some subtle visual improvements. Whether big or small, we like to make sure that everything in the game receives some kind of improvement, and bleeding is no exception.

KNIQKNAQ98: For future SD games is there a way we could transfer our CAWs to the next game?

Bryan Williams: I can definitely say that we've had plenty discussions about this feature. The big roadblock we have is that we want to continue improving our Create-A-Superstar mode. The more improvements we make and the more parts we remove and add make this carry-over feature near impossible. If we chose to keep the Create-A-Superstar mode exactly the same or near the same as the previous year, then we would be able to support this. However, we don't want to cheat you guys out of all the improvements we can make in the mode. We want this creation tool to be the best in the business. So in short, this is a difficult feature to add for us, but we are currently coming up with clever ways to help users out with this in the future.

I like Big Shows entrance, it reflects his 'fun and enjoying his job' character that he had since his return until his heel turn, not too happy about the chokeslam though.

One question I do have though, is that it says that the Showstopper is a sig move, and the chokeslam is his finisher.

But wasn't the Big Shows chokeslam always called the Showstopper in previous games?
Unless they've given the 'Showstopper' name to his knockout punch or something.

Normally, William Regal is one of WWE's most smug and haughty Superstars. A distinguished Englishman, Regal finds most others crass and downright unworthy of his time. While presenting himself as a dignified man away from the ring, Regal is a sadistic mat wrestler inside the squared circle, taking great pleasure in torturing his adversaries with stiff strikes and brutal submission holds.

Learning the ropes as a young teenager, the native of Blackpool, England traveled across the United Kingdom wrestling as part of carnivals. Facing off against challengers from the carnival circuit as well as from the crowd, Regal quickly earned a reputation as a lethal opponent, with fists of iron and dozens of different holds to render his adversaries helpless. Always interested in sharpening his tools as a wrestler, Regal traveled across the world, winning several championships in Europe, the Middle East and Japan before landing in WCW in 1993. There, Regal held the WCW Television Championship on four occasions; he also nearly won the WCW Tag Team Championship on several occasions with Bobby Eaton and Squire David Taylor, and also had a memorable rivalry with Finlay that saw the Irish brawler break Regal's nose during a match in 1996. Regal came to WWE for a short time in 1998, but headed back to WCW shortly thereafter.

Regal finally hit it big when he returned to WWE in 2000. Less than a month after his return, Regal defeated Al Snow for the European Championship that October. In April 2001, he would defeat Snow again to earn a different title: WWE Commissioner. Regal earned several chances at the Intercontinental Championship that summer; he was unsuccessful, but after enlisting Tajiri as his assistant, Regal became a key figure in WWE's battle with the ECW/WCW Alliance.

The Englishman also used his class and wit to determine the week-to-week function of the entire Monday night roster as the General Manager of the Raw brand, keeping in line "pillicks" and competitors alike. Arguably his crowning achievement, however, was becoming really regal by winning the 2008 WWE King of the Ring Tournament. Ultimately, his misuse of authority - blackening arenas and cutting microphone feeds - came to an end when Mr. Kennedy defeated Regal in a Loser Gets Fired Match on the May 19 edition of Raw. But that wouldn't be the last of the cunning Englishman, who soon resurfaced on Monday nights, seeking competition as sports-entertainment's hottest "free agent."Source: WWE.com

WWE SVR 09: Highlight Reel Announced
Create, edit, and share your best in-ring moments with this year's game.
by Greg Miller

October 13, 2008 - There's a buzzword in the videogame world right now; it's community. True, games have always had dedicated audiences that were linked together by message boards, tin cans on string, etc., but now the merging of games and online functions is creating all sorts of ways for fans to get together and go nuts about their favs.

WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 is no exception. In addition to the usual online matches, SVR 09 is tossing in Highlight Reel, an option where you can record parts of your matches, save them, edit them together, and then upload the file for the world to see.

OMFG.

<embed src='http://videomedia.ign.com/ev/ev.swf' flashvars='object_ID=14242649&downloadURL=http://ps3movies.ign.com/ps3/video/article/919/919336/SDvsR09_HLReel_101308_flvlowwide.flv&allownetworking="all"' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='433' height='360' ></embed>

The feature seems like it'll be easy enough to use. Players will do something cool in their matches; pause the game; and have the option to watch the last 30 seconds of gameplay while changing camera angles, manually moving the point of view, and fast forwarding and rewinding at will. If you dig a 30-second spot, you can save the clip and continue the match -- saving other replays whenever you feel like it. When the match is over, you can jump into the Highlight Reel option and get to work on your masterpiece.

Once you're in the editing tool, you're going to have a handful of options at your fingertips. You can toss in multiple clips, put transitions between them, add effects such as slow motion and filters, and pipe in sounds that include music from your system's playlist. There will be editable graphics and logos, the ability to change camera angles here as well, and more. When it's all said and done, you can create a custom, virtual DVD Cover with different backgrounds, Superstar photos, graphics, and custom text. You can even create your own screenshots -- complete with graphics, filters and more -- in the editing tool.

http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/919/919299/wwe-smackdown-vs-raw-2009-20081013113416467-000.jpg

You'll be able to save 20 of these movies, and yes, your created Superstars and finishers will be supported in this mode. When you think you've got squared-circle gold, you can upload your videos and/or screens and hop on the SVR server to download what the other rabid WWE fans have made.

In this interview Taku Chihaya, creative director on WWE Smackdown vs. Raw 2009, we address the question of features in this edition.

"We've had a lot of feedback from players about the latest version of Smackdown vs. Raw for Wii. All players agreed that the game was really easy to learn, but it was too oriented towards the general public, in other words, it lacked depth. We gathered the team to discuss. We agreed that the side accessible to all was a good, but that it was imperative that we make the game more fun and more exciting.

In the previous version of Smackdown, we had only one gauge on the screen, because we thought it would make life easier for players. But suddenly, as we have gathered all the information in a single gauge, it made the reading a bit complicated. That is why we have this year added a gauge of Momentum.

As you can see just now, we have developed for the Wii entries wrestler interactive. You can reproduce the poses of your favorite wrestler. But perhaps the morbid shyness of the Japanese players to prevent large movements in front of the screen. I think of all those who spend their time to work seriously to their computer and I see enough bad gestures with the Wiimote and Nunchuk.

I will now talk about the biggest novelty of this Smackdown 2009. From my earliest age, I dreamed of designing the final movement of a wrestler. To create it as simply as if you catch one of your friends to make a wrestling madness. With our editor, you can design your web end easily.

I heard about the game Midway TNA Impact. And I would play as soon as possible. It's been a long time that I have not played a game of catch which I have not worked myself. I am a true fan of wrestling games! With this new game, I can play another title than that I develop.

We thought of calling for every day mode Bra & Panties, "but it will be in the next year. We benefit from an engine offering better graphics. I apologize because we do not advise me a fan of the "Bra & Panties" was coming."

As for career mode, I have a feeling that its not going to be such a cop out after all, what with all the alternate twists and outcomes etc, it sounds like it'll have more playability and will be more fun than people are giving it credit for

08 was buggy, especially the story mode. It was also the first game where you couldn't use the majority of the wrestlers in story mode. At least now, the stories are character specific. Also, the styles weren't very balanced. Otherwise, it was just lackluster overall as far as gameplay updates.

The hand shaking/walking into the divas locker room (all that stuff with the opening commentary) was supposed to be non kayfabe or some bullshit that I read the devs say. That was like your wrestler (the person, not the character) turning up for the show. Terrible really.

Lord-Of-Darkness
10-14-2008, 04:46 PM
I think thats dumb for sure. Either pick kayfabe or non kayfabe(not neccisarily the game, but the mode itself definately) and stick with it.

Although it may be stupid, but no where near as stupid as TNA's 'Jarrett and LAX kidnap your partner and threaten to kill him'. I wonder at what point the devs realised their story was extremely simaler to Def Jam FFNY and Icon...

I only recently realised just how bad 08 was.

I haven't completed the 24/7 mode playing as a wrestler and haven't even touched it as a GM. I have half created one character. I have only unlocked a couple of locked wrestlers.

To some, wrestling is a way to get out of the regularity of life. To others like Chavo Guerrero, it is a way of life, a legacy and tradition that entwines a family.

His gene line reads something out of wrestling history; his grandfather was the legendary wrestler and promoter Gory Guerrero and his late uncle, Eddie Guerrero, is a name that will continue through the ages.

"Chavito" began his quest at an early age, often wrestling with Eddie during the intermissions of Gory's shows in Texas. After making his official in-ring debut in Mexico and traveling around the world, Chavo came to WCW in 1996, winning the Cruiserweight Championship twice during his time there.

Chavo came to WWE in 2001, and has won the Cruiserweight and Tag Team Championships multiple times. He fulfilled a life-long dream when he teamed with Eddie Guerrero to win the gold in 2002.

Following the tragic passing of Eddie in November 2005, Chavo has dedicated every match to his late uncle, and adopted Eddie's signature Frog Splash as his own finishing maneuver.

In 2008, the self-proclaimed "Mexican Warrior" aggressively pursued CM Punk's ECW Championship, leading Guerrero to winning the ECW Title. He has since remained a staple to ECW's roster. Now, with his association his bodyguard Bam Neely, he is more dangerous than ever.

No matter who he is with or against, Chavo is still realizing his destiny as a member of one of the most celebrated families in sports-entertainment history. Source: WWE.com

lol I love that they've got all the entrance gear in this year, including Chavos poncho.

Hopefully this means Edges jacket is in this year too

Entrance attires = awesome.

On the subject of entrances, I'm a little annoyed that Taker seems to have the droids again. That enterance should be reserved for the WM arena (unless it's only for inferno matches, in which case is cool)

Maybe its just PPV arenas? Like last year some guys only had pyro if it was on a ppv

I hadn't noticed that - show's how little I played last year's game!

Lord-Of-Darkness

lol, yeah. Undertaker had flames and stuff at PPVs. King Booker had pyro where he normally wouldn't. And Orton had his 'golden shower' pyro in the ring during his corner pose(like ONS 2006) instead of on the ramp to name a few.

Did anyone notice in the Inferno match vid, undertaker did his tombstone WITHOUT a pin? That's fricking awesome, because before he was shown with the pinning tombstone, so this MIGHT mean that moves that go into a pin won't go into a pin in non-pinning situations... I wonder if THQ was actually smart enough to implement that.

Damn, didn't notice the 1st time I looked, thats pretty awesome.

That will be awesome for cage matches and backstage brawls, because the opponent always seems to get up faster from a finish when you have to let them out of a pin.

Personally I think they should implement a system similar to the Legends of Wrestling games for pinfalls from finishers.

It's be much better to add an extra button press (perhaps having to time it at the right point) following a finisher than having it auto.

For example, the SCM where HBK collapses into the cover would just be a normal SCM where you have the option of pressing the X button for him to go straight into a pin.

The entrances change due to location or match type.

If you're Orton and you're challenging for a title you're pyro will be in the ring instead of the ramp.

Its pretty simple to understand.

"A quick monkey flip to the opponent."

I think thats the first time I've heard a commentator actually CALL THE ACTUAL MOVE in a game instead of saying "Oh man what a move" or something like that.

<font color=goldenrod>In a Gamingring vid it said that PS3/360 versions would have 66 playables...62 have been confirmed. And that pic that KOOS posted shows two Hidden spots. The only two active people that would fit that list are Maryse and Mike Knox (or Mike Adamle...:shifty: )</font>

Long story short...

*Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions to feature 66 playable people. Obviously the leak didn't reveal everybody...
*Create-A-Belt is OUT. This is apparently due to it being a rarely used feature in the game.
*Create-A-Tron is a distinct possibility for future editions of the game.
*Tribute To The Troops arena is 100% confirmed IN.
*No trophies for PS3 players.
*PS3 is graphically inferior to X360 at this point.

I was thinking, maybe they would screw with us and name Mr. McMahon "Mister McMahon" that would fit in the spot between Mickie and Miz.

Well last year he was Mr McMahon, but he was still in the place alphabetically where 'Vince McMahon' should have been. So its possible

<font color=goldenrod>Yeah I was thinking that too...it'd be worse than trying to predict the legends in the original SVR given an alphabetical list and seeing that one of the blank spots was "Masked Kane" instead of Mr. Perfect

The more I think about it...I seriously COULD see them putting Mike Adamle in as a joke :o he'll instantly be everyone's "test my CAWs on this guy" punching bag</font>

LOL at the Cruiser title being in the game yet not presented contested in WWE.

That and in Regal's entrance, his music and tron are not really up-to-date...I wish I had a system other than a PS2 so I could edit his music to the traditional one, and I had been hoping he'd have his KoTR '08 tron in...oh well...game still is gonna kick Impact's ass, sales and gameplay, and grahically, and critically-wise.

Who the fuck would ask if the Elimination Chamber is in the game? Is that moron serious?

Well I did think it was kinda silly to have Carlito's entrance featuring him coming in to a U.S. title match...kinda seems like Nov. '03-Jan. '04 all of a sudden...:shifty:

Also, LMAO @ C.P. making the roster, with his 'Taker '00-'03 like gimmick/entrance (w/the motorcycle, how he rides it all around the ring like 'Taker in HCTP), and @ Big Titty Viscagra actually making the roster cut.

They should be able to put Regal's proper music and tron in there, tho. It's as simple as changing the files. No extra programming or anything.
