Salo and Ballard as your 5-6 pair... Salo still has a slapper that would make Al Iafrate cringe, Ballard is good on both ends. Edler (might as well call him Elder considering his veteran presence despite his age...) has 3 games played since major back surgery, he's playing tough, putting up the body, laying down the blocked shots.
The only negative I can think of is with the Shitcago Blackcocks 4 posts.
Toews looks like a lost boy looking for puppy...
This is a huge win. Only thing I am afraid of is if this goes to 7 games...the Nucks are going to be dead come round 2.

Agreed.
I think this series will only last 5 games, but those are going to be some tough games. I look for one of the 'tards to run Luongo over in Game 3 or 4.
Even if the Hawks do(and if they do..I garuntee you Glass takes out Towes or Kanes knees...) Schinder could be a rookie playoff sensation. He's the real deal. He's ready to be a #1.

Good God why did Tortella(whatever the spelling) get another job? I cannot stand him. He won a cup that Ray Charles could have coached to victory.

I hope you're wrong.
It's hard cheering against the B's considering I've always liked them, and they have Lucic and Thomas who are my fav non Nuckers. The Habs are Canadian, and as a Canadian myself...it's been..18 years? Since a Canadian team won a cup. Jesus Christ. Someone born the last time Canada won a cup can now legally vote or buy porn..

That final would be amazing...an amazing victory for the Nucks.
I fear a big bad mean team like Philly or Boston a lot more than anything else.
Skill and talent vs skill and talent...Nucks win every single time. Its only the team that can grind and wear down the Nucks that will beat them.

Hey guys. Just putting this out there if anybody is interested. I've been involved in sim hockey leagues for about 5 years now. Basically, there's 30 gm's and you draft a team and manage it, like trading, setting your lines, entry drafts and such. Well I just joined a new league where you create your own player and you develop him. He gets drafted by one of the gm's in the league or signed to a contract and you assign points and such. Sort of like create a player mode in NHL 2011. For exaple, if you want your player to be a scorer, or a defensive defencman, you allocate your points towards certain attributes. I'm a goon right now so most of my points went towards fighting and checking. Anyways, this league is always looking for new players. It's alot of fun.
If you're interested or just want to check it out here's the link.
http://z7.invisionfree.com/The_SHL/index.php
If you join, make sure you note that "belak" referred you as I get 2 attribute points for every player I refer.

Signed up, awaiting approval.
Gertner
04-14-2011, 11:47 AM
Awesome! Now that you created your player, gm's will approach you with contract offers. Your GM will pretty much guide you through everything.
El Fangel
04-14-2011, 11:50 AM
This sounds awesome. Love that you are a goon.
Gertner
04-14-2011, 11:56 AM
It goes pretty in depth. People do play by play of the games, write scouting reports, articles, stuff like that.
El Fangel
04-14-2011, 12:19 PM
Thats awesome, I am wondering how the contract offer things work for rookies though.
Gertner
04-14-2011, 12:30 PM
Rookies get a one year deal because the draft is next season. Then you can take that money and buy attribute points.
El Fangel
04-14-2011, 12:35 PM
No what I mean is do we get approached with offers from GM's now?
Gertner
04-14-2011, 12:50 PM
Yeah, gm's will send you a private message with offers. Usually wait till after supper when they get home from work.
El Fangel
04-14-2011, 12:51 PM
Im kinda excited, sounds like alot of fun.
Gertner
04-14-2011, 12:54 PM
It's alot of fun. A simulator called STHS sims the games and you have a detailed scoring sheet to view after the game is done.

Stanley be thy name,
thy playoffs come,
thy will be done,
In Game 7 as it is in Game 1
Give us this day our lucky bounces
and forgive us our cross-checks.
As we facewash those who cross-check against us.
Deliver us from the pit of despair
For thine is the kingdom,
And the championship, And the glory.
For ever and ever.

Torres Torres Torres...
Part of me want to say Seabrook should have had his head up, shouldnt have been looking behind him...
But he was looking behind him because thats were the puck was.
Torres wasn't looking at then puck, probably didn't even know where it was.
Torres is not a dirty player. Lately he is being exposed as an opportunist. The actual body checks are proper. He is keeping his arms in, there is no loose elbow, and it looks like a clean hit. Anyone with common sense knows that Torres is taking advantage of his opponents.
He's going to sit 2-3 more games. He should count his lucky stars this is playoffs, because if this were still regular season, it would be 6+ Maybe even upwards of 10.
Arashi Kage
04-17-2011, 10:44 PM
I wasn't happy with Torres or the multitude of penalties that Vancouver took tonight. 6 PP opportunities for the Hawks - sooner or later that will burn you badly.
I'd welcome back Hodgson in place of Torres if Torres has to sit again. Hodgson was solid in the previous games.
CANUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! Nerve wracking finish. After the Canucks just barely missed 2 empty netters, I was sure that the Hawks would tie it up with less than 10 secs remaining. That's the way it usually ends up.

Down 3-1 into a 5-4 OT win for the Bruins and a tied series going back to Beantown.

are you fucking kidding me?
this current "core" team...never has a Canucks team frustrated me this much.
They had some bad team, but the effort was there. WTF is going here? This is night and day. They're not even trying. Lou is sucking some serious ass right now, but the guys in front are not helping at all. No one...not 1 single Canuck did anything this period.
Alain Vigneult...this is your last year. You should have pulled Lou after the 2nd goal. it was 20 something seconds after the 1st goal. You should have pulled Lou in game 4 after the 3rd goal which was like 15 seconds after the 2nd goal. Schiender is hungry, he has everything to prove. Lou is happy collecting his 10 mill, yet every year he tells the press "this year I feel better than ever"
I just don't get it.
How a team can be so dominating, can do every little thing right, win every little battle....then the next night look like a 1978 Pinto with 500,000KM
I can personally deal with the loses...as long as the effort is there.
I hope to God that Gillis can find someone willing to take Lou in the offseason. Give Schinds the chance. He's better for the salary cap, and he's still hungry.

If Canadian born players collectively decided to play exclusively on Canadian teams...we'd never lose the cup.
They're all millionaire, so really, whats the difference between 2 million and 3 million per year? you're still gonna live like a hog in shit.
Personally, If I were a NHLer and had to chose 500k to play on a Canadian team, or 1 mill to play on an American team...I'd pick Canada every time...but what do I know, I'm just an arm chair analyst

Team Canada won the gold despite Lou...not because of him.
I really hope Gillis can ditch him...and that contract. It's gonna be a long 75 years otherwise.
I have never seen a goalie like him. Some saves he makes Patrick Roy look like a little girl...other times Ray Charles would have been a better choice in net.
Every goalie has bad games, bad shots, bad bounces...bad luck.

The Blackhawks are someone that Luongo has troubles with. I mean after the first 3 games everybody kind of swept it under the rug, but after the 2 blowouts it makes you wonder where his head is at.
I see Luongo starting every playoff game and hope that these past 2 games won't get to him and will just be great for game 6. I mean yes, we were up 3-0 and lost the next 2 games 12-1, but as long as the guys in front of him play as aggressive then Roberto will be good.

Canucks are going to win game six.......I'm not going to bet on it but I think they will.
I haven't seen the last two blowouts. I saw the first period of game 4 and Loungo was on fire. Don't know if he choked the rest of the game or not.
Lou will start every playoff game for the Canucks unless he's injured. Don't forget he has a 12 year contract that starts now. There's no way they're going to tell their franchise goalie to have a seat. Should they? Maybe.
As for the Torres hit, the call on the ice was correct, maybe could have been 5 minutes. Colin Campbell was on a radio show and he even said it was clean, but he also said, he has no idea what the rules are anymore. In my opinion, if your shoulders are in, you're not coming from behind or the side, you don't charge and don't leave your feet, tough shit for having your head down.

Vancouver could hold the worst of the upsets because none of them were a 1v8 matchup (2 done in Stanley Cup finals and a 6v7 last year).

Incorrect Toronto did come back from 3-0 against Detroit in the 1942 Stanley Cup Final, but that was the only time it happened in the finals the other 2 were 1975: Islanders coming back again the Pens in the Quarter Finals and the aforementioned Flyers coming back last year against the Bruins and that was the semi final.

To be fair, Cujo played on alot of shit teams that barely made the playoffs. He was pretty good on some awful Pat Quinn coached Toronto teams that didn't know the meaning of the word "back check".
Well the reason he was so good was that he got 50 shots a game. For the most part goalies need a lot of rubber on the net to stay limber in a game. Very rarely is there a tender who can be great making minimal saves (Ken Dryden, Martin Brodeur)
That is why, in my opinion, when Joseph when to Detroit he played so poorly, he never got a lot of shots, so he was having to make cold saves. Which is very hard to do.
Gertner
04-25-2011, 11:06 AM
I always thought Cujo got a raw deal in Detroit especially in the 03-04 playoffs. His GAA was 1.39 and his save percentage was .939. Not sure what more Wings fans wanted from him. It's not his fault the Wings couldn't score on Kipper.

I just remember watching Cujo and thinking "wow he's not playing as well as he did for Toronto"

Gertner
04-25-2011, 11:27 AM
I'm a Leafs fan too, and Wings fans shit all over their goaltenders CONSTANTLY, unless your name is Chris Osgood. If Jimmy Howard has 1 bad game next round, Wings fans will be calling for Osgood even though he's been shit for 2 years now.
Cujo lost the last two games to Calgary both by scores of 1-0, the last one in overtime. Wings fans were bitching" why couldn't have stolen those two games instead of Kipper?" Lol he allowed two friggen goals in two games!
Even in the 02-03 playoffs when the Wings got swept, his GAA was 2.08 and SVP .917. The scores in the series were Game 1: 2-1 OT Anaheim, Game 2: 3-2 Anaheim, Game 3: 2-1 Anaheim and Game 4: 3-2 Anaheim OT. The Wings offense was the reason, not Cujo.
I think the stat I heard last night was that Luongo has 20 playoff losses and 11 of them were to the Hawks.lol

Both goals for Montreal came from 5v3 opportunities when Montreal didn't get any or maybe just 1 of those types of situations in the previous 5 games.
Bruins powerplay is still bad and yet wouldn't be surprised if Game 7 is full of fights.
