Or, for the non fucking moron audience, A QB that led a iffy defense to a title and nearly won another,
I like you. Stop being a fucking moron on purpose.
I like that you like me, thanks. I like you too sir! An Iffy defense? Defenses don't throw three interceptions in AFC Championship games. Iffy Defenses don't throw Pick Sixes on fourth quarter game winning drives. in the super bowl that he led his team to, he threw for 247 yards, turned the ball over once, while completing half of his passes to a running back who accounted for 143 yards of offense. The Colts ran the ball 40 times that game (when's the last time you remember the COLTS running the ball more than 25 times a game?), and the two biggest moments of the game came on Devin Hester's KO return and the Kevin Hayden(sp) Pick Six that sealed the game.
But hey, The Colts won, he was awarded the MVP...Good on him!
and the loss to the Saints was closer to Manning's form than most fans will want to admit. The NFL is a harsh and brutally honest business. There's no shame and admitting that Peyton is one of the QB's we'll always talk about. There's also no shame in admitting he's closer to Dan Marino than Joe Montanna.

no way he ends up in miami. Miami is going to grab Flynn from green bay. Especially because a former coach of his is there.
peyton goes to arizona... best situation for him.
Emperor Smeat
03-09-2012, 12:28 AM
Realistically its between 4 teams: Miami, Arizona, Washington, and KC.
Miami will provide him with a warm weather stadium and instantly becomes their starter. Only concern is the rest of the division because of Miami's poor record once winter arrives.
Arizona could get him but then they would admit the Klobb experiment was a failure and can't afford to tie up a huge amount of money between Klobb and Manning.
Washington already admitted they are willing to destroy their future hopes just to cash it all in with a gamble the next 1-2 years with Manning.
KC would be more of following the similar route Montana did and they already have a decent QB in Cassel who has experience as a backup. Division is also the weakest so they easily become the favorites.
Of all of those places, I can see him going to KC if he wants to win or Arizona if he wants a big contract. Miami is like Washington where he'd have to worry about divisional games considering both division have defenses that love to play physical.

Broncos apparently still seriously in the running for Peyton.
Vic Lombardi @VicLombardi
This Manning-to-Denver thing is heating up again. So says someone close to the situation.....that's all I got.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen estimated to radio station Arizona Sports 620 that free agent Peyton Manning (neck surgeries) is "85-90 percent healthy."
Mort suspects Manning will make a final decision "within three to four days." He also confirms the Broncos are a more serious candidate than commonly believed while suggesting Houston would top the list if they were interested (not happening). Despite speculation to the contrary, Mortensen insists Manning will not go to the "highest financial bidder," placing football priorities first.
Think Denver has just as much to offer as any other team. Good run game, good young receivers in Thomas and Decker (not including Wayne probably going where Peyton goes) and a solid line. The defense is also pretty good and only going to get better.
McLegend

I heard on the radio Manning wants to stay in the AFC.
I would think he would want to go to a dome team, and therefore the Cardinals I think would be the best choice.

I dunno. I feel like arguements could be made for the Dolphins, Chiefs, Cardinals, Broncos, Texans (if they are pursuing or w/e), and even the gay ass Jets could be considered. Can't see him going to the Redskins, think I am pretty safe in ruling them out.
If I took everything i know/think about Peyton and pretended to be him this is the order of appeal I think he would have

Texans and Chiefs dont need QBs. Broncos probably do need a QB but there would probably be riots if they don't keep on with Tebow.
Jets dont stand a chance just on principle of both Mannings playing in NY.
The idea of Peyton Manning playing for the Cardinals is ridiculous, but they're in a decently winnable division with most of the parts in place.

For Peyton the road to the playoffs in the AFC is easiest in the West. Broncos, Chiefs and Raiders are all still trying to get their shit together while the Chargers are just trying to not collapse completely.
I THINK WE COULD DO THIS, BROS
Evil Vito
03-09-2012, 01:22 PM
I think it'll be the Dolphins. He already has his main protection (Long), a #1 wideout (Marshall), a 1,000 yard rusher who can also catch passes (Bush), an offensive-minded head coach, and a team that played a lot better down the stretch. I have no idea what the Dolphins' cap situation is, but could you imagine if they got Reggie Wayne or somebody to follow Peyton there as well? Peyton would have some awesome weapons and I think they'd be an immediate contender.
Everybody has Flynn going to Miami because of the coach...but if you're the Dolphins and you can pick between Manning or Flynn, it's a no brainer.

The only teams that "don't need QBs" are those that already have top tier QBs (GB, NO, NE, NYG - probably forgetting some). Other teams should be doing all they can to get Peyton, especially if they're on the list of teams for which he'd consider playing.

A 36 year old future HOFer who just sat out a whole year with a fucked up neck that may never be the same or a young guy with seemingly a lot of potential? Look at it however you want.
Would it really take a shitload to sign Flynn though? I'm not sure, don't really know much about him or his actual value. And like I said, IF he's as good as the hype, and if anyone would know that it'd be their new coach. Though I guess them going hard after Peyton may answer that.

ESPN's Adam Schefter suggested Friday that the media "circus" that ensued after Peyton Manning touched down in Miami following his release by the Colts may have affected his outlook on playing for the Dolphins.
PFT's Mike Florio called it a "South Florida frenzy." Citing people who know Manning, Schefter reported that the helicopter chases were especially "jarring" for a person who is unaccustomed to over-the-top, paparazzi-style media coverage. Manning probably hasn't ruled out the Dolphins yet, but this is a factor he'll have to consider when contemplating whether to play for the Fins.

Flynn is going to land a big contract wherever he goes, I have no doubt about it. There will definitely be a team that overreacts to the 6 TD game. I'm not saying he's going to suck or anything, but I think there's a lot more risk involved. Peyton is obviously a way more proven commodity and as long as you have a decent offensive line I don't think his health is going to be an issue going forward.

Agree, its the Cassel situation all over again. At least in Cassel's case, he had a whole season worth of games to beef up his value.
While Cassel isn't horrible as a QB, KC doesn't have the same system or structure set up like in New England. They've been trying to change it a bit but so far hasn't been that great.

I would have considered Schaub at the top of the 2nd tier of QBs under that top tier, how quickly people forget him after the Texans had to deal with TJ Yates for 1/2 a season. You bring in Manning and you risk them struggling with a new QB vs being the favorite in the AFC next year with a healthy Schaub, Mario Williams and Andre Johnson in that piss poor division..

I think he's an actual legal adviser for both Peyton and Eli.
Had to look it up but he might also be a co-agent due to referring both to the same agency he was involved with during his playing days.
Colts also expected to release Reggie Wayne which will leave Luck with no real options unless they want to mimic what the Bengals did by drafting both a great QB and great WR in the same draft. Bengals got lucky that the Dalton-Green pairing meshed almost instantly instead of needing 1-2 years to develop.

Heavy price the Skins gave up although the Browns were offering the same with the only issue being if they would extend to include a 2nd round pick while Washington didn't hesitate.
Now the Rams don't need to worry about Sam Bradford sucking with all the extra 1st round picks they have to either replace him within 3 years or improve the team a lot.

Yeah, feel as though this is a given now. Elway seems to be looking for any reason to dump Tim, and Manning is the only name big enough to prevent the backlash from being too massive. What's likely to happen IMO if Peyton signs is Tim gets traded and Elway drafts a guy early to be groomed to take over after they get 2 or 3 years out of Peyton

[Editor's note: The following list shows the cap space for each team, as of Sunday, March 11. Transactions occurring after 4:00 p.m. ET on Friday, March 9 are not reflected. For example, the Vikings will have more space as of Monday, due to the termination of the contracts of several players. This whole Manning thing is like a shitty Ben Stiller movie. Tebow is the new girlfriend who everything is going great with, but all of the sudden the homecoming queen starts showing an interest in Ben Stiller.
The best case scenario is where Peyton signs and mentors Tim on how to throw. I guess that's the equivalent of Stiller having a threesome to end the film.

Apparently the Lombardi thing was bullshit.
And cutting Levi Brown (which the Cardinals are going to do anyways) saves them $15 mil on the cap. That plus Kolb and minor other cuts (Heap and Chansi Stuckey) and the Cards are right there.

Dunno, probably. But there's something about the way all these tweets have come out that sounds like someone said something they shouldn't have. Wrong reports about anything are out there all the time and nothing ever gets said, yet as soon as Lombardi posted that tweet the Broncos FO are all over it denying it saying they wanted to be "respectful of the process". Plus Lombardi has been on the money about this Manning stuff from the beginning, so it seems a bit weird for him to be wrong now.
But yeah, like I said, he probably is wrong this time. Just seems odd to me

Oh the Tebow love is still there. I personally have just come to accept that there's no future for Tim here as long as Elway is in charge. Even if he can't land Peyton John's career is going to be one attempt to replace Tim after another. I'd rather Tebow go to a team like Jacksonville where the FO and the fans actually want and will appreciate him. He deserves a fair shot somewhere because he sure as hell isn't going to get it from Elway in Denver

Nah bro, tebow has been the red headed bastard stepchild that mcdaniels left behind after the divorce. Since mcdaniels was fired, Tim tebow has been loved by fans, and hated by management. Elway has public ally heted on the kid every chance he got. He only threw his lukewarm support behind him after the nation latched onto their winning streak. Denver management has every right to want a new quarterback, but they have been classless in their handling of Tim tebow. I hope they get manning, cut tebow and go 3-13.

If Tebow comes to Jax, I don't see him being the starter. They've pretty much commited to Blaine, but Tebow would sure as shit put asses in the seats at Everbank Field. Going to laugh if Miami doesn't get Peyton considering how over-zealous the media got there and might have "scared" him out of town. He's used to playing and living in a more calmer area unlike the more hectic Miami area.
Him going to Tennessee would be a worst case scenario for the Colts because now they'd have to face him twice a season and nothing motivates a player more than playing against his old club.

Manning or not I'm gonna miss Tim because he's likely gone after this season unless he shows dramatic improvement, since no one seems to want to wait for him to develop some more. Everyone expects Aaron Rogers or Matt Stafford, but forget it took them several years to get as good as they are. I'd love to see Tebow learn from Manning and it would probably make a smart business move, but it is very unlikely to happen. They'll probably end up losing both and end up with some draft pick that amounts to nothing.

Mario Williams meeting with the Bills tonight.
They have 30 million in cap space and have said they have only two targets they are going after hard. Williams and Robert Meachem as a number two WR.
Im torn, part of me feels like no way he comes here, and probably using the bills to drive his cost up...but at the same time, they are the FIRST team he is visiting, and that has to count for something.
Honestrly the Bills could contend with an improved pass rush and a decent draft.

I dont think the Bills are far off from contending for a Wild Card. They dropped off last year after Fitz broke his ribs and they lost Fred Jackson for the year. If they add a Legit number two WR, if they somehow landed an elite pass rusher (which they havent had in years) and they finally avoid the injury bug that put out 9 starters last year, they could win 10 games.

Also would be a huge loss for the Texans who have built their defense around him and now with the Colts supremacy over, that division could belong to the Texans for a few years with Williams.

NFL receiver Marshall 'slugs' woman at Chelsea nightclub
By KIRSTAN CONLEY
Last Updated: 1:05 AM, March 14, 2012
Posted: 1:03 AM, March 14, 2012
The “Beast” has lived up to his nickname, a woman alleges.
NFL star wide receiver Brandon Marshall — whose list of run-ins with the law is as long as a football field — allegedly slugged the woman at a Chelsea nightclub, The Post has learned.
Marshall was at Marquee early Sunday when he got into an argument with a group of friends celebrating a birthday, law-enforcement sources said.
Around 4 a.m., birthday girl Christin Myles, 24. left an upper floor to greet a friend downstairs.
When Myles tried to get back upstairs, a bouncer told her she had to wait because there was a fight between two football players — Marshall, 27, and an unknown athlete — who were being thrown out of the club, the sources said.
She later met up with her friends, who were arguing with the NFL bad boy and the other football player outside.
Marshall — who earned his nickname with his aggressive style of play — then allegedly cold-cocked Myles in the left eye. She suffered a black eye. It wasn’t clear if he allegedly intended to strike her or one of her pals.
Myles filed a police report.
A lawyer for Marshall — who was traded by the Miami Dolphins yesterday to the Chicago Bears — told The Post that the fight did not involve Marshall or his friends.
“While attempting to leave to avoid the melee [Marshall’s wife] was struck in the face by a thrown bottle. She suffered serious injury.
While attempting to leave and take his wife to the hospital, the mayhem continued outside. Mr. Marshall is hoping to assist authorities in regards to this matter."
Police said the only report filed about that night names Marshall as a perpetrator.
Marshall’s rep declined to deny whether he threw a punch or say whether he attempted to file a police report about his wife’s injuries.
Sources said the Bears weren’t aware of the incident.
The melee came less than a year after Marshall was rushed to a Florida hospital after his wife allegedly stabbed him.
Marshall, who’s been busted at least six times, was involved in a New Year’s Eve 2006 fight in Denver that led to a teammate being fatally shot in a drive-by.

I've said the whole time, they should have kept Brees and Nicks, and let Colston go.. Specially with the talks about Randy Moss looking prime ans all..
Bucs took our center Jeff Faine a few years back and Goodwin did a good job of replacing him so we'll see.. I just think it won't matter who Brees is throwing to if the line can not keep him clean in the pocket (e.g. the Rams game from this past season)..

The NFC South is going to be a knock down drag out fight this season. The Bucs are making some good moves and I think Freeman is due a breakout season. I expect the Panthers to be competitive too. And as much as I hate the Aints, as long as they've got Brees behind center they've got to be a favorite in any game, except against the Falcons.
Can't wait for Madden '13.

Broncos and Elway continue to wait to find out just how much money they have to throw at Manning's forehead while CBs, LBs and RBs that could turn the teams weaknesses into strengths visit and sign elsewhere. Solid strategy.
Oh but wait! Brandon Meriweather!

Every website I read praises the Broncos for being "smart" for waiting for the money to go down, like they did last year. Problem is, the money goes down because the quality of players goes down too. Here's last years FA crop:
RB Willis McGahee
WR David Anderson
TE Dante Rosario
TE Daniel Fells
DE Derrick Harvey
DE Jamaal Anderson
DE Ty Warren
RB CJ Gable
LB Alvin Bowen
DT DeMario Pressley
CB Jonathan Wilhite
Now, besides Willis, how well did that work out for them?

Why take it back 12 years? What's the all time record Kris P? Hint: It's 46-40 Falcons. BTW, our quarterback hasn't even hit his prime yet and is going to have two Pro-Bowl caliber receivers to throw to for years to come. Maybe you guys can pick up Jason Campbell next year after Benson starts being cheap again and Brees walks.

I havent been able to do a think at work besides refresh twitter all fucking day. This is out of control.
Mario is STILL in the Bills Stadium, jsut took a tour of the area with his lady. 24 hours he has been here. With no plan to leave...Take that for what it is worth.
I just feel like if was going to sign, it would have happened...Though some are speculating a deal has been reached, and that they are waiting on Ralph Wilson's old ass to get trucked in from his home in Michigan.
