The only reason I could see RG3 being a bust is because hes going to the career cemetery known as the redskins. Put him on almost any other team and theres no question he would be great.

I think Andrew Luck is going to be a bust because the Colts have drafted 2 successful quarterbacks with their first picks in the draft and two shitty quarterbacks with first picks and seeing as how their last one was good Luck will certainly be bad

my dumb theory is better than yours Droford

Hey guys, just curious. What's your go-to channel for watching the draft tonight? ESPN or NFL Network?

Next Big Thing
04-26-2012, 08:09 AM
ESPN because I still haven't figured out what is in Mel Kiper's hair, but I think I've narrowed it down to a combination of Sportin' Wave, Murray's Pomade and Isoplus. This is the year I finally nail it.

I'd probably go back and forth. Whichever one doesnt spoil the pick before it's in, but I guess they both do that.

Also I didnt know Chandler Jones was Bones' brother. Some sick genes there

2009- Stafford/Sanchez
2004- Rivers/Manning
2002- Carr/Harrington
1999- Couch/McNabb
1998- Manning/Leaf
1995- McNair/ Collins

Unless I'm reading your table of top 5 selected QB's wrong, your inane notion that RG3 and Luck both can't be good because they're in the same draft seems pretty inconclusive. In terms of numbers, Sanchez's first three seasons are almost identical to Eli's, he's improved every season and by the way, dude played pretty well during those two AFC championship runs in the playoffs. Stafford's team just got there, so I don't see how you can call anyone in that pairing a bust.

Philip Rivers is statistically the better quarterback than Eli, but Eli has more rings. I don't think either of those guys are a bust.

Carr and Harrington were both busts.

I'll give you Couch as a flop, but he went # and stylistically who is RG3 more comparable to, Tim Couch or Donovan McNabb.

I'll give you Leaf as well, but unless RG3 has an addictive personality/mental disorder, I don't see how they compare.

Kerry Collins may not have been as good as McNair statistically, but he put up some nice numbers and did start his career on an expansion team. He actually threw for more yards in his career than McNair and had less talent around him overall. He also took the Giants to the Super Bowl. Let's not forget he did that as a functional alcoholic. Again, I ask, who is RG3 stylistically comparable to, McNair or Collins?

I wonder if the Colts will make a parade of their first pick even though everyone knows they've already decided to take Luck. I just don't get why they would wait almost the whole 15 minutes to make their pick when they already know, and have announced, who they're taking.

Add Big Ben to 2004. The first 3 QBs taken that year are all pro bowlers for playoff teanms, and 2 of them have 2 rings each.

Who cares if they are 1/2 or 1/4

The point should be made about it being the first few qbs drafted.

I am back to hating Droford.

It's just more low effort thinking on his part. When you actually dig deeper and compare the "busts" to either QB in terms of skill set, personality and the situations they're going into, you see how stupid the thought is.

That post of mine really upsets me. I remember leading into the 2004 Draft the Bills wanted a QB but were drafted 13th. I wanted Rivers or Big Ben so bad. Rivers stock rose LATE and all of a sudden he went 4th. The Bills knew they had to move up from 13 for ben and didnt. He goes to Pitt and they win 2 bowls. Bills end up trading back into the 1st for Losman. WOW.

They paid more to move up for Losman than it would have cost to move up for Biug Ben. I want to cry when I think of their draft days misses.

Whitner Over Ngata...

Maybin over Orakpo

McKelvin over Clady.

the list goes on and on.

Those were all major picks the NFL community thought was a possibility and the Fans were calling for.

Imagine had they been at all compentent.

Add Clady, Ngata, Big Ben and Orakpo to the bills...My god.

Granted things would have changed and those picks would have changed, but damn, just shows you how bad the Bills Front office was during the Marv Levy/Dick Jauron years. Killed any hope of the Bills ever being a legit contender again.

Drofords support argument is less about QBs taken in the same draft, and more about how shotty the rate of 1st round qbs are.

My point still stands about QBs taken 1/2 in the same year though..

I shudder to think what happens if Tannehill goes #3, it'll be like 1999 with Couch/McNabb/A. Smith. Teams panic "OMG the QBs are all gone" and go rush to a QB that under normal circumstances wouldn't be touched before the 3rd round where expectations wouldn't be so high. Tannehill WILL DEFINITELY be a bust if hes drafted top 5. I have less doubt about that then saying that RG3 will be a huge bust. The good news is he's not projected to go top 5, but I could see someone panic at the last minute..

Emperor Smeat
04-26-2012, 06:15 PM
Don't think the Vikings would take Tannehill considering they drafted Ponder last year and Tannehill doesn't seem that much of an improvement over Ponder. They have a lot more areas to fix to potentially waste a pick on another QB.

Cleveland at #4 is teasing they might take Bama's RB as their first pick and both the Bucs and Rams haven't made any mentions of a possibility of a QB being their first pick.

Vikings teased they are more likely to pick an OT, CB, or WR for their first pick but Tannehill probably won't be a Top 10 pick or at least not a Top 5.

Crimson

Browns trade up to #3

Emperor Smeat
04-26-2012, 07:15 PM
Yeup ESPN is saying the Browns panicked thinking Tampa wanted Richardson (Bama RB) even though it probably wouldn't be the case while Minnesota knew the players they wanted would still be available a few picks down and they get to save some cash even though rookie pay scales are a lot lower than 2 years ago.

Tampa wants Blackmon a lot more than Richardson although Minnesota also wants Blackmon but they can deal without having him as long as they get the CB or OT guy they want.

I REALLY wanted Keuchly. But he wasnt there. Im happy with Gilmore. Dude is a legit top CB pick and we needed the help.

With Williams, Williams, Dareus and Anderson up front, Gilmore is going to really help this defense shut down the quick pass, and if you want to drop 7 deep, They are coming for you.

Reese has already come out and said that David Wilson was the #2 RB on their draft board (Richardson would presumably be first, because teams rank everybody even if there's no chance to get them) - so the Giants got the guy they wanted. I trust him.

Although with so many interesting players still on the board, I do wonder if the Giants would consider moving up. They can afford to have less picks in the draft because Reese always seems to find gems in the undrafted free agent pool.
