Jonathan Vilma and four other Saints entered their appeal this morning. Goddell (that asshole) adjourned their meeting and asked to meet later this afternoon.

VIlma ain't having that and said he isn't coming back for this circus. It appears that the other three are undecided on whether or not to return. All four may pursue other legal actions.

I love Jonathan Vilma's Gangster throughout this whole stint. He's on some Nino Brown shit...although Nino Brown rolled over and snitched on everybody as soon as he got some heat.

Nino also got popped in the end, so now I'm fully expecting Vilma to win his appeal and then get shot by Brett Favre as he's walking out of NFL HQ.

Makes me sick to my stomach that the Broncos acquired Peyton Manning, but this doesn't mean that the Raiders/Broncos rivalry is one sided at all. I think everybody is going to be pretty surprised at how well the Raiders do this year. Trading away those draft picks maybe wasn't the greatest idea in theory, but if Carson Palmer pays off then it will all be worth it.

The Raiders should be a good team depending on coaching, but I believe the surprise team in that division will be KC if they have recovered from last seasons injuries.

Can't imagine Dennis Allen being ready enough to be a competent HC. One year as a DC of a defense that IMO was pretty overrated makes you ready? And even then how much was him and how much was John Fox? Just don't see this going well for Oakland, which of course I have no problem with

Agree on the KC thing though, pretty worried about what they can do with a healthy team.

Yeah, I used to listen to bay area sports radio all the time because of the 9ers and they had frequent interviews with Hue. He is a really happy jolly guy most all of the time and he's got a pretty good "football mind." His overall demeanor though is what makes me like him though. Doesn't have to be some serious dickhead all the time.

FUCK ALL OF YOU. I AM A FAN OF CINCINATTI

With the Bengals holding their training camp in Cincinnati for the first time, the club decided it'd be nice to offer a pep rally to its most loyal fans. Hopefully, though, those fans read the fine print. The part where it says they'll be charged $10 per ticket to the event, $5 for parking and “reduced price” food concessions.

Naturally, this has caused hand-wringing on at least one fan website. Who Dey Revolution -- which, as you might have guessed, usually blasts the Bengals -- used the letter to rip the team to shreds.

I won't do that here. Instead, I'll post the letter and see if you think it's fair.

With training camp coming to Cincinnati for the first time, the Bengals are hosting a special event and inviting all of our season ticket holders for what promises to be a fun evening.

On Thursday, July 26, the Bengals will kick off training camp with a pep rally with the entire Bengals team, followed by a concert and fireworks show.

Paul Brown Stadium gates will open at 6 p.m., and alumni players will be on hand for autographs. The Pep Rally will begin at 7 p.m. and feature comments from Head Coach Marvin Lewis and players, along with player introductions.

After the players depart for their first meeting of training camp, beginning at around 8 p.m., the local band DV8 will perform rock and pop hits for 90 minutes. The event will conclude with a fireworks show beginning at around 9:45 p.m.

Due to the Macy's Music Festival beginning on Friday the 27th, the stadium will be set up in concert mode with a stage on the field facing the east sideline. General admission seating will be available for this event on the field, as well as on the sideline levels. Season ticket holders can purchase an unlimited number of tickets to the Pep Rally.

Tickets for this Pep Rally & Concert are $10.

The entire stadium is not available due to the concert set up, so capacity is limited and tickets will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. It is our hope that we fill up our capacity by getting a good response from season ticket holders who are excited by this fun, first-time event.

Tickets will be mailed to you after purchase. Parking in the Mehring Way Lots (Lots D, E & F) will be available at a cost of $5 per vehicle. ARAMARK will have concessions available at reduced prices.

We look forward to a great training camp followed by a winning season. We appreciate your support, and hope to see you at the Pep Rally & Concert.

In response to the criticism, Bengals spokesman Jeff Berding told the Cincinnati Enquirer that the event will cost the team “north of six figures” and that the ticket price was simply to help the team with the expense.

“I think most people think this is a pretty neat thing,” Berding said.

Emperor Smeat
07-12-2012, 03:34 PM
Jags problem is Florida isn't a strong place for Pro sports besides the Dolphins and even they struggle at times compared to college sports especially football. Same flaw as LA where the people would rather be elsewhere than at a sports arena regardless how good the team is or they bail en masse the moment the team no longer is great.

Only way the Brows are ever going to be good is to truly mimic the Ravens and Steelers by having an awesome defense or go the route of the Bengals and rebuild the O-line if they can't match in defense.

Well, apparently they offered him a couple options for a long term deal but it wasn't up to snuff. He's been a great asset to us but he's also made quite a bit of mistakes. One of those mistakes probably cost us the NFC Championship. I can see why we aren't keen on pumping unlimited money into the guy.

Well yeah, but in the context of the game, that was a pretty costly mistake that could've maybe led to victory if it had happened the other way. Same thing with the Kyle Williams stuff. They aren't the reasons we lost... But we still might've won had they not happened.

Krimzon7
07-18-2012, 05:21 PM
If Michael Crabtree wasn't such a pussy who couldn't finish a game/season, then the backup who fumbled punt returns wouldn't cost them the game

Emperor Smeat
07-18-2012, 06:11 PM
If Kyle Williams just called a fair catch, the fumble doesn't occur.

He barely got any space to run because of the excellent Giants return coverage and the field is pretty muddy that he slips after running a bit which helped cause the fumble to occur.

Nark Order
07-18-2012, 06:25 PM
Yeah, pretty much. Everyone goes "you can't blame Kyle Williams because Alex Smith didn't convert a 3rd down the entire game." Which is a valid point. The point still stands though that we probably would've won had Kyle Williams not totally fucked up. Again, not the reason we lost per say in the grand scheme of things, but we still probably would've won had he not done that. Situational context is important.

Nark Order

That was basically my point. Sure, it's easy to point to Kyle Williams fumbles, which let's face it, were extremely costly in the framework of the game.

But, what I took away from the game, was how many times Alex Smith just made a poor throw/play. I think the 49ers could have put that game away on a few different drives.

Then again...

If you have Newton probably a good idea to keep Smith over Johnson considering I believe Smith was Newton's #1 target for TDs (1/3 of all the TD passes Newton had) although Johnson did have a down year and Newton ate up a lot of the team's TDs from rushing instead of passing.

I think calling The Eagles a dynasty is a joke. Especially the Michael Vick lead Eagles.

However I do believe The Eagles are going to be really good this year. I don't remember what I thought about them last year. I might have thought the same thing last year and if I did that would classify as a big failure. I do believe they are a legit Super Bowl contender this year.

You keep Johnson. Make Smith a priority to draft. Its not like he's going in the first round.

RP, you'd be surprised by some of the guys I'm in a draft with. One year one of them kept Janikowski as a keeper over Adrian Peterson and Reggie Wayne. Explain to me the logic there?

Also, I'm looking at my team setup like this, if all goes right that is.

QB-Cam Newton
QB-Matt Schaub
RB-Matt Forte
RB-Fred Jackson
RB-Jamal Charles
RB-Rashard Jennings
WR-Andre Johnson
WR-Steve Smith (Panthers)
WR-Eric FUCKING Decker
WR-Antonio Brown
TE-Rob Gronkowski
TE-Vernon Davis
K-Josh Scobee
K-Matt Prater
DST-Ravens
DST-Jaguars

Granted that's if none of these guys get snagged first. My biggest issue is that I suck at drafting running backs. Every year I get maybe 1 good one in the draft, but the other three always either get hurt or don't play and I'm stuck playing the waiver wire. Any suggestions for RB's RP?

I believe that'd be his 3rd torn ACL overall...pretty much eliminates any chance he gets a big contract again since the Giants would use their out to void the final 3 years of his current deal.

Also a million defensive injuries means we have to hope for the offense to be as lethal as it was last year. Not saying it can't be but it wouldn't hurt to have some balance.</font>

I thought the secondary played solid throughout last year but they got blown up in some games.

It all starts up front anyway. Need to really get the performance out of the defensive line. That's something I can say that we Giants fans have had the luxury of not worrying about for quite some time.

I think the defense has a lot of nice young players. I love some of the young linebackers the Giants have.

Browns got sold for about $1 billion with $700 million paid upfront and the rest as a later payment.

Bills and Redskins cleared of any Bounty-gate involvement from the time Gregg Williams helped coached both teams defenses before going to the Saints. Doesn't mean it never occurred there since a few claims have stated it did but the NFL's official stance was it didn't and there wasn't enough evidence for a punishment regardless.

Some potentially bad news involving refs as their union and the NFL still divided over a new deal which lead to the NFL stating the Hall of Fame game and potentially the entire pre-season could be played with replacement refs.

A deal has to be done within the next month or else replacement refs would be used in actual games for the season.

The NFL also is disallowing the media from publishing the names of the replacement officials so they don't get blacklisted by the union for future employment in the league. They also don't want them to start comparing the lack of experience the replacements have compared to the pro ones as part of any complaints about the quality of reffing dropping.

<font color=goldenrod>Fuck it, gonna quickly guess the Giants' Opening Day 53 before tonight's game. Most of them are locks, but whatever:

QB (2): Manning, Carr
RB (4): Bradshaw, Ware, Wilson, Scott
FB (1): Hynoski
WR (6): Nicks, Cruz, Hixon, Randle, Jernigan, David Douglas (fuck off Barden)
TE (3): Bennett, Pascoe, Adrien Robinson
OL (9): Beatty, Boothe, Baas, Snee, Diehl, Locklear, Petrus, Brewer, Mosley

DE (4): Tuck, Pierre-Paul, Umenyiora, Trattou
DT (4): Canty, Joseph, Bernard, Markus Kuhn (surprisingly beats out Shaun Rogers)
LB (8): Boley, Kiwanuka, Blackburn, Rivers, Jones, Williams, Herzlich, Paysinger
CB (5): Webster, Thomas, Amukamara, Hosley, Tryon
S (4): Rolle, Phillips, Will Hill, Janzen Jackson

K (1): Tynes
P (1): Weatherford
LS (1): DeOssie

Suspended (1): Sash
PUP (2): Beckum, Sintim

8 LBs may be a bit much, but fuck it's a hard choice since so many of them contribute on special teams. Paysinger is the one most likely to be cut in favor of another DB if necessary - although maybe he gets spared the first 4 games until Sash returns from suspension to make up the numbers.

The Thomas injury made me consider an extra DB since he could be ready anywhere from Opening Day to October. If the new IR rule got approved (where once a year you can IR somebody and pull them off of it) Thomas could be used for that while saving a roster spot for an extra DB.

Hey Vito, who would make a better impact on my fantasy team as my #2 WR? I've got Andre Johnson #1, but have the 3rd pick and am debating between Julio Jones and Victor Cruz. No bias please bro.

Julio Jones is slated to have a blockbuster year. I would not pass him up.

As much as I love Cruz, Jones is probably the safer bet. There's just no guarantee Cruz will be able to bust out a million 70 yard TDs again.

LOL @ the ending of the Giants game. They can't possibly let these replacement refs into a regular season game.

Fuck it, gonna quickly guess the Giants' Opening Day 53 before tonight's game. Most of them are locks, but whatever:

QB (2): Manning, Carr
RB (4): Bradshaw, Ware, Wilson, Scott
FB (1): Hynoski
WR (6): Nicks, Cruz, Hixon, Randle, Jernigan, David Douglas (fuck off Barden)
TE (3): Bennett, Pascoe, Adrien Robinson
OL (9): Beatty, Boothe, Baas, Snee, Diehl, Locklear, Petrus, Brewer, Mosley

DE (4): Tuck, Pierre-Paul, Umenyiora, Trattou
DT (4): Canty, Joseph, Bernard, Markus Kuhn (surprisingly beats out Shaun Rogers)
LB (8): Boley, Kiwanuka, Blackburn, Rivers, Jones, Williams, Herzlich, Paysinger
CB (5): Webster, Thomas, Amukamara, Hosley, Tryon
S (4): Rolle, Phillips, Will Hill, Janzen Jackson

K (1): Tynes
P (1): Weatherford
LS (1): DeOssie

Suspended (1): Sash
PUP (2): Beckum, Sintim

8 LBs may be a bit much, but fuck it's a hard choice since so many of them contribute on special teams. Paysinger is the one most likely to be cut in favor of another DB if necessary - although maybe he gets spared the first 4 games until Sash returns from suspension to make up the numbers.

I don't think I will ever be able to make a prediction of a team's opening day roster in any sport ever

Which Bengals got hurt?

Travelle Wharton, Offensive Lineman May be done for season
Ray Maualuga, Linebacker sprained his knee Carlos Dunlap, Defensive Lineman left with an undisclosed knee injury and finally, Taylor Mays, former Souther California stud and current defensive back left with symptoms of a concussion.

Yeah, those scab refs were pretty terrible. Between that and the muffed punts/kicks on both sides, that game was pretty ridiculous.

Was totally loving the Palmer to Robiske connection last night though.

<font color=goldenrod>If you think I'm pessimistic, you should read the Giants message board. So many people panicking about how Blaine Gabbert shredded the Giants' first string defense in the first drive of the year. It's laughable, really.

The only preseason game I remotely care about results-wise is Week 3, when you'd hope that your first string guys look ready to go. And even then all that really matters in pre-season is getting out of there healthy.</font>

THey look pretty good. Nowhere as busy as I thought it would look. The road uniforms will be the true litmus test. I wanna see them in action.

While we're on uniforms, let me go on record to say that I hate the way those flywire two tone collars look on road whites.

I'm happy as a pig in shit right now.

This bitch tripping over a box of condoms? BITCH COME THE FUCK ON!!! You are married to a pro athlete. Infidelity is about as common as leaving the toilet seat up.

<font color=goldenrod>Fairly certain Chad's career is over. He's getting on in years, looked clueless last year, and is off to a cracking start this year. Can't really have any sympathy for a guy arrested for domestic violence. I thought his chances of making the Dolphins were pretty slim to begin with, but this just seals it.</font>

Same woman who ended up causing Antoine Walker to become broke when they divorced. Later it was found out she was "hiding" a lot of his money claimed as gifts and refused to give any of it back as part of Walker's bankruptcy case.

Although safe to assume Chad's career or at least in Miami is going to be over next week assuming the stuff TMZ has reported ends up being true.
