Chelsea. :(. Seriously, if Jacko comes here and says Gudjonsen played well, I am going to <s>locate his seat at Stamford Bridge and punch him in the face </s> give him a bad rep.

Lampard needs a rest, Veron should play in his position against Aston Villa next game.

It was actually a good game, Boro have been one of the better teams I've seen play this season, there link up play when going on attacks is very impressive.

I wouldn't get too excited about Leeds quite yet. They've beaten the team with the worst home record in the premiership, even we beat them and we hadn't won away all season and they beat Leicester at home and that was only because of a really late goal after it looked like they'd let it slip.

Don't get me wrong, good on them for getting the points but i dont think they're out of it yet.

Yeah,i think(and hope) that we'll win at Blackburn.

Leeds' first against us was offside also.

I honestly can't see them scoring too many without Viduka,i mean he's got like 4 in 4 and Smith has probably got that amount in 8 or 10.

Melchiot.:wtf:

Mutu has also been quite poor,Crespo has looked ok most of the time though.

Dazz
04-12-2004, 12:09 PM
Melchiot should be subbed for Gallas. He is letting Baryy piss all over him, he gives Barry a ridicoulous amount of time on the ball, way too much of it, then Barry just whips in a ball for Crouch.

Mutu's problem is that he keeps tracking back into midfield, and that he keeps taken the ball off other players, and then has no options because Crespo is up there on his own and being marked by a load of them. Mutu might as well be subbed because he can't score for shit. He should also start playing in midfield as he has the best work rate in the team and is very creative.

Dazz
04-12-2004, 01:02 PM
Righto, here is my opinion:

Aston Villa are one of the teams I now like in the Premiership, they don't cheat, they have a young squad, they play well together, they made it fu</>cking hard for Chelsea out there today. Jay Lloyd Samuel, Barry, Hendrie and Hitzspilger are very good. Crouch looks like a retarded goofball.

Ranieri needs to sort himself out, Melchiot was at fault for the first and second goals, and partly the third, since he gave away the throw. And then to bring off an attacker, fair enough Mutu was never likely to score, but to play with a lone striker when you need 2 goals is fu</>cking ridiculous. When he said that he has conceded the league title to the Arse, I didn't realise he meant he has also conceded second place to United :|. Still, Ranieri should be given at least till christmas.

Crespo should be the man more often, that was a great goal at the end, and he was in the right place for the first, he set up Joey Cole for a good chance but it was slightly high for Cole, but Cole should have done better. If Gronkjaer whipped that ball to Crespo near the end after beating the attacker for pace, I think we would have drawn 3-3.

Lampard needs a rest, he is too tired, let either Veron (I know he was injured in the warm up) or Mutu play in his position next match, we need him for the final 4 league games of the season.

Huth is the fuc</>king man, he is solid, always puts his body in the way of the ball, and belted that free kick, shame it wasn't on target. :$

I said this last season, and I will say it again, we should sell all our dutch players, Jimmy is more toruble then he is worth, Melchiot has been rubbish for 2 years, Zenden is the only one I like, and he won't want to stay with us.

Cactus Sid
04-12-2004, 01:19 PM
HUTH is indeed the man

Liverpool proved once again they are sh</>ite, and its the same old story. Win a few, lose a few. It masks the fact that Houllier is doing a terrible job, and as far as I'm concerned I don't care if we qualify for the Champions League or not, he's got to go. We are not seriously up sh</>it creek. Newcastle need a win to go 2 points clear, and if Charlton win their game in hand they go ahead of us, its a fu</>cking travesty. Even Villa, Birmingham, Middlesbrough and if they win tonight Fulham, are within 3-4 points of us, its completely shambolic.

Mr. Monday Morning
04-12-2004, 01:19 PM
Man, Dave Jones is tearing Uriah Rennie a new one in the post-match interview. I've never heard him go off at a ref like that :o

Still, having said that, *another* last minute goal conceded :-\ Eh, there's still a chance but we need to win at least 3 of our last 5, and I'm not sure we can.

Plain truth of it is you can't ship goals like we have and stay up. Defence is not good enough; Irwin should've retired at the end of last season, Butler and Craddock are by turns ok and shockingly retarded, and Lee Naylor is barely good enough for Div 1. I'm not so sure it was that bright of an idea to bring in Paul Jones when Michael Oakes was doing the best he could either.

I hope we can keep the basis of the squad together cause we should be able to come straight back up. For some reason Camara's on fire right now (4 in 4...why couldn't he play like this from the start? :| ) and Cort should score buckets in the Nationwide. We're gonna have to replace at the least Alex Rae, which will be difficult cause he's by far and away our best player this year and Colin Cameron is not good enough. We've still got Jo Lescott to come back though and if we ship out some of the dead wood like Iversen, Blake and so on, I'm pretty hopeful to come back.

I just hope West Brom f</>uck up and have to stay down

04-12-2004, 01:22 PM
Yeah good stuff from Crespo.

I think you're being harsh on Ranieri though, after all Chelsea are 6 points ahead of United(probably 3 after tomorrow) and i think even if you guys lose at OT then you'll be ahead on goal diffference. If you finish 2nd and maybe get to the champions league final then i think Ranieri should should get that extension to his contract for 2 or 3 years.Considering what he has done this year, unless next season starts very badly for Chelsea, that giving him to Christmas would be unfair.

On the substitions i agree,i would've bought Gudjohnsen on as even though he's said to be lazy he could be dangerous.I reckon we are in the same boat on opinions about our clubs' managers decisions cause i often wonder what Adams is doing(mainly in playing Scowcroft) but the rest of the fans love him, same for Ranieri.

I though i read Zenden wanted to go back to Chelsea a while back though, unless he can get a move back to Spain.

Pompey are safe i reckon, have to see how Leeds go without Viduka but Blackburn are looking too poor now anyways so i think Wolves,Leicester and Blackburn after these games.

Mr. Monday Morning
04-12-2004, 01:33 PM
As a thought, I don't think any of the clubs fixing to come up are going to poise a problem as it stands. West Brom *might* have a chance if they come up due to their experience but I wouldn't count on it. Norwich's main weapon is Darren Huckerby...nuff said. Only team I can imagine having a chance is actually Sunderland, though they'll need beefing up too.

Wengerland
04-12-2004, 01:41 PM
Yeah that's what is pretty annoying,we didn't play West Brom or Sunderland last year i don't think any other team has looked better than Wolves and Leicester.I guess considering how many each promoted side bought in in the summer i should give them a chance.West Brom, for me,come across as lucky quite often,i mean they haven't seemed prolific at home and they definetly won't win so many away in the premiership.

I guess we won't have much of a squad left if we go down, most players were bought in until the end of the season with a view to extensions so that we wouldn't have a financial problem if we went down.Morris and Dickov up front could be good.

Rob
04-12-2004, 03:46 PM
At the end of the day, Wolves aren't good enough to stay up. But even their biggest haters have to admit they have had practically every decision and piece of luck go against them this season.

Personally, I think Wigan might stand a decent chance of doing something next season if they go up. They have the resouces and the fanbase so you never know.

Rob Ban Fan
04-12-2004, 04:10 PM
I dunno about them having the fanbase but they've got the stadium and a decent squad, I think they're a very under rated team.

Today was greatness, Eyal Berkovic had a fight right infront of me  the place went mental when Taylor handballed it and the ref was aweful, he was lucky we scored from that freekick and we finally got a penalty, I couldn't believe it

Birmingham brought what looked like the minimum allocation, they didn't sing, you couldn't even hear them when they scored and they started sneaking out with 20 mintues left :|! They didn't look anything special to be honest, if they dont keep Forssell or get a replacement I think they're going to be in trouble next season. We'll see eh?

The Mackem
04-12-2004, 04:21 PM
I'm pretty sure any team that goes up from the first division will go straight back down. Norwich have excellent loan signings but can they do it two seasons running? West Brom have improved their team but I guess are still not good enough to survive in the Premiership and well we have a squad cut back to his his bones since last season and probably don't have the resources to stay up. Most of the teams in Division 1 are far too inconsistent, they could beat a team in a similar position to them one week and then the next get totally hammered by a bottom side.

04-12-2004, 04:53 PM

I though i read Zenden wanted to go back to Chelsea a while back though, unless he can get a move back to Spain.

I never said I wanted Ranieri out though, I am not your average fickle fan, I think he has done a good job this season, but it is clear that we will never win the league unless he gets rid of some shit players, and starts playing our best players more, to really hit form you need to have a good run in the team.

The match at Old Trafford isn't my only worry, Leeds at home will be tough as shit, seriously, look what they did last year against the Arse on the second to last game, 3-2, kept them up, I can see that again, as again, its right near the end of the season. Also, playing Newcastle at their gaff is going to be tough. I really think second spot is Uniteds.

Zenden has said he wants to play Champions League football, but he also wants to play regulary, he is not garunteed that at Chelsea, I would be shocked if he stays, I think he will just stay at Boro and play in the UEFA Cup.

Personally I think all it takes to stay up is a good goalkeeper and defence. When we played Southampton we were in the relegation places and Southampton were comfortable midtable. Both teams had scored the exact same number of goals for the season, the only difference was the number conceded and talking to Adam and looking back if we hadn't had defencive lapses against Charlton, Man City, Arsenal, Blackburn etc at the beginning of the season when we were on top during games we wouldn't be where we are now.

And looking at the number of goals Leicester have let in in the last few minutes aswell, just shows all you need is a good defence.

Mr. Monday Morning

Wengerland
04-13-2004, 12:26 PM
Yeah,i thought Dabizas would have done better for us.I'd prefer to seen the old defense more of a chance because for a lot of last season it was the best in the country.

We've improved a fair bit, clean sheets against Liverpool,Birmingham and Wolves within the last 8 games or so,the Leeds game was quite a blip and looking back to the Fulham game i felt we were unlucky seeing as the lads thought the offside flag was going up on the first and the second was just a breakaway goal, can't be faulted for that.

If we had 5 points from the Middlesbrough and Wolves away games which we should have won then things would be better.

If you go to skysports.com on a saturday then they have the audio of the guys who watch matches and summarise. They go to reports a lot too.

Anyway,1-0 defeat but not as bad as i thought,if show that much passion against sides like Blackburn on saturday and maybe Charlton then we could still have a chance of staying up.Overall i think the lads did well, got into a slight argument with my dad about it too cause he was just constantly criticising the team.

Shame about the one defensive lapse from Dabizas because United, apart from a few Ronaldo efforts didn't look like getting another.Also,3rd time in 3 games that stupid offside decisions have cost us goals and probably points.

Cactus Sid
04-13-2004, 06:05 PM
They played well for what they had. Obviously they don't create a whole hell of a lot, but they battle hard, and at set pieces they look really dangerous.

Didn't rate United at all tonight, just like they've played for most of the season, they just seem to lack the cutting-edge that Arsenal have, but to be fair they do grind out results.

Still at a loss about why the United goal stood, 3 players offside? Or is it this new "rule" thing? I dunno.

Wengerland
04-13-2004, 06:14 PM
Exactly,Saha was way offside and the ball was played in his direction(fair enough it went past him to Ronaldo) but he's still the one the players have pushed up to catch offside.

This new rule is completely crap, its like they thought ' hmm, these linesmen are making a few bad calls....i know why don't we make it even harder for them.'

Seriously they should just go back to flagging anyone who is offside, not bother whether they are interfering or not seeing as if they aren't interfering then why are they on the pitch, stood in that sort of position?

I think they will stay up, not because of that point, I cans ee them being at least 3 points clear of the drop zone. Leicester and Wolves are goners, just a question of who goes with them, Pompey have to face Arsenal and United still, I don't like their chances of survival. :'(

Gee, it's gonna be a real shame if the three teams that were just promoted all go down straight away.

But apart from Leeds, most of the teams in the relegation battle (Wolves, Pompey, Leicester, Blackburn, Man City) have all been promoted in the last few years anyway.

Here's the remaining fixtures for the 6 clubs in real relegation trouble (Totts and Everton are mathematical chances, but I don't think they'll sink that far in 6 games)

Wolves
v Boro
@ Birmingham
v Everton
@ Newcastle
v Tottenham

As it stands, Wolves are 9 points from safety. So they'd have to win every game at home, and get at least an away point against Newcastle or Birmingham. That is, provided every other team loses as well. In short, Wolves are doomed - Sorry MMM

Leicester
@ Blackburn
v Man City
@ Charlton
v Pompey
@ Arsenal

I'm not sure that Leicester are as doomed as they appear. 3 of their remaining games are against sides at the wrong end of the table, 2 of which are home games. Not to mention the away game at Ewood Park, where Blackburn haven't managed a win in ages. Charlton with renewed hope of Champions League football may be a bit of a tough one, though. On the last day of the season, they travel to Highbury, where Arsenal has likely already sealed the title. They could field an understrength side for this one, but just remember last year after they lost the title against Leeds, they fielded a side which thumped Southampton 6-1. I wouldn't be writing Leicester off yet, though. The upcoming Leicester games will probably shape this relegation battle.

Leeds
@ Arsenal
v Portsmouth
@ Bolton
v Charlton
@ Chelsea

Leeds have had some shocking losses this season, (4-0 Leicester, 4-0 Everton, 6-1 Pompey, 4-1 Arsenal, 4-1 Birmingham etc.) and have a very poor goal difference of -29. Simply put, they have to beat the other teams on points, because if they're level, Leeds will drop due to goal difference. They have a very important game against Pompey, who have a game in hand on their rivals. They have three very tricky games to come, away to Arsenal and Chelsea, and home to Charlton. Leeds can pull a result out of their arses when it counts though, as they did last season at Highbury. Chelsea may become a different proposition if second spot is sealed for either them or Manyoo. They also have to play Bolton at Reebok, where Bolton has only managed 2 wins since the turn of the year, both 1-0. For a side that was playing a Champions League semi only 3 years ago, this is a very important period for the club. Time for the Smiths and Vidukas to shine. I tip Leeds to survive, if only just.

Portsmouth
v Arsenal (Postponed)
v Manyoo
@ Leeds
v Fulham
@ Leicester
v Boro

Portsmouth probably have the hardest set of fixtures to come, having to host both Manyoo and Arsenal before the end of the season. That being said, they do have a game in hand, and any points taken from these 2 matches is a bonus. They are capable of taking points from top sides too, as they have at Highbury earlier in the season. They also have to travel to Elland Road and the Walkers, two games which will again shape this battle. Both Leeds and Leicester will really aim up in these games, which promise to be very entertaining. They also host Fulham, where the faint hope that Fulham can qualify for Europe will make this a tough game. Lastly, they host Boro who have a poor away record. I'd love to see Portsmouth stay up because of their fans  (and this is from a Gooner), and I'd say they're about 50-50.

Blackburn
v Leicester
@ Everton
v Manyoo
@ Tottenham
v Birmingham

Blackburn are less than a game above the drop zone. Their form against other sides from the bottom of the table has been atrocious (1-1 Man City, 2-1 losses to Portsmouth and Leeds). If this form continues, it makes the games against Leicester, Everton and Tottenham very interesting. They also have to play against Manyoo, who will be holding onto hope of 2nd place, and Birmingham who are dreaming of Europe. You can never trust Blackburn, they bounce around the table like a yo-yo. Last season was a good one for them, they even did the double over Arsenal. This is very much like the year when they went from champions to division 1. I will make a bold prediction, Blackburn will go down because you just can't trust them to get a win, can ya?.

Manchester City
v Southampton
@ Leicester
v Newcastle
@ Boro
v Everton

7 wins. This whole season, Manchester City have had 7 wins. The only teams worse than that are Wolves and Leicester (5 wins), and as it stands, they are in deep, deep shit. 13 draws, 13 losses. Basically, Man City win once every 5 games. Which means they probably will only win one of their remaining fixtures, and tie or lose the rest. I know a draw is better than a loss, but just..barely. At least what games they have lost, haven't been by much. If Man City can stay level with their rivals, they will survive, because they have the best goal difference of -1. Their last win was against Manyoo, and that seems a long time ago, doesn't it? I really can't trust Man City to take enough points from these games to survive, though they probably will take some points from Boro and Leicester. My pick is, Man City are 50-50 to go down.

Well we also haven't won a home game this year so that need to change,Popmey were able to get something from Charlton so if they go complacent we may have a chance there.I was thinking the same thing about Arsenal myself a few days ago but then i remembered that they're unbeaten all season,if they haven't lost going into the last game i can't see them fielding a poor side, especially after being knocked out of Europe.

I'm afraid we have drawn too many aswell.

No-one's games against the top teams(out of the bottom clubs) will matter really, they'll be expected to lose so anything positive is a bonus.

E.g tonight,i was pleased to see more passion for the cause and, although they were below average,we matched a Man Utd team for a while.

But out of the games remaining, Leeds definitely need to take some points from a top club. Even if they beat Bolton and Pompey, I'm not sure it will be enough to ensure they survive.

PFA PLAYER OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS

Thierry Henry
Patrick Vieira
Alan Shearer
Frank Lampard
Jay-Jay Okocha
Steven Gerrard

PFA YOUNG PLAYER OF THE YEAR

John Terry
Glen Johnson
Scott Parker
Wayne Rooney
Kolo Toure
Shaun Wright-Phillips

Personally I'd go with

1- Thierry Henry
2- Steven Gerrard
3- Frank Lampard

1- Shaun Wright-Phillips
2- John Terry
3- Kolo Toure

Basically, Henry has been beyond amazing this season, he has to win the award. I out Gerrard just ahead of Lampard because Gerrard has single handedly taken Liverpool to within Champions League contention. Without him, we'd be battling Relegation, I honestly believe that. Lampard has been immense, but his impact on the team hasn't been what Gerrard's has been at Liverpool.

Shaun Wright-Phillips should get the award, not because he's had a better season than Terry or Toure, but because he is the breakout player of the season. He's come a really long way from the start of the season, and I think that deserves the award. Terry just ahead of Toure, because Terry has proved he is the best centre back in the country this season.

I 100% agree there Rob.

Jay Jay was much better last season, and has been rubbish this season. Melchiot plays much more then Johnson, also Johnson does score the odd good goal, he doesn't play regulary and has a bad attitude problem.

I think Forssell should be there, the guy has been great, and if Ranieri doesn't bring him back and play him next season, I will not be suprised as he won't be there. But whoever is manager better bring him and Bolo back.

Didn't see the game so I can't comment on what happened though I would like to hear SO TELL ME :(.

Well Villa dominated the first 10 minutes and O'Brien got sent off for wrestling Vassell to the ground when he was the last man. Newcastle then got fairly comfortable with 10 men (Viana came on for Robert and Jenas off for Bowyer).

Vassell had a goal ruled out right before half time for supposedly tripping Aaron Hughes, but to be honest was a bad decision.

Craig Bellamy limped off after about 15 minutes of the second half with a hamstring injury .

The game boiled over towards the end, particularly with Hendrie's play acting and targeting of Gary Speed. Given was time wasting all match and got booked in like the last minute. Good point for Newcastle under the circumstances. Villa only had 1 shot on target all match.

This is exactly what happened. EXCEPT, you clearly see Vassells right foot (accidently) hit the ground,w hcih is why he went down, but O'Briends hand was on Vassel so it looked bad from the refs point of view.

Vassell was unlucky for the ruled out goal, but as they pointed out after the match, he didnt complain that it was ruled out.

Hey hey, we're not Liverpool or anything :D

Looks like the board are letting Ferguson do some major signing, thankfully they've realised what a threat Chelsea are.

We're meant to have bid Forlan and 20m+ for Torres from Atletico and rumour has it that 20m and Butt and Forlan were offered to Everton for Rooney earlier this week.

I reckon we could see two major signings this summer. Hopefully Torres and Van der Vaart and a couple people leaving like Butt and Forlan. Plus we'll have Liam Miller  and probably a defender though once Brown and Rio are both fit and availible we should be able to manage.

The Gary Neville Diaries

Monday
Still can't believe he sent those text messages to yukky girls too. Everyone knows girls smell. Have been crying every night for a week. Told Mum it was Phil's fault and she made him stand in the corner. Even when his wife was there. Ha.

Still got one text message from him. The special one - 'I'm going to hold you down and **** your *******'.

Later: Have looked in Mum's crossword dictionary. Thicko spelt 'shave' and 'moustache' wrong.

Tuesday
"And the ball falls to the brilliant Gary Neville with his lovely thick moustache and he makes no mistake and lashes home the ball. The crowd go wild - there's nobody these Old Trafford fans love more than Gary Neville...And there's Sir Alex Ferguson with a tear in his eye. He loves Gary and his thick moustache like a son..."

Sir even patted me on the back and said 'Well done, Phil'.

Bet Rebecca 'Stinky' Loos (ha) couldn't score against Leicester.

Wednesday
Gave Sir the tea cosy I knitted to match the doilies. Think he liked it because I saw him smile when he showed it to Keano. Maybe I should do one for him too. In green :-) Then maybe he won't tie my shoelaces together again :-(

Went to Mum's for tea. Ran the length of the kitchen to appeal her decision to let Phil lick out the cake bowl. Made Mum cry but at least I got to lick out the bowl!

Moustache definitely looks thicker today.

Thursday
Said 'howdy' to Tim in training and he told me to '****ing **** off you little ****'. Said 'yo' to Rio and he said exactly the same. Maybe this Tourettes thing is spreading. Would tell Sir but think he's got it too.

Saw 'Stinky' Loos on TV. She looks really smelly. Tried to draw a little moustache (not mustach, thicko) on her face but she kept moving.

Update: This marker was permanent. Mum says I need to buy her a new TV.

Friday
Not fair, not fair, not fair. Graham Poll is in the papers saying I'm a diver but Mum says I can't call The Sun and say he's got a big bum. It's not fair because he started it. And he has got a big bum.

Saturday
"And the ball falls to the brilliant Gary Neville with his lovely thick moustache and he tries an audacious overhead kick. Is nothing beyond the talents of Old Trafford's favourite son? But a cheating, handballing nobody who plays for a nothing team pushes the ball over the bar to deny brave Neville, his thick moustache and the greatest team in the whole wide world yet another goal..."

The referee didn't crack like Mum did. He didn't even cry. Gave Matt 'Who?' Taylor my nastiest glare after the game. And then I saw his Mum and glared at her too. His Dad was bigger than me so stopped there.

Sunday
There's another yukky girl in the papers telling yukky stories about how yukky David made her feel so yucking special. How can he do this to me?

Watched a programme about skin grafts - they take the skin from a place that nobody sees and put it in the place where you need the skin. Has given me an idea about thickening my moustache...

The Comet Kid
04-20-2004, 03:08 PM
I heard a rumour that Bruno Cheyrou is the new Zidane, Chelsea could buy him :D

Whats wrong with Torres? :?:

Rob
04-20-2004, 03:36 PM
Nothing. I just don't think he is any better than Forlan really and we need more age up front anyways since we will have Ronaldo (and Joaquin with any luck) in midfield.

The Mask
04-20-2004, 03:39 PM
We need another left winger too really, cause giggs can be awesome or utter shite, during any given match. joaquin is right wing, right? and i think ronaldo can play on the left so that could work, but still

I think we're going to have to find a good defensive midfielder and another good forward, along with some world class defenders. We don't have much depth anyway so I don't think we need to sell anyone bar the dead weight.

Rob
04-20-2004, 03:53 PM
I thought about Ronaldo up front and on the left but I still want both Joaquin and VDV.

The Comet Kid
04-20-2004, 11:03 PM
Its likely to be Joaquin or VDV not both, couldnt afford both and it'd be a bit unneccessary.

Id rather have VDV, he can play on the left, in the scholes role or upfront. Forlans pretty certain to go, hes not happy at Old Trafford anymore and its pretty obvious we're in the market for a striker. Torres and Rooney are the two we're alledged to have bid for and we're scouting a 21 year old from parma whos scored 17 goals this season already, and thats pretty good considering its the Serie A and hes so young. Kezman from PSV is going for 6m and hes got a good record so I hope we at least give him a look.

Next year we'll have Keane, Phil Neville, Djemba Djemba and Miller capable of playing as a defensive mid fielder and we may or may not have Butt (probably not).

If it was me Id go for Torres, VDV and Vincent Kompany and sell Forlan, Giggs and Butt. Should get about 20m for those 3 which would really help our buying power.

There is a chance he'll never play for Brazil again anyway. Juninho plays for Boro and gets a game for them. Gilberto, Edu and Kleberson all still get call ups and they play here. The Brazilian squad has many many players in their squad over the years from clubs a lot smaller than Bolton.
