Also, hopefully we can get a point tomorrow. If we get a point or a win, im sure we'll stay up, if we lose then we're right back in it.
My tip is Leeds to win tonight. Only because we know what they can do with their backs against the wall. But my money's on Leeds or Man City following Wolves and Leicester down :(

I know this isn't Premiership talk, but it's still football talk.
This afternoon I just saw extended highlights of the Athens derby between Panathinaikos and Olympiakos which ended up being 2-2. F</>ucking hell, I have NEVER seen so many flares being let off at the one time (when Panathinaikos went 1-0 up). Behind that goal about 10 were ripped before the penalty taker took his shot, so there was a fair bit of smoke when the penalty was taking place, and when he scored it, about 40 more were ripped and chucked everywhere. That entire goalie area was covered with flares and most of the ground was covered in smoke. The game had to be stopped for a few minutes so the cops could get all the flares off the pitch
Still I was sitting there going HOLY SH</>IT  :|
Hopefully it's like that for the Olympics. :D
Oh and just quietly, go Leeds for tonight.

last season all you did was talk about how shite beckham is :foc:
I know, he was, even at the start of this season when there was talk of us signing him I didn't like him. I still think that he is overrated. I always stuck up for his work rate, crosses, free kicks, but that was it. He has been great at Madrid though, and after seeing Gronkjaer as a winger for years, anyone who can stick the ball onto an attackers head now has my vote.
And Ronaldo apparently (prolly misquoted but still) said that he would follow Beckham to Chelsea.

Yes indeedy, maybe in training, Becks could keep whipping the ball in, it would be good practice for the defence to try and clear some crosses, and it would be good practice for the attack to attack some crosses.

Beckham dived tonight, some matey stuck him legs out as Becks was walking to get the ball, and it made contact with Becks, and he jumped up in the air, landed on the ground holding his foot, got up, still holding his foot, at first I thought it was a foul, and the other player should have been booked, but replies suggest otherwise. Dumb thing is it was right in front of the lino.
Ronaldinho's chip for their first goal was hot. He did the right thing turning down Man U, he is loved at Barca and fits in well with their play.

Div 1 isnt that bad anyway, entertaining football, lots of goals, good atmopsheres, grounds with character. It'll be a big culture shock to Leeds though. Like when West Ham went to Millmoore and refused to use the changing rooms or whatever.
I think Wolves will make a quick return anyway with the squad they've got, I dunno what players Leicester are going to keep or get rid of but Micky Adams is a good manager and his teams work hard so i wouldn't be suprised to see them up there. I can see Leeds staying down though because they wont be able to hang on to the likes of Milner, Smith, Viduka, Pennant, Robinson and the others.
City would lose Anelka, Fowler, Tarnat etc but if they could keep hold of people like Joey Barton and Shaun Wright-Phillips then they'd probably get back up too. Although im not too sure how badly in debt they are and if they'd HAVE to sell Barton and SWP or whatever :$</font>

Well, what a joke the PFA awards are.
John Terry not even third in young player of the year? Anyone with half a clue about football knows that he should have won that award.
And Shawn Wright Phillips coming second? Not being funny, he isn't bad or anything, and nor is Rooney, but Mikkael Forssell is better, if his name was Michael Foreman or some shit he would have been up the award, but because he isn't English he gets overlooked. I know Toure was in there, but seriously, Glenn Johnson wouldn't be there if he wasn't English.

I have to agree with Dazz in that Terry has been immense and I thought he would have walked it personally :$. Henry on the other hand was a no brainer.
I don't think RVN has had a particularly good season at all and I think Shearer has been better but then I guess I'm biased.
Seriosuly, Terry not being in the top three takes the piss, I thought it was obvious who would in the award. The guy was England captain (albeit for 10 minutes) and has been the reason why we have the second best defence in the league. Campbell has been the reason Arsenal have the best defence, not Toure, Terry has been the reason why we have the second best defence, as Gallas has been injured and played right back a fair bit, leaving Desially ( :nono: ) in the middle.
On a side note, Shearer's balls are black and blue from Huth stamping on them . But huth will get a three game

He'll probably stay but if Houllier and Owen go and they dont get Champions League again then Arsenal is going to look incredibly tempting.
There are all sorts of rumours about Chelsea in the summer so who knows about Terry.

In place of Gilberto most likely, since he'll probably be on his way.

So *that's* why Edu played the majority of the 2nd half of the season.
You make it sound like they're identical types of players, when they're not. Gilberto is a purely defensive midfielder, and let's face it, Brazil don't have too many of those. Edu is a far better all round player, he's not as good on the defensive side of things but he ain't bad, and he's a far better passer of the ball and attacking midfielder.

Yeah Edu played something like 11 consecutive games but thats hardly the second half of the season. Gilberto has played with an injury since around october and will be having surgery in the summer. Hes practically been first choice for 1 and a half seasons just that this injury obviously slowed him down and then when EDU came in he proved himself worthy of staying in the side. I think it's no coincidence that gilberto has been playing after giving his injury some rest

If they sign him, they've got a quality partner for Terry, maybe move Gallas out to Right Back. He's Left footed as well.

Edu can do most of the things Gilberto does, and do them nearly as well.
Gilberto can't do some of the things Edu does, and what he can do, some of it isn't as good (i.e. forward runs, finishing)

They could probably go 5-3-2 with Makalele/Parker, Lampard and Duff as the 3, Bridge on the left, Johnson on the right. Would more than compensate for the full-backs' defensive shortcomings and allow them to get forward more, which they both do pretty well. You'd lose some width but Duff is good enough to wreak havoc in a free role

Have Bolton signed Rivaldo yet?!?!
Mr. Monday Morning
04-30-2004, 10:28 AM
Not yet
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bolton_wanderers/3651125.stm
Bolton are growing impatient in the wait to hear whether Brazilian star Rivaldo will move to the club.
Frustrated manager Sam Allardyce will give the 32-year-old midfielder a "few days" to make up his mind.
"I'm disappointed that we haven't got a decision one way or the other, but that also means there's still hope.
"We'll have a cut-off time that will be considered as more than enough time for him to make a decision. That will the be it, we'll move on," Allardyce said.
Allardyce fears Rivaldo's representatives are stalling while they look to secure a better deal elsewhere.
"If there's not a positive move in a few days then we'd have to call time on it," he added.
"It might suggest that our offer is being touted about to see if it could be bettered elsewhere. We don't want to work like that."
The former world and European player of the year accepted Bolton's financial terms in talks with the club before returning to Brazil to consult family members.
The player's UK-based agent Peter Harrison said everything looked positive after the talks and rejected rumours that rival clubs' attempts to hijack the deal were the reason for the delay in its completion.
Harrison said: "I've heard stories about other clubs but as far as I'm concerned that's not true.
"He just wants to discuss it at home. There is no hurry because he cannot play for Bolton this season."
He added: "Things are okay. I am still very, very positive.
"Rivaldo's agent has acted very professionally throughout and I am hopeful there will be some news over the weekend."
The former AC Milan and Barcelona playmaker is a free agent having left Brazilian club Cruzeiro in March after just 11 games.
He would become the latest international star to join Bolton after French World Cup winner Youri Djorkaeff, Nigerian star Jay-Jay Okocha and former Real Madrid man Ivan Campo.
However, he quit the Brazilian club two months later in solidarity with coach Wanderley Luxemburgo, who resigned then withdrew his threat to quit and was then sacked.
Rivaldo had gone back to Brazil having had his contract at AC Milan terminated in November, after a brief spell at the San Siro.
Before that he enjoyed better spells in Spanish football, with Deportivo La Coruna and then Barcelona, who signed him from Deportivo for £16m in 1997.
In 1999 he was named world and European footballer of the year after helping Barca win the Spanish league.

You know, I agree with you there, our full backs can't defend for shit and three at the back sounds like a good option. Shame we have like ten top midfielders, if we limit the space in midfield, then Lampard and Makelele would always have two of them, and Parker, Cole, Veron, Duff, Geremi, Gronkjaer will all have to compete for one space, so I can't see it happening.
And Wengerland, keep the faith. Wolves might aswell give up though.

It was definitley worthy, the ball was in the air, and Viduka went for the header, but just before he does it, you can see him look where the Bolton player is, and then swing his left arm in his face, but as Viduka got the ball, so he thought it looked like it was an accident so was shocked he got sent off, but it was definitley worth at least a booking.

Did you read that Barry Fry wants Peterborough to strike a deal with Victoria and David Beckham, which would mean Peterborough has 'Posh and Becks' as their sponsor next season. but :| at the same time.

yeah,lol that would be odd.
I do like Peterborough but within the last few years Victoria has tried to sue them over the posh nickname so i don't think they should be trying that again.
Why would anyone play for free? It's a business and if the business is making money then you deserve to make money. If bad business decisions take the business into administration then why should the players suffer?
This is coming from a Dundee fan and my team is £15 million in the hole but I don't think the players should play for free either. It's a job and you deserve to be paid for it.

Yeah i wouldn't play for free cause at the end of the day you have to provide for yourself and most likely a family at some point.
Just maybe a drop to about £8,000 or something,i should think that's affordable. for Leeds and Smith.

That's why I said "I'd like to think" that's what I'd do.
What that DOESN'T account for is your whole argument, which is what I was trying to say
Yeah its hard to do things if you ar ein that situation, I'd like to think that if I played for Chelsea I would ask for like £2000 a week. but really if I did get offered a contract, I woud prolly want like £30,000.
Apparently, Leeds might have points docked going into next season, because as of when they are offically relegated (next game) they are then controlled by the football league, and as they are in administration, they get points docked. Stupid rule if you ask me.

Is that what they call "kicking him when he's down"?
Wengerland
05-02-2004, 02:57 PM
Yeah, all they should do is maybe put a transfer embargo thing over them until they are satisfied.Maybe let them buy a few guys who are free.
I am quite biased though cause of what happened here, but any points docked should be a maximum of 3,imo.

Can Leeds come straight back up?
Or will they even get relegated again if they lost points (9 I believe)?

Back to football, Just watching the Leeds game now, Viduka :|. LOL at Ian Harte scoring an own goal, also, the way he scored the own goal was funny. The little boy with tits and 'Leeds Till I die' written on his body is about the only Leeds fan I even partyl feel sorry for, but I still laughed at him.
lol :D Harte is so shit its not funny.
Except instead its hilarious.

I suppose I'd rather my team be playing in Div 1 and banging 5 goals past sub-standard opponents every week than all this grief just trying to survive

Thank fu</>ck Leeds are down, they deserved everything they got, hell, even Wolves are ahead of them now.
Also, Liverpool  I was looking at the team thinking, with the exception of Kewell, that is the exact same side that won the League Cup Final last season, and we were amazing, stuttered for about 15 minutes in the Second Half, but that is the best I have seen us play this season. Its a shame it took Houllier 34 Games to work out what our best team was.
