NEW YORK YANKEES REPORT
C - Ivan Rodriguez Sucks Balls. Jose Molina Sucks Balls.
1B - Jason Giambi Sucks Balls. Plz let him go
2B - Robinson Cano, my favorite player is terrible offensively and defensively
SS - Derek Jeter is having a somewhat down year but actually improved defensively
3B - I <3 A-Rod
LF - Johnny Damon. Yeah.
CF - No.
RF - Robert "Bob" Abreu is the worst defensive outfielder in MLB this year.
XAVIER NADYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
Mike Mussina is the only reason to watch the team. Who the fuck would have thought? He better be coming back next year instead of Pettitte who is inconsistent as hell. I don't want to talk about the rest of the rotation. The bullpen also sucks now too, except Mariano Rivera is the best pitcher of all-time.
NEXT YEAR
C - Jorge Posada
1B - Mark Teixieria
2B - Robinson Cano
SS - Derek Jeter
3B - Alex Rodriguez
LF - Johnny Damon
CF - Austin Jackson
RF - Xavier Nady
DH - Hideki Matsui
BN - Wilson Betemit
BN - Jose Molina
BN - Melky Cabrera
SP - CC Sabathia
SP - Chien Ming-Wang
SP - Joba Chamberlain
SP - Mike Mussina
SP - Phil Hughes
CL - Mariano Rivera
RP - Brian Bruney
RP - Jose Veras
RP - Edwarrrrrrrr Ramirez
RP - Damaso Marte
RP - Alfredo Aveces
RP - PHIL COKE
Yeah then everyone will get hurt and we'll have Bartolo Colon, Mike Hampton and Chet Steadman in the starting rotation

Nah dont be...Im just fucking done with the D'Backs. tonight was the last straw pretty much. They took a 2 run lead right away...held it until the 6th, gave it up and then let the Giants push it to 2 runs in the 8th...Then tie it up in the 9th and the bullpen just goes and fucking blows it.
They dont want it. They had a 4.5 game lead two weeks ago and they let your fucking Dodgers wreck them home and away even though they'd lost 10 straight.
Now the Dodgers have the momentum and the D'Backs are fucked.

Bold words, Mr. Posada.
Posada: More injury risk for Joba in rotation than in bullpen
Associated Press
NEW YORK -- Jorge Posada wants Joba Chamberlain kept in the bullpen and predicts more injuries for the young pitcher if the New York Yankees put him in their starting rotation.
"I think if you start him and he pitches 200 innings in one year, you're going to lose him. He's going to get hurt. I don't see him as a starter," Posada said Monday during a session of "CenterStage," scheduled to air on the team's YES Network starting Sept. 28.
Chamberlain, the hard-throwing righty who turns 23 next week, began the season in the Yankees bullpen and then moved to the rotation in June. The plan was to limit his innings early and then make him a full-time starter.
He was sidelined from Aug. 4 to Sept. 2 because of rotator cuff tendinitis and went back to the bullpen when he returned.
"A little tendinitis, it just tells you a lot," Posada said after the TV interview.
Chamberlain was 3-1 with a 2.76 ERA in 12 starts, striking out 74 in 65 1/3 innings. He's 1-2 with a 2.29 ERA in 24 relief appearances, fanning 34 in 28 2/3 innings.
"I see him as a reliever. I think his body is made up for a reliever," Posada said.
The 37-year-old catcher had season-ending shoulder surgery June 30 and expects to return behind the plate for New York next season, anticipating he can catch 120 to 130 games.
With the Yankees almost certain to miss the playoffs for the first time since 1993, he says the team must go into the free-agent market to repair its starting rotation. CC Sabathia, Ben Sheets and A.J. Burnett are their chief targets.
"We're pretty much going to be in it, but you don't know if those guys are going to want to come here," Posada said. "I hope they do."
On another topic, Posada voiced anger toward Pedro Martinez for the 2003 brawl between the Yankees and the Red Sox during the AL Championship Series.
"I thought he was going to hit me in the head with a bat, after we had the fight and he pushed Don Zimmer. It was ridiculous. I mean, he throws at Karim Garcia because he's losing the game. I mean, there's no class," Posada said.
It might have been an uncomfortable situation had Posada signed with the New York Mets after the 2007 season. He would have had to catch Martinez.
"You try to forget about the past and look forward," Posada said.

Dragon
09-15-2008, 10:21 PM
Pretty sure Posada isn't a doctor so I'm not really sure what he sees that makes him think Joba can't handle being a starter. He's been a starter in college and the minors so its not like its something new for him.
I really think it would be a waste leaving Joba in the pen.
One thing that needs to happen is to just give him a set role going into next season and not switch him back and forth from the bullpen to the rotation. Thats probably what caused the injury more than anything else.

Hopefully with this year of experience he has a better understanding of what to do next year. Girardi has been good at making straight up baseball and game decisions like how to use the bullpen, etc...but the "people" decisions he could have been better at.
I don't really think its a coincedence that Cano has been hitting better and busting his ass after the benching a couple days ago. Doing it in June would have been smarter. Cano is the kind of player that seems to need someone pushing him and thats what Larry Bowa did the past couple years. I think thats whats been missing with him this year.
But really, having one reliable starter and an inconsistent lineup is what killed the Yankees this year.

The whole actors dressed up as legends just standing in CF for an hour was a little lame but the rest was great to see. Was pretty fitting to see Bernie come back for the first time in two years. Can someone explain roster expansion to me? How many guys do they call up, when and how? Never understood it.
Basically on September 1st, each MLB team is allowed to expand their roster from 25 to as many as 40, although I can't really think of a big league team that's ever called up 15 additional guys.
So in a nutshell, from September 1st until the end of the regular season, your team can be anywhere from 25 to 40 guys. It's a good way for teams out of the race to test out their top prospects since the minor league season ends in September.
The 8 teams that make the postseason then have to get their roster back down to 25 for the playoffs and they can adjust their roster after each series.

This Mets game tonight just about killed me. Easily the most exciting game I've ever seen live...and Delgado's grand slam has probably been the coolest live sports moment for me.
Yet....in the end it wound up being the most depressing loss I'd ever been in attendance for. Not being able to score the winning run against the worst reliever on the Cubs roster despite starting off with a leadoff triple...heartbreaking. :(

They are going to be lethal in the playoffs. if the brewers dont make the playoffs, the Cubs are the only team that has the pitching to succeed in the playoffs.

God, with Furcal back.... Although he won't be a starter, he might play like half the game or something, dunno. I don't give a shit about Kent, he is a douchebag, and I will be glad to see him retire after this year. He can get some hits for us though while his bitchass is still around.
ANYWAY. Dodgers could wrap it up here in like 3 hours, if Arizona loses this game.

DaveWadding
09-25-2008, 05:35 PM
Nah dont be...Im just fucking done with the D'Backs. tonight was the last straw pretty much. They took a 2 run lead right away...held it until the 6th, gave it up and then let the Giants push it to 2 runs in the 8th...Then tie it up in the 9th and the bullpen just goes and fucking blows it.
They dont want it. They had a 4.5 game lead two weeks ago and they let your fucking Dodgers wreck them home and away even though they'd lost 10 straight.
Now the Dodgers have the momentum and the D'Backs are fucked.
From like 2 weeks ago.

I think/hope that Lou Piniella is well aware that the Mets are the easiest possible first round matchup because of their bullpen (and his team has just seen everyone in the bullpen and blasted them)...and so for that reason, I hope he plays to win each game this weekend to try and help the Mets in.

COLLAPSE 2008! What's the problem? The Management or the Players?
Went to the afternoon Sox/Yankees game today and saw Johnny Pesky's #6 retired. Too bad the game sucked.
Between seeing Manny hit his 500th homerun in Baltimore and seeing Pesky's number hung up at Fenway, I've seen a good share of Red Sox history this year.

The Mets have announced Jerry Manuel will remain manager of the team, which I agree with whole-heartedly. Every player on the team has praised his people skills...and truthfully, it's not his fault he's had to make a million pitching changes every night since Wagner went down.
I pray Omar Minaya's planned 4 year contract extension is ripped up. I think he should be fired personally, but if they NEED to keep him around...the Wilpons should tell him he's got one year to get a bullpen and make the playoffs, or he's gone.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Jerry revamp his coaching staff...and pretty much everyone in the bullpen other than Joe Smith I can see going.

You gotta look at the positions on ROY.
Votto had a great year, but was on par with bruce, and they play 1B and OF and put up average numbers for those spots. Soto was the best offensive catcher in the NL. I think Soto has topped of and Votto and bruce will be much better, but Soto was defintely the ROY.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Mets didn't get a single award this year. Beltran MIGHT win another Gold Glove and at least be in contention for a Silver Slugger, but I can think of guys with better stats.
Outside of him, the only other guy with a chance at anything is Santana for a Gold Glove and probably #2 or #3 in Cy Young voting. I can't get the fielding stats up on MLB.com, but I have a feeling that if the numbers are close they'll give the GG to Maddux just because it's Maddux. Kinda hope Johan gets it though, exciting as hell to watch his starts.
