Bet every dime you have on these 3 teams:

49ers -3.5 @ Redskins
Chiefs -4.5 vs Dolphins
Packers -5.5 @ chargers

laugh all the way to the bank. Vegas is ridiculous this week with their lines.

None of those games are sure picks. Especially the first one since it's hard for teams from the west coast to fly to the east coast and win. When people think they've "outsmarted Vegas" is probably where they make their most money. Undefeated teams usually get their first loss to teams like the Chargers, and winless teams usually get lucky against quasi hot teams like the Chiefs.

How Contempt For Tim Tebow Caused An ESPN.com Commenter Revolution
The ESPN.com comment section is a den of iniquity and misspelling, and for the world's largest sports site, it's curiously inessential. The open registration means the discourse tends toward lowest common denominator, and it's too big to engender much sense of community. But once in a long while the disparate masses are united by a polarizing figure. This week, one Mr. Tim Tebow has worked that miracle.
On Sunday night, ESPN.com posted a Bill Williamson column calling for the Broncos to get their post-Tebow plans in order. The early comments were unremarkable: the usual "Tebow sucks" and "John Fox sucks" camps doing their thing. But as Halloween dawned, the shapeless mass of discontent had taken form. Completely organically, Tebow hate made order out of chaos.

"X > Tebow" is the meme, with X being a series of increasingly negative and absurd things. It began with QuanB8's comment, "Ryan Leaf > Tebow." It moved to to other crappy quarterbacks—JaMarcus Russell, David Carr, Akili Smith—but soon became something else entirely. A few examples:

Windows Vista > Tebow

Being groped by Julian Edelman > Tebow

Still saying 'Whaaaz uuuppp' > Tebow

Eating undercooked chicken and dealing with its unsavory aftereffects this morning > Tebow

Yelling the N word at a DMX concert > Tebow

Wanting to dream about Cheers Kirstie Alley and dreaming about Fat Actress Kirstie Alley instead > Tebow

Rebooting the Back To The Future franchise with the plot centered around getting Tebow's mom to have an abortion > Tebow

"X > Tebow" ranges from the self-referential to the nonsensical to the patently offensive, and has spread to other comment sections. It is a monster that cannot be contained by ESPN.com moderators, despite their best efforts. As the craze hit full swing on Monday, ESPN was deleting comments almost as quickly as they appeared. That was a mistake. In the face of oppression, the commenters redoubled their efforts. I think this is an important point: the Worldwide Leader in Sports was overwhelmed by the sheer number of people who wanted to make fun of Tim Tebow.

On day two, ESPN tried a different strategy: only deleting comments that were anti-religious or otherwise objectionable under their terms of service. We've heard from commenters who have found their contributions gone, their accounts suspended. But even that's fallen by the wayside, as any number of anti-Christian or generally obscene comments can be found today. The moderators abandoned the battlefield. The commenters won.

It's a momentous day for the denizens of ESPN.com, having created their first legitimate meme (Craggs likens it to seeing a dog walk on two legs). They've been able to act cohesively, showcase their creativity, and rage against the machine a bit at the same time. That is the true miracle of Tim Tebow.

Oh, No. No, No, No. (Man Gets A Texans Super Bowl Champions Tattoo)

http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets/images/11/2011/11/dsc_0006.jpg

Man, Chris Brown, you are a brave, stupid man. Not only did you get a Texans logo tattooed on your arm, framed by the words "Super Bowl" XVLI Champion. But you shaded the area behind the roman numerals so you won't be able to fix it in the future. Why would you do this, Chris?

"Danieal Manning – he's my favorite Texans player," Chris said. "He inspired me to get the tattoo. I read where he said,'You can't go to the Super Bowl if you don't think Super Bowl'."

I get that you're a "die-hard" fan who only attended his first Texans game ever this Sunday, but this is confidence run amok. The Colts were not the last thing standing between your team and a title. Your team still stands between your team and a title. Chris, dude...dude.

When people think they've "outsmarted Vegas" is probably where they make their most money. Undefeated teams usually get their first loss to teams like the Chargers, and winless teams usually get lucky against quasi hot teams like the Chiefs.

How west coast teams have fared against the spread over the years when playing on the East Coast at 1 p.m.:

2003: 1-8
2004: 8-5
2005: 6-6
2006: 2-6
2007: 6-11
2008: 7-9
2009: 2-2
2010: 1-5
2011: 5-2

the 49ers have 2 of the 5 wins at 1pm on the East Coast vs the Bengals and Eagles, I think they can handle the Redskins.

As far as the Packers go:

Packers are 31-16 ATS on the road under Mike McCarthy.
Aaron Rodgers is 28-14 ATS since 2009.
Mike McCarthy is 5-0 ATS coming off a bye.
Road favorites coming off a bye are 30-10 against the spread since 2002.

I'm sure the Ravens thought they could handle the Jaguars too.

Droford

As far as the Chiefs go, I might be moved to not feel so great about them, but they're still playing the Dolphins who for all intents and purposes are tanking it.

Historical Results of Games with Similar Lines

Since the start of the 2006 NFL season there have been 302 games where the closing line favored the home team by 2 to 4 points (the line is currently now KC -4) In these games:

The team like Kansas City (Favorite) won the game 162 times (53.6%)
The team like Miami (Underdog) won the game 140 times (46.4%)
The team like Miami (Underdog) did better against the spread, going 165-121-16 (57.7% ATS) and covering the spread by an average of 1.9 points

I hope this means that Da'Rel Scott can start dressing for games. That dude has crazy speed. I wish the Giants would put him in and try to get him 4-5 touches a game. Some swing passes, sweeps, or screens. All he needs to do is find open field and he is gone.

The 49ers have a hell of a chance taking down both the skins and the Giants but I'm definitely expecting a loss sometimr soon. 9ers have been so predictable with their offense and all its really going to take is a team stopping the run and forcing Alex to take control of the entire game. Smith hasn't won a game this season on his own really like a lot of big time QBs have. If the Giants neutralize a big part of the run game and turn it into Eli vs Alex, we're in trouble.

Pretty much this. Part of me would've rather had another losing season because this winning streak thing is fairly stressful.

And yeah the Giants run D is lacking but so is the Browns run D and they stopped us on the Goal line twice. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN THE NFL/WWE!

To give us a least a bit of credit, this is the most exciting 9er offense in a long while. Our offensive linemen are catching passes and getting first downs for us, Alex Smith has all of a sudden turned into a laser beam, and Frank Gore is seemingly unstoppable the past couple of games.

Our defense has been fairly good the past couple of years but now it's getting silly. Patrick Willis is an evil monster and Carlos Rogers is a machine.

Former player says Belichick paid him to start fights in practice

Posted by Mike Florio on November 4, 2011, 10:37 AM EDT

The last time the Patriots prepared to face the Giants, a bombshell was dropped by the Boston Herald. Former Pats beat writer John Tomase reported — and later retracted — that the Patriots had secretly filmed the Rams’ walk-through practice prior to Super Bowl XXXVI.

As the Patriots prepare to face the Giants for the first time since the day that 18-0 became 18-1 in February 2008, another controversy has surfaced, albeit far less inflammatory.

Former NFL defensive lineman Chad Eaton, in a profile published Thursday by the Dayton Daily News, blurts out that, when he was a member of the Browns’ practice squad, coach Bill Belichick paid Eaton to start fights in practice.

“If practice was going slow, he’d look at me and just say, ‘It’s time,’” Eaton said. “He wanted me to get on somebody’s [case] and start a little fight. I was known for that and it paid off on Fridays. There’d always be some extra money in my locker. Practice players don’t make much, so I really appreciated it.”

Eaton spent five seasons with the Patriots after his time in Cleveland ended. His time in New England overlapped with Belichick by only one year, in 2000.

Belichick has a reputation for greasing the palms of the various P-H-D (poor, hungry, driven) employees who work for the front office and coaching staff. Giving extra cash to players raises the specter of potential salary-cap violations.

It’s highly unlikely that anything will come of this, given that Eaton is talking about things that happened more than 15 years ago. But any hint of a potential rules violation by the Patriots and/or Belichick is sure to get PFT Planet’s juices flowing on a fairly slow Friday morning, regardless of whether any, some, or all of the other 31 coaches were doing the same thing.

Cleveland Browns weary of Peyton Hillis drama, prepared to let him go after season, sources say

Published: Saturday, November 05, 2011, 2:30 AM Updated: Saturday, November 05, 2011, 9:12 AM

BEREA, Ohio — The Browns are near the end of their rope with running back Peyton Hillis and are prepared to let him walk in free agency after this season, NFL sources said.

At this point, it would take a dramatic turnaround in behavior and production for Hillis to persuade the Browns to re-sign him when he becomes a free agent in March.

"It's one thing after another, and what's been out there isn't even the half of it," one source said.

And now, Hillis is expected to miss at least a couple of more games after re-injuring his hamstring in practice Friday afternoon. Hillis had an MRI on Friday, and it showed a significant strain to his left hamstring. Hillis got hurt in the first 15 minutes of practice, which was open to the media.

On a run up the middle, Hillis came up limping and grabbed the back of his left leg. In dramatic fashion, he spiked the ball and then whipped his helmet to the ground.

Hillis limped off the field and stood hunched over in pain. Then he spent time talking to a trainer with his head down and his hands on his hips. Within a few minutes, he limped halfway toward the fieldhouse, stopped and was examined by the trainers.

He's listed as questionable on the official injury report but is not expected to play Sunday in Houston. Chris Ogbonnaya will replace him in the starting lineup, and newly signed Thomas Clayton will serve as a third-down back.
"I'm sure if [Hillis] can't play this week, he'll be frustrated by that, but the key is to do everything in his power to get healthy so he can play," said coach Pat Shurmur.

After everything that's transpired with Hillis this season, some of the players weren't sure what to make of the dramatic display. "But the injury is legit," a source said.

Browns quarterback Seneca Wallace confirmed a report on Yahoo Sports and in The Plain Dealer that the players are tired of some of Hillis' antics. Michael Silver of Yahoo Sports first reported that some of the players talked to Hillis on Wednesday about his recent actions. A source told The Plain Dealer that it was the Browns' "regular leadership group," which includes Hillis. They stayed after their meeting with Shurmur to confront and support Hillis.

The players were annoyed that Hillis spent most of pregame warm-ups in San Francisco -- despite being ruled inactive for the second straight week with the hamstring -- throwing passes from midfield to the crossbar alongside third-string quarterback Thad Lewis.

"It was a bad look," one veteran Browns player told Silver. "And it did not sit well with any of us."

Said Wallace: "Yes, it did get on some people's nerves that he was throwing balls when he was injured. But at the end of the day, it's his last name on the back of his jersey, and he has to decide how he wants to represent himself."
Wallace also confirmed a report by The Plain Dealer that players were upset Hillis went to Arkansas to get married last Tuesday instead of coming in for treatment. He practiced Wednesday and then sat out the rest of the week, including the Niners game. For comparison's sake, cornerback Joe Haden underwent eight hours of treatment on his knee some days to get ready for the Seattle game Oct. 23.

"Of course we're going to be a little upset if Peyton's not in there getting his treatment," said Wallace. "We're a team, and we rely on each other. But if he felt he wanted to go get married that day, that's his business. You never really know what a person is going through. You don't know what type of influences a person might have. I don't know the stuff that Peyton has going on in his life."

Wallace acknowledged that Hillis doesn't seem to be the same person he was last season when he rushed for 1,177 yards and 11 touchdowns.
"I think everybody's noticed a little bit of a change in him, but he could have some family issues or something," said Wallace. "Maybe his priorities have changed. We have a whole new staff, so a lot of things have changed. Maybe some of it's overblown."

A source said Hillis was recently late to a team meeting on top of his other erratic behaviors. On Monday night, he missed a scheduled appearance at the Boys and Girls Club of Cleveland's Halloween party and issued an apology Wednesday. He attributed it to not receiving the right information from his brother and business manager, Kyle Hillis, and not realizing the importance of the event. He also promised to make it up.

Hillis' star-crossed season began with unsuccessful negotiations to extend his contract -- negotiations which broke off recently. Browns President Mike Holmgren said recently the Browns would try to re-sign Hillis in free agency, but that's now in serious doubt. Then came the strep throat that led him to miss the Dolphins game in Week 3 upon the advice of his agent. A league source confirmed some players did not appreciate Hillis listening to his agent and taking himself out before the game. By the time he missed the San Francisco game, some wondered just how hurt he really was -- especially watching him launch those passes from midfield.

One veteran Browns player told Silver: "I've never seen anything like it. Last year, Peyton was such a positive, inspirational force on our team -- but now he's like a different guy. It's like he's in a funk that he can't get out of, and it's killing us, because we really need him. And we've told him that. But we're at the point where we just don't know what to do."

Another confided he thinks Browns management failed to support Hillis at a time when he's apparently mentally fragile.

Another said: "The organization is not going to reward a guy they think is moping or acting out or going about it the wrong way, just out of principle, and because of the message it sends to younger guys. And I totally understand that."

Browns General Manager Tom Heckert told Yahoo Sports, "The guys we did sign [to big contracts], those are the guys we feel are ultimate team guys who want to be here."

Shit, at this rate it could be a 4 way tie. Like I said in my post earlier with a SD and KC loss and Denver win over Oakland, Denver is one behind the division lead. But what I forgot to mention is that the division lead would be a 3 way tie between KC/SD/OAK at 4-4 with Denver at 3-5

Predicting a bounce back game for Tebow. Don't expect him to be incredible, I expect just average. Probably all that would be needed to beat Oakland anyway. Hopefully Fox/McCoy have wised up and call more early down high percentage passes, instead of constantly running on the first two downs and setting Tim up to fail on 3rd and long

This game showcasing the fact that it's not just Tebow that's the problem. I put a good chunk of blame on Elway, Xanders and Fox. They knew what they had and hyped up their waiver priority, then signed literally NO ONE after the preseason. They said they liked the roster as it was and now they're pissy about how terrible it is. For fucks sake, the backup center is a guy who habitually rolled the ball on the ground out of the shotgun at least 5 times this preseason alone.

Saints CB Patrick Robinson was flagged for delay of game on a punt return..

In my 27ish years of watching football I can't remember ever seeing a player on a kick return team (defense) get a delay of game penalty.. All I could find was this snippet from todays game..

The Bucs punted but thanks to an unexplained defensive delay of game penalty on CB Patrick Robinson, the Bucs were given a first down. No specific action was noted, but Robinson could have been flagged for trying to incite a false start, possibly verbally.

So anyone have an explanation on this??

Name some QBs that have 93 yard TD drives against Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh to win the game..you have all the time you need to look it up.

Aside from the fumble he had, he played a great game..I dunno what more you want.

I honestly can't be assed to look up this ridiculous stat and will simply just say: Jaguars. This game just proves even the worst of QBs can get together a decent game winning drive every once in a while

You could say the Texans, but the Ravens beat them.
You might say the Jets, but..hmm..The Ravens beat them too.
Patriots have lost 2 in a row and their defense looks like crap.
Bills have lost 3 of their last 5 and aren't looking that great either.
Its certainly not any of the AFC West 4-4 teams.

I'm not taking a shot at your precious Ravens. Chill.

This is the 3rd straight week that they've given the best team in the AFC label to a new team.

THAT'S ALL.

Yeah, but if you remember, the Best team in the AFC 3 weeks ago was the Ravens before the Jags game, so its back to where it belongs lol.
