I hate when teams just go 3 and out and don't move the ball until one team finally scores and then the other team plays with urgency and starts matching them. Dallas does it all the time and it bugs me. Why don't people just realize it's a mental midset and play with urgency from the start? Gah!

Conflicting reports about Quinn getting some snaps today. All local media says anything Quinn got in practice was normal for any given week while national media guys like Glazer insist Quinn has his own package for 3rd and long. Whatever, it's the playoffs. I'm down for whatever gets the win, and if Quinn has to play to do it so be it. I just hope he doesn't have flash backs to his Browns days when Pittsburgh would fuck him up

Giants/Packers game next week is gonna be sick. The way Eli is playing they may just pull the upset.

Boomer
01-08-2012, 03:33 PM
And hell, if I were a betting man, I'd be picking the Giants to win on Sunday. I'd love to be wrong, but I'm not blind to the Falcons' inconsistencies. Matt Ryan still had a career year this year in his first year with the offense (mostly) under his control. The Falcons' defense, not offense, will likely be the deciding factor in their playoff games. I trust Matt and Co. to put up points. The only reason they might not put up enough points is, like I said before, a coaching decision. The Falcons are almost guaranteed to run ball control, while teams like the Packers and Saints will just score well past them.

And Matt Ryan can't throw a deep ball well to save his life. That doesn't help much either.

The Falcons are pretty easy to figure out, and it's no wonder the fan base hates Murlarkey and Van Gorder so much. The offense didn't put up points today, but it certainly isn't the fault of Matt Ryan. You can basically tell whether the Falcons are going to pass or run on almost every play, and the defense almost never disguises what they're doing. The Falcons' staff mistakes gutsy philosophy with going for it on 4th down with the same shit rather than mixing it up on offense 1st-3rd and mixing it up on defense as well.

Dunno, Ben apparently tweaked his ankle last week, Pouncey is out, Clark is out and Mendenhall and Moore are out. Steelers have only scored 23 total points with Ben at QB since his injury, and 6 of those quarters came against the Browns. Denver doesn't fuck up and they have a shot. They also can't keep making every Tebow pass 15 yards or more. Christ, call some quick slants first. Can't have him handing off the whole 1st quarter and then have his first pass be a 40 yard bomb down the sideline to a WR who can't get any separation

Emperor Smeat
01-08-2012, 03:46 PM
Green Bay vs NY Giants should be a good one but I don't think Coughlin can take another frostbite-like face if the temperature is freezing in GB like the last time they met in the playoffs.

Even with all the players Pitt is missing, they still have a very tough and physical defense which could be more than Tebow can handle considering he's struggled really badly ever since the Pats game. Still hope for the upset by Denver so that the Texans go to New England but the Pats took their chance of having Pitt with the #1 seed.

I'm hoping he can. But for a guy who's essentially a rookie QB who's struggled the last few weeks, is starting his first playoff game AND has to deal with the whole Brady Quinn situation, my outlook is grim. His confidence was clearly shattered last week and none of this other shit is going to help :-\

Cowboys have a bigger one than the Steelers if you add in the bandwagoners. Giants and a bunch of the older NFL teams (pre-merger) probably have as large if not larger fan bases as well.

The NFC has had a different Super Bowl representative for 10 straight years now. San Francisco is the only hope of keeping that streak alive.

Then we just need Atlanta, Dallas, Detroit Washington and Minnesota to make it in the next 5 years for the ultimate example of parity in sports history.

Cowboys still? They haven't done anything positive in such a long time. They can barley claim to be Americas Team now. They aren't America's Team unless you mean that they aren't good enough to be in the playoffs but aren't bad enough to get a good draft pick.

I don't either. I don't like college OT. Mainly because you give teams the ball at the opponents 30 and the score gets inflated. It takes a lot of defense out of the outcome.
