Knicks sucked incredibly hard that quarter but if Lebron keeps getting as many calls as he did the Heat will be undefeated in the postseason. He's really upped his flopping game.

Cs shot absolutely horribly today and dropped the 1st game to the Hawks. Refs also ended up tossing Rondo so now he's going to be out for at least 1 game.

Doc really is bad at getting the team motivated at the start of series since they always play the first road game horribly.

So amped for my HEAT tonight

Emperor Smeat
05-03-2012, 10:51 PM
Knicks-Heat series basically done although Knicks barely had any real chance once Stod went out. Knicks problem is something they've been fighting whole season in being too streaky with their runs and Melo "ball hogging" the shots while the other side has Lebron who almost averages a foul call per shot attempt in the playoffs so far.

According to ESPN, Knicks just broke the record for most playoff losses in a row at 13 (Grizzles had 12) and tied the Heat for most playoff games in a row without scoring 100 pts (38)

Dragon
05-03-2012, 11:51 PM
I think if Lin, Shumpert and Amare were playing all these games this series would have been a real good one. This team playing shorthanded at all against the Heat would have made it extremely difficult. Playing without all three has made the series impossible.

Davis-Fields-Novak-Melo-Chandler has to be one of the worst playoff starting 5s ever put out there.

Cs played like crap in the final 5 minutes of regulation and wasted a nice double digit lead but played a lot better in OT for the 2-1 series lead.

Rondo had probably one of the ugliest triple doubles (5 for 17 shooting before OT) but according to ESPN he's now tied with Lebron for most playoff triple doubles at 7.

Emperor Smeat
05-06-2012, 05:36 PM
Baring a miracle, Philly is going to win their series and probably the 1st 8 seed to win since the Warriors years ago.

To be fair the Bulls title chances were essentially doomed once Rose went out since a lot of the offense ran through him and Miami became the "handpicked" chose ever since Game 1 of their series.

Dragon
05-06-2012, 05:44 PM
They were like 18-9 without Rose during the season. And Philadelphia pretty much limped into the postseason. They shouldn't have been doomed when Rose went down.

Emperor Smeat
05-06-2012, 05:56 PM
Yeah but in the playoffs, teams tend to play a shorter bench and loosing a starter of his quality hurt the team badly. Before Rose's injury, people penciled in the Bulls as either a potential champion, NBA Finals, or East Finals team.

Philly did struggle but Philly also showed signs of tanking to get the Bulls since the matched up a lot better against them than the Heat during the season.

It's interesting to me that fans don't come onto the floor more often during basketball games. You see it all the time in baseball, football, and soccer where people have to jump over barricades to get onto the field. But in basketball where the fans are literally right next to the court with nothing blocking them, it rarely happens.

I can understand the complaints against the Lakers considering historically they own the West and have like 50% of all the appearances by the West in the NBA Finals. Between them and the Spurs hogging up all the spots except 2 by the Mavs since Jordan left, makes sense why it seems a bit boring from their side.

Before 2008, Cs hadn't been in the Finals in almost 20 years while the Heat (and when Lebron was on the Cavs) is all marketing since Stern cares more about finding the next Jordan than having a lot of good teams.

It also doesn't help how horrible the officials are so it makes it seem only certain teams or stars are allowed to win.

WTF

As Smelly Meatball said, before 2008 the Celtics hadn't been to the finals since 1986.. They have been there twice since then and won one..

Before 2006, the Heat had never been, and since then have been twice and won one..

Sports are about what team is the best. If the same teams are coming up each year (which really isn't the case if you really look at the field) it is just because they are one of the best teams. There is no conspiracy that keeps teams on top just because they have a big market.

I think at one point against the Knicks it was around 1 FT guaranteed per shot he tried.

To be fair the majority of his shots were him going to the rim but he gets away with a lot of traveling to the point Stern considered 1-2 years ago adding an extra step and making the crab dribble as legal moves.

And as stacked as the Heat are and as annoying as it may be to fans of other teams, The Heat have NEVER been handed a championship like the Lakers were handed one by the league in 2002. How any Lakers fan can complain about any team in the league is beyond my comprehension.

Javale McGee dunks during a July 2011 charity game between NBA players and the Philippine national team. (AP)One of the top stories of the playoffs so far, beyond that many games have been unwatchable, is that Denver Nuggets center JaVale McGee played like a capable and effective pro. There's a chance that, for as many silly plays as he's made over the years, he could become one of the best centers in the league, even if he does nothing more than block shots, rebound and catch the ball around the basket for easy dunks and alley-oops.

Now that the Nuggets' season is over, JaVale has a chance to work on his game this summer. As far as we know, he won't be doing so as part of Team USA, either with the senior team or the select squad that practices and scrimmages with them before the London Olympics. In fact, McGee might play for another nation in international competition in the future. Oddly enough, he might end up playing for the Philippines.

McGee has been trying to become a naturalized citizen of the island country for some time now, but it's been a long process. Now, however, there's legislation in the Filipino government to get it done. From Francis Respisio for local station News5 (via PBT):

A bill has been filed in the House of Representatives to naturalize Denver Nuggets center JaVale McGee to make him eligible for the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national team.

Antipolo City representative Robbie Puno filed House Bill 6169, which would make McGee a Filipino citizen. Puno, in his bill's cover letter, cited McGee's "remarkable track record in the United States' professional basketball scene" as consideration for his inclusion in the SMART-Gilas program.

McGee, who came over to the Philippines twice last year during the NBA lockout, has expressed interest in playing for the country.

The Philippines is a basketball-mad country, and McGee's relationship with them could be the start of a serious celebrity profile. Additionally, Pinoy genetics have conspired to create a population of relatively short people, which means their national team could use a player of McGee's height.

The problem here is that Team USA would be giving up a secret weapon in FIBA play if it allows McGee to play for the Philippines. If McGee has one obvious weakness as a player, it's that he tends to try to block everything and thereby gets called for more goaltending violations than anyone else in the league. In FIBA play, players are allowed to touch the basketball as soon as it hits the rim. McGee could thrive simply by patrolling the area around the basket and swatting away any shots that draw iron. He's already a good shot-blocker in the NBA, but in FIBA ball he could be a monster.

All Team USA has to do is get a little creative in its defensive strategy. If it lets his Filipino citizenship happen, it stands to lose him forever.
