Is he a Defensive Tackle?

I believe so. All I know of the guy is that he is more or less taking Daryl Smith's place due mostly to being younger and cheaper and that he was drafted by the Bucs in 08. Aside from that, I know nothing about our whole 1 free agent signing.

I'm calling this right now: the Patriots will select Ryan Swope at some point in the draft. He's a white wide receiver who went to a college in Texas, so he's already pretty high on Bill's list, plus he ran a 4.3 40 time.

I still trust him more than Tynes. Tynes just never seemed to have all that strong of a leg. Felt nervous if he came in for any attempt over 40.

Also they have David Buehler who Jerry Jones had a hard-on for for years for some reason. Not likely he beats out Brown in preseason, but I suppose it's possible.

Brown was pretty money for the Bengals down the stretch last year and that included some pretty clutch kicks.

I think you'll like him just fine.

Stephen Jackson's deal with the Falcons ended up being a 3-year, $12 million deal.

Eagles signed Connor Barwin but was labeled as a bad signing because of the years and amount (6 years, $36 million).

Mario Manningham agreed to about a $2 million pay cut in order to stay with the 49ers for next season.

Patriots signed Leon Washington to a 1-year deal.

Greg Jennings was demanding around $11 million per year but nobody is interested unless he drops it by a good $3-$5 million.

Seahwaks signed Michael Bennett to a 1 year, $5 million deal.

Ed Reed is preparing to announce the Texans as his team for next year with the announcement expected tomorrow.

Dwight Freeney, Emmanuel Sanders, and John Abraham are meeting with the Patriots today.

Falcons deal with Tony Gonzalez ended up being for 2 year, $14 million.

Danny Woodhead signed a 2 year contract with the Chargers.

Yes but the downside is whatever they expected to save from his pay cut won't happen nor getting him cheap should other teams start to bid for him.

Also means they probably lost out on Dwight Freeney since he didn't want to wait on Denver to get that situation handled before potentially agreeing to sign with them.

Dumervil's agent blaming the Broncos for the paperwork mishap saying they waited too long to send him the paperwork and tried to sneak in an extra non-agreed condition at the last minute. Also teased Denver is out as a potential team for his player.

As ESPN's Andrew Brandt would say, "there will be lawyers." Dumervil's rep is alleging the Broncos changed the terms of the pay cut at the last minute, delaying the process. Dumervil's camp sent its ill-fated fax at 3:55ET, right as the Broncos were cutting him out of a supposed abundance of caution. The sides have yet to talk since the fiasco. We'd expect many twists and turns over the next 48 hours. Dumervil is looking unlikely to return to Denver.

The potential Ed Reed to Texans deal fell apart although they are still considered the favorites to get him later on.

The Bengals have.....they....well we are letting Rey Maluaga go (thank goodness) and We're being smart in negotiating with Andre Smith (don't give up all that money to this fat piece of shit). We did however Franchise Michael Johnson (great young DE that was developed in the Cincy system).

Wow, we've got a lot of young talent and we've actually got a system of identifying/drafting/keeping them???? Did Mike Brown Die? We've managed to keept talent in house, while only saying bye to Pacman Jones, Rey Maluga, and Maybe Andre Smith. With Baltimore imploding, and Pittsburgh getting old. Its either going to be him or Doug Baldwin from Seattle but looks like Indy is going after Baldwin first.

Tim Tebow was given a contract offer to play in the Arena Football League if he ends up leaving the Jets and nobody else makes an interesting offer for him.

Ed Reed expected to make his decision before the end of next week. Texans still the favorites but the Ravens are getting the chance to match or improve the offer since nobody else seems to be in the bidding.

Jets won't be able to trade Darrelle Revis for at least a few more weeks after everyone else teased they are letting his value plummet considering neither the Jets nor Revis hold any leverage for trade deals.

Primarily as a veteran backup role but that was before Matt Hasselbeck was released. Now its probably as a Plan B/C if they can't find anyone else.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports up to ten teams have expressed interest in free agent Matt Hasselbeck, and the list could get longer.

This is obviously agent-driven, but Mort says the Cardinals, Bills, Bears, Bengals, Browns, Colts, Saints, Giants, 49ers, and Bucs are the clubs with initial interest. Per Cardinals beat writer Kent Somers, Arizona has begun reviewing the soon-to-be 38-year-old's tape. Hasselbeck was owed $5.5 million before the Titans cut him on Monday. He'd be lucky to get half of that on his next deal.

This year, Wednesday, September 4 after sundown is the beginning of Rosh Hashanah, and it seems that the league that will have games on Christmas and Thanksgiving will balk at having the game when one of the major Jewish holidays is occurring. They would like to have the game on the night of Thursday, September 5 instead.

I assume they'll play Wednesday but who knows. The NFL hates baltimore enough I could see them screwing the Ravens out of the Opening Night game...

Droford

Also, the Ravens are actually going after Dumervil. His LB coach in Denver the year he had 17 sacks is now on the Ravens coaching staff which they see as a plus. Like I said earlier, if they can sign him it makes up for everything but Boldin, they still need to find a WR.

Almost 25% of the league's owners or co-owners are Jewish so I doubt the move was done solely because of Kraft. The NFL could easily swap that game out with Bal-Pitt, Bal-Hou, Bal-GB, or Bal-Den to maintain a great home opener.

Coutesey of Rotoworld:

* Ed Reed currently holding out on signing any new deal with the Texans until they raise their offer to him while also making sure Baltimore stays in the bidding.

* The Welker situation took another turn today after Welker's agents are now claiming the Pats did offer him a contract but it was a "take it or leave it" offer. Pats owner stated his offer guaranteed both years although it offered more in the first year if the incentives were reached.

* Victor Cruz currently rumored to be staying with the Giants. The issue is every team interested currently values their 1st Round pick being more valuable than Cruz and don't want to pay him Top 10 WR money.

I think Irsay ruled Cruz out. Indy really is one huge trade or signing away from being a legit contender. Love the Hasselback pickup. If they could get Revis, which is possible. And pair him with Vontae Davis and Bethea and Landry as the FS and SS? That's hands down the best defensive backfield in the league.

Vontae Davis was amazing in the last 5 games or so last year. He really settled in and played like he was worth the pick we gave up.

Signed Spears and Cantu who are great at stopping the run, bolstering the 20th ranked defense vs the run
Still in the mix for Dumervil as well as Dwight Freeney and Osi Umenyiora as upgrades to the defense.
The Ravens are getting back proven veteran players on defense after letting a couple of guys who combined to start 20 games in 5 years walk for $75 million combined in Ellerbe and Kruger.

The Denver Post reports free agent Elvis Dumervil was "underwhelmed" by the Broncos' most recent offer, and is planning to begin visiting other teams within the next 48 hours.

Denver reportedly made a three-year offer, but is now "prepared to move on." The Broncos will host free agents Dwight Freeney and John Abraham in the next 24 offers. With neither side appearing keen on a new deal, Dumervil is likely done in Denver.

NFL.com reports the Ravens are "very pessimistic" about re-signing free agent Ed Reed.

Per reporter Ian Rapoport, the "belief" is that Reed is now seeking $4 million per year, but that it's "doubtful" the Ravens meet that price. $4 million is believed to be what the Texans are offering, so it could be only a matter of time before Reed stops peddling his wares and takes his talents his Houston.

Also, I like Stanton. As a person. Notsomuch as a starting NFL quarterback. He's more suited to be a 2nd... or 3rd... string QB. I don't know how he makes the Cardinals competitive. I mean, they couldn't get much worse but really? This is your big splash? I would love to be wrong and I would be absolutely ecstatic if Stanton succeeds there, but... I just don't see it.

Yeah I really wanted them to go after Cruz. He's such a young impact player that could have a phenomenal career in Indy. He's talent that would have instantly started making a difference.

No idea what this big 'haul' is for the WR they're going after. Pretty sure he ruled out a trade for Fitzgerald too, but I was really looking forward to the possibility of Cruz. Granted, it's just like Irsay to say "nah" and really mean "yeah", so there's always a chance for Cruz if he doesn't sign elsewhere soon.

Also yeah on the Revis pick. But he's kind of a diva isn't he? Might not fit in in Indy.

Requiem

Lol indeed

Probably going to resign reed since he's not getting decent offers elsewhere
Signed Spears and Cantu who are great at stopping the run, bolstering the 20th ranked defense vs the run
Still in the mix for Dumervil as well as Dwight Freeney and Osi Umenyiora as upgrades to the defense.
The Ravens are getting back proven veteran players on defense after letting a couple of guys who combined to start 20 games in 5 years walk for $75 million combined in Ellerbe and Kruger.

Doubt the rest of the league will be lol'ing if the Ravens can upgrade their defense..

Ravens just lost 6 key D players from what I heard. Doesn't sound like an easy upgrade. Reed and Lewis alone are worth more than they're going to be able to replace.

They made the assumption that just because he was really fast, he'd easily could become a great WR in a short period of time.

In reality he ended up as one of their worst, lead the team in both dropped passes and fumbles, and became a lot more fatigued during games to the point it affected his kick return stats.

Now he goes back to his old spot where he excels the most while the team gets rid of a big liability they had at WR.

My hatred for Tony Romo stems from a co-workers obsession with the "Tony is an elite QB" conversation. He swears and lives by it, and despite the mediocrity the team has shown and critical errors Romo makes during critical times he refuses to admit his argument is out and out wrong. Couldn't care less if Dallas locks him down though, they have bigger holes that need to be filled that they aren't even concerned with.

If the NFL didn't fuck the cowpokes over and out of 10 million. In cap space this year I bet romo doesn't get that contract

Tony Romo isn't a bad quarterback, but he isn't a championship winning quarterback. He has been on very talented teams and failed to produce the big wins when they mattered most. It may be a team game, but he has played like fermenting pig shit in several playoff games or at key moments in said games. The only thing that matters is wins, losses, and championships. Back-to-back .500 seasons shouldn't be rewarded with the biggest contract in franchise history. Jerry Jones can go rot in a giant pile of gold coins like Scrooge McDuck for all I care. I sincerely hope Romo makes me look like a fool, but I imagine we'll get the same shit we've had for awhile. The Cowboys have yet to address any of their needs in free agency and the draft isn't a sure-fire way to correct those issues. Insanity is defined as doing the same action repeatedly and expecting a different result.

I am still a Cowboys fan and always will be, but the blood that shot out of my eyes when my phone lit up with this particular ESPN alert was quite the site to see. The Dallas Cowboys will be World Champions again, but it will be long after Romo is a footnote in NFL history and Jerry Jones is nothing but a memory and trust fund for his great grandchildren.

Donovan has come off bitter as fuck in some of his interviews and comments since retiring which is sad because even though he never won the big one, he had a great career.

Grimes goes to Dolphins for a one year deal. Miami seems to be winning in March. Let's see if it translates to actual wins in the regular season.

Birds have to go corner now. Would love to see them put together a package like they did for Julio and move up to snag Dee Milliner, but I doubt it. Deep enough class to where they can get a serviceable one at 30. Hell, they found Grimes in a dumpster and look how that turned out.

Not when there is a lack of QBs on the market and the draft. Romo got lucky.

Romo has won 1 playoff game that was against a McNabb Eagle team.

While McNabb has won 9 playoff games with a trip to the Super Bowl mixed in.

Raiders get Matt Flynn and the Cardinals are close to a deal for Carson Palmer.

Seahwaks rumored to be going after Matt Leinart to be Wilson's backup now that Flynn is gone.

Cardinals plans so far at the QB spot is to have Carson Palmer as the starter (once signed), Drew Stanton as his backup, Brian Hoyer getting traded away, and John Skelton being released (no trade value).
