So with the playoffs set, what transactions do you want non playoff teams to make??

New coach??

Draft trades??

Free agent signings??

As far as the Saints are concerned, they def need to do something with Spags defense.. It seems we have the talent on every level (all 4 of our starting d-line are former first rounders) but his safe zone scheme doesn't work with who we have..

As much as I'd hate it, I can see them trading Pierre Thomas.. He has 2 years left on his deal for just under $3 mill a year.. Don;t get me wrong, the guy is a beast and is prolly one of the best screen RB's in the league, but I think we could keep Sproles, Ingram, Ivory, and Cadet..

I can also see getting rid of Devery Henderson.. He has been a great speedster and a big time deep threat for years but this was his last year on his contract and we have a younger, faster, deep threat in Joe Morgan..

Need to see if the NFL will repay any of the draft sanction they put on us, since they pretty much renigged on every other punishment they bought down..

So, what do you want yr team to do in preperation of the 2013 season??

Andy Reid is rumoured to be flirting with Arizona. Lovie Smith in Kansas City/Philly are possiblities.

Ron Rivera better be packing his shit up. Mike Smith in Atlanta could be the surprise playoff Termination in an ungrateful Atlanta Georgia.

I hope Dallas hires a good OC, gets the interior OL fixed, get at least 1 good safety in the draft/free agency, and get a good young QB to push Romo and prep for the future. The Cowboys have about a 5 year window (tops) with this core nucleus of guys. If Romo can't do better with a good OL and handle the pressure of a young QB nipping at his heels, it is time to move on.

James Steele
01-01-2013, 02:53 AM
I'd also like Jerry Jones to retire/die and fire Garrett, but those are both unlikely and really mean thoughts.

Krimzon7
01-01-2013, 02:57 AM
What You'll get, Steele, is a Romo Extension, Jerry Jones inventing a way to be immortal and run the Cowboys forever and another wide receiver in the draft.

Congratulations! Your team just became the Raiders.

<font color=goldenrod>The Giants are obviously going to cut David Diehl, plus Will Beatty, Kevin Boothe, and Sean Locklear are all free agents. I really think the Giants need to draft an offensive lineman (preferably a tackle) in the first round this year. It's been seriously overdue.

That being said, Jerry Reese never uses his first round pick to draft for need. He always goes for the highest player on his board regardless of position. As cliché as it is to say, a defensive end in the 1st again wouldn't surprise me as a good pass rush is the heart and soul of the Giants defense. Osi will leave via free agency and Tuck could potentially be cut. A lot of mocks have Mingo from LSU falling to the Giants. I'd love that actually.</font>

<font color=goldenrod>Since I'm really bored, here's my take on the Giants' impending free agents:

UNRESTRICTED
-WR Ramses Barden: He actually showed some promise in the Carolina game but then wasn't really given anything to do the rest of the year. He'll go to another team and will probably get more playing time.
-T Will Beatty: Would like to keep him, but admittedly I don't really know what other offensive tackles will be available in free agency.
-TE Travis Beckum: Gone. Had a long TD against Green Bay last year. That's basically the only contribution he made in his entire Giants career.
-TE Martellus Bennett: Would like to keep him. Supposedly he'd take a discount to stay. Nice red zone threat, also he could recruit his brother to sign as well. As a bonus - he gives hilarious interviews.
-DT Rocky Bernard: Could go either way. He's not particularly good but depth along the defensive line never hurts. I imagine he's only looking for a 1 year contract.
-LB Chase Blackburn: I love Chase and will always appreciate his interception in the Super Bowl last year. That being said he seems much better suited to special teams. Not sure who else is available to fill the hole at middle linebacker though.
-G Kevin Boothe: Would like to keep him, he can play several positions and is pretty solid all around.
-QB David Carr: I'd keep him. Why not? They're probably fucked if Eli ever gets hurt, but I'd rather have a veteran in an emergency instead of some rookie.
-WR Domenik Hixon: Fair play to him for staying healthy. He's certainly not a bad guy to keep around for punt returns, but offensively his impact will be scaled back with Randle now clearly the #3 WR.
-T Sean Locklear: He brings a nice veteran presence, I wouldn't mind keeping him around.
-RB Kregg Lumpkin: Gone. Was only brought in for an emergency.
-TE Bear Pascoe: Wouldn't mind keeping him just because he has an awesome name.
-S Kenny Phillips: Unfortunately he's probably a goner. He's been maligned by injuries but is probably still in line for a big payday. Not sure he's in the Giants' price range.
-LB Keith Rivers: He was decent when he played, but he just couldn't seem to stay on the field. I seem him ending up on another team.
-DT Shaun Rogers: Forgot he was even on the roster. He might just retire.
-RB Ryan Torain: Gone. Same exact deal as Kregg Lumpkin.
-CB Justin Tryon: Most likely gone. He's not really anything more than depth. Got completely burned every time he was forced into the game.
-K Lawrence Tynes: He doesn't have that strong of a leg, but I'm still pretty sure the Giants will keep him due to lack of options. Just can't see Reese drafting a kicker.
-DE Osi Umenyiora: Easily gone. He's been asking for a significant pay raise for years and despite his age he'll finally get his chance to get it from another team. He came across as a huge asshole at times, but I'm still going to miss him.

RESTRICTED
-RB Andre Brown: Proved to be a solid goal line back, so he's worth keeping. Assuming Wilson is given more work next year, it could be a fun 3 RB system with Bradshaw, Brown, and Wilson.
-S Stevie Brown: What a find this guy was. No way Reese doesn't keep him, especially with Phillips probably departing.
-WR Victor Cruz: Slam dunk keeper here. He proved that 2011 was no fluke. I know the Giants' cap situation is tight, but I really hope they find a way to give him his much-deserved pay raise.</font>

Think the special franchise tag would be around $15-$21 million per year with the high amount if no team with a Top 5 value QB reworks their contracts and the low amount if they all did.

If I were Alex Smith, I'd be pushing for a trade to KC. The fan base would be welcoming, Andy Reid is the coach and there are some pretty good offensive weapons with Jamaal Charles and Dwayne Bowe (assuming he reups or is franchised).

Would be a good move considering how weak the draft is this year for QBs so they can spend the pick on improving something else.

Dude I'm feeling the same way. They're young too. I'm not saying they're invincible or will even have a Patriots/Cowboys type of dynasty run, but they'll definitely be a team that every other team will fear playing in the playoffs no matter how they're seeded or what they did in the regular season.

I'm just hoping Atlanta focuses on the defensive side of the ball this offseason, particularly at DE. Having Grimes back should definitely help the secondary.

I really do think the Colts might move for Revis. Revis and Vontae Davis would be the best CB duo in the league. Davis was quietly outstanding last year . Especially towards the end of the year when it really counted.

Next Big Thing
02-05-2013, 02:44 PM
True, but that probably won't stop Revis from demanding to be the highest paid defensive player in the league and with a young team that did manage to make the playoffs, I don't know if it makes sense to tie up salary cap space on one player.

There are also some good CB prospects in the draft that the Colts could get at a favorable salary and no complaining for the duration of that first contract under the new CBA.

If you watched the games week in week out you would know. Watching as fan I thought the run blocking was pretty poor (and I think it was to a degree) because Bradshaw would get bottled up or stuffed or whatever.

When Wilson and Brown got chances all of a sudden there was yardage to be had. The difference? Wilson and Brown often run the ball straight downhill. Bradshaw tries to be shifty when it isn't necessary.

That aside, the guy has a great spirit. Great team guy. He can still go but not as a feature back because of continual injury concerns.

Personally, for the near future I'm over the Steelers in terms of being a threat in the afc north. Almost want to say they'll finish behind the Browns..

Now c'mon Droford. I know you are a hardcore Ravens fan and all but you can't honestly be serious about that statement. I picked the Steelers to go 8-8 at start of season and that's how they ended but seriously. If they would have won 1 game they "should have won or at least didn't fuck off during" aka Tennesee, Oakland, Cleveland, Dallas. They would have been in playoffs. Hell I figure if wasn't Bryon Leftwich in the first game may have beat the recently crowned World Champs both times this year. This was their down year. On a down year and with a Starting WR who didn't give a fuck in Wallace they finished .500. Fandom aside you can't be serious they will finish behind Browns.

3-3 in the John Harbaugh era. Only team to beat tom Brady at home in the playoffs twice.

Also funny they've only had to come to m&t bank stadium twice (1996 was at memorial stadium) and if you remember the 07 game a bad ravens team came real close to ending their undefeated season.

They can't get much worse on offense. LSU is about as incompetent on offense as it gets for an "elite team". Les Miles plays puckerbutt football until he decides to randomly make some "crazy/ballsy/stupid call" to live up to his Mad Hatter gimmick. Been like that with all of his OCs. LSU wins in spite of Les Miles and not because of him.

You can thank us(more specifically Paul Brown and everyone associated with them before dumbass Mike took over) for such great things as:

The west coast offense: That's right fucknuts Bill Walsh developed it right in Cincy, he took his ball and went to Stanford/San Fran when Paul Brown annointed Forrest Gregg HC. A bit of Poetic Justice for him to win that SB in Detroit.

We also invented Helmet radios, tiger striped helmets, and the No Huddle Offense.

We also pretty much invented the first round bust with Kijana Carter Dan WIlkerson, Akili Smith and Peter Warrick.

<font color=goldenrod>Anquan Boldin says he will retire if the Ravens release him. He might want to get those retirement papers ready because money is looking like it will be tight with Flacco's deal up along with several other starters.

Such is the reason why repeating in the NFL is a very hard thing. It's just very difficult to keep a Super Bowl team together. There will always be some key guys that leave via free agency.</font>

Flacco, Boldin , ellerbe, reed and krueger will all be playing for the ravens on 9/5

One current rumor or possibility has the Patriots trading Wes Welker for Harvin but Minnesota would want Welker to have a new deal or at least franchise tagged before considering it. Another scenario has them trading for Harvin but managing to keep Welker as well.

Could make the same claim about the conference championships since those determine who makes it to the SB. Only difference is people almost never complain about those being outdoors or the weather being a factor like they do with the SB.

Because the conference championship games' location is based on seeding, not a random "neutral" site that is chosen..

I don't think the NFL is worried about playing the game in snow as much as they're worried about the kind of snow storm that would interfere with logistics and transportation like the one this past weekend. In fact, they're probably banking on some snow to add a new gimmick and level of intrigue to the Super Bowl because they're trying to be too clever for their own good.

Either way it's stupid and kind of fucks the fans that bought tickets and booked hotels for that particular weekend who might not be able to see the game if they delay it by a few days. They better be prepared to hand out refunds too if they pull some bullshit like that.

Narc that could really be said of any team with good skilled players.. If the Pats get him and keep Welker, they could have Harvin, Welker, Gronk, and Hernadez, with another WR or a RB..

If the Saints get him (won't happen) you'd get Harvin, Colston, Moore, Graham, and Sproles..

I don't see Harvin wanting to go to the Bengals though. It's like going from one marginal playoff team to another and since he's in the last year of his contract, any team that trades for him is going to want to make sure he is willing to sign a long term deal because of what they'll be required to give up.

I see the Pats packaging Welker and a couple of picks for him.

My 2013 Mock Draft:
1. Chiefs - A defensive lineman you are skeptical of
2. Jaguars - A player you weren't familiar with
3. Raiders - The fastest player at the combine
4. Eagles - A big name with a questionable attitude
5. Lions - A wide receiver
6. Browns - A bad QB
7. Cardinals - Surprisingly, a pick you really like
8. Bills - An "overdraft" 9. Jets - "BOOO!"
10. Titans - A phenomenal athlete
11. Chargers - A defensive player that you're surprised was still available
12. Dolphins - A reach
13. Buccaneers - A player that is "just perfect for that defense"
14. Panthers - Something compared to Julius Peppers
15. Saints - "I think this guy is going to help turnaround that defense" but then doesn't.
16. Rams - "Finally someone to help stabilize that offensive line" but then doesn't.
17. Steelers - A "hard-nosed, tough as nails" defensive player
18. Cowboys - A "steal at 18" 19. Giants - "BOOOO!"
20. Bears - A replacement for someone old
21. Bengals - I don't know but you need to post his bail first
22. Rams - "Finally someone to catch a pass" but then doesn't
23. Vikings - An elite talent or Christian Ponder
24. Colts - Unless it's the #1 overall pick, you are not familiar with this player
25. Seahawks - A guy that you either thought would go "late 2nd, early 3rd" or literally did not know existed
26. Packers - Someone "tough in the trenches"
27. Texans - Defense 28. Broncos - Literally anything from Von Miller to Tim Tebow
29. Patriots - A defensive back that disappoints
30. Falcons - A pick you genuinely like
31. 49ers - Someone that will be inactive for all of 2013
32. Ravens - A guy that actually is a steal and you have no idea why the Ravens are getting another stud defensive player

All the people who are yelling because holding the super bowl outdoors in the winter takes away the neutral site concept should realize that the NFL has been playing with fire for most of the super bowls given its a chance a team could play on their own home field at some point. How unfair to the other team would that be? It'd be hilarious, I suppose..if the super bowl next year is jets/giants

This is why the NFL loves NOLA cause the Dome is downtown and with in walking distance to the french quarter, the marigny, the cbd, warehouse district, lower garden district, etc so it's pretty much a 20 minute walk from hundreds of hotels and thousands or restaurants, bars, and other touristy attractions like the french market, river front, aquarium, casinos, convention center, arena, etc..

I heard the most wonderful news on the 680 the Fan ATLANTA today. The 'Aints are $20 million over the salary cap and will probably have to cut Vilma, Smith and Pierre Thomas among others and that's even if Brees and others restructure.

And of course there is no 2nd round draft pick either. Ouch!

That defense is going to be so bad, it will be ranked 33rd in the NFL! I don't care what you have to say to the contrary Kris P because it will just be the delusion talking. Get your paper bag ready son!

On the point of PT, Vilma, and Smith, they could all go IMO..

PT is the fucking man and I absolutely love him but I feel that Sproles, Ingram, Ivory, and Cadet could all be just as successful without him.. We would miss him on early downs cause of the screen or run threat but it's not like our run game has been great anyway..

Vilma, who I also love, fizzled when the Jets switched from a 4-3 to the 3-4, which ultimately was the reason they traded him to us.. Saints are now switching to the 3-4.. I realize he is now playing OLB so it might be different, but I guess we will see..

Smith was a beast early on but has struggled getting to the QB.. He is good a stopping the run but again, I dunno how he would do in the 3-4..

I wonder how owenbrown feels about this..

All depends on how he can help the defense... they need to pick up some good defensive players in the draft, however, most mock drafts are projecting that Tennessee is going to draft Alabama G Chance Warmack. I guess they also need some work on the O-Line as well.

<article> <header> Titans 2013 schedule: Easier slate expected next season

By Matt Rybaltowski | CBSSports.com
<time class="storyDate" pubdate="" datetime="2013-01-02T06:12:00Z">January 2, 2013 1:12 am ET</time>

</header> In 2012, the Tennessee Titans (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/TEN/tennessee-titans) arguably had the most challenging early-season schedule of any team in the NFL. In 2013, the Titans could receive a bit of a reprieve.
With a third-place schedule, the Titans opponents' next season have a .500 winning percentage in games from the 2012 regular season. Tennessee will play seven teams next year that will be coming off a losing season, including the Chiefs (2-14), Jaguars (2-14), Raiders (4-12) and Cardinals (5-11). This season, the Titans faced six teams that finished with 10 wins or more.
The most intriguing game of the season could be against the Rams in St. Louis. It will be the first time that former Titans coach Jeff Fisher (1994-2010) will face his old team since becoming the head coach of the Rams in 2012. Former Titans DB Cortland Finnegan leads a Rams' secondary that finished the regular season with the 10th highest interception rate in the league.
When the Titans travel to Seattle to face the Seahawks, it will be a homecoming of sorts for QB Jake Locker (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1117861/jake-locker). The Titans' starting quarterback grew up in Ferndale, Wash. and played collegiately at the University of Washington. Backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/12429/matt-hasselbeck) is the Seahawks' all-time franchise leader in career completions.
Titans 2013 schedule
Home: Texans, Colts, Jaguars, Chiefs, Chargers, Cardinals, 49ers, Jets.
Away: Texans, Colts, Jaguars, Broncos, Raiders, Rams, Seahawks, Steelers.

Cutting Webster would save about $7 million off the 2013 cap, cutting Diehl would save around $5 million. Would seem like cutting both would be a no-brainer, but it hasn't happened yet. Lol. He wins the Super Bowl and still nobody has enough faith in him to cash out.

At current levels of top-five quarterback pay, Flacco’s tender as of April 19 would lock in at $20.464 million. That would make Flacco eligible for a 2014 franchise tender of $24.55 million, based on the rule guaranteeing a franchise player a 20-percent raise upon the second use of the tag.

And then, if the Ravens were to use the franchise tag for a third time in 2015, Flacco would be eligible to receive a 44-percent raise. Which would translate to a franchise tender of $35.36 million.

That’s a three-year haul of $80.37 million. Which, under the exclusive tag, becomes the starting point on a long-term deal

With the non-exclusive tag, which starts at roughly $14.6 million in 2013, the three-year total would be $57.34 million ($14.6 million with a 20-percent raise will be $17.52 million in 2014, which grows to $25.23 million with a 44-percent raise in 2015).

So while the difference between the non-exclusive tag and the exclusive tag amounts to less than $6 million in 2013, the gap by 2015 will be $23 million. And the total difference over three years will be $36 million.

They can't pay flacco $35 million a year..not happening..that's why they will go non exclusive. They can match any other teams offer and if they don't they get 2 first round draft picks.

Star Lotulelei might have to back out of this year's draft after recent medical tests red flagged him with a serious heart condition that was never discovered while in college.

Was being projected anywhere between #1 overall to #5 for this year's draft.

Lotulelei was discovered to have an abnormally low Ejection Fraction, detecting that the left ventricle of his heart was pumping at only 44 percent efficiency, sources said. The normal range is between 55-70 percent efficiency.

The 6-foot-2, 311-pound Lotulelei will undergo further testing in Salt Lake City in an effort to seek more clarity with the condition, a source said. If it's a confirmed chronic condition, medical experts consider it an indication of possible heart damage.

Brady and Patriots agree to a new 3-year contract extension worth $27 million.

Brady gets his goal of wanting to play until he's 40 (2017) and the Pats get their goal of freeing up more cap space ($21 million overall) for the next few years.

Baring a serious injury, also ensures Ryan Mallet has a few more years to develop and to get his O line ready for when he takes over.
