I know everyone knows this but it's for lazy ppl

In year's past, the SmackDown series has seen its ups and downs in regards to its season interface. First-person arena exploration, menu-driven text links, and variations on both methods have all been used from year-to-year for mixed results. But this season things look to be much better in the character navigation department as THQ has included an all-new 3D locker room feature that allows players to customize their very own home base just the way they want it.

Similar to the "Crib" option found in Visual Concepts' 2K Sports series, the Locker Room can be accessed inside and outside of season mode at any time (unless, of course, you're in the middle of a match) and acts as your hub for all things wrestling. Players who access their locker room during a season, however, get three exclusive options not offered directly from the main menu: Cutscene Costume Assignments, Royal Rumble Number, and Cutscene Subtitles.
The costume assignments don't apply to wrestlers without alternate outfits, of course, but if your guy happens to sport one (aka Triple H, Kane, John Cena, etc), you'll be able to switch between them with no problem. The cutscene subtitle option is pretty self-explanatory so there's no need to explain that one, but the Royal Rumble number is actually pretty cool. You see, the more you win over the course of the season, the higher your Royal Rumble number is when the event comes in January (thus increasing your chances at winning a title shot). If you continue to lose match after match, however, your guy will fall down the ranks and eventually be pick number one. It's a cool little feature to be sure.

Welcome to your Locker Room!

Perhaps the most impressive locker room feature in the bunch is the option to modify it until your heart's content. There are more than 200 customizable items in all and the possibility of thousands of different combinations. There are even special themes that players can pick for their room if they're fans of a particular subject (NWO, Kurt Angle, and Hulkamania, to name a few) and nearly 40% of all items are available from the start.

In order to unlock the rest, users will have to earn trophies by completing specific challenges, winning season modes, and by discovering other secrets hidden in the game. Once earned, each trophy will have an assortment of goodies attached to it that include cash, unlockables, and various shop zone purchase options. Most of these will then allow you to customize a number of different portions of your locker room -- Room Lighting, Wall, Floor, Furniture, Locker, Training Machine, Sound System, Trophies Case, Belts Case, and Collection Items can all be altered to reflect your own personal style. So if you want to place a replica of Kane's mask on your desk, you can go ahead and do so. If you'd rather stick a WCW poster up over your television set instead, you can do that too.

Getting these items won't exactly be easy either; the four different challenge options (Amateur, Rising Star, Superstar, and Legend) all bring their own unique goodies to the table. The cool thing is, not all of them play the same. An amateur challenge, for instance, may only require you to perform four finishers in a single match or maybe steal a taunt to earn your rewards. Higher up the food chain, however, things get a little bit tougher. We don't want to give the cooler features away, so the examples are going to remain a secret (for now), but trust us when we say that a lot of them are very tough, very unique, and very cool. There are even certain challenges that you can participate in with a buddy and the option to load certain challenges from scratch to set up scenarios rather than having to stumble on them.

But customization isn't the only thing that players can do in their locker room. After leaving the desk (used for checking challenges, visiting the WWE Shop, changing season mode subtitles, and checking profile stats), players can also head to their locker (change costume assignment), visit their training equipment (to increase attributes via experience points), check out their Wall of Fame (for viewing earned belts, title histories, and trophies), or move on over to a television set where they can select which load screens that want to see between matches. Users can even save up to six different profiles per memory card so that they can have, in effect, six different locker rooms.

As you can see, this feature has a lot of potential and it's definitely one of our favorite aspects of the game so far. While I'm pissed about the Hogan thing, too, at least the overall number of legends is similar to years past. Just the two "bonus" legends are both the same guy. I'd much rather see them as Mr. Perfect, Rick Rude, Owen Hart, Randy Savage, etc, but I'll make do with what they give me.

On the plus side, the locker room option looks fantastic. Yet another reason why I can't wait to play this game.

It's really the only mode I can think of where injuries could be a factor. I imagine it'd simply be a way of setting matches, feuds and storylines...maybe with a ratings system? Maybe every wrestler in the game will have a contract and you might have to compete with the other brand?

That would be pretty fun, but I could definately see it getting old fast. If you could actually book the winners of the matches and finishes and whatnot (ala EWR), it would be awesome though. Imagine booking HHH or Hogan to lose to a diva cleanly or something, and then watching it all happen :lol:

I certainly would love to have this mode in the game, and I'm eagerly waiting for IGN to announce the new mode.</font>

forgive me for being negative: But why do the commentaters not call the moves? When someone does a scoop slam, JR should simply say the two words 'scoop slam'. When someone does a spine buster, JR should say something like ' He slammed him down with a spine buster' etc.

I don't like it when there are two guys in the ring and this is what happens:

punches....commentaters stay quiet......scoop slam....still quiet.....back drop.....irish whip.....hip toss....THE FANS LOVE JOHN CENA!.....kick to the stomach....quietness.....suplex....headlock....I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MATCH ALL NIGHT!.....irish whip.....back body drop.....drop toe hold....YOU KNOW KING, I THINK JOHN CENA IS A GREAT CHAMPOION!

And it goes on. Not one move is every called except reversals and pins.
Maybe they can fix this next time.

i'm really not into making wrestlers unless I like them hardcore and they didnt' make the game... the only wreslter i can recall making on any wrestling game is Jeff Hardy on HCTP

I just find it more fun to make my own characters up with friends, create our own rivalries and have imaginary storylines with them >.>

we're thinking of starting to keep match/title records for our characters... god we desperately need lives...

Video 1 - The Entrance

No music plays and Daivari comes out wearing the WWE TAG TEAM TITLE! He struts his way down to the ring and gets up on the turnbuckle and gives the crowd evils. Detail on the belt looks great.

Video 2 - Fight Time

Daivari nails Spike with three knee's before slamming his skinny ass down to the canvas. A flapjack is delivered after a headlock takedown-dropkick to his head from Daivari. Daivari sends Spike into the corner and executes a neckbreaker from the top rope to him.

Video 3 - The End

Daivari knocks Spike down with a running forearm. Spike then gets his head rammed into the mat and then Daivari nails Spike in the balls with the heel low blow from SvR. Daivari then gets the three and celebrates.

God, I go out for one night and so much to talk about.

Even though I was a Hogan mark back in the day, and marked out like a bitch at Mania 21, I think three Hogan's are abit much. Although I am happy with the legend list this year.

The locker room seems like a really interesting feature, can't wait to check it out.

*body damage can heal over time
*AI now drags opponent to middle of ring if near ropes
*Different camera angles during same persons ring entrance
*No load up screens between intros and match
*Full 3D audience
*Jake comes to ring with Damien
*chairs don't break or dissappear

1st match: Rey vs. JBL
*Rey comes out to "619" with his pop out from the ground
*Limo pulls up and JBL climbs out of the car, walks to ring
*JBL does the put out cigarette powerbomb for finisher
*JBL loses all his stamina and flops around trying to catch a breath
*JBL does a possum pin
*Rey does a possum pin
*Rey still does the 619 into West Coast Pop
*Rey taps out to a single leg crab
*lasted about 10-11 mins

2nd match: Fatal 4 way Benoit, Jordan, Christian, Booker T
*Benoit has the yellow/red 4 real tights
*Booker comes out next and stares down Benoit, where both are in the ring
*Christian comes out to current music but generic tights
*Jordan comes out to current music with the chief of staff titantron
*Benoit does a new mudstomp while opp. locked up on ropes
*Benoit possum pins on Booker and gets the win while CC and OJ fight outside
*Confetti falls a lot while Benoit celebrates

3rd Match: Orton vs Taker (Buried Alive)
*Buried alive match only avail. as a survivor series ring
*Fight on top of the barricade
*only match not simmed, they tried to sim and it was still going at over an 1hr 20 mins
*Taker runs out of stamina and starts doubling over
*Jeremy destroyed the guy playing Taker and put him in the casket
*After Randy wins, a bulldozer pours dirt over the coffin and covers it.
*Lightning bolts strike the nearby tombstone

4th match: Batista vs. Eddie
*Batista's new music and new entrance but not the pyros
*Eddie has new music, and shows off hydrolics of lowrider
*Eddie's first move is almost an F-U
*Eddie runs out of ring to regain stamina

Yes, and that was a point at which The Doc criticized that game, because all of the Foleys had the same moveset. They could have compressed that space into one character across 3 entrances.

In Wrestlemania 2000, at least the 3 Foleys had different movesets.

As someone who played the first SmackDown vs. RAW pretty extensively, one of the features I was looking forward to most this year was an improved online mode. As some of you may remember, last year's online feature was thoroughly under-realized with few options worth noting and little to do outside of the typical exhibition match. Luckily, WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2006 (http://ps2.ign.com/objects/717/717798.html) aims to move beyond the bad memories of 2004 and into the future -- where players can do just about anything they want against other users.

Evidence of that growth can be found in the latest build of SmackDown vs. RAW 2006, as the online portion of the game has finally been opened up so that we can see those changes for ourselves. The good news is that a lot of our problems from last year have been fixed. Up to four players, for example, can now participate in almost every supported match type at once. And while the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber still can't be played online, a ton of other matches can be. Which matches would those be? Glad you asked! Here they are:

Single, Tag (Normal, Tornado, Elimination Normal and Elimination Tornado), Special Referee, Triple Threat, Fatal 4-Way, Handicap, Backstage Brawls, Battle Royal (Four Player only), Buried Alive, First Blood, Fulfill Your Fantasy, Hardcore, Hell in a Cell, Iron Man, Ladder, Last Man Standing, Steel Cage, Submission, Table, TLC, and Title Matches.

Yes we said title matches. For the first time ever, players will be able to defend user-created belts online against their opponents just like they always wanted to. And since ten created belts can be held on a single memory card at one time, an awful lot of title defenses can be participated in. Luckily, players won't be able to trick the system into letting them keep their titles if they lose either, as the server automatically rips the belt from your memory card the moment the challenge is accepted. This means that should a player lose and not want to part with his strap, that's too bad for him -- the server will transfer it to the winner's memory card.

Assuming they don't have a title to defend, players can also gamble a bit and take part in "Cash vs. Title" matches. THQ Creative Director Cory Ledesma states that, "this is a great way for people to be competitive online against champions regardless of their belt status, so that should be a big plus." Tag Team champs can defend their titles too, and you can engrave your new straps in the "Create-A-Belt" screen after you've won them just as you can when offline. Sadly, an option to create custom tournaments and headset support will not be included for this year's version, but at least there will be keyboard support in the lobby again. Cable and DSL users should also be happy to know that the game is broadband only -- so dial-up WWE fans looking to rumble online may want to consider getting an upgrade.

THQ will also be keeping server-side rankings for every player that enters their name in the database. Powered by GameSpy, the SmackDown server will keep total Wins, Loses, Win Percentage, Winning Streaks, Disqualifications, Title Match Victories, Title Defenses, Longest Title Reign, and Title Value / Prestige. These stats will ensure that players can find the top ranked gamers in their class whenever they hop online and also help them spot cheaters since the game won't be supporting any anti-cheat device software (yeah, that one's a bummer).

But that's not all (we've saved the best for last). The biggest, most impressive feature of the entire online mode will be the ability to trade created wrestlers online from one user to another. Gamers will no longer have to worry about typing up huge lists of numerical values in order to let other people make their favorite creations -- now it's as simple as logging on, going into a lobby, previewing someone's Created Wrestler, and trading. And to answer the inevitable question of "how many guys can you make," the final number is just under 30 per memory card (though you can't import any of them into season mode beyond the one player character).

Unfortunately, THQ's SmackDown vs. Raw 2006 servers weren't up and running in time for us to report on lag and connection issues, but even if it has the same latency as last year, it's a positive sign... especially with this year's robust feature set. We'll be back with more in the coming weeks.

Well it could actually work.
Heres how:

- We get someone to create the title and then we make a sign up thread.Maybe make sure people have a certain amount of posts before signing (say 1000) so we don't get random guys signing up with 2 posts and then winning the title and running off with it.

-You can only be title-challanged by those who have signed up in the thread.

Then from there maybe have either:
A) a KOTR style tournement but that may take too long.
or
B) we vote who should be the default champion and the guy with the 2nd highest number of votes can be the first challenger.

- Then from then on we can use that thread as possibley a thread the champ can say when he/she is going to be available on line in the game for a title match.

- Challangers can request title matches and the champ can decide yes or no.

- The champ must defend the title at least a set ammount of time a month.Maybe at least 2 or 3 times a month?

- Failure to defend the title the minimum ammount of time means you are stripped of the title and it is given to the champ you won it from.

- Obviously the champ could agree to a match but say "I'll have a match with you but not for my title yet.Maybe if you win this one" and basically we could in theory get quiet a few good stories and stuff from this.

- If its possible and it got "hardcore" enough I'm sure someone would watch the match and then up load it here for everyone else to see lol.

- Challengers must risk a certain ammount of ingame money so the champ has a reason to retain his belt.

- If we find out the champ and/or challanger is using a gameshark or other such things then obviously they would be out of the title hunt. The same applies if you are banned.

Thats just a quick idea with rules and ideas sll over the place.If I had time and you wanted it I would probably do it much neater and specific :y:

LOL WTF @ his music! Regal comes out and makes his way down to the ring. He whips his feet before actually entering and then starts a little warm up.

Video 2 - Fight Time

Regal lands a sunset flip for a no count and then hits a T-Bone suplex. He follows up with a Butterfly suplex and a lands a couple of punches to the head.

Video 3 - The End

Regal has Scotty facing the ring post in the turnbuckle and lands a couple of stiff shots to his kidneys. When Scotty least expects it, Regal nails him with the Brass Knucks and gets pinned for the three count. Regal then celebrates.

I wish they would redo the I Quit Match and since they have the wrestlers actually doin the voice overs now, you could actually hear them quitting. That was a really fun match. I don't even think it'd be that hard to remake...when you have the mic in hand press down+cirlce and have a submission meter appear.

Now, what would Tough Enough Mode consist of? Training to become a wrestler? Wouldn't that be almost like another Season mode? I'd love to see that, maybe a CAWs-only Season Mode that acts like Tough Enough, where you train with Al Snow and Bill DeMott or Hardcore Holly (Snow and DeMott could be hidden wrestlers then) and fight in different types of matches and are graded on whether you fulfilled a list of requirements for that match, like doing X amount of submission holds, X amount of grapple moves, etc.

That would kick ass actually.

It could be done like Fight Night Round 2. Training and also the sparring - obviously just make it wrestling orientated like reversals or the trainer calling out each move and you have to do that move. :y:

It would be great if it was more detailed like that.. maybe something for the PS3. :naughty:

I like to have plenty of suprises when i play the game.. i dont like to know too much. Ideally i wouldn't have looked to see who the legends where this year, curiosity got the better of me :'(

He does his retard thing to each side of the stage and then makes his way down to the ring. It's even got his new titan tron with him and Lita making out, yuck. He slides in the ring and taunts.

Video 2 - Fight Time

Jindrak gets a backslide pin on Edge before Edge recovers and gives him a standing Tornado DDT. A neckbreaker follows along with three knee's to the gut and a scoop slam.

Video 3 - The End

SPEAR! Edge then nails the three knee's to the gut and a scoop slam. He then sets Jindrak up for the Special Spear, which is done by the fallen guys head :cool: BANG he hits it and it's all over. edge then celebrates.

Dunham said that the general rule of thumb is that if they have a voice, they can be used in season......I'm just more concerned as to whether or not they were telling the truth about character-specific storylines.......since the 3 wrestlers seen in season so far (Orton, Xtian, Hogan), all seem to have the same storyline</font>
