What's their biggest hit song? I don't even know.
Scarlet Begonias? (More famous because it was covered probably)
Touch of Grey?

Right, anyone who doesn't use an official Rock Band mic (I can't find them in stores over here) can anyone reccomend a good one?
They're on EBay, but I'm loathe to order it as I need it by Saturday.
I'm using a Logitech USB mic that says it's designed for XBox compatability. Most USB mics will work, but this one's good and only like 20-30 bucks. I don't know if they sell them there, but I find them in like every store that sells game shit over here.

The Shins - "New Slang"

Wings - "Jet"
February 26 ("Bog Seger Track Pack")

February DLC
Pritty psyched for that Wonderwall cover.
Is that confirmed?
I've actually never heard the Seger version of "Get Out of Denver," but the Steaks cover is one of my favorite of their tracks.

I got a second hand Rock Band mic in town today and it's actually exactly the same Logitech mic thats designed for 360 compatability, just with the words Rock Band on the front.

Hey gang!
Here's the DLC announcement arriving on the week of 2/3. We're busting out a 3 pack of Thin Lizzy anthems from their new live cd, and backing that up with classic singles from The Pretenders and Pat Benatar, as well as two tracks from Nikko!
Here's the full scoop:
Thin Lizzy - Boys Are Back In Town (Live)
Thin Lizzy - Cowboy Song (Live)
Thin Lizzy - Jailbreak (Live)
The Pretenders - Precious
Pat Benatar - Hit Me With Your Best Shot
Nikko - Break My Heart
Nikko - Don't Tell Me
All tracks are original master recordings.
These tracks will be $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) a piece, or $5.49 (440 Microsoft Points) for the Thin Lizzy 3 pack, with the exception of the Nikko tracks which will run $0.99 (80 Microsoft Points) each.
You can find these songs in the Xbox Live Marketplace on Tues Feb 3rd, and in the Playstation Store on Thurs Feb 5th.
Meh, might get Thin Lizzy later on.

Sweet, we're getting a GNR album.
What?
WHAT DO YOU MEAN IT'S CHINESE DEMOCRACY?!?!
FUCK.
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/feature/the-billboard-q-a-axl-rose-1003939032.story
There was talk of a "Guitar Hero" or "Rock Band" download of "Chinese Democracy." Is either going to happen?
There is talk about a "Rock Band" release, and they felt the record-based on the nature and complexity of the depth of instrumentation-deserved a bit more attention and some more involved elements than they've generally dealt with. I have no idea what that means but it's my understanding they were very enthusiastic. We're looking at a Feb. 28 release, according to [executives at MTV responsible for] "Rock Band." ["Rock Band" has since changed the release date to spring.]

Hey gang!
Here's an early morning surprise for you... an announcement of the DLC arriving on the week of 2/10! We're probably going to be posting the DLC announcements around this time (10am EST) for the foreseeable future in an attempt to sync up with the European rockers waiting for the announcements, so get up early and keep your eyes peeled on Fridays from now on.
This week we're releasing a 3 pack from The Fratellis, featuring tracks from their 2006 album Costello Music!
Here's the track listing
The Fratellis - Creeping Up the Back Stairs
The Fratellis - Flathead
The Fratellis - Henrietta
All tracks are original master recordings.
These tracks will be $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) a piece, or $5.49 (440 Microsoft Points) for the full 3 pack.
You can find these songs in the Xbox Live Marketplace on Tues Feb 10th, and in the Playstation Store on Thurs Feb 12th.

I'm surprised you were nonplussed by the Dead, but There were some songs I really enjoyed. I need to clear off my kit so I can drum to MoB. A couple of the Country pack were REALLY fun (I only have bullets and lead and Sin Wagon...I know, LOL Dixe Chicks), and I was a fan of the Century Media pack.

I've been loving the content. I mean, I don't like everything for sure. I skipped the dead, got three-ish No Doubt songs because I thought they'd be fun to play, and dodged a lot of the rest, but it's not bad. Just not what I want. Though some of it is. I mean, I love the Lizzy tracks. :D

It does help keep it from being mistaken for just another note. Aside from being an important foundation of most pop/rock music, it is kind of...Placed somewhere else.
I hate how you have to place the actual pedal in the middle. Would be a lot more comfortable to me if I could put it off to the side.

Set it up on a tabletop and you can put the pedal wherever you please.
The thing I hated most about the RB base kit was the pedal. On just about every level--construction, placement, the stupid phone cord shit (Or: Hey, I'm over 6 feet tall, if I adjust the drums to a proper height, the pedal is likely to pop up into the air!!!!!!), etc.

Texas Flood from the original GH
So I can now do some songs on expert. Spiderwebs is probably my favorite. I use it to warm up with. Got the Flawless Fretwork my first try on Roxanne. Pretty surprised I hit those 3 note chords. I still can't even do some songs on hard. Shackler's Revenge I fail out in the first 20 seconds or so, and that's on bass. :(

Got the Flawless Fretwork my first try on Roxanne. Pretty surprised I hit those 3 note chords.
I told you that was the easiest...
G, buy Roxanne. Shit is mad easy.
What, that is way too hard for me.
For some reason I remember you saying Today, and not Roxanne.
Can someone who has the impossible drum challenge unlocked invite me & Roxer so I do not have to do all the challenges leading up to it.
Can anyone do expert drums on the bottom 3 tier drum challenges?

Fuck.
Greedy bastards. They feel they're not getting enough from iTunes, too. The only reason they're targeting Rock Band is that they can't go toe to toe with iTunes and risk alienating the biggest online music distributor.
Considering how much money they make off each track compared to the people who distribute in these formats, the fuckers need to shut up.
Funky Fly

They get a flat rate of $23000 per licensed song. Most artist's iTunes sales tend to double or even triple after making an appearance in these games, so I don't even know what they are complaining about. They already lost to GH, so why try Rock Band when the precedent is set.

Dear David Wadding,
http://xbox360media.ign.com/xbox360/image/article/897/897508/rock-band-2-game-only--20080808103314398.jpg Band Savior - Be a savior 3 times during one song. 20G
You need at least 3 people in your band for this. Just get your overdrive halfway, tell one member to fail, save them. Have on member fail twice, then the other one fail once. Since if you fail three times, you can't be saved. If you have no one to do it with, you can plug in drums, the guitar and vocals at the same time on one box. Load up quickplay on Blitzkrieg Bop [or Hello There if you have not exported songs]. Play hard guitar and leave your drums and microphone to sit there, both on easy. You will be able to save your band mates twice each if you can get all the phases and you wont fail out. You dont need other this way. -Thanks to Maka.
Sincerely yours,
G

Some reviews on Amazon say that the so called "tips" which are actually covers, slip off.
Kane Knight
03-05-2009, 11:48 PM
Keep in mind that those tips aren't really designed for the heavy use that someone playing real drums or even fake drums will put them through. They're more for light practice.
EDIT: In other words, it's quite possible they slip off simply because the people are more active than the original product was intended to handle. I was looking at shit like this because the cymbals on my Ion kit are so loud. Instead, I found some cymbal mutes. I need to cut them down and attach them better, though.

Get up, get on up, as next week's Rock Band DLC (http://joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-weekly) brings some funkified freak and alternative rock. The funk pack includes the legendary performer James Brown and is labeled "01," which we'll take as some small sign that more funk is on the way. There's also several individual tracks from modern bands.

MTV Games, Harmonix and EA have announced the May 19 release date for Rock Band Track Pack: Classic Rock on Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, and Wii for $29.99. While GameStop revealed (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/11/rock-band-track-pack-classic-rock-is-real-coming-in-may/) the same date and price a few weeks back, following an ESRB listing (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/28/esrb-reveals-rock-band-classic-rock-track-pack/) a few weeks before that, today we have official confirmation, along with the full setlist (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/23/rock-band-classic-rock-track-pack-set-for-may-19-all-consoles/#setlist) (which is set in stone after the break).
Additionally, purchasers of the Xbox 360 or PS3 version can download -- free of charge -- the on-disc tracks onto the console's hard drive (via Xbox Live or PSN), integrating the songs with any preexisting Rock Band DLC. It's worth noting that the Track Pack offers a reduced cost per song ($1.50) when compared to the $1.99 single-track DLC price. Of course, if you're as impulsive as we are (we done bought all these classics -- twice), then this entire post isn't really worth noting at all.
Complete setlist:
Boston: "Peace of Mind" (1976)
Boston: "Rock and Roll Band" (1976)
Dead Kennedys: "California Über Alles" (1987)

GDC09: 'Rock Band' was almost 'Metal Lords' (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/27/gdc09-rock-band-was-almost-metal-lords/)

Senior designer Dan Teasdale unveiled (http://kotaku.com/5187105/harmonix-lists-rejected-rock-band-names) a series of rejected alternate titles for the music game at a GDC session.
The titles included winners like the aforementioned Metal Lords and Power Chords, and some that probably would have affected sales in the negative: Big Band Blowout, I Want To Be A Rockstar! One that, according to Teasdale, was rejected as something that would "never sell": Rock Band: World Tour. Actually, that one deserves its own line.
Rock Band: World Tour.

Still not as gay as Metallica.
Spongebob isn't as gay as Metallica.
The announcement for next week's Rock Band DLC (http://joystiq.com/tag/rock-band-weekly), featuring Toby Keith, has arrived five days earlier than normal. 8bitar Hero turns NES music into Rock Band tracks (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/04/07/8bitar-hero-turns-nes-music-into-rock-band-tracks/)

"Oh, please. You think Painkiller is tough? You should try The Moon theme (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_80PQ543rM) from DuckTales." We expect this phrase to soon become commonplace among the Rock Band and Guitar Hero elite as Insignificant Studios' recently unveiled 8bitar Hero program (http://www.insignificantstudios.com/8bitarhero/) begins its swift rise from general obscurity to rampant popularity.
The program works like this: as one person plays an NES emulator, 8bitar Hero breaks down the game's audio code into four Rock Band tracks in real time. The developer's site has a complex breakdown (http://www.insignificantstudios.com/8bitarhero/?page_id=2) of the algorithm that makes this Audiosurf (http://www.joystiq.com/tag/Audiosurf/)-esque gameplay possible, though we know the truth behind the program's inner workings -- it's magic. Possibly dark magic. Check out the video preview after the jump, and decide for yourself.

I'm not the biggest guns n' roses fan either, but that doesn't affect how fun it isto play that much. All the GNR stuff so far has been a blast to play, and the new band doesn't deviate too much from the style of the old one, so I'd still say it's a safe bet to get the whole album.
Bought the album. Used my "dirty" points.
I dunno, thinking of buying the No Doubt singles album too.

Got it. Went through it all on expert guitar. Pretty good, although I'd prefer to play slash over buckethead. Old stuff seemed a bit more fun, albeit, less challenging. IRS is probably the mst fun song, I'd say, so if you get just one. get that.
Also G, No Doubt album is alright, there are a lot better albums out there. Texas Flood, Screaming for Vengeance, and Ten, to name a few.
To this day, Screaming for Vengeance is still the most fun, imo.

No Doubt was kind of a pick and choose deal. I've got a few of the songs, but otherwise....
Then again, I only got four songs from Ten, so take it for what you will.
Priest is an awesome album download. I have most of the albums anyway. Crüe is pretty damn fun. The Cars' ST is one of my favorites.
I still don't have Texas Flood yet. No reason except I haven't had enough points for it any time I've had points to spare.
DMac's right. Next week had better be good. :D

Take a gander at the DLC coming out on the week of 4/21! To tie in with one of the current Rock Band sponsored tours, there's a sweet 7 track pack of REO Speedwagon and Styx songs to whet your classic rock whistle. Not enough? Top it off with a Hautewerk 3 pack for dessert! Here's the track listing:
REO Speedwagon - Riding the Storm Out
REO Speedwagon - Roll with the Changes
REO Speedwagon - Take It on the Run
Styx - Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)
Styx - Renegade
Styx - Too Much Time On My Hands
Styx / REO Speedwagon - Can't Stop Rockin'
Hautewerk - Alone in My Head
Hautewerk - I Know Where You Came From
Hautewerk - Stop Start Again
All tracks are master recordings. The Styx tracks are recent re records, and the Styx and REO Speedwagon collaboration Can't Stop Rockin' was recorded in anticipation of their tour together this year.
Release Dates:

Saw this on the RB website.
The following tracks will launch exclusively through Rock Band Unplugged on the PSP system for a limited time before becoming downloadable content for the other platforms:
3 Doors Down - "Kryptonite"
AFI - "Miss Murder"
Alice in Chains - "Would?"
Audioslave - "Gasoline"
Black Tide - "Show Me the Way"
Blink 182 - "What's My Age Again"
Freezepop - "Less Talk More Rokk"
Jackson 5 - "ABC"
Tenacious D - "Rock Your Socks
Definatley getting Kryptonite, Would?, and Gasonline when they become DLC.
Didn't say when they'd be available tho. The PSP game comes out June 9, so I'm guessing a month or 2 before they become DLC.
