Not a big fan of the fact that the Falcons need help right now and could go 11-5 and miss the playoffs.

Looks like it'll go to week 17 before we know if the Pats make the playoffs, assuming they don't lose next week and the Jets win. It's gonna be tough considering we're playing Arizona next, and Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald will probably set records for receiving yards against our miserable secondary.

Well it doesn't exactly matter when you reply with like 50 points of your own. That game was dead after the 1st quarter, that's not really a fair way to asses it.

Bret Favre, who leads the NFL in interceptions, was selected to the Pro Bowl. Phillip Rivers, who leads the NFL in TDs and QB rating, was not. Favre was not voted in by the fans, mind you, but selected as a backup. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME

And Ryan Clady, a tackle who has allowed only .5 sacks and 3 penatlies so far this season, was not voted to the Pro Bowl. Meanwhile, Jason Peters (11.5 sacks, 8 penalties) is a starter

He is now back at practice and will be starting this Saturday against Baltimore.

RP - ESPN was saying today that Dungy may step down this year and there is a good chance he'll take over in STL...

can you explain to me, is ESPN talking out their ass or is their a reason for this?

Cause, even if he's not the GM in indy would you really leave one of the best teams in football to rebuild a team so you can have control of player personel? or is their something else, like his family is there or something?

Cause it doesn't seem to make sense..

Mr. Monday Morning
12-20-2008, 05:59 PM
Last time Dungy and retirement were mentioned together he was meant to want to go be a pastor, probably down in Tampa I think. I don't know that he's ever gone on the record as saying that though. Either way can't imagine him going to STL, makes no sense at all.

RP
12-20-2008, 06:37 PM
ESPN are idiots. Dungy doesnt wanna coach much more. If he leaves this year, he's done with the league. He's not gunna go rebuild another team. Dungy has been saying for a few years now that he wants to do more important things with his life, including being with his family. Theres no way at all that Dungy is coaching the Rams next season. It wont happen. Thats just ESPN reporting fake stories.

KC up on miami.... nice... Miami loss this week and then they beat the Jets next week would be great.

but if the Pats win out and the Jets win out we have a better "common games" record and would win the tie breaker.

If the Phins win out, and the Pats win out, the Phins would get the common games tie breaker.

If the JEts and PAts both win out, the Jets would get in based on being 5-1 in the division. If the divisional records were to be tied, then it would go to common games which the Pats would have.

Well not everyone

On topic anyway, I am currently relegated to this Pats/Cards onslaught while there are at least 3 or 4 'good' games going on right now. It's nothing new and nothing that hasn't been complained about on many occasions, but still I would love to be watching Pitt/Tenn right now :(

Nah because I always get the JEts/Giants/Eagles game.

So I am getting the Jets/Seahawks at 4, as well as the Eagles/Skins at 4. And since this week I get two Fox games opposed to two CBS games, BAM the only game on tv for me is Pats/Cards.

I thought you would be on the same setup as me, seeing as how I am really not far from Philly. Are only the Eagles on for you at 4?

I can think of only one chair that I'd imagine is hot as hell. Defensive coord. Shanahan should get some heat and Jeremy Bates should get some heat (shit offensive play calling at times) but Slowik's defense has always been the constant negative.

I mean, come on, kinda hard to cover the pass when all CBs are atleast 10 yards off their man and the safteties are so far away they're irrelevant. And that's the coverage we're playing atleast 90% of the time. Pointless

How many D coordinators has Shanahan PERSONALLY hired & fired? He deserves just as much (dis)credit for the mess Denver has been in the last few years.

FearedSanctity
12-21-2008, 07:31 PM
I know. But it really seems as if Shanny can do no wrong in Bowlen's eyes, so firing him isn't really a consideration. All we can really do is keep hiring and firing DCs until either someone gets it, or Bowlen sees the real problem.

He needs to be.

You've got one of the leauge's hottest running backs in your offensive lineup. It's 3rd and 1. Why the fuck would you pass when you're QB has been wildly inconsitant all season? Why I ask you?

Nah, I wont deny that the team is on the radar for a move, but not to Toronto now.

Ted Rogers is dead, and the several games the Bills sold to Toronto have been a failure.

THe move to Toronto idea came when the Canadian Dollar was up.

Now that it is back down, and with the economy the way it is in both countries, as well the fact that Toronto doesnt give a shit about the NFL makes me think it is not an option.

Made cutting Chad Pennington worthwhile? If that didn't happen Miami wouldn't have gotten Pennington and the Dolphins wouldn't have been a contedner in the AFC East picture this year (can you even name the other QBs on their roster?) Jets might have been able to set up in the Dolphins absence (Favre would probably throw a demoralizing INT in an important game though so I doubt it) Stupid fucking Brett Favre fucked things up more ways than one this year for the Pats, although I don't think the Patriots would have made it very far in the playoffs - never know though.

Kinda glad the Chargers made it at 8-8 rather than the Broncos, seeing how at least the Chargers actually beat the Patriots (granted earlier on in the season before the offense/Cassell really got the shit going but still) unlike the the Broncos who got absolutely demolished (also demolished the 'Phins in their last meeting :( )

Apparently Shanahan said after the game that there will be no DC change for next year.

I understand it's a bad idea to have a third DC in 3 years, but come on. You can only be so forgiving for a first year. When your defense is so bad you break several team records for defensive terribleness....

The Broncos also yielded more than 400 points for the second straight year, while finishing in the bottom 10 in a wide range of other defensive categories in franchise annals, including first downs, rushing yards, passing yards, rushing touchdowns and average gain per play.

Broncos have asked the Bucs for permission to talk to Defensive Coordinator Raheem Morris about the head coaching spot.

lol remember when Belichek called that time out and ruined a field goal attempt and then put his poorly coached player out on the field and got a personal foul penalty and cost the Pats that game against the Colts this year, that coincidently if he had won, would have put them in the playoffs.

Oh man good times.

A player on my favorite team getting hurt doesn't impact decisions I make in my life, so if makes me a non-true fan then I guess I'm not.

The reason I haven't been posting is because I was busy with school and coaching. I sure hope Phillip Rivers watches out for those Indy fans though, because they haven't forgotten!!!!

Also I highly recommend everyone reads LT's "Over the Edge" book - it's pretty awesome. Some of the stories he has are unbelievable.

Gotta love all the Jets players throwing Favre under the bus. Especially Thomas Jones.

THE GUNSLINGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worried about Poili leaving the Patriots, could be in for some serious trouble if he bounces. Heard he has "ridiculous" demands though, almost so ridiculous that its like he doesn't want to leave NE.

I don't think McDaniels leaving would be as big of a deal, however the offense was pretty impressive this year considering Brady got hurt in the 1st quarter of game #1.
