I'll have you all know that my favorite player on the Denver Broncos football squadron at the moment is "The Pradator" Matt Prater
(that nickname is funnier in my head)

A bit of sad news. Bucs K Matt Bryant's infant son died yesterday morning. Cause is unknown at this time. Gruden doesn't know if Bryant will play this sunday.
Also, the word is that Troy Brown is expected to retire today.

Hm. Jackson blasts the QB change, says Bulger doesn't wanna play for Linehan anymore, and that several other players feel the same.
Jesus Christ. Can we forfeit every game this year please?

Why do you make such a big deal about what team gets talked about the most, it's a lot cooler to have your team knock out a division rival in the playoffs and then win the Superbowl than to have a team with a bunch of pop culture icons on it who get talked about a lot

I think the Titans have a good shot of it. I hate to say it, but now that our starting QB is benched, and Kerry Collins has taken the reigns, we're still a good team here in TN.
Gonzo
09-26-2008, 11:54 PM
Collins isn't that bad of a QB. If he gets protection he will light you up. I guess you could say that about any QB though. Hell, he took the 2000 Giants the Superbowl, so he has some credentials. I think he still holds the record for fumbles lost in a season though. My dad and I used to joke: Thats not an INT, thats not a fumble, thats a Kerry Collins.

Holy shit, SammyG, I'm sorry the Rams are going through so much crap right now.
Apparently Linehan and Holt hate each other, and there are some rumors of a trade.
Yeah. That's exactly what you need to do when you're 0 - 3 so far...Trade your best receiver. If I were a Rams fan, I'd want Linehan's head.
rofl if Linehan gets Holt traded and then gets fired, that would be so amazing.

Nah he didn't fuck it up. He got pushed in the back as he was going up at the LAST second, had that not happened it looked like he had it all timed perfectly to come down with it. If only :'(
But he is a safety, I say we put him in. He's won me over after that effort and that hit. Can't possibly be any worse than what we've got now. ALso, we'd cut Hamza Abdullah almost a week ago. Makes no sense considering he won the job from Ferguson last year and was the starter all through camp and the preseason. Pretty retarded considering he was young and looked as if he had a good future

IS LANE KIFFIN TRYING TO GET FIRED? (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/09/28/is-lane-kiffin-trying-to-get-fired/)
Posted by Mike Florio on September 28, 2008, 6:15 p.m.
With his job security thinner than Ally McBeal after a stint on Survivor, Raiders coach Lane Kiffin made a mind-boggling decision to end the first half of Sunday’s game against the Chargers.
Kiffin called for kicker Sebastian Janikowski to try a Gus-style 76-yard field goal.
Seventy. Six. Yards.
Antonio Cromartie of the Chargers, who returned a missed field goal 109 yards for a score last season against the Vikings, caught the ball at his own two, but only made it 26 yards before being tackled.
The Raiders still lead by 12. The fourth quarter is starting as of this posting.

So relieved the Jets got the win today. I think we had to win today to save our season. A 1-3 start would have just been crippling to everyone and everything to do with the franchise. 56 points will surely be a huge boost through the team now after everyone's doubts about the Favre relationship after the first 3 weeks. Bengals, Raiders and Chiefs up next, a potential 5-2 record after week 8 right there. Sounds good.

Any of you guys seen Emmitt Smith's mock drafts/quotes?
http://walterfootball.com/emmitt.php
http://walterfootball.com/draft2008emmitt.php
Example: New England Patriots: Rashard Mendenhall, RB, Illinois
The Patriots... they are an all-around good ball club. Their running back... Laurence M... M... Malone have been banged-up ever since he became a running back for the New England Patriots. New England have to draft a running back to run up the middle of that big ol' offensive line to score even more points so they can win Super Bowl XLIII this year and next year.
My sources telling me that NFL commissioner David Stern are trying to take these pick away from New England Patriots. I could not agree with those more. Roger Stern should also come up to Bill Billick's door and slap him upside down the heads. No one cheat in the Super Bowl and get away with it!
New England need to grab Rashard Mendenhall again in case they could not get him the first time around.

It'd be like the Skins not giving any touches to Portis or Betts. The fact that he didn't get the ball at any point is inexcusable and someone needs to call Wade Philips on that.

Dallas' problem is that they don't know how to adapt when a defense stops their running game. They just immediately give up and go to the outside. When the D hits them hard on the running game, they don't hit back.

That's wrong. The nature of the hit was unintentional. If it weren't for the original hit from behind, it comes off clean. Smith had no way of seeing it develop like that.

Haslet took the saints to the playoffs with Aaron fucking Brooks at QB, so he is not a horrible coach at all.
Jeff Blake had already won like 7 games that year before breaking his ankle.. Brooks came in and won like 3 games during the second half of the season going into the playoffs..
FYI
Haslett is a good D. Coor but a bad head coach.. He does good drafting defensive players but most of his offensive picks were whack (cept for DEEEEEUUUUUCCCEEE).. I forgot he was the Lambs D. Coor and then remembered when Sammy kept talking about Fakir Brown and Jason Craft.. His biggest problem with us was, he invest way too much into Aarron Brooks (after he won like 3 regular season games and one playoff game).. They wanted to make him a superstar QB but then after he started having knee problems, they kept him, trying to make him a pocket passer (we had both Jake Delhomme and JT O'Sullivan riding the pine, around that time).. Not a good idea when his biggest skill was rolling out of the pocket, buying the WRs time..
I was actually sad when they got rid of him just because of the Katrina situation.. I mean, no team can go an ENTIRE regular season on the road and be successful.. I mean, we had a fucking "home" game against the Giants in '05 that was played in Giants stadium.. I'm super happy with Payton (due to the fact the he is 10x the head coack Hasslet was) but I did think Hasslet got a raw deal after the '05 season..

The Cowboys losing on Sunday was the best thing that could have happened to them. They might actually take the time now to fix the problems they have unlike years past when they've cruised through most of the regular season then just totally crumbled in the playoffs. As we saw with New England, what you do in the regular season means shit if you don't win the Super Bowl.
That's the great thing about the NFL, it tests teams to be able to perform well and get results consistently over a period time, and tests how you cope in a knock out situation where it's one loss and you're out. This leads me to believe that Dallas can't handle pressure well at all.

CUTLER, BREES HEADLINE FIRST-TIME PLAYERS OF MONTH (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/10/02/cutler-brees-headline-first-time-players-of-month/)
Posted by Mike Florio on October 2, 2008, 1:06 p.m. EDT
We’ve already mentioned that Titans defensive end Albert Haynesworth has won the AFC’s defensive player of the month award for September 2008. Here are the other winners.
In the AFC, Broncos quarterback Jay Cutler is the offensive player of the month. He’s the first Bronco to win the prize since quarterback Brian Griese in September 2001.
Also, Chargers return specialist Darren Sproles is the AFC’s special teams player of the month. He gained 453 yards on 14 returns, including one touchdown.
For the NFC, Saints quarterback Drew Brees is the offensive player of the month. The last Saint so honored was running back Deuce McAllister in October 2002.
Charles Woodson of the Packers is the NFC’s defensive player of the month. He has three interceptions, including two that were returned for scores.
Eagles punter Sav Rocca is the special teams player of the month for the NFC. (And every time we think of Sav Rocca we think of this moment (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrbPxB8NWzI&feature=related).)
For each man, it’s the first player of the month award of their career. So congratulations.
Congratulations on having a player on a team you like win NFC Offensive Player of the Month.

Saints starting defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis left practice on Thursday to have his right knee examined.
"He felt it kind of click on him, so we sent him in to have it looked at,'' Saints coach Sean Payton said following practice. "Hopefully, it's nothing serious."
If Ellis cannot play against Minnesota on Monday night, it would be a blow to a defense expecting to be tested by Vikings running back Adrian Peterson. Ellis was picked seventh overall in this year's NFL draft and has started New Orleans' first four games.

Well they USED to be in the same division. Plus during that span in the late 90's/early 00's, they probably gained some enemies in the same way Dallas did in the early 90's and New England now by just being so good, they made people angry.
That's just a general reason why people could hate the Rams.

I don't buy into Dallas just for the fact that they haven't gotten it done in the playoffs. Two years running they could have won games and they haven't. The game in Seattle should have been a lock. The game against the Giants, well lets face it, it wasn't like McQuarters made some crazy good play, Romo threw the ball right at him. The opportunities are there. The team is stacked, offense, defense and special teams. In all honesty I think the NFC East is one huge injury away from making it clear who the winner will be. Each team has the potential to take the division.

I really want a new divisional set up.
The AFC North should be Buffalo, Pittsburg, Cleveland and Cincinatti. That way all 4 teams are within driving range of each other. That makes a good DIvision.
And to help they could adopt new divisions. Instead of having and AFC East and NFC East, howabout like the NBA, have different regions.
Like NorthEast (New York, New York, New England and Baltimore), West (SF, SD, Seattle, Oakland) Southeast (Miami, Jacksonville, Tennesee, Atlanta) and so forth, and maybe do east vs west like the NBA.
I just like change, I know it will never happen, but would be cool.

Sedrick Ellis, a rookie defensive lineman from Southern California, will miss two-four weeks with a torn medial meniscus, it was announced today after it was scoped this morning.
Ellis, the New Orleans Saints first pick in the 2008 NFL draft, has nine tackles, ranking 15th among rookies, and a sack. He got that sack against San Francisco's J.T. O'Sullivan last Sunday. He was also credited with a quarterback hurry.
Injuries have been a detriment to the Saints this season. Several players have missed time this season. Players out this week, according to Coach Sean Payton, are receiver David Patten (groin), receiver Marques Colston (thumb), tight end Jeremy Shockey (sports hernia) and cornerback Aaron Glenn (ankle).
Safety Chris Reis (hamstring) didn't practice Thursday, but his status for the game wasn't given.
Ellis, who has started every game this season on the defensive line, left Thursday's practice after hearing what he said was 'kind of a click' in his right knee.
The Saints drafted Ellis to help solidify a defense that was ranked 27th in overall defense, 29th against the pass, last season. During training camp Payton said that the rookie lineman was a 'quick study'. His teammates had compared him to former all-pros like Warren Sapp.
Ellis has displayed great burst and athleticism for his size and has given the Saints a lot in the area of run defense and a burst up the middle in the pass rush.

If we can stay at or over .500 ubtil the bye week, then we should have most of our injured players back for the second half of the season..
Ellis, Shockey, Colston, Evans, Stecker, Fujita, Gay, etc etc etc..
Then we can steamroll into the playoffs..

Seriously though, Carolina and Atlanta in the NFC WEST?! What was even the point in labeling them geographically. How they are now shows much more common sense. And having uneven number of teams in divisions just looks stupid. A problem that the MLB has currently.

DIck Jauron is so goddamn worthless.
Down by 14, inside your 35, a bogus fumble happens and he doesnt even challenege it. Had he, they would have kept the ball, instead, he handed the fucking game away.

Not sure where you get anything about uneven divisions, but While division are better now than they were, they are still off.
STL in the west etc

Every division had 5 teams except the AFC Central which had 6. And I know they can't be 100% accurate but they're a damn side more accurate these days than before. Carolina, New Orleans, Atlanta in the NFC West, Arizona in the NFC East, and a bunch of coastal teams in central divisions. It embarases the league and the set up really.

You said you miss how it used to be. Then I just simply stated the flaws of the old system, then you replied that you were unaware that there were uneven teams in the divisions. Get your head out your ass fuckhead.

Cowboys come out of a close one.Better winning this way than in a blow out though , so it's all good. Felix needs to get the ball 50% of the time and we'll blow every team out.

I miss the old 6 Divisions. I mean, the AFC east lost Indy, who wasnt that big of a rival anyways. But it was what I knew for so long.
I really want a new divisional set up.

Felix Jones is averaging 9.0 yards on 27 carries this season.
Just sayin' Wade Phillips, if you ever plan to not give him the ball at some point again this season...

Skins are best team
How bout them Redskins anyways? Holy hell did they beat up the Eagals.
23 unanswered points? And the last score was a freaking feildgoal after Westbrooke got kilt? Andy Reid better think about passing when he gets that close to the goal line because just running it up the middle is not going to work.

Eagles are a disgrace to the NFC East..2-3?!
Shadow

Hence why they're in last place there.
And honestly...who would've thunk that the Skins of all teams would be a powerhouse in a division loaded with 'em? And yes, I do keep the Eagles in that defintion. Let's face it, every team in the NFC East has the tools to be in the Super Bowel. The Giants have the freaking luck of the Irish, the Cowboys have a lot of recievers for Romo to throw to, the Eagles have McNabb, that arm of his, and Westbrook and the Redskins have that massively mutli-talented offense that can surprise the hell out of you even when you're not sleeping on them. The only issue I see the Skins having is that secondary. It sleeps waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much and gives opponents to many oppertunities to make big plays.
Otherwise...how bout them Redskins?
I had like 5 heart attacks when Gary Brackett picked that ball up and ran it in for the touchdown.

LOL, just saw the TExans/COlts highlights....LOL! Epic Fail on Sage. What the fuck was he thinking? DOes he think he is Elway's heir! WHat a fucking idiot.
How are the Texans 0-4?
They have got to come around at some point. They draft very well honestly in comparison to other teams, so what is taking them so fucking long?

This year is whacky indeed. Usually you have at least 5-6 undefeated teams this deep into the season, this year there are only 2.

Evan will Sed Ellis being out, we'll still shut down the run.. Been pretty good against the run the first 4 games, and have been getting pressure on the QB a good bit.. That might be cause of double teams on Sed, but I guess we'll see tonight..
I meant to mention to you and ABT, to be a horrible as they seem, the Bengals have looked really good against 2 of the best teams in the NFC the past two weeks.. Palmer just needs more pass protection and a little more running game and y'all would be condenders.. Y'all are the worse best team in the league.. Or best worst..

A Palmer/Beanie or Palmer/Moreno backfield will be pretty sick next year. Alas, that's next year. :(
