Warner said he was gonna retire until he heard Boldin was released from the hospital. He said he felt it was his fault for what happenned to him, and felt guilty enough to retire. Wow.

Felix Jones is averaging 9.0 yards on 27 carries this season.

Just sayin' Wade Phillips, if you ever plan to not give him the ball at some point again this season...

I personally thought the Cowboys were going to rip the Bengals by at least 21points or more but Romo just wasn't getting his rhythm until late in the game. I thought Cincy threw out a great curve ball with that onside kick. Too bad they couldn't capitalize and ended up fumbling the ball.

I think Dallas has to keep the running game in tact. MBIII and Felix Jones combined for almost 200 yards on the ground BUT don't forget about T.O. True, he is sometimes 2x covered but c'mon, go for the long bomb. T.O. still has the speed to make it happen. I know he can me a drama queen but I seriously think they aren't utilizing him as much as they can. And finally, STOP. THE. PENALTIES. While it has gotten better in the last couple of games, it just dumb mental mistakes that still cost them a good amount of yardage.

Honestly, while it was very ugly and stressful at times, a win is a win.

Nov 16th in Washington is going to be a showdown. The Redskins are proving they are the team to be reckoned with in the NFC East. If the Cowboys are wanting to go far in the playoffs, that road is going through the Redskins without question. True, NY Giants aren't too shabby either but honestly, it's going to be Dallas or Washington.

Last two games, he has been pretty inconsistent in accuracy.

He doesn't throw shitty passes. There just always seems to be a pass in every game where he just doesn't account for a defender being in the path of the ball for whatever reason. For the most part, his passes always look crazy good. He's got such a touch on them.

This may be true, but we have a history of sucking it hard at Arrowhead. Honestly expected them to lose.

Oh yeah, who's pretty much fucked for atleast the next 3 years? Oh that's right, KC (and Oakland) are.

Get back at me when you have a QB who starts atleast 3 games in a row this season.

And what about the several other under passes? overpasses? throwing it way ahead of the reciever?

Romo is the man but he needs to get back to how he was throwing in the first game of the season. Its been downhill from there.

lol... seriously... what?

Crazy fucking game..

Fuck Gramatica.. I have no idea why we drafted a badass kicker in Taylor Melhaff, who looked just as good as Gramatica, only for camp competition.. Def a wasted draft pick and it's biting them in the ass now for picking the vet over the rookie.. Two fucking games that greesy piece of shit lost for us..

Our defensive looked top notch.. Prtty much shut AP down.. The refs straight up raped us through the first half.. The Reggie Bush fumble was CLEARLY a 15 yard face mask before that cause the fumble.. The Kaesviharn forced fumble was just that.. The ball was clearly coming out before his knee hit, so why does it matter that AP still had his hand on it?? He didn't have control of it, that's for sure..

I want to murder Ed "I wear adult small t-shirts even though I weight 250 LBS" Hochuli.. Horribly officiated game..

Another heartbreaker..

p.s. Drew Brees is the best QB in the NFL, FYI..

"Right at the defender" and missing a defender coming in to the play and picking one off... big difference.

I'm defending the passes themselves, not his vision. If Ninti wants to clarify that that's what he meant then alright.

lol I don't know if you're talking about me but I don't hate on anyone in this thread. Unlike most people who post in here, I will put forth a logical argument about any subject I talk about. Romo is a good QB, but you simply can't deny the fact he makes some bonehead throws and critical errors in big games. The Cowboys are stacked and they have a great ability to bounce back, but they have been snake bitten in the playoffs. Until Romo can get to the playoffs and play without making one of these errors, that will be my knock on him.

:y:

I think you've done it a time or two before. But in this instance, I have to agree with you on this guy. He is a terrible offical. He's basically handing games to teams that shouldn't be winning. The fact that he blew a facemask and nobody called him on it (boo on the Saints coach) is attroucious. Officals should not be doing this to damn good teams. And you know something, the Saints are a damn good team. I may bleed burgandy and white, but even I can see when a team deserves more then what happened last night.

I always liked Hochuli, but this year he is sucking it up pretty bad..

METAIRIE - Saints rookie cornerback Tracy Porter had surgery to repair a dislocated wrist, New Orleans head coach Sean Payton said Tuesday.

Porter injured his wrist in coverage when the Vikings completed a touchdown pass to Bernard Berrian on third-and-16 at the New Orleans 33. Porter got up slowly and had to be helped off the field after the play.

"We'll be able to have announcement about it soon in regard to the time frame," Payton said. "Right now I don't want speculate, but I do know the procedure went well."

Payton wouldn't say if the injury is the type that a player can come back from during the season, but didn't sound too positive when pushed about the subject.

"We'll see," Payton said. "His required surgery to get it back in place which was not good."

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Porter was becoming a def shutdown corner.. Now TOAST gets some play time..

Fuck this stupid fucking injury bug we seem to have this year..

Happens every year man. Some teams just get hit. I fucking hate it though because an otherwise good team starts to fall.

Back to the subject of referees; I don't remember what the head official was of the Seahawks/Giants game yesterday but they were calling the game very tight in the secondary in the first half especially. Everything was getting called, pass interference, holding in the secondary, illegal contact. Some of the calls were very petty and didn't affect the play too much. That went for both teams, some got called on the Hawks, some on the Giants. They lightened up in the second half but for the first half I was just, "What the fuck?"

Shadow
10-07-2008, 04:14 PM
It seems to me anyways that in recent years officals are getting really super tight with the calls. And the fact that they've brought out some rules that I've never heard of before that just baffle me. I mean, I know that these rules have always been there but...I just never heard of 'em. Course, just cause I've never heard of them doesn't mean they shouldn't be enforced.

Gonzo
10-07-2008, 04:16 PM
Everything goes in cycles. For years they will strictly enforce calls in the secondary, then for years they will favor defenders instead. I think it all really just depends on who is on the competition committee and what they push for.

Man, I fucking hate injury bugs. I remember a few years back the Giants snuck into the playoffs but they were so decimated by injuries at that point they had no chance. Carolina blew them up. I think that the Giants had 1 LB that they began the season with. One of the guys playing LB had been signed that week, and the other guy was like two weeks before that. Antonio Pierce was the only healthy LB.

It looks like Aberdeen native Taylor Mehlhaff is going to get another shot at kicking with the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints aren't happy with the performance of veteran Martin Gramatica, who missed a potential game winning field late in Monday night's loss to the Vikings. So they are interested in re-signing Mehlhaff, the rookie they cut at the end of training camp after picking him in the 6th round of the NFL Draft last spring.

Taylor, who's been at the University of Wisconsin working out, will fly out to New Orleans Wednesday. There were some flight delays in Madison Tuesday night.

He's expected to get an offer from the Saints and he could very well be New Orleans starting kicker, when the Saints host the Raiders on Sunday.

I wanted us to keep him over Gramatica anyway.. He has pretty much the same accuracy but alot more power for longer FGs and kickoffs.. I also thought it was a wasted draft pick, to get him just for camp compitition..

Kris P Lettus
10-08-2008, 01:10 PM
The Saints couldn't do anything about an obvious facemask penalty the refs missed in Monday night's game against the Vikings -- that's not a challenge-able infraction. So they did the next best thing -- feature a picture of the blown call on the front page of their Web site. From ProFootballTalk.com:

With no mention of the fact that a penalty flag wasn’t thrown, the Saints have pasted on their official web site a photo of Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway grabbing the mask of Saints running back Reggie Bush.

To follow up, Los Angeles Times reporter Sam Farmer called the Saints for an explanation. From the L.A. Times:

I called the Saints about it this morning, and they said it was the highest-resolution shot they had of Bush, who returned two punts for touchdowns in the 30-27 loss.

After having the picture on the front page of their Web site, under the Multimedia tab, for most of the day, the Saints have finally taken it down and replaced it with a different image of Reggie Bush.

I really wonder what the Giants are gonna do about their kicking situation. Carney has been perfect so far in FGs and XPs...but he's proven to be terrible at kickoffs. Meanwhile, Tynes seems ready to go and IIRC he at least could get some distance on his kickoffs.

Factor that in with the fact that David Tyree is eligible to come off the PUP list after next week...cutting one of the kickers would be the optimum way of getting him on the roster. They really don't even need him and so they could IR him for the rest of the year, but if the guy is healthy and ready to play the ethical thing to to do would be to cut him and let another team pick him up. But it would be depressing as hell to see the Super Bowl hero get cut. :(

The defender was hanging off of the facemask, and you could see Bush's head kind of jerk toward the defender. I don't care where you are on the field, you have to throw a flag on that play.

Hochuli really isn't a bad referee. Of course you can't argue with the call in the SD/Denver game but besides that the guy is one of the top crews. Can someone who watched the Saints game say with 100% certainty that Hochuli was in position himself to make the facemask call? It falls on one of the other officials in that case.

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones got into a fight with one of his security guards at a downtown Dallas hotel on Wednesday morning, according to Dallas police.

Dallas' CBS affiliate, Channel 11, first reported Wednesday that Jones was involved in an altercation at the Joule Hotel in Dallas, damaging a bathroom.

Dallas Deputy Chief Vince Golbeck told the Dallas Morning News police were called to the scene at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday. Chief Golbeck told the News he thought Jones was staying at the hotel and may have been drinking.

There was no police report filed regarding the incident. No one was arrested and no one will be charged in connection with the fight.

Adam Jones timeline

Since the Tennessee Titans drafted cornerback Adam Jones in 2005 he's been questioned, named or arrested in connection with at least eight off-field incidents:

• Strip club incident

Where: Atlanta

When: April 2005

What: Jones' name appeared on the police incident report after a fight broke out in a strip club. The female involved said she had no plans to pursue the case and it was dismissed.

• Hotel incident

Where: Nashville

When: June 2005

What: Security officials at Regal Maxwell House Hotel had trouble getting two of Jones' friends to clear their room after checkout time. Police arrived, smelled marijuana and found some on a tabletop. Jones was in the room, but one of his friends took full responsibility for the evidence.

• Nightclub arrest

Where: Nashville

When: July 2005

What:Jones was arrested on two counts of misdemeanor assault and a felony count of vandalism after a fight at a Nashville nightclub. Charges were dismissed less than a year later.

• Vehicle confiscation

Where: Nashville

When: April 2006

What: Metro Police said a vehicle registered to Jones was involved in a drug trafficking ring. "Pac Man" was embroidered on the leather seats of a 2004 Cadillac XLR which was confiscated from a friend of Jones. Jones later bought the car back at an auction.

• Shots fired

Where: Nashville

When: April 2006

What: Jones was at the scene where gunshots were fired following an altercation at a Nashville gas station at 1:50 a.m. Police questioned Jones but labeled him only as a witness. The incident occurred just three days after the vehicle confiscation.

• Nightclub arrest

Where: Murfreesboro, Tenn.

When: Aug. 2006

What: Jones was arrested and charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, for an incident at Sweetwater Saloon. With six months of good behavior the charges will be dropped, a judge ruled last month.

• Spitting incident

Where: Nashville

When: Oct. 2006

What: Jones was issued a citation for misdemeanor assault after being accused of spitting in the face of a Tennessee State student following a verbal exchange at a downtown nightclub. The charge was dismissed in general sessions court earlier this month.

• Triple shooting

Not really..

I mean, you average street thug doesn't have all that money and they are still a common street thug..

Thug is a thug regardless of how much money they have.. If Pacman is too f'n stupid to stop biting the hand that feeds him, he is gonna be alot hungrier once that hand isn't there..

Maybe, however the guy wont be going from strip club to strip club around the country without a huge bankroll. I agree though, he is a street thug that will always find a way to wreak havoc on society...I just think that he doesn't need to be on the same field as genuinely good guys, like your Drew Brees or my Eli Manning. The NFL has no room for people like him.

Unless you play your games in Irving, Tx.

There was a story yesterday on espn saying that the Giants may be getting tired of Plaxico's "antics".
He is not in the same league with Chad Johnson or Terrell Owens in terms of selfishness.
I wanted to punch the television.

Lemme find a link to the story.

Chris Mortensen

This guy has lost a lot of credibility in my opinion. The 24/7 reporting world we live in has caused this guy to jump all over everything and speculate where there aren't stories. Sure, the Giants may be a little sick of Plax, but if he keeps breaking the rules they will just keep fining him. The media is making a problem out of nothing here.

lol I don't know if you're talking about me but I don't hate on anyone in this thread. Until Romo can get to the playoffs and play without making one of these errors, that will be my knock on him.

lol. Completely wasn't referring to you...

Great to see Randy Moss back to tanking plays again. Not even 5 plays in and Cassell throws deep and underthrows it a bit and Moss doesnt even bother jumping for it despite Jammer jumping off balance and the ball falling right to his hands. That was amazing. I'd be pissed if a was a Pats fan right now. If Moss tried on that catch, he woulda snagged it out of the air easily and possibly stepped over Jammer for a touchdown.

Romo suffers broken pinkie in Cowboys' overtime loss

ESPN.com news services

IRVING, Texas -- Dallas Cowboys (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=dal) quarterback Tony Romo (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5209) has a broken finger on his throwing hand and could be out for up to four weeks. Romo, who had started 30 straight regular-season games since replacing Drew Bledsoe (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=393) in 2006, broke his right pinkie on the first play of overtime in a 30-24 loss at Arizona on Sunday, according to a posting on the team's official Web site. The injury will not require surgery, a member of the Cowboys' medical staff told ESPN.com's Matt Mosley. The injury leaves the Cowboys (4-2) with 40-year-old Brad Johnson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=331) as the starter. Johnson, who won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay, hasn't started a game since 2006 in Minnesota. Romo missed on three straight passes to start the overtime, having passed for 321 yards and three touchdowns despite heavy pressure. He was sacked three times and knocked down 19 times. Romo, whose hand was heavily wrapped after the game, fumbled three times Sunday, losing one, but didn't throw an interception for the first time in the last nine games. Through Sunday's games, Romo ranks second in NFC passing with a 103.5 rating. He has thrown for 14 touchdowns and been intercepted five times. He had his team-record 14th career 300-yard passing game Sunday in his 32nd start. That broke a tie with Troy Aikman (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=53), whose 13 were accomplished in 165 starts. In 2007, his first full season as a starter, Romo led the Cowboys to a 13-3 record, best in the NFC. He set team records with 335 completions for 4,211 yards and 36 touchdowns, including the team-record 15 receiving by Terrell Owens (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=1056), in a season that ended with a loss to the Giants in the first round of the playoffs. Johnson quarterbacked the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=tam) to the NFL championship in 2002. He has been Romo's backup since last season and threw only 11 passes in 2007. Johnson, in his second year as Cowboys backup, has only seen brief mop-up duty in Dallas, going 7-for-11 for 79 yards. Before coming to Dallas, Johnson started 122 of his 145 career games with Minnesota (1993-98, 2005-06), Washington (1999-2000) and Tampa Bay (2001-04). Johnson has completed 2,627 of 4,248 career passes (61.8 percent) for 28,627 yards with 164 touchdowns and 117 interceptions. He passed for 2,750 yards in 2006 with nine TDs and 15 interceptions -- only the third time in his career with more interceptions than TDs. Another former Viking, Brooks Bollinger (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4658), will be Johnson's backup. Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

Yeah I'll take some pictures. Lol it's quite funny cause it's planned and you need a ticket to get into it and stuff. I'm sure you guys have never heard of a tailgate party where you've needed a ticket! Here's the details, should be some fun:

The 20,000 person party will be the biggest organized tailgate event ever to take place in the UK, and will include New Orleans-based jazz bands, NFL Experience games and a Mardi Gras parade.

Live on stage will be a variety of famed New Orleans jazz to get the party in full swing.

Also appearing at the Tailgate Party will be Saints’ cheerleaders, who will perform on stage for fans prior to taking the field.

Tailgate PartyIn addition to the New Orleans-themed entertainment, there will be exciting food and drink options available to attendees. Authentic New Orleans recipes like jambalaya and étouffe will be on offer in addition to traditional football fare like hotdogs and hamburgers.

Coors Light – the Official beer sponsor of the NFL -- will be providing a beer garden for NFL fans to meet-up and enjoy some ice cold, Rocky Mountain refreshment before kick-off of the big game between the Saints and Chargers.

Also available for fans attending the event will be a large Reebok NFL merchandise marquee, which will include an array of NFL gear including replica jerseys, caps, t-shirts, helmets, footballs and special commemorative International Series souvenirs.

Tailgate PartyIf you want to spend time at the Tailgate Party sharpening your football skills there will be 11 NFL Experience games on site available to test your ability. Practice your throwing, blocking, catching, kicking, tackling and running with a variety of different fun games that will appeal to children and adults.

If playing football on screen is more your thing, then EA Sports will be there giving everyone an opportunity to play their latest and greatest NFL title: Madden NFL 09. There will also be a limited number of walk-up spots available to compete in the UK’s Madden Challenge Finals, where you will have an opportunity to win great prizes -- including a Grand Prize trip to Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort and Spa in January 2009, to compete for a share of prizes totalling US$100,000 in the global Madden Challenge Finals!
The party gets underway at 11:00am, with three custom-designed Mardi Gras floats at 12:00pm which will arrive at the Tailgate site from the streets surrounding Wembley behind a rousing New Orleans marching band. Vibrantly coloured revelers on the floats will throw traditional New Orleans beads into the crowds to set the atmosphere alight and prepare fans for the big game in the stadium. Following behind the floats will be musicians including members of the Apache Mardi Gras Indian Tribe.

At 4:00pm the Tailgate Party will come to a close with the procession of the Mardi Gras floats from the Tailgate site into the stadium, where they will contribute to the pre-game entertainment.

The entertainment will spill over into the streets surrounding Wembley, with musical entertainment on Olympic Way and at Wembley Stadium Station, as well as the passing of the Mardi Gras parade floats through the surrounding streets before their arrival at the Tailgate party.

Well, the group I'd tailgate with charges like $10 per game or $15 per couple per game but they provide beer, food, etc..

Anyone hear anything on the Tony gonzalez trade front?

Just got this from the Bills site

With NFC East rivals Philadelphia and the NY Giants in the running for Tony Gonzalez’s services via trade it could drive up the price for the perennial Pro Bowl tight end. WarpaintIllustrated.com, a team outfit under the Scout.com umbrella is reporting that the Bills have offered a third-round pick for Gonzalez.

Meanwhile they’re reporting that the Giants are willing to offer more than their original offer of a 6th round selection.

------------------------

If not one outbids the bills, I doubt he is traded. Gonzo wants NY, I dont think he will go to buffalo. They should make the playoffs, but I dont think they are big enough contenders for TG to leave, although you never know.

Mort just reported that Felix Jones has a partially torn hammy and will be out 2-4 weeks..

LMFAO

Also their punter is gonna be put on IR after that last hit he took..

BEST.DAY.EVER.

I realize they have a good team, but for a team that hasn't won a playoff game in like 13 years, they get alot of coverage.. Not minding it that much today though..

Exactly

Anyone who thinks the Saints won't win the NFC South is a fucking idiot..

You'll get called a retard if they don't. Don't hide it with "Well, I make comments like that cause I'm a fan." You will be called a retard. Sit there at your computer, accept it, or don't make ridiculous statements like that.

Not to mention your strategy of...

I like your theories.

"I'll argue 'What's the point of making it to the playoffs if you don't win' but I'll ignore 'What's the point of winning a playoff game if you don't even win a conference championship'"

And my favorite "I'll argue 'living in the past' but then, more recently my team missed the playoffs while his didn't, so I don't wanna live in the present either... I just wanna live in that one small piece of time where my team was seemingly better and act like, for some reason, THAT is the time period that matters above all else."

I only quote myself from an earlier post in this topic because it, in fact, ended the argument because you got called out on being retarded and were forced to shut the fuck up. Just a case in point...

Ninti, as a life long Saints fan growing up in the 80's and 90's when we were mediocre at best, it sucked growing up around Cowboys fans, do to them being awesome back then.. I like Emmit Smith and Nate Newton, but always hated Aikman and Irving with a passion..

Now it carries over that the Cowboys and the Saints are two of the best teams in the NFC.. I def hate the Niners, Falcons, Bucs, and Rams more if it makes you feel better..

Fuckin ey here's the injuries now for the Cowboys, fuck. Good thing we got the Rams to practice with real quick before getting the Buccs I believe. Romo wasn't playing good at all so I dunno, hopefully he plays better when he gets back. Felix and McBriar are huge impact injuries too. Choice has looked ok but has nowhere the speed as Felix. We might be at 5-4 at the bye :(

#1-norm-fan
10-13-2008, 10:33 PM
Romo wasn't playing that bad. I don't know why people keep saying that. His QB rating this season so far is 103.5.

He's lost a couple fumbles the last 2 weeks but I wouldn't say he's been not playing well.

Ninti the Mad
10-13-2008, 10:38 PM
Dude. If it wasnt for the running game, we would've lost last week also.

He's been so inaccurate.

#1-norm-fan
10-13-2008, 10:44 PM
There's really nothing to back that up though. We just ran the ball a lot in that game. If push came to shove and the running game wasn't working, it's not like Romo looked like he would have blown it. He was 14 of 23 for 176 and 3 TDs to 1 Int. I think people are feeling a little spoiled. Like he has to throw 5 TDs or something. He's been fine.

Hanso Amore
10-13-2008, 10:45 PM

There was a big difference in Romo for the first 3 weeks and he has been steadily going down after the loss to the Skins.
