Yeah, the one button reversal system is stupid. Big step back. People are just gonna mash that button and get results. They have to know it's coming.

Wait, the pinfall system from LoW wrestling is gonna be in thsi year? I actually like that. You have a chance of ACTUALLY kicking out of two finishers instead of mashing buttons. I hate mashing buttons. It takes really no skill, you just have to get lucky....
Create a story? It all depends on how its done. It's hit or miss. I bet theyre just gonna have 10 different stories and you just pick which one it is. Like they had in GM mode one year, you can pick who you wanted for writers, ti'll prolly be just like that.
If you can edit the story, then hell yeah. Only if I can start off with Rey Mysterio and then Undertaker comes in and throws a birthday cake at him. Then a CAW version of Pee Wee comes in and steals Taker's bike whcih leads up to a triple threat match at Summerslam. If I can do that THAT.....I'm getting it. But I'm gonna get it anyway cause I skipped last years game.
And this game comes out the same day as Modern Warfare 2. I'm gonna have a field day that day....
Oh, and the reversal system. Wasnit it always just one button? R2 for grapple L2 for strikes?

I've got mixed feelings about one-button kickouts. On the one hand, I feel as though it could add another dimension to the pinning/kicking out points in the matches, but the other part of me wonders how long I'm going to need to keep "X" or whatever held down just to fill some green circle icon on-screen or whatever, and if, as I get more fatigued and more damaged throughout the match, if I will have to hold "X" or whatever button progressively longer accordingly with levels of fatigue and damage as factors...if so, it would be realistic, but it just has an air of inevitable suckiness if this is the case.

I'm guessing it's like that. But we'll see... I don't mind that change however. There were similar systems in SvR's past.

The only pin/kickout scenarios I ever remembered from any game in the series is \/ + O on PS2 if you were the pinner, and if you were the pinnee, you just mashed random buttons in hopes that it would be enough to stop the count before 3, but if you can point out evidence to the contrary, I will concede this point.

Im not interested in really creating my own story, I probably couldnt figure shit out anyways and I would rather be surprised than know whats gonna happen in the story.
What would be awesome is if you can create a story and upload it for others to download. That would really make this game timeless on the storymode just because people could play storymode non stop. I doubt that will happen but that would be pretty cool.
Shitty thing would be if you were able to do that but the creater picked the wrestler you had to be. I think I would get tired of playing 100 seasons as John Cena.

Actually yeah, you can upload stories.

Be nice if wwe actually gave them renders of what the newer ppv sets were going to look like then the game wouldnt have an outdated look in some arenas.
And the "art" above is most likely the game models with rendering effects applied that the engine can't do in real time. Personally ida been happier if they took a year or two off and revamped\replaced the engine and started from the ground up.

Construct each night’s show card with matches, unique match stipulations, interference events and other story twists and turns.
SHARE THE CREATIVITY

Use the keyword search engine to view created content from around the world and download for use both offline and online. Exclusively on PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360®.
ROAD TO WRESTLEMANIA
The popular story-based mode returns with new storylines, including a first-ever Divas storyline and a Create-a-Superstar storyline.
SUPERSTAR THREADS
For the first time in franchise history, you can create alternate ring gear for Superstars by customizing the colors of shirts, logos, face paint, elbow pads, boots and much more. Save the alternate looks for use throughout the game and online. Exclusively on PLAYSTATION 3 and Xbox 360®.

BACKSTAGE BRAWLS
Take the action with your opponent outside the ring in 14 unique areas, including parking lots, locker rooms and more. Unlock the areas by successfully completing various achievements in Story Mode.
AMBULANCE MATCH
A new addition to the franchise, Superstars will attempt to lock their opponents in an ambulance to win the match
So we have the paint tool back, which they had in DoR.
On a downside, it looks like 'Superstar Threads' only allows you to edit colour of current attire. Kind of a let down if it is, but a start.
14 backstage areas is alot better than the previous 2, so will be interesting.
An Ambulance match? I dunno, the inferno match was kinda 'meh' last year, and I only played it a handfull of times. I'd prefer if they concentrated on full Surivior Series matches or something

And apparently, the superstar editor allows you to make up to 3 alternate attires for each superstar.
As for the 'points system' that can be seen on the CAW screen, it apparently replaces the 'layer system' used on earlier games. Each item has its own value, depending on size etc. You start with 48 points.

Are they even making a PS2 version this year? With the new Slim PS3 coming out at $300, I really want to get one this year (I don't believe in playing for online). I just don't want to drop 40 for a new PS2 edition and then trade it in for 10 bucks and buy a $60 PS3 version...hopefully I can resist the urge (I've done so with NCAA Football 10 so far).

If there's one thing that the WWE SmackDown vs. Raw franchise has never truly tapped into, it's you -- the rabid WWE fan who e-mails me year-round about move sets and when I'm going to post news on the latest game. Fans have created independent websites to share created superstar saves and recipes, they keep constant watch over the Internet for the latest inkling of news, and they even form petitions on message boards demanding that THQ puts certain things in the game.
Yes, SmackDown is back and packing more than 60 Superstars, 50 Create-a-Superstar slots, and a brand new attitude. At the forefront of this push is 2010's tagline "It's your world now." Last year saw the introduction of Create-a-Finisher, but this year THQ and Yukes are looking to create an online community. In the latest SVR game, you're going to be able to create fully 3D characters, entrance videos, finishers, logos, color schemes for existing WWE stars, and even your own stories to play through. As if that wasn't impressive enough, the hook is that you'll be able to upload all of these creations to the SVR servers so that the world can search for them, rate them, download them, and share ideas.
CAS websites might no longer need to exist.
All of this news and a handful of SVR 2010 matches slammed into the collective consciousness of the universe today at a SummerSlam Eve SVR press conference in Los Angeles. Hosted by SVR Senior Creative Manager Cory Ledesma, a roomful of videogame-amanics were walked through what SVR 2010 is and what we can all expect when it's released on October 20 in North America and October 23 in the United Kingdom.
For starters, the main menu lives in the THQ Training Facility -- an area that looks like the dojo from Tough Enough. There's a ring packing red, white, and blue ropes; posters promoting pay-per-views from days gone by; and whole bunch of empty chairs. Here, you'll get to tackle the first-ever SVR tutorial. Rather than just have you watch a video or play a game of Simon Says, the facility is packed with more than 100 moves and events for you to master.

As you move around the ring, different tasks pop up in the corner of the screen in an attempt to teach you the things you can do in a given area. If you're standing in the middle of the ring, the task might be as simple as taunting, but if you're coming up on your opponent -- who can stand there like a punching bag or be changed to one of the game's difficulties -- the game might try to teach you how to pull off a grapple move. As you perform these tasks, the move gets checked off on the screen and disappears so that it won't pop up while you're learning again.
You can turn the tips off or reset them so everything pops up again, but the idea is to give newcomers an idea of how to play and to give seasoned vets a refresher course while sprinkling in some of the game's newest offerings.
At first glance, SVR 2010 looks a lot like its predecessors. As a long-time fan of the franchise, I'm used to an annual series that drops in a few new modes and calls it a day, but when I got my hands-on the controller, I got to see some of the new tidbits THQ's peppered in to compliment the new community creation stuff. When I took on Triple H as Chris Jericho in a falls count anywhere match, the ref followed the fight around the barricade and up the entrance ramp -- he didn't stay in the middle of the ring like a goon. When we were brawling around the squared circle, the camera angles were actually cool and not way too close and/or obscured by barricades like last year. When I slapped the hell out of John Morrison's chest as Edge, the Shaman of Sexy's chest actually got red from flesh on flesh contact.
http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/101/1017296/wwe-smackdown-vs-raw-2010-20090822095112585.jpg
The redder, the better.
There are number of little presentation touches like those that jumped out at me. Another example is that the big on-screen HUDs are gone. Now, the matches have a TV style feel to them from the location of the bout popping up during entrances to the "WWE Live" logo that appears in the lower left corner of the screen as the match begins to the WWE copyright that pops up at the end of the fight -- mind you, this is all happening during exhibition matches.
Anyway, momentum is now displayed by a small halo around the feet of your Superstar. There's a blue outline that slowly builds as you pull off suplexes and drop kicks. When you've earned enough for your Signature Move, an "S" in a yellow circle appears on the meter, and when you've got your finisher, an "F" in a red circle appears down there. There's still limb damage and such to worry about, but you'll need to watch how the Superstars are acting and not some colored silhouette.
In terms of controls, 2010 played pretty much exactly the same as 2009, but there were more additions and polished moments. Now, there's one shoulder button for reversing. It'll pop up above your character's head to give you that window of opportunity to block a punch and fight back. Thing is, you get just one shot at it, so spamming the reversal button isn't going to help anyone but your opponent. I came across another interesting addition in a first blood match as Edge against John Morrison. When I pushed Morrison to the mat, a right stick icon with a blood outline popped up on my momentum meter. When I hit it, Edge knelt down and began jacking John in the head to try and draw blood. Similarly, when I was getting kicked to death as Triple H, a shoulder button combo appeared on my meter that commanded Hunter to roll out of the ring.
I know I'm a nerd, but it's the little stuff that I listed earlier -- TV presentation, cleaner screen layout, red chests, etc. -- that get me excited for WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010. The models and moves look better than ever but they still do look like last year's; these little camera cuts and ring rope physics make the experience feel fresher and more realistic. Personally, I want to play a match with a buddy and have it feel like I'm watching an episode of Raw, and overlays telling me that this match is brought to me by WWE Shop and the copyright logo at the end of the match nail that vibe.
As cool as all that stuff was for me, THQ's main thrust today was getting the world to understand how all this creation stuff is going to work. Create-A-Superstar is back, but this time all the parts are in 3D, which means ties will no longer be painted to your character's chest and so on. There are more than 1,000 parts in this year's mode and it's packing a new interface, super-quick load times, and more.
When THQ was paging through the hairstyles, all of the options popped up in a second and as the player scrolled through the hairpieces on the character's head, the longer styles swayed back and forth with a surprisingly fluid animation. Rather than restrict you to a certain number of layers as in years past, SVR 2010 gives each item a point value and only allows you to use so many points (48 is what I saw when fooling with the mode) for your guy or gal. The goal of this overhaul is to make the CAS look as good as the real WWE talent. During the demo, I didn't see any that accomplished this goal -- hats still look goofy -- but these created character definitely look better than the offerings of pervious titles.
Plus, you can even choose your character's pose for the versus screen -- there are 18 options ranging from intimidating to hilarious -- and it's about time we got that choice.
Speaking of things we're finally getting, WWE SVR 2010 packs the Paint Tool. Here, you can create original art that you can then slap on a piece of clothing or straight to someone's body as a tattoo. In action, the tool looks a lot like the paint tool in Fire Pro Wrestling and packs a bunch of tools -- pen, eraser, paint can, etc. -- as well as a color spectrum on the left side of the screen with the canvas on the right. This is a freehand option, so you're free to create comic book logos, sports icon, and whatever else you can think up. These icons will appear online and, again, you can upload them for other people to download and use.
Although it is simpler, Superstar Threads is kind of like the Paint Tool for Superstars. Here -- for the first time ever -- you can choose an existing Superstar and create three alternate outfits for him. Now, this isn't a create mode so you can't put the Undertaker in a tiny pair of briefs; you're just changing the colors of the existing clothing the character is wearing. Each Superstar has an individual menu based on his outfit, and you can go in and tweak it however you like. This should be huge for fans looking to keep their roster looking like the one they see on TV each week.
When it comes to Create-a-Finisher, 30 percent more moves have been added to the front grapple and there's a new position for diving attacks. Beyond that, you're still stringing 10 parts together for your move, you can apply it to a CAS or existing Superstar, and you can choose from a list of announcer-ready names or deem the action whatever you like via the virtual keyboard. During the presentation, THQ built a top rope finisher and strung together God knows how many flips. Aside from making moves like this that are completely impossible, you can also change the trajectory of your leaping finisher so that you're getting close to touching the rafters or coming in low and lazy -- a dotted arc appears on the screen so you can track the move.
Aside from the fact that all of the stuff I'm talking about is able to be uploaded and downloaded, marked with custom keywords to make searching a breeze, and commented on, the craziest thing THQ is trying out this year is WWE Story Designer. There was no hands-on with this option -- I just saw a video and listened to Ledesma talk about it -- but the idea is that you get to work from the Gorilla Position and create your own storylines. When you start a storyline, you'll choose your show -- you can have this feud last for one show or two years -- and then pick if you want to work on a match or a cutscene.
If you go the match route, you'll pick your competitor, difficulty, win condition, who is running-in, who that guy's running in for, who the other fighter's help will be and so on. You can use some of these options, all of them, or none of them -- it's your choice. On top of that, you can go in and set limb damage for the Superstars to reflect whatever beatdown is going on in your story.
Obviously, big parts of WWE storylines are the cutscenes that set up the matches. In SVR 2010, you're going to have more than 100 scenes to choose from. Now, these scenes are things like contact signings in the middle of the ring, limos pulling up backstage, people getting hit by cars, and a car exploding . You'll cast up to five people in these scenes, pick where it's going down (in the ring, backstage, etc.), and move the camera all over the place and play with zooms and such. What was nifty was watching THQ go in and change the emotions of these characters -- making JR smile after getting yelled at in the middle of the ring and then going and changing it to frown in a split-second. You can choose what's playing on the Titantron, you can have the camera locked on a specific target, and you can add text so that your actors are saying the right stuff to push your story forward.
Again, create an awesome story, and feel free to upload it so others can download it and enjoy.
Now, an hour or so removed from my deep dive into the world of WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010, one thing that's standing out to me was just how fast everything was loading. I already talked about the creation bits coming up really quick, but matches were loading quickly, the CAF moved super-fast, and the video I saw made previewing an uploaded move before downloading it look like a breeze.
Although I didn't get to see it, Road to WrestleMania is back with six new stories -- one of which is a Diva tale and one of which is for your created Superstar -- and supposedly will feature more decisions for you to make and more branching plots for you to explore as well as replay for different endings.

Y2J needs you to pick his color scheme.
There's always more to talk about when it comes to a THQ wrestling game, and WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2009 is no exception, but I've got to stop rambling about this game sometime. From what I saw, I'm looking forward to SVR 2010. The story editor seems really cool for dorks like me who used to plan PPVs on sheets of notebook paper, the TV presentation is a nice bit of eye-candy, and the new HUD is appreciated. Sure, championship belts still hover over shoulders and I saw some clipping issues in a cutscene, but there are definitely reasons to be on the lookout for more on WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010.
When IGN has whatever the next piece of news is, I'll have it for you here.

Okay, I am actually really happy that they're switching to one button, one chance reversals. Way better than mashing.
I'm also pretty psyched about being able to recolor outfits... It'd be nice to be able to change them, but at least recoloring adds more customization.

some quick notes it put up in the description in the vid
- You can go on the apron.
- The referee follows you outside the ring and removes foreign objects from the ring.
- Many new moves have been added and reanimated. Among these include apron grapples from both inside and outside as well as the irish whip reversal and more.
- Reversal/counter is now just R2 (RT for 360) and the window to reverse/counter is narrow and requires more precision.
- Most, if not all, items in Create A Wrestler is now 3D and moves freely on its own

Nope, L2/LT or R2/RT depending on whether you wanted to reverse a strike or a grapple.

An in-depth note on what that guys first match was like
First match we played was Morrison (me) vs. Kofi. It was a long 20 minute grueling Falls Count Anywhere match. In this match I noticed:
- Most striking attacks (whether running or standing) cause a unique reaction upon hit. The dropsault I performed with Morrison looked beautiful and Kofi's capoeira wheel kick was very deceptive, causing me to react sooner with the reversal than I should've. Needless to say, I took one too many kicks to the head.
- This session helped me get a better feel for the reversal system which has been tweaked to be more challenging and engaging. There was not one second in this match that I did not feel involved, having to pay particular attention to the animation of attacks and grapples to time it just right. Press it too soon and you forfeit that moment to reverse. Press it too late and, well, you've already been floored with a kick across the head. I love it.
After getting hit with a second Trouble in Paradise, Morrison's stunning good looks were painted red with his own blood. He had a nasty cut above his left eye. Each time Kofi would get in contact with the wound, a little of Morrison's blood would also smear on Kofi. By the 20th minute, Kofi had blood splatter across his chest, a little on his arms, and a lot on his feet.
By the 20th minute, I had suffered three Trouble In Paradise and two Twin Leg Drops from Kofi spread throughout the match. Clearly, Morrison was winded, fatigued, and suffering severe blood loss. BUT... this is where the new pin system kicked in to tie your skill (either in button mashing or precise timing) to continue the fight. With the new pin system, I was able to kick out with tenths of a second to spare even after suffering so much abuse.
The people in line who were watching us play actually started to get into the game, cheering Morrison on especially when he was hit with the Trouble in Paradise only to kick out with a tenth of a second to spare. The WrestleMania 25 Arena helped tell the story of the match... like it was the main event and the title was on the line.
BUT... this is wear the new system stumbles. Even with all the abuse, I kept kicking out of finishers and signatures. Kofi even put Morrison through the spanish announcer's table with the leap of faith and still kick out... albeit just barely. If you can mash fast enough, you can't be kept down. HOWEVER... an ultimate submission or KO (if enabled) is another story.
After reversing an attempt to set me up for a fourth Trouble in Paradise, Morrison got his second wind. I went on the offensive utilizing his ability to springboard and his high charisma (taunting) to raise my momentum just high enough to perform a signature. Flooring Kofi allowed me to do the standing shooting star press, boosting my momentum, giving me a finisher.
Next stop: Moonlight Drive. After raising a groggy Kofi to his feet, I finished him with the Moonlight Drive to secure a 3 count (since SJ-Fox can't mash as fast as me ).
In the end, the new pin system leaned heavily in my favor. No matter what he did, he couldn't keep me down for a pin. BUT... he didn't try to make me submit with an Ultimate Submission, which could have been the difference maker all along.

If he's in this year, they'd have no excuse not to give him his singles theme ("Oh, Radio"), and make sure it was the FULL theme with each verse, as he's been a singles competitor since long before Night of Champions - since April 15th to be exact. So to not put him in and give him everything up-to-date would just be sloppy at this point, something they can't afford, if they want to breathe any kind of new life into this aging franchise.

<font color=goldenrod>The roster is usually really important to me...a few games in the series (namely SVR and SVR08) lost a lot of appeal with me because the rosters looked terrible and I like to have a lot of people to choose from to mix it up. And when it takes forever to make CAWs, it becomes really unappealing. However, with CAWs being downloadable I don't need to spend hours making people. With that many spots I'm pretty certain I'll be able to fit the entire missing active roster plus loads of room for originals.</font>

We stepped into the ring and answered the tough questions the fans wanted to know.
Over the weekend I held a live question and answer session on the forums here at Gamingring.com It was a fun hour of answering as many questions as I had time for while working on my hands-on impressions that are now live on the site. If you haven’t checked out the Q+A, now is your chance to do so…
Q: Can you have custom music online in your entrance?
A: Besides the fact they stressed about the community creations nothing about online was touched upon. So for now, we are all in the dark on that one.
Q: As I said in another thread, can you shed any light on the CAW mode, how many layers do we get on ps3? is it the same as the 360 this year?
A: The day of the “layer” is gone. Now everything is done in “points” from my understanding from what I got to mess with. Each item being used on your character is worth an amount of points. Once you reach your point limit…For example I saw 48 on the PS3 I didn’t get to mess with 360s CAW unfortunately you have reached your limit for your guy.
Q: Did you see any Divas other than Mickie and Maryse in the game? Does Maryse have her entrance jacket?
A: The roster on the game last night was just everyone that has already been announced. And no, Maryse does not have her entrance jacket.
Q: Are there more ground grapples like upper face up and upper face down positions and are quick grapples still there ?
A: Grounds grapples seemed the same as last year, I didn’t notice any difference. And yes…the quick grapples are still in.
Q: Will you be able to deny abilities that you accidently get or are you gonna be stuck with them and forced to start over again like in 09?
A: Other than the fact that we know there are 21 abilities this year and that you most likely again obtain them through career mode, that’s all we know. I would like to think THQ will give you the option this year to turn them down.
Q: If you could find out if the following are in i will be chuffed.
GM Mode
My WWE
Unified Tag Titles
Backstage Areas (XBOX360 & PS3)
Ambulance Match (XBOX360 & PS3)
A: Storyline Creater is essentially GM Mode taken to the next level. My WWE is in there but everyone was blanked out. No idea what it will feature this year. And Cory stated during his presentation that the Ambulance match is exclusive to the DS. Backstage areas were not touched upon.
PS: Yea your creation of RAW is pretty much the kind of stuff you’re gonna be able to do with this mode. Its depth is amazing!
Q: Are there more Tag Team Finishers in this year? Is the “Sweet Chin Music into Pedigree” in?
A: Didn’t play a tag match sorry. I played single, first blood, pinfalls count anywhere, and steel cage match.
Q: Zack Ryder/Matt Hardy Questions
A: The roster that we know is the same one you do. THQ promises over 60 superstars this year out of the box. I would like to believe both will be in and that Matt will have his new attire, but we’re just gonna have to wait and see.
Q: Are there any interactive areas out of the ring? Other then from 2009?
A: Myself and Brad brawled up to the entrance way on Smackdown and we didn’t see anything that was interactive. It seemed the same as last year but you never know what could be featured or added before release.
Q: Are there alternate outfits for CAWs this year?
A: During THQs online presentation of the Creators Community they showed off a CAW and the line said “View Attire #1″ or something to that effect. I don’t know if that means its just also showing off cut scene and entrance attire or if your CAWs can have multiple outfits this year, your guess is as good as mine.
Q: Are all items in CAW mode worth 1 point or do they vary? How many total points are you able to use?
A: I believe the point system varied but I didn’t get to spend nearly as much time in CAW as I would have liked so I’m not 100% sure. Sorry.
CJFox and I-Virus I am unable to answer any of your questions so I won’t waste your time. I’m sorry.
Q: Has Kofi kingston’s trouble in paradise been reanimated?
A: I didn’t use Kofi much last year but I believe it was re animated. Other reanimated finishing moves I also noticed were Undertakers chokeslam and Edge’s finishing spear.
Q: Has Maryse got Her French TKO?
A: Absolutely. That and her flipping DDT are her finishers
Q: Any New Moves you noticed?
A: Tons of new moves this year, way too many to try and list. Maryse had A LOT of new moves that I’ve never seen in an SVR game before.
Q: Can u make people tap with all submissions this year?
A: I didn’t see any standard non-mini game submissions cause people to tap out, but then again…I didn’t do many submissions. Sorry!
Q: How does one earn attributes and abilities for their Created Superstars? Apparently points can be earned through the exibition modes, if so, what purpose has career mode? Also, how long does it take to earn stats and abilities considering CAW makers will want to fill up their 50 CAW slots in a relatively short period of time.
A: As far as we were told attribute points can be earned by playing as your CAW in every single mode in the game. Career mode and what it includes this year is still a mystery as they didn’t touch upon it much at all. I would assume that may be your only place to earn abilities.
As far as attribute assignments go we were under the impression you will be able to add them to your CAW as you see fit. See Legends of Wrestlemana “Legend Killer” mode to see what I mean by that.
Q: in edit a wrestlers attire, is it just solid colors, or do they have patterns like camo, zebra, ect.?
A: It looked like just colors to me from the way they showed it off in the presentation.
Q: Does Morrison have the Flying Chuck springboard kick?
A: Yes he does, at least I think that’s what they call it. lol Brad mentioned him not having it in last years game.
Q: how about the thing that glows under the feet? can it be turned off?
A: Sure if you don’t want to know your momentum or when you can perform a finisher or a signature move, you can shut it off. lol
Q: the RTW will be interactive? could make choices?
A: They said this years is much more interactive with branching paths and multiple endings. So I would think there will be much more replay value this year as opposed to last years.
Q: What are the default 2nd and 3rd attires for in-game Superstars that you can edit? Like, someone like Kane or Cena who wears the same attire every week. Do they have a default 2nd and 3rd attire to edit or do you give them their 2nd and 3rd attires when you edit them?
A: Not sure i’m understanding your question but if I am THQ stated that each wrestler will have up to 3 saveable attire edits which technically gives each wrestler 4 differently colored outfits.
Q: Does the ps3 version still look good enough compared to 360 and plays as well as 360’s?????
A: In terms on gameplay it plays no differently. The 360 version just looks sharper and most crisp.
Q: What is Maryse’s Signature and Finishing Moves?
A: I already answered what her finishers were earlier. Her signatures are the roll into the camel clutch and the Jeff Jarrett stroke like move.
Q: does maryse whip her hair back in her entrance?
A: She does…but her hair doesn’t move too well. lol We recorded alot of entrance footage for the website once we get back home later this week we will try to get that stuff up and on the site.
Q: is kofi kingstons boom boom legdrop re-animated?
A: That said leg drop is his other finisher and since it does the slow mo animation in it its hard to tell if it has been re-animated or not. It sure looked nice though.
Q: any new weapons under the ring?
A: None that I saw.
Q: any new kind of moves u can do in the steel cage?
A: Seemed identical to last year but I didn’t play much of the cage matches last year. This might be new and it might not be but when you were crawling towards the cage door you got a chance to fill your meter than your opponent did. I asked Brad if that was new while I was doing it and he said he thought it was. I’m not a huge cage match fan in video games so I don’t play them often. So if that is already in 2009 I apologize.
Q: how many abilities can each wrestler have?
A: I saw up to six for some of the superstars on the roster, just like last year.
Q: Can divas participate in more matches this year?
A: Everything but first blood from the way Bryan Williams talked.
Q: Do we get any WCW content? Eg, belts, images, or any arenas?
A: Jericho had the classic WCW belt in this build of the game. Other than that, its all we know.
Q: LOW crossover?
A: If you mean importing the roster, the answer is no.
Q: Mike said on his twitter that the TLC Match was greatly improved. How and was there any other little things you noticed and liked?
A: The match wasn’t playable, its what Bryan Williams told us. No more pinfalls or submissions like a real TLC match you have to climb the ladder to get whatever is hanging above the ring.
Q: I would really appreciate if you could shed some light on the superstar threads mode for us. Just like is it just the colours that can be changed or the whole attire? Thanks.
A: Colors on attire only, thats it guys. You can’t change the pieces of anything like that.
Q: How much color detail can we change in threads? For instance, would it be possible to change the color of the thin lines on say HBK’s attire?
A: Each piece of attire that had multiple colors allowed you to change each of them. Like example each color on Mysterio’s mask.
Q: How is the A.I. and gameplay?
A: I played almost all of my matches against other people, undefeated last night by the way. The gameplay is much smoother than last years and moved seamlessly. The A.I. in the matches I played against the computer were fine for what it was, no clue what the difficulty was on.
And that wrapped up the session from this weekend. If you already read this over the weekend I hope you enjoyed it. And if you are just reading this for the first time, I hope I was able to answer some of your questions regarding this years game.
I may do another one this weekend if there is a demand for it. Let us know on our forums!

Good to know somebody finally got the memo on that issue...always really pissed me off that you didn't climb to retrieve the title or a contract or whatever other conceivable stuff you would grab from mid-air while on top of the ladder might be. Now if only they've put back the ability to use any finishers you want instead of just a Chokeslam, Last Ride, Powerbomb, and Superplex through double-stacked tables, I would love that.

So far there have been 4 new SD debut guys - Swagger, Kozlov, Ziggler, and R-Truth was all but confirmed by a few sources. All will probably be in the match...just need 2 more to be announced, and I'd say Mike Knox and Primo are safe bets at least, but you never know.</font>

<font color=goldenrod>Got word from someone deep inside THQ and here is the scoop on abilities this year
saw that people are wondering how abilites are earned and if they can freely assign them. *The answer is yes, abilities for Superstars and CAS' can be set freely within Create A Move-Set and Superstar Management. *Some of the lesser powerered abilities will be available at the outset for CAS characters but in order to earn the more powerful abilities (Resiliency, Kip-Up, etc) you'll have to earn them by increasing certain individual attribute ratings
Yessssss being able to assign attributes.</font>

Some of you arn't going to like this.
We get the skinny from THQA lot of people have given there thoughts on how this whole pre-order bonus will play out. We figured we would just go ask THQ Themselves, so here is what they had to say.
For Austin, the pre-order games will come with individual, one-time use codes to download him. They are non-transferrable. There is no other way to get Austin/unlock him in the game.
For The Rock, the pre-order games will come with codes, but they will be transferrable after a period of time.

<font color=goldenrod>My guess is that Austin and Rock will both be DLC after awhile...but basically they are forcing you to pre-order from one of those two spots (EB Games or Gamestop) to get Austin, who will only get one-time-only codes. With The Rock, after a little while the codes will be reused so you can get him without doing anything.
Because I'm a sucker, I'll probably go pre-order at Gamestop this week...there is really no need to pre-order a SD game but it will drive me crazy having a couple of permanently locked guys in there that I'd have to spend more for to get them as DLC. Plus I usually always buy my games at Gamestop as it is.</font>

<font color=goldenrod>I'd say today is the final day before we can write off IGN having a countdown this year. Labor Day in the US is the day they have either begun the countdown or at least revealed the roster for the last few years.

Supposedly the Austin code is a code for DLC, much like what Gamestop did with the UFC game. Basically, it's not on the disc, you download it.
The way it sounds, I don't know if the Rock is going to be exclusive DLC, on the disc and unlockable, or what. People have implied the Rock will be available later, but Austin won't be.

I think the 2 one depends. I mean there were times where I'd be wrestling a great match (Yeah, sometimes I have great matches against the CPU, its a challenge cause your trying to win, which they should make this game harder. Plese do) and I'm trying so hard to get the CPU to submit. I put him in ankle locks, half crabs, stomp his legs, then he gets me in a fucking headlock and I submit. Thats bullshit. Feel free to fire off the questions and suggestions you have right here so I can experiment with the build and get you some answers tomorrow. Until then, woooooooo.

Hallelujah, there's finally some more WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 news. I know that 2009 has been tough, WWE videogame fans. Usually, THQ's happy to tell us all about what's coming in its annual installment of SVR, but that pipeline of information was cut off this year. I mean, we just saw the title in action for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and it's set to come out in about a month.
Craziness!
However, like Paul Bearer soothing the Undertaker's wounds back in the day, I'm here to help you by delivering a whole heaping of hands-on impressions centered on one of SmackDown vs. Raw 2010's biggest selling points -- your power to create. Now, I've already filed an initial report on how the game plays in the ring, so this article will focus more on all the cool stuff you can do outside of the squared circle to make the WWE experience your own. You can create characters, finishing moves, entrance videos, logos, and more; plus, you're going to be able to upload and share this stuff with SVR players all over the world.
http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/102/1023111/wwe-smackdown-vs-raw-2010-20090909034825506.jpg
Get him, Superman!
Before we jump into this deep dive, it's important to note that this was just a preview build of the game with a whole bunch of stuff locked out. It's reasonable to believe things will be added and subtracted as the game nears completion, so any specifics mentioned herein could change.
Of course, Create A Superstar is back, and some would say it's better than ever seeing as how parts load in a flash. This time around you're going to be able to have 50 CAS, which includes the guys you've whipped up as well as the ones you've downloaded from the SVR community, and they're each able to have three alternate costumes to their default duds. A nice touch: you can name these alternate attires so you know exactly what you're grabbing off of the character select screen. You can edit your guy or gal's entrance attire, cinematic attire, and ring attire, choose a screen pose, and so much more. Plus, these folks and all their accessories are in 3D this time around, so "shirts" won't just be painted onto their skin anymore.
One of the biggest changes to Create A Superstar for 2010 is the elimination of the layer restriction -- in past games, you could only have so many layers of clothing, paint, and other junk on a guy -- and the addition of a point system. When you're creating your character, you'll have 48 points to work with. Adding certain clothing pieces and items costs you a certain amount of points. If you don't have enough points left for a kickass pair of boots or something, you have to go back and make room in your pool or accept your shoeless hero.
http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/102/1023111/wwe-smackdown-vs-raw-2010-20090909034819116.jpg
Bird is the word.
Now, a lot of fans have spoken out on the IGN SVR boards about this system -- namely that it's new and confusing to them. Sadly, there's no way for me to break down every item and tell you what it'll cost you -- not every shirt costs the same amount of points, get it? If you check out the videos I've posted with this preview, you'll see I made a decent Green Lantern (Yes, I know you're better than me at creating guys), and he didn't use any more of the points than the original naked dude. Green Lantern's eye mask, tank top, shirt, gloves, pants and boots accounted for zero points on the SVR CAS scale. Meanwhile, when I took that same naked due and popped on a pair of ski goggles (4 points) and a giant chicken head (16 points), my points remaining dropped to a level where I couldn't add the bib-jean outfit because it would've left me with negative 12 points.
Still, the massive chicken hat that engulfs your whole head seems to be the exception to the rule. A normal baseball cap, a Cobra-looking shroud, and a giant sombrero all cost you eight points apiece. Plus, general wrestling attire -- like the Owen Hart, Vader, and Andre unitards -- doesn't appear to cost anything; this is the same for logos on your shirt and a number of other options. Basically, it looks like if you're trying to create real life wrestlers, you're going to be fine. If you're trying to create insane characters you'd never see wrestling in real life, you might be screwed… even though Superman and his cape didn't come close to maxing out the system.
If you're looking for nitty gritty details, the build I have has 76 hairstyles in it including Mr. Perfect and Jake the Snake-looking hairdos, there's a Foley-like flannel, British Bulldog dreads and pants, and so on. When it comes to giving your character a name the announcers can call him, currently, the list is just 35 generic titles such as "The Princess" and "Dynamite." Hopefully, that list will be expanded in the final product. When it comes to assigning your Superstar or Diva an allegiance, you can place him or her with Raw, SmackDown, ECW, WCW, WWE Legends, or the Free Agent pool.
Although the CAS program has undoubtedly been improved, there are still some classic SVR issues in this build. Even though you can pick your pose for the pre-match screen, the characters still look pixilated and nowhere near as smooth as the WWE counterpart he or she is facing off against. On top of that, clipping issues and the inability to make things hang naturally seem to be back. Hair looks good and moves around as a character moves, but if you watch the videos I posted today of my created Superman, you'll find that his cape is incredibly stiff and split down the middle in some shots. Similarly, when the Green Lantern was wrestling Rey Mysterio, I noticed the phantom grabs of old where GL had Rey in an arm lock but was pulling on the wrestler's arm a good foot from where his actual arm was.
While I'm talking about Green Lantern and Superman, we might as well talk about my jump into the Paint Tool. If you're just joining us, the Paint Tool gives you the chance to sit down with a simple set of commands (there's a pen, circle creator, line tool, eraser, rotate option, paint can, trash and color palette) and put whatever you can think up on the digital canvas. You select the mode, choose one of the 20 slots you have at your fingertips, select if you want the canvas to be 128 x 128 pixels or 265 x 256 pixels, and you're off. Important note for planners: you can't have hi-res and low-res logos on the same character and you can only have two hi-res logos and 10 lo-res images on one dude or dudette.
http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/102/1023111/wwe-smackdown-vs-raw-2010-20090909034827397.jpg
Creating impossible finishers is the name of the game.
If you've used Microsoft Paint or any other basic creation tool, these commands should be simple enough for you. You're on a grid to help you line stuff up, the pen follows wherever you push the joystick, the circle's center will be where your crosshairs are, and so on. There's a bit of a learning curve to the tools because you're switching parts of the screen with L2, using the joystick to pick tools, and tapping the D-Pad to make for fatter lines and such, but after a few tries, things should get to be second nature.
As you can see in our media galleries, I created crappy Green Lantern and Superman logos, but these are my own artistic shortcomings and not those of the Paint Tool. If I had practiced a bit more, both would've been a lot more solid; hell, I didn't even bother to use the multi-level zoom tool to get in and smooth things out. Luckily, everything you create here can be uploaded and tagged to the SVR servers, so if you don't feel like getting good, you can just download the work of others and use it as your own. Personally, I can't wait to see this stuff get in your hands and watch what you come up with.
These creations can then be put on your characters just like regular old logos could be. Thing is -- with my two superheroes as test subjects -- it seems how the logos look in the create mode isn't always how they look in the ring. When I put the Green Lantern logo on my guy in CAS mode, the white circle ran right up to the green tunic and looks slick. However, when I took Green Lantern into the ring, I found bits of black popping up when the logo met the green shirt -- almost like the bottom layer shirt was trying to crawl out from the seam. A similar set of off-color pixels popped up with my horrible-looking Superman logo. We'll have to see if this glitch makes it into the final game.
Another quick observation to toss out there is that I was initally a bit disappointed by the fact that you can only -- at least in this build -- have 20 logos saved in terms of both your creations and the ones you've downloaded. After fooling with the options for a while, I'm fine with it. See, after you've put a logo on someone or something, it's there. You can change the logo in the Paint Tool or delete it altogether and the content will still exist wherever it is that you pasted it. Chances are anything I create I'll only use once or twice, so tossing it out isn't a big deal. Plus, if I can upload it and save it to the SVR servers, it's theoretically there for me to download again. We'll need to get the final game to see if that's really the case.
That's not all for the creation stuff, kiddos. Create A Finisher is also on this preview disc and allows you to save 30 special moves. Although it has been overhauled visually and loads a hell of a lot quicker -- I mean, you pick a move part and you're seeing it instantaneously -- the big addition here is diving finishers. When you choose to create a new move, you need to pick at the very start if it's a front grapple move or a diving one. The front grapple one's the same system we saw before (start with 36 moves such as Poison Fog and Wrestling Hero Slam Clutch 01 as options and then start branching out into different holds and finishers from there) even though new moves have been added, but a diving finisher starts you on the top turnbuckle.
http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/article/102/1023111/wwe-smackdown-vs-raw-2010-20090909034817194.jpg
I know, I know -- it's bad.
Your first decision is choosing one of 16 taunts or 53 take off animations such as simple leaps and the beginnings of flips. From there, you have more than 60 dives to begin stringing together that range from sunset flips to Superman poses to flying punches. After that, it's more dives, new descents, and finishing moves. It's sweet, and all the better because you're creating 10-step processes that could never happen in real life. I mean, some of the stuff I have created here has guys just flipping through the air and hanging in the sky for no reason. You can change the speed the guys are moving at as well as what trajectory each part of the move is coming in at so things get crazy quickly. It's insane and one of the few times I've been able to round up my coworkers to have them watch SVR and actually be entertained.
A quick hit before I end this preview, I got the chance to fool with Superstar Threads here as well. This is a pretty simple concept, so I won't beat a dead horse. You pick an existing WWE Superstar and get to save three alternative versions of their attire. You're not redressing them, just taking what they're already wearing and re-coloring it. So, you can only jump in and change the color of Cena's jean shorts, sweatbands, etc. You can't add or subtract these things and you can't add or change any logos the wrestler may or may not have. This is a simple way to keep your roster looking like it does on programming as well as changing Triple H into a pink outfit.
I'll be the first to admit that I expected the worst when THQ was saying nothing about this game, but WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2010 has me very excited to play the final game. When I got my first hands-on with the title, the TV-like presentation had me jazzed, and the fact that this creation stuff is so slick is only adding to that feeling. Toss in that I'm going to be able to share all this content with players like you, there's a Create A Story mode that I haven't even seen in person, the game's got a brand new Road to WrestleMania, and that we can create entrance videos from Highlight Reel clips, and you've got me ready and waiting for Oct. 20, 2009.

<font color=goldenrod>So...there have been several reports that the roster was posted on GameSpot and then quickly taken down. Nobody believed them, until somebody else came forth who had supposedly print screen'd the images when it was up and the rosters matched.
I'm going to post them, but I will say I'm extremely skeptical that it's just a Photoshop job. Mind, it's a good one if it is indeed Photoshopped...but some things just don't add up for me. The most skeptical things for me are Helms having two attires even though the Hurricane only just returned (it had been discussed for some time, but still), and just the general size of the roster, there are 75 listed here.
If it IS true though, this is quite possibly the best roster of any SmackDown game.</font>

They rarely remove future endeavor'd guys past a certain point...the only time I remember them going out of their way to pull someone from a game was after the Benoit incident (where they also took RVD out, probably figuring "eh, may as well pull him too while we're at it).
Makes sense to have Austin and Rock there as well, as they would be in the Legends section if unlocked. If this article is legit though I'm surprised they didn't denote that they wouldn't come with the game.</font>

I'd rather have hogan than anyone else on that fake legends list, tbh.

Clearly, the Hogan clip is from LOWM, not only is the model identical but you can see it's an old arena. Somebody fucked up by putting that in the middle of the actual SVR10 footage.</font>

What was different about the LOW RR?
Lord-Of-Darkness

Basically more animations to elimination, rather than the usual SD struggle/punch combo.
If my memory serves me correctly, then it was the struggle to get the leg over the rope method, like we see on tv, among others.

Is there no grapple in the Rumble?
Disturbed316

Yeah, its just the mechanics of the game, they did away with grapples for LOW.

That doesn't look any better than SvR's Royal Rumble to me. Hopefully it's something different.

You get eliminated way to easy in LOW Rumble. Also, when you grapple someone, you pretty much just push them....and you float over the top rope. Also, punching someone can send someone over.
But I like the animations to the LOW Rumble....I've been waiting for that for a long time.

Yeah, but SvR Rumble is also way too easy. If it's two-on-one in the struggle you have no chance of staying in the ring. It should be based more on your damage.

<font color=goldenrod>Yeah the Rumble is entirely too easy. Hell, if you were to watch an all CPU Rumble literally all it is is
*throw, attempt, slide back in*
*throw other guy, attempt, slide back in*
*throw original guy again, and he is always eliminated*
and that's it</font>
