Supreme, I have no doubt in my mind that the Bengals make the playoffs. In fact, I'm pulling for them to win the AFC Championship and represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
Then again, that all depends on what Tebow and the Denver Tebows do.

Writing off the Ravens is pretty fun because Ravens fans are unbelievably sensitive for some reason. Especially about Joe Flacco. If anybody even insinuates that he may not be great, Ravens fans go batshit in defense. It might be because they're a relatively small market right next to a sea of huge market teams dunno. They are constantly searching for their "due."

Well they do? Granted I see Denver taking Oakland out with the way Tebow keeps winning.
Should have written most teams there, but I figured you'd know what I meant.

I get what you meant, but basically a third of the AFC is above them :p
Not to mention the 3 teams only a game behind them. Though that is kinda irrelevant to your better record point

I hope so too, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. I went into this season thinking I'd be happy with 6 wins and a foundation to build on for next season. So obviously my expectations have been surpassed already. But the schedule has definitely played a huge part in their record. At best, the Bengals are the 4th best team in the AFC, and that doesn't include Denver who beat the Bengals earlier this year or Houston without a QB.
For them to make the Super Bowl, they'll probably have to win road games at Oakland/Denver, Baltimore/Pittsburgh, and New England. That ain't gonna happen, bub.
Love the optimism though!

Came into the season expecting another 4 win year, and here they've got 6 with five games left. So I'd say playoffs or not this season has been a huge success for the Broncos. Def plenty to build on for next year (come onnnnn 1st round CB). But I'm gonna gonna lie, being only a game behind both the wildcard AND the division with a somewhat light schedule remaining, I'd be pretty disappointed with no playoff berth.
Now as far as winning in the playoffs, don't expect that at all. Though I am of course very open to surprises

Keep on replaying that ref call on Gore for chop blocking and gently weep to myself. Was not a chop block whatsoever. Definitely not something you can justify taking points off the board for.

You have to cling to the "Nobody believes in us" notion. Even though you're 9-2, cling to it. Don't let it go.

Joe Flacco has more wins (44) than every QB in the NFL since he came into the league in 2008. More than Peyton Manning, Eli Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Ben Roethisberger, Phillip Rivers..blah blah. The only QB in the history of the NFL with more wins in first 3 years was Dan Marino, and Flacco just tied Marino's 4 year win total this past game vs the 49ers meaning through 4 years he has the most wins of any QB in the history of the NFL (since they went to 16 games, blah blah..)
Only including regular season wins (40 so far) puts him on pace to have more regular season wins through first 5 years than Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger, Dan Marino (48) and John Elway (46).

As a Steeler Fan, The Bengals are a more dangerous team over the next 5 years. Ravens will be older and past their window. Dalton has been a million times the quarterback I thought he was gonna be and AJ Green is redic.
As long as Bengals management doesn't step in like it usually does and screws it all up, they will be a contender for the long haul. They may be just a little too young this year, but they will be a strong team for a long time, IMO.

Ok. Yet every single guy you mentioned is better than Joe Flacco by leaps and bounds. It takes more than a quarterback to win those games and Flacco hasn't been a sole reason for their success at all. I would say that more than a couple of those games were won on defense despite Joe Flacco. Statistics matter Droford, but they're also easily manipulated. Go after the stats that matter.

Anyway, was fucking around with the Playoff Predictor that they have every year. After next week's guaranteed loss, the Giants can still win the division...but it'd mean ending on a 4 game winning streak, including beating Dallas twice. Dallas would also have to lose to either the Cardinals, Bucs, or Eagles. Shit. :(
Scary part is, they could conceivably still back in to a Wild Card spot simply because the Lions are also in freefall mode and I just don't trust Caleb Hanie.</font>

Writing off the Ravens is also easy because the team is so predictable in crunch time. I'm a big fan of Joe Flacco, but even I can see that he's not as amazing as some fans want you to believe. This team has been defense-oriented for years and I have no problem with that.

Ugh, it's looking more and more like Peyton Hillis isn't going to be with the Browns next year. Dude seems like a major crybaby. Cleveland continuously getting kicked in the nuts as time goes by. They'll probably be forced to go after a RB in the first round of the draft instead of using it on something else they desperately need. To pull out of this tailspin their going to need to draft some solid players that actually stay long enough for the team to be rebuilt.

Heard somewhere that if the new Jags owner takes the team from Jacksonville to Los Angeles, the value of the franchise instantly goes from about $700 million to about $1.2 billion. Shitty fan base or not, I dunno how you pass that up.

You forgot the Dodgers and for the most part, it all still rings true about them as well until they are doing well. Fans go back and forth between the Dodgers and the Angels, dependent on who is performing well.
The Dodgers had a solid fan base until people stopped going to games out of fear of death

Giants place left tackle Will Beatty on IR. That is now 11 players on IR for them, and when you include players waived on injury settlement that brings it up to 20. Just a retarded amount of injuries.
Injuries play a part of it but teams have won despite injuries. I just get pissed watching the team get beat in the trenches. The offensive line has been pretty fucking abysmal all year and the Giants have beaten the bad teams in spite of that. The last few weeks the defensive line has played piss poorly. I think the coaching staff believes too much in the ability to get pressure with the front four. They're simply not getting it done and as far as I can tell there hasn't been any adjustment week to week to the game plan to get pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
Was anyone actually shocked that Drew Brees had a great game when he wasn't even close to being touched?

Police: Raiders LB Rolando McClain arrested in Alabama fight on assault charges

By Associated Press, Updated: Thursday, December 1, 3:58 PM
DECATUR, Ala. — Authorities say Oakland Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain has been arrested. He is facing assault, firearms and other charges after a fight in his Alabama hometown.
Lt. John Crouch of the Decatur Police Department released a statement Thursday saying McClain allegedly fired a gun beside a man’s head during a fight reported Wednesday night. The statement says the man begged McClain not to shoot him.
No one was shot, but police say a man who was injured in the altercation drove himself to a hospital, where he was treated and released.
McClain was taken into custody on Thursday and held on $2,000 bond. Another man identified as Jerradius Willingham also is charged.
Earlier this year McClain, the 2009 Butkus Award winner at Alabama, reported someone in Decatur shooting at his vehicle.

Saw this somewhere, I haven't run it through a playoff simulator yet but it sounds plausible:
If the Ravens beat Cleveland both times and clinch the division before the last game at Cincinnati, it could be possible that a Ravens loss would eliminate the Steelers from the playoffs! What the Ravens need is for Cincinnati to beat Pittsburgh next week.
Think about it, going into the last game:
-Ravens would hold the division tiebreaker over Pittsburgh and Cincy (Ravens 5-0, Pittsburgh 2-3, Cincinnati 3-2)
-The Ravens already own the head-to-head tiebreaker over Pittsburgh
-Even if we lose to Cincinnati, we would still have the division tiebreaker over them (5-1 to 4-2)
-Cincinnati would own the tiebreaker over Pittsburgh (4-2 to 3-3)
Im feeling the Steelers might lose later on today, So this could create a scenario like the last day of the MLB regular season where Yankees fans rooted for their team to lose so the Red Sox would be eliminated. How crazy would this be?A Ravens loss could eliminate the Steelers! that would be hillarious, seeing Steelers fans rooting for the Ravens..I really hope that at least they have to root for the Ravens to win..if I loss would cost the Ravens a bye then I hope that the Ravens would go to win but if they can't get a Bye or they can't lose the bye then I say lose it and piss the Steelers fans off even more lol.

Flex game for Week Fifteen still up in air
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on December 6, 2011, 5:08 PM EST
There’s a battle brewing over what network gets to air the Tim Tebow vs. Tom Brady Week Fifteen matchup in Denver.
The game between the Broncos and Patriots is a logical choice to be flexed into NBC’s Sunday Night matchup where the Ravens and Chargers are currently slated to face off. There aren’t any other particularly good options that week.
Mike Klis of the Denver Post reports that CBS and Patriots owner Robert Kraft are both fighting to keep the game in the late afternoon time slot.
The Patriots probably don’t want to take a later flight out of Denver. Kraft also has a business relationship with CBS, who owns a restaurant at Patriot Place in Foxborough.
It was clear even before Klis’ report that some jockeying was going on. The flex schedule changes are usually announced by this point in the week, often on Monday.
We’d expect some word to come down from the league and the networks sometime Tuesday. The league guarantees that plans will be announced at least 13 days before the game.

So now the NFL is breaking it's own deadline for when to announce the flexed games by just for the Patriots  Supposed to be announced no later than Tuesday night, now they'll wait until at least tomorrow. Every team has had to deal with being flexed for a few years now, why the fuck does it get to be so different for the Patriots?

I really doubt that a questionable call in the first quarter cost the Giants the game. That's just looking for excuses there.
Yeah I agree. The officiating was horrible but the Giants were there at the end of the game. The officiating didn't make the difference.

One thing I was wondering...
What is the rule regarding players stepping out of bounds then returning to the field of play? As I recall, if a player steps out, they can't be the first player to touch the ball after returning to the field of play.
On the Packers last score the WR clearly stepped out of bounds in the back corner of the endzone and then was the first player to touch the ball when he caught it in the front corner of the endzone. I don't know how the referee missed it because it was blatantly obvious.

I'm pretty sure that was the rule for a while, remember it pretty clearly. But at some point they changed to to so long as the player clearly establishes himself in the field of play again, he's good. I remember it last season when a Bronco tackled someone by the sideline while Dawkins was out of bounds, he saw it, jumped back inbounds, planted two feet on the ground and then scooped the ball up

I doubt anyone really wants to see the Ravens vs Chargers but for my sake since I have to work I kind of would like them to keep it there so I can watch the game when I get off work. It still could be a game with some playoff implications and shouldn't really be that bad of a game..
I think the Patriots are in trouble if Dan Orlovsky is carving them up for 30-37 350+ and a few td's. Definitely an issue with that team.

I like how I was right about the Patriots pulling out their main guys and letting the Colts backdoor cover too. I sort of figure the Colts will probably cover the +16.5 vs the Ravens this Sunday..they'll probably get a garbage TD late just the same.
Uhhh the Patriots didn't pull anyone as far as I know.

um they reviewed it and he clearly did NOT step outside the back of the endzone. Had he, the score wouldnt have counted and may have been a penalty.

Yeah he barely had his foot in bounds. The questionable call in the game was the Jennings TD.

If the Colts were to listen to Archie Manning, Andrew Luck might not get drafted by the team because he thinks Luck wouldn't fit well with Peyton nor does he think both of them would want to be on the same team.
Although his basis for this is due to him being on the same team with Luck's dad when both played in the NFL and said it didn't work out well.

yay I get to see the game...
Just noticed this, Drew Brees is 8 games short of Johnny Unitas' 47 games straight with a TD Streak. If the Saints were to play 8 more games this year, barring the 49ers collapsing, the 8th game would be the Super Bowl. Would no doubt be cool if the Ravens played the Saints and could stop him from tying the record.

I'm in DC this weekend. Half tempted get Redskins/Patriots tickets. Could end up being very regrettable. Hmm...

The only replay angle they played at the stadium looked like he did. Thanks for clearing it up though. :y:

I'd honestly put Garcia as #2 over Delholme. Come on now.
