Ted Ginn MVP imo.

Proline was busted when the Colts got owned :(

Had 4/5 of the rest though. Including calling a tie (game decided by three or less)

Hate that I had to work and missed everything.

<font color=goldenrod>Wow, absolutely atrocious defense. Also not really sure why Bradshaw kept getting the carries on 3rd and short when the defense was clearly set up for the run. That's what Jacobs is for. Ugly.

With Philadelphia looming in Week 3, next week against the Rams is already looking like a must-win game.</font>

Wow can't believe Newton tore it up. I seen a bit of the game and his recievers seemed they were open alot of the time. Still impressive

I would be shocked if the Colts don't call Kurt Warner.

RoXer
09-11-2011, 07:51 PM
Dunno why the Cards stopped blitzing at all.

It's either a sign that or defense is terrible or Cam Newton is the real deal. Time will tell.

Requiem
09-11-2011, 07:53 PM
Wouldn't mind that at all, but I doubt Warner would come out of retirement. Should have called him from the start if they were gonna try and get someone. Idk. Wayne only caught that one TD pass because he is Reggie Wayne. Collins didn't make it easy for him.

<font color=goldenrod>Started Julio Jones ahead of Steve Smith today in 2 leagues. I'm sure most people would have made that same choice especially with Newton debuting, but still...fuck.</font> :(

RoXer

Kurt Warner is not going to play football anymore, what is this

If he was, he would have played last year after non-stop "phone calls" from the Cards

Sounded so dorky and country on the mic today

I'm sure Julio will look better later on in the season, but the Falcons just looked awful. Awful awful. Worse than the Green Bay game.

Im feeling Ravens 14-2 at least..if not better

toughest games on their schedule are in October but all at home (Jets/Texans/Cardinals) with a Bye week thrown in between the Jets and Texans games and at Jacksonville between Texans and Cardinals.

They beat the Jets and Texans last year on the road.

If they get through that, theres the game in Pittsburgh in November and a game in San Diego in December that are tough..

Havent been this excited about the ravens after Game #1 in a while..

Great fightback and awesome spirit from the Jets. Frustrating to watch at times but hey it's week 1, it'll improve. Jerry Jones and Tony Romo's smug, delighted faces mid way through the 3rd quarter like it was all but over made me know they were going to pull off the vintage Cowboys meltdown. Loved it.

ESPN must be creaming themselves for tonight. Monday Night Countdown starts at 5:00, Patriots/Dolphins at 7:00, Broncos/Raiders at 10:15, Sportscenter at 1:30, NFL Primetime at 3:00, Sportscenter replays from 4:00 - 2:00, and then NFL Primetime again from 2:00 - 3:00.

That, folks, is 22 straight hours of Tom Brady and Tim Tebow programming.

I wonder if Jerry Jones is regretting putting too much faith into Romo because 9 years into his career and he still isn't reliable in clutch situations. ESPN basically stated Jones pride/ego is too strong to take the ridicule if he goes for another QB while drafting or getting a new QB means the team will struggle for a bit while adjusting.

If I hear one more thing about Tebow being 3rd string behind that waste of oxygen Brady Quinn my head is going to explode. I understand Orton, I don't necessarily agree with it, but I understand it. Brady Quinn...no, and the day they put that worthless hack in is the day this whole Broncos administration has waved the white flag.

Brady Quinn was great in practice? Splendid, when they decide to completely remove the defense from the field I will be the first one to ask them to put him on the field. Until then he shouldn't even be allowed out of the locker room, much less on the field for a game that counts.

FearedSanctity
09-13-2011, 06:21 PM
Just can't get over people constantly shitting on Tebow saying he can't win in the NFL or saying how unproven he is.

Though he didn't do too great in his first game vs Oakland, he did show flashes. The next week vs Texans he led the Broncos from down 17-0 at the half to a 24-23 win. In the last week he almost led ANOTHER comeback vs San Diego, THE LEAGUE'S TOP RANKED DEFENSE, but fell just short, 28-33.

And what are Orton's stats post-McDaniels? 43 of 87 for 470 yds, 1 TD and 4 INTs in 2 losses.

COME ON, BRO

DaveBrawl
09-13-2011, 06:44 PM
Maybe it's me, but I'm pretty sure that most guys are fairly unproven before they have made more than a couple starts. ESPN and most sportswriters don't seem to think that though.

I think Orton is a pretty good quarterback, but he is a guy that needs a decent team to get wins, and the Broncos really aren't that good offensively they do seem to be improving defensively though thankfully. If Manning were out for a large chunk of the season and the Colts traded for KO, they could make the playoffs I believe. That would likely be an ideal spot for him. Denver doesn't fit Orton's strengths and he and the team will likely struggle until something changes.

Skippord

On Monday, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/1163/tom-brady) had a night to remember. On Wednesday, he arguably had a press conference to forget.
Commenting on the team’s home opener, a late-afternoon kickoff against the Chargers, Brady said, “Yeah, start drinking early (http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/44526501/). It’s a 4:15 game. They have a lot of time to get lubed up, come out here and cheer for the home team.”
Brady was grinning, and the remark drew laughter from reporters. But those who profit from the sale of alcohol are compelled to point out that alcohol should be consumed in moderation. Otherwise, those who sell the alcohol may be liable for any mayhem created by anyone who has gotten himself “lubed up.”
And so Brady, through Patriots spokesman Stacey James, tried to clean up the mess. James said that Brady “wants everyone to drink a lot of water, stay hydrated. Drink responsibly.”
So fans should drink water responsibly?
Look, Brady said what he said. He was referring to the consumption of alcohol. So why not just say he was joking, and that he doesn’t condone drinking beyond the point of getting “lubed up”?
Tom Brady will get a pass on this from the media, because he’s Tom Brady. If other guys would have said, even in jest, that folks should take advantage of the late kickoff to get snockered so they’ll be loud and obnoxious in the stands, the complaints would be flowing like, well, water.

I think they might need the lube for what the Chargers are gonna do to them..

My Betting Picks Week 2 (Week 1 (http://www.tpww.net/forums/showpost.php?p=3624357&postcount=27)ATS 7-8-1)

Jaguars +9 @ Jets
Bears +6.5 @ Saints
Bills -3 vs Raiders
Redskins -3.5 vs Cardinals
Ravens -5.5 @ Titans
Seahawks +14 @ Steelers
Packers -9.5 @ Panthers
Buccaneers -3 @ Vikings
Colts +2 vs Browns
Lions -8 vs Chiefs
49ers +3 vs Cowboys
Texans +3 @ Dolphins
Chargers +7 @ Patriots (lock of the week)
Eagles -2.5 @ Falcons
Giants -6 vs Rams

too many road teams.

Raiders/Cardinals fall into the west coast team traveling to the East Coast for a 1pm game trap..West Coast teams typically lose straight up about 80% of the time in that situation. I do like the Seahawks which are the same case, but only because they're getting 2 Touchdowns and after seeing the Steelers play, no matter how much hell people think they will unleash on the Seahawks, I can't see it ending with them winning by more than 2 TDs.

Bears are better than the Saints, deal with it. No way should anyone bet on the Browns, even against a perceived crappy Colts team. The Dolphins have never beaten the Texans (0-5 all time), cant see that changing after the shallacking the Dolphins got on MNF and with the short week. Caveat: The 5 games were decided by a margin of 1,2,3,1 and 7 points...

49ers get no love as the Cowboys are undeserving Favorites on the Road off a choke job loss on the road..take the live home dog here.

Upset Special/Lock of the week: As well as both the Pats played..they are coming off a short week and their glaring problems on Defense will show up a hell of a lot better vs a competent Chargers team. Not to mention Rivers is 12-4 all time ATS as an underdog.

EDIT 3-10-3 ATS (10-18-4 Season)...horrible

Crimson

I agree about the Bears ..they will probably still lose but not by blowout. Brees might pull it off in the end though.

I like the Steelers in a blowout, they'll cover.

Hard to pinpoint the Raiders, I think that defense is for real and wouldn't be surprised if they stuff the Bills and hold them under 14 points. But then I wouldn't be surprised either if the Bills beat em handily so I dunno..i'll go with Oakland . I

WTF...pushed the wrong buttons!

I dont think the Bills running game is good enough to tire that defense out. If Oakland loses it'll be because of their shitty offense.

And Cowboys should cover..the Niners just plain aren't that good. Nice defense might keep em in the game for awhile but 'boys should cover.

Being Dylan "Yes That Favre" Favre isn't always as awesome as it sounds. Fans and media only seem interested because of your famous uncle (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/players/1025). Scouts only seem interested in dismissing you because of your height (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/andy_staples/12/29/dylan-favre/index.html). Then, in one of the biggest games of your team's season, you have to watch helplessly from the sideline as not one but two quarterbacks ahead of you on the depth chart are beaten senseless by LSU's defense (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/LSU-buries-another-offense-and-begins-to-discov?urn=ncaaf-wp6368).

http://l.yimg.com/a/p/sp/editorial_image/01/016f7f9c72c107b183285e554fa20ece/dylan_favre_just_wants_an_opportunity_and_he_wants_the_world_to_know_it.jpg

And when your 19-year-old brain decides to vent its frustration over a lack of playing time (http://twitter.com/#%21/DnoB_favre_6no4/status/114557242971402240) via Twitter, the whole "Favre" thing guarantees people are going to notice. And so they have: As of this morning, the plaintive appeal Favre posted in the immediate aftermath of Mississippi State (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/teams/mmq/)'s 19-6 loss (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/boxscore?gid=201109150078) Thursday night — "Is an opportunity too much 2 ask for?" — had been re-tweeted several dozen times and has already begun to make the rounds (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2011/9/16/2428979/dylan-favre-brett-favre-mississippi-state-quarterback) on sports blogs such as, well, this one. The more important question: Is it going to make the rounds this weekend in the coaches' offices and/or the Bulldog locker room?

Favre's frustration is as understandable as any third-stringer's in a loss. Starter Chris Relf was sacked three times, intercepted once and failed to get the offense into the end zone in more than three quarters of work. Backup Tyler Russell, allegedly the better passer of the two, was easily overwhelmed in the fourth quarter, taking one sack, fumbling on another and serving up an ugly-looking interception of his own. As usual against LSU's defense (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/U-G-L-Y-LSU-ain-t-got-no-alibi-Just-another-bi?urn=ncaaf-wp5884), no one comes out looking very good.

The alternative, of course, would have been to send the (officially) (http://www.mstateathletics.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=16800&ATCLID=204973223) 5-foot-10, 195-pound Favre in for the first game action of his career against a defense that had already swallowed two more experienced passers whole, in a must-pass situation in which a comeback was already out of reach and the nasty LSU (http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/teams/lli/) pass rush could pin its ears back with no threat of a running game to slow it down. Your competitive fire is noted, young Favre, but trust us: In this case, you definitely would not have been just having fun out there.

been scouring the net high and low for (parts of) the last few hours searching for the first part of the Bill Belichick: A Football Life doc that aired on NFL Network last night. Found the bastard if anybody else is interested:

NFL Network said they got the highest ratings ever in the network's history because of that documentary while ESPN having nothing else to write about did a whole story about the time BB swore at Derrick Mason when he was on the Ravens over a catch he made in 2009.

In the NFL Network documentary, "Bill Belichick: A Football Life," which aired Thursday night, Belichick can be seen going off on Mason, then with the Ravens, after he hauled in a catch near the Patriots' sideline during a game in 2009.

"Oh, f--- you, Mason. Just f--- you," the Patriots head coach told Mason after the veteran said something to him. "Why don't we talk after the game, all right? Just shut the f--- up."

Mason then appears to laugh before Belichick says, "Can you look at the scoreboard?"

How come on fade routes in the endzone where the QB always just throws a high jump ball to the WR to go up and get, we haven't seen any DB's just walk under the receiver, try to catch him and carry him out of bounds?

Was it you who said that they were going to start doing that when the rule was implemented? Or was it someone else?

Was it me? I don't even know. First heard the idea here though.

they used to have a rule where if that happened the receiver was ruled in but they got rid of it.

I think more now because dbs are going for the ball too as well as recievers being taller and stronger now a days... at least the ones that make those jump balls

Prob gonna happen, Denver will lose to any team with at least a moderately capable run game. Plus Bengals don't have to worry about Champ, DJ Williams for sure and possibly Dumervil. And a gimped Lloyd? That's a wrap

Marv Albert just called the Browns the Cavs. I'm sure most people will attribute that to his lengthy run calling NBA games, but I'm going to assume that Marv actually said Calves and was thinking about his legs in a nice pair of pantyhose again.
