:-\ back to .500 for the Red Sox and a loosing record again at home after dropping 3 in a row.

Dice-K got promoted to Bard's #5th spot and starts this Saturday. If he pitches well enough, it should be the sign Bard goes back to the bullpen although management is still too stubborn to move him there.

He may not get the votes but Andrew McCutchen is playing like an All-Star Starter. He is the entire offense for the Pirates most days.

Triple Naitch
06-10-2012, 06:26 PM
McCutchen will definitely make it in. Maybe as a replacement starter for Kemp is he's not healthy. Pirates should actually have more than one all star this year with McDonald.

Emperor Smeat
06-10-2012, 06:27 PM
Aceves sucks as a closer. Biggest problem is he's pretty streaky and for every few games he's good, he does almost the same in bad. Works a lot better as a setup/long relief but management is too dumb to figure this out.

The team isn't horrible but too dam frustrating to watch knowing every game its either the starters, the bullpen, or the hitters that decide to no show and rarely do all 3 play great in a game.

Triple Naitch
06-10-2012, 06:29 PM
The Nationals are pretty legit though. They have the best rotation and bullpen in baseball right now and when healthy their lineup can mash.

Nah if the Mets can tread water until they get some of their players back from the DL, they'll be in a good position.

There aren't any players left on the DL that will make a huge difference really. Ruben Tejada will slot back in at SS, but Omar Quintanilla's been incredible in his absence. Ronny Cedeno and Justin Turner are pretty much strictly bench guys.

The big guy to come off the DL was Bay, who Mets fans were hoping would finally show something - unfortunately he ended up going 0-for-12 and he still looks lost at the plate. I have no idea why signing that contract sucked away his talents, but it did. I think he may get the Oliver Perez/Luis Castillo treatment and get cut during next spring before the final year of his deal starts.

Between Bay sucking, Ike having one good at-bat per every 25, and Murphy losing all of his power - the Mets have to pretty much be carried by their pitching. But their bullpen is just atrocious. Nobody they seem to throw out there can hold on to the lead in a close game.

4 really hard series coming up - Rays, Reds, Orioles, Yankees. If they get through that at 6-6 I'd be impressed.

Imagine if Strasburg was on the Rangers, Nolan Ryan wouldn't stand for such nonsense.

Keith

Rizzo is still saying that Strasburg is done at 160 innings this year. Gonna be funny if they choke away a playoff spot or something because they shut their ace down during a Cy Young caliber year.

So what's he going to do if the Nationals make the playoffs? Not start Strasburg? Limit him to 5 innings?

It's almost like he's not counting on the team making the playoffs.

Great performance today by Doubront who took a no hitter into the 6th before Miami finally got a hit and a run.

Red Sox hitting really broke the game wide open in the 8th with 6 runs and most of those with no outs.

Big news was former GM Theo Epistein finally took some blame for the problems the last few seasons and the mess from this season. Before he tried to shift all the blame to Tito and others before scrambling out to Chicago. Also admitted that he won't try to force a "win it now" approach any time soon with the Cubs after learning from his mistakes the last few years.

Mets are appealing BJ Upton's first inning hit, saying it should be an error on David Wright. If overturned, Dickey would have the second Mets no hitter in 2 weeks after the team had gone 50+ years without one.

However Collins, Dickey, and Wright have pretty much told everybody not to hold their breath. Too close to call. Don't see Selig awarding a retroactive no-hitter. If he wouldn't award a blatant perfect game, he's not gonna award a no hitter.

Probably just the baseball gods evening things out after the Beltran call from Johan's no-no.

Cubs trade predictions

Ryan Dempster - Tigers

Matt Garza - not traded

Alfonso Soriano - Rays

James Russell - Braves

Geovanny Soto - not traded

Brian Lahair - This is the most interesting one. Theo has been chirping about Rizzo being ready to call up, but theres not currently an everyday spot for him. I think Lahairs situation is directly tied to Soriano. If Soriano gets dealt, I think Lahair stays. If he doesn't, I think the Cubs will look to ship Lahair. I'm going to say he's not dealt because Soriano is hitting the piss out of the ball and someone us going to get him at a cheap rate and give up a decent prospecT.

David Dejesus - Another interesting one. I think he's headed to the Braves too.

The problem with trading Garza is that Jim Hendry basically emptied our farm system to get him. I don't think Theo will trade him unless he gets atleast 85% of what we have for him. As far as the O's. If Theo didnt push hard for Manny Machado, he should retire. And I highly doubt the O's would let Machado go.

That's.the idea. No way Lahair could play RF at Wrigley. So unless he learns third base overnight, LF is the only place for him.

Make no mistake about Garza. He's one of the best pitchers in the league. You can't look at his w/l's or era. This guy has had the worst luck ever. Our defense seems to shit themselves everytime he pitches. Case in point, last night.

The big difference is that this would be overturning the official scorer - which happens a decent amount of the time. The other would be overturning an umpire, which baseball doesn't want to do.

Frankly, as cool as it would be to see Dickey get a no-no...Upton is a very fast dude. He may have beaten out the play even if Wright had fielded it cleanly. I'd mark but I'm willing to admit that it probably shouldn't be overturned.

Apparently you jabronies don't think the major league leader in hits and batting average (at least 100 AB's), Melky Cabrera, deserves to start in the OF? Fags.

Kemp will probably not play in the ASG if he doesn't heal up soon. Andrew McCutchen will take his spot. Leaving Melky to DH. Happy?

or not.... I'm sure Anthopoulos will be glad to give you Francisco Cordero for him :shifty:

Cordero might die on the flight over.

My hometown boys, the Lansing Lugnuts (Class 'A' Toronto affiliate) are currently the 2nd best professional baseball team in the land, behind only the St. Lucie Mustangs.

Fucking 25 GAMES OVER .500!!! Outstanding job, boys! :y::y::y:

Oh, and did I mention there's still 2 games in their first half, which is normally 70 games per half of the season but one game won't be made up. Still, they won the MWL Eastern Division which puts us in the MWL playoffs in Sept. Never thought I'd say this (at least not since 2003 when they last won a title), but I'm so much more impressed by them than the Tigers right now.

Seriously though, the pitching staff for the NL this year is going to be unreal. There's usually 7 or 8 starting pitchers per all star team but this year there's about 15 guys this year with All Star caliber numbers. Right now you could easily make a case for:

Dickey
Lynn
Dempster
Cain
Vogelsong
McDonald
Hamels
Strasburg
Gonzalez
Miley
Beachy
Greinke
Cueto
Kershaw
Capuano

And then there's several other guys with similar numbers who could end up right in the mix as well.
