Who's some of top prospects on the Lugnuts?

Don't know too much about that, but some of the more "famous" (if you can call them that) guys on the roster right now include:

34 Noah Syndergaard, the 38th overall pick by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2010. His wiki page says before the 2012 season he was rated 95th-best prospect in baseball.

28 John Tamargo, the Lugnuts' current manager, who was drafted way back in 1969 by the New York Yankees, but he never signed. He was drafted again in 1973, by the St. Louis Cardinals, played 20 games with them from '76-'78, and in July '78, the San Francisco Giants acquired him as a catching replacement. He played part of '79 with SF before being traded to the Montréal Expos and played about 12 games that year before finally playing a full season with them in 1980. After that, starting in 1983 he began his managerial and coaching career but I won't bore you with those details. Look up his page on wiki if you're that interested (nobody is).

26 Vince Horsman, who played with Toronto in '91, the A's from '92-'94, and with Minnesota in 1995. He's the current pitching coach here. Other than that, seemingly nothing too remarkable to report on him.

Manny Ramirez got his request granted today to be released by the As and is looking for a team willing to put him on their main roster and not minor league roster.

Main issue was he would have made $500,000 if he got promoted by the As but they didn't have a spot for him at the moment.

Josh Beckett placed on 15 day DL due to inflamed shoulder with it not being blamed for why he struggled lately nor related to him having to miss a start in May.

The team doesn't even want to bother having him just have a day off and instead gave him 2 weeks to recover. Also makes it 10-11 players on the DL with Clayton Mortensen getting the call from Pawtucket to pitch tomorrow.

Red Sox management finally admitted the Bard experiment as a starter was a big failure overall considering he's playing worse in Pawtucket and decided his return to the Red Sox will be bullpen only.

ESPN is reporting a trade for Youkilis is imminent with the White Sox as strong favorites and the Pirates as a likely #2 candidate. Biggest issue is the team favors Middlesbrook now at 3B and Youkilis hasn't improved stats-wise or image-wise since his early season spat and last year's club meltdown revelations.

In a way he sort of killed his own value with the constant complaining and issues from last year's collapse but Red Sox got something decent out of the deal. It also didn't help how hot Middlesbrook has been to the point people wanted Middlesbrook to stay on the roster.

Any deal was going to involve the Red Sox "eating" most of his contract since nobody wanted to touch it. His last rant probably was the final straw and they wanted him gone as soon as possible.

Manny Ramirez’s Dreads Will Cause Drug Use, Abortion, Gayness, Blindness, Fan Tells The A’s Triple-A Affiliate In Insane Voicemail

This disgruntled fan of the Sacramento River Cats would like you to know that she is NOT fuddy duddy. Nor is she a crackpot. She just thinks that Manny Ramirez's dreadlocks are the reason that "unwholesomeness" is spreading across the American landscape. I strongly urge you to listen to this voicemail in its entirety, as the lady builds to a comedic crescendo so perfectly timed, it feels as if the entire thing was scripted by a UCB troupe. And be sure to note how often she touches on the issue of dreadlocks being a blindness hazard. She really has that talking point down. Some highlights:

• "I'm a viewer of television and I noticed that Manny Rodriguez [sic] has these long, long dreadlocks."
• "Lotta people out here don't feel these people should be able to play with this long hair."
• "It flies in the faces of um uh uh first second and third base when they're tagging them out and it could hurt their eyes... it could really hurt them!"
• "They don't wash that hair!"
• "Any long hair should be out!"
• "They have to cut it in a lot of sports. I don't think they can have it in swimming!"
• "Long hair and drugs, we all know, goes together. It's just like a cheater and liar, what Dr. Phil says, goes hand in hand. When they cheat on a house, they also are a liar."
• "It doesn't look wholesome."
• "You really need to give this message to the executive committee."
• "I'm a lady and I am not a fuddy duddy."
• "They're all gettin' in trouble on steroids and using cortisone for energy... THAT STUFF CAUSES CANCER. That's why Lance Armstrong, the bike guy, got cancer."
• "We study this stuff."
• "And then it gets into ... people start OKing abortion and gay marriage. It gets into a lot of stuff that is NOT according to the Bible or according to the American values."
• "It's a lazy thing, having this long hair!"
• "It looks like a girl!"

Interleague play itself should determine what team gets home-field advantage in the WS. The League that wins the most games gets HFA. The All-star game would be a tiebreaker and count ONLY if the records between AL and the NL are the same.

Would need to have balanced interleague schedules to make that work or be fair overall considering the NL has only managed to be better in interleague just 4 times since it started.

MLB is considering making it balanced once the Astros join the AL but it won't really have the same effect like the NFL who basically perfected it for their league.

From what I've heard, starting next season we may have what we now know as interleague games starting on Opening Day.

I'm all for two 15-team leagues, have the top 8 teams in each league make the playoffs, and have one MVP Award winner, similar to the NBA and NFL. It probably won't happen, of course.

The good thing is that as far as I know CC is only missing 2 starts. That isn't so bad. Now, all we really need is a fifth guy. Kuroda, Hughes, and Nova are all pitching a lot better. So , all though we need Andy . All we really need is a fifth guy because with CC only missing 2 starts we could do this easily. I'm just happy CC isn't gone for an even longer time. If he was the Yankees would probably need to put all the chips on the table for a Garza/ Hamels. At this point though I don't think they need to do that.

I wouldn't be 100 percent banking on him coming back in two starts. Groins are tough to heal.

Now I can cringe less when the call to the bullpen is made.

If when CC and Andy come back, the Yankees are still in first, watch out. Ain't no one overtaking them for the AL East Title if that happens.

I wish the Orioles can hang around long enough for the Wild Card or something. Not because I'm an Oriole fan, but because I am a Buck Showalter fan.

Dodgers sign Yasel Puig. 7-years, $42 mil. After 3 years he can void the contract and go to arb.

The Cubs may have given up too early on Tyler Colvin.
