I'm guessing the Yankees win it in 5.
Again, this is such a shit World Series for me. On one hand I'd absolutely hate to see the Phillies repeat, but then if the Yanks win I have to deal with their fans on a daily basis...Philly fans can be fucking assholes, but at least none of them live around me. Also the Yanks getting #27 will just make it even more unlikely that any other team will win more titles, at least not until way after I'm dead. Think the Cards are like 16 titles behind. :o
I dunno, last year the Rays were a serious rooting interest because they came out of nowhere to win the WS, this year it's the defending champs against the team that clearly pulled away as AL favorites after the break. This year, since I don't have much to root for I probably won't watch all that much except for Game 2 cause seeing Pedro pitch against the Yanks should be a nice throwback.
I just hope whoever wins wins it in the opposing team's stadium so they can do close ups of disappointed fans. :shifty:

Yankees bullpen could be their undoing in this series. There is zero confidence among their relievers right now.

More worried about someone stepping up to set up Mo. He can't pitch two innings every game he gets in this series.

wow, what the heck. Not a good way to start. pretty much the worst way to start a series. hitting was bad, bullpen was bad, Cliff Lee looked invincible and we had some base running goofs. we'll see how the Yanks respond tonight vs Pedro. I can easily see Pedro going a stong 7 though.

Kinda crazy to have Molina out there again. Thought that last game proved Posada should be out there.
Don't really mind Hairston being in because apparently he's hit Pedro pretty well. And the fact that Swisher has looked completely lost out there this whole postseason.
No matter what the lineups are I'm not really expecting a pitcher's duel.

Supreme Olajuwon
10-29-2009, 05:34 PM
It's the right decision and they probably should've done it sooner. Hairston's a .370 hitter against Pedro. Swisher couldn't hit .370 playing tee ball.

The hitting is pretty bad right now. They are striking out way to much. They can'y rely on these solo shots to win games. This series could easily be 2-0 right now.

You know what depresses me? The last National League team who won consecutive WS trophies was the Cincinnati Reds who beat the Yankees in 1976. And I'm worried Philly can do the same.

oh and did anybody else think Damon goofed and got caught in a run down on that play? Because they didn't show 3rd base until a few seconds after he left 2nd base. I'm thinking Damon thought the catcher threw the ball into the outfield and that's why he went to 3rd. I almost about lost it when I saw Damon go for 3rd and then I realized nobody was at 3rd.

Lee will pitch, but he ain't starting. You'll definately see him in relief if it's close You'll see a lot of weird things going on in Game 7.
I'll admit I shut the game off as soon as the ball came off Utley's bat in the 1st. I didn't even watch it land. I get so worked up with Yankee playoff games. I did turn it back on once to see a 6-1 score and then went to bed.
Why wouldnt he start though? It's not like they'll blow this guys arm out. It's game 7 of the world series. Screw the happy horseshit and get this guy out there.
BTW LC. Chase Utley has made CC his bitch this series.
Chase Utley is becomming a legend.

That's not fair to CC. He's making the whole Yanks staff his bitch right now.
I honestly think its going 7 for two reasons. 1) The Phillies bats are incredible. They're bombing on the Yanks even with Ryan Howard having one of the worsts series ever. God forbid Howard decides to chip in during game 6. 2) Pedro Martinez will be at his very best in game 6. The guy is a big game pitcher. He's gunna bring a big game.

I think we even have a chance of seeing AJ again in Game 7 for some middle relief. I just hope they hit Pedro early tomorrow night and score a couple runs. Pettite needs to go 6 and then we just need a stop in the 7th. Rivera is definately going for 2 innings if it's close

Plus with Lee, they kind of got to him last night. He wasn't lights out like Game 1. From what I saw in the highlights anyway. Somebody who watched the entire game would be better to comment. So I don't really know if it would be in thier best interest to start him again
Dragon
11-03-2009, 11:48 AM
Yeah, I mean he gave up 5 runs in 7 innings I think. I thought it was strange how in the post game everyone said how dominant he was again. If Burnett didn't shit the bed we had a good chance in the game.
Anyway, Game 6 is most likely gonna be a battle of the bullpens, which is kinda scary on both sides. Phillies have killed the Yanks bullpen outside of Mariano, but the Yankees have scored late runs off the Phillies bullpen every night it seems.
As long as Pettitte doesn't pull a Burnett I think the Yanks will win tomorrow. If it goes to a game 7 it will just be crazy. No idea what will happen then.
Supreme Olajuwon
11-03-2009, 12:36 PM

Yeah, it definitely is. I just don't think Pedro will be as good as he was last time either though. This will be the first postseason start he's going on with normal rest. Last couple he's had 10+ days off in between each. Who knows if that'll affect him or not.
