Gooner Middlesbrough are fucking shit and they are never going to win anything ever again. Seriously if the Premiership wasn't filled with fucking dire teams this season they would go down. ARGGHHHHH how can you change from one of the best teams to watch ever (at times) to a terrible team with no talent full of old players who are fat and shit and who play infront of 2000 people everygame in a shit city.

It's what I do
Thanks to being on the other side of the planet, I missed both legs but reports I'm hearing are that Roma shat on us the whole second leg (barring the first 20 minuts or so), and Schwarzer pulling off a string of great saves to keep us alive - great stuff, I'm really sorry to have missed it.
Look at the Premiership - take out Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United and name me a club you can see winning something anytime soon. We probably won't win anything soon, you probably won't win anything soon either, watch me care.
There's fucking dire teams in the Premiership every year, packt up, not just this one. The gap's increasing every year (though this one has been different with Wigan and West Ham in the top 10), the Premiership is almost guaranteed 3 teams who will struggle to make the grade (the promoted ones, if you didn't catch that ;)), being propped up by subpar teams is nothing new. Ask Everton why they're still in the top flight after 2 seasons ago, or West Brom why they're still in the top flight after last year.
Also, being in the stadium and witnessing Schwarzer's shootout heroics putting us in the World Cup for the first time in my lifetime kinda converted me. I've made my call :o

I love how Jose Mourinho has to find SOMETHING to complain about. I mean, jesus, where is the logic in "It was a handball, so the goal shouldn't have stood.....but it should've stood because the referee didn't actually see it"
It really makes you wonder what goes on in his head.

Ah yes, that was another one which was pure gold.
But we all know Mourinho thinks that there should be one rule for Chelsea and one for everyone else.
Well technically the goal should have stood even though it was handball theres no way they could have seen it actually happen. I mean the right thing happened but theres no way he saw it
But we all know Mourinho thinks that there should be one rule for Chelsea and one for everyone else.
You mean there isn't?

Wow even when I wrote this I didn't realise HOW BAD Birmingham are. Not saying Liverpool didn't deserve to rip them to shreds but come on. No Premiership team should ever get beat by another one 7-0 never mind at home. Makes me embarassed and I don't even give a flying shit about Birmingham and want them to go down. Fucking hell so bad.
Cactus Sid
03-21-2006, 06:13 PM
To be fair, all of our goals tonight could have been avoided by better teams.
Crouch's first and Cisse's should've been kept out, and I'm sure Taylor's positioning was off for Riise's goal.
The marking was non-existent for Hyypia's goals, and they just left HUGE gaps for the Morientes goal and Crouchie's second. Plus the own goal.
Liverpool played well, and cut them apart, but I think it was more a case of Birmingham being pure shit, than Liverpool being that great. I'm pleased with the result, and with the strikers scoring, there are a lot of positives to take from the game, but Liverpool fans shouldn't forget that we just beat, in my opinion, the worst team in the league. Even Sunderland don't capitulate like that.
packt up
03-21-2006, 06:50 PM
I can't really see how you can call Birmingham worse than Sunderland. Sunderland haven't won at home all season and are on course for not only the lowest points total in Premiership history but I think in English footballing history. HOWEVER, recently Birmingham have been playing worse. Just terrible terrible football which would make me feel sick if I ever was unfortunate enough to be a Birmingham fan and paid to see a game.
Mr. Monday Morning
03-21-2006, 06:53 PM
Sunderland, for all their faults, have not fallen apart like that at all this season, which in a way is credit to McCarthy (in a backhanded sort of way). They're a worse team, but in a way Birmingham should be far more ashamed because they have much better players and have performed much worse.
Birmingham are bad but they have played some decent stuff this season at times. Sunderland are total mince. It's not even a comparison.
packt up
03-21-2006, 08:10 PM
Good point about the better players MMM. They have been playing so shit I even forgot that there are some half decent players at Birmingham. The only reason I want Birmingham to stay up is because they want to sign Nicky Butt. If anyone else wants him I'd be amazed. Otherwise they don't deserve to stay up and they almost certainly won't.
Karlsberg
03-21-2006, 08:17 PM
Yes we were shite tonight and have been for most of the season and the chances of us staying up are slim at best but we are by no means worse than sunderland, sorry Mackem.
Just out of curiosity packt up why are you so desperate to see us go down.
packt up
03-21-2006, 08:21 PM
I wouldn't say desperate :p. I just hate it when big teams are down there really. I actually really like Bruce and think he's an alright bloke but his management this season has been terrible. I dunno what it is in me but if a good team is doing shit I want them to suffer for it. It was the same with Leeds I just wanted them to get there come uppance or whatever. Rooting for the underdog and all that. I don't think you can deny that Birmingham should be doing better than WBA, Portsmouth or even teams like Fulham for example.

Karlsberg
03-21-2006, 08:35 PM
I agree I think we should be doing better than the teams you mentioned but sadly for me we aint and we have no one to blame but ourselves. Some of Bruce's decisions this season have been very bad for example playing 17 year old Marcos Painter at left back and Clapham in midfield when he could have easily paid Clapham at left back and Lazaridis in midfield.
Of the three of us down there I think Pompey will be the ones to get out of it.
packt up
03-21-2006, 08:45 PM
Yeah that decision confused me too. Lazaridis has even played at left back quite a few times if I'm not mistaken?? Painter looked very edgy against Gerrard who of course is absolutely world class. I always remembered Clapham as more of a left back and Lazaridis as a midfielder but I know they can play at both positions.
Today I was almost certain you would lose before kick off and then after 55 seconds it was literally all over. I used to think Pompey were destined for the drop but lately its all been going there way and the other teams have seriously hard run-ins. So I think they will stay up too.
Karlsberg
03-21-2006, 09:01 PM
Yeah Lazaridis has played at left back a few times but was not all that convincing.
As we are in agreement about the teams that are going down who do you think will replace us, obviously Reading are a certainty.

If I was playing those "players" that kind of money I'd be fucking pissed if they played that poorly. I dunno, I mean, I think he has a fair point, the papers talk bollocks a lot, but they need something to go on, and it seems as though Defoe was touted to clubs, and we probably did the same with Cisse, hence Rafa has come out with this.

He didn't bait his own fans at all.
But he is still a dick. Funny how we didn't see half the Chelsea team surround the ref about a handball yesterday too.
Never thought in a million years I'd be saying a game between Boro and Bolton was blinding. The ref (again) was a disgrace. How the fuck Pogatetz didn't get a free kick after being elbowed in the face is baffling. Davies not getting a red card was shocking. I'm only suprised Pogatetz never took him in the tunnel and stamped on his throat. Van Der Mayde got sent off for less yesterday.
Can't wait for Allardyce's excuses too. He always has something to moan about. He is just as bitter as Mourinho.

Fucking excellent game, wasn't expecting anything from it, and as you say it was a blinder.
Remember when Pogatetz was almost banned for a year for breaking that guys leg......I was just waiting for him to do it to Davies.....I'd be lying if I said I wasn't egging him on at home.
As for yesterday. Gerrard was a complete tit. You don't go in for a stupid lunge after being booked for kicking the ball away 30 seconds earlier. He was just asking for it, and the ref made the right decision. On the other hand, it gave us the kick up the arse we needed.
What can I say about the game.....we beat Everton 3-1 and Phil Neville scores an own goal.....fantastic.
Oh and Xabi Alonso..... world class.

Saw the same Liverpool/Everton game as Boondock, Liverpool was up by 1 and Everton played like a complete douche and looked like they just wanted to go hom towards the end, then some Liverpool guy made a pretty "sick" shot towards the end, and Liverpool won by 2.
Just a thought but how much do average players get paid?
For example, in baseball, A-rod is the highest paid player and he is tyaking in around 25 mill a year, 252 mill over all. An average player gets a few million a year. Other "American" sports have salary caps and stuff, but it is still a few mill for an "average" player
Yeah so how much do these guys get
Mr. Monday Morning
03-26-2006, 03:04 PM
The very best players are on roughly £100k/week, so that's what - £5m a year roughly. About $7.5m, say. Below that it varies, players in the top leagues probably average about £20-40k a week, so about $1-2m. They can make more with endorsements etc but only very elite guys make enough off that for it to even enter consideration.
David Beckham probably makes about $15m a year (there were pretty official figures somewhere I think) - that's wages plus a ton of endorsements and he keeps a percentage of all his merchandise sales.

On the Kewell/Liverpool thing
A lot of Liverpool fans will never forgive him for being such a pussy in the biggest match the club had been in for 20 years, to go with the fact that up until this season he had been utter shite week in week out. Being paid 50 grand a week to ponce around doing nothing, losing the ball, showing no passion and then basically not wanting to play in the biggest club game in the world is gonna make the fans hate him.....hell I hate him
On the other hand, the lad is trying his best to turn the fans around. Couple of cracking goals, playing the left winger we signed him for, and seemingly putting in a 110% each week. If he keeps it up, the fans will love him the way we did when we signed him.
I also can't be fucked hearing the Greeks saying "fuck this country I hate it and wish I could go back to Greece even though I've never been in my whole life and don't realise how much better I am off here in Australia"

So he starts having a kick about with these kids in this park. And the park is built on the site of a former factory. Anyway, then Drogba being the gigantic cunt that he is starts diving in this kick about with kids. But he ends up diving and falling on a piece of lead which is sticking out of the ground that is left from the factory. And he gets heavy metal poisoning and dies as a result. Nowt wrong with Liverpool
These days we have 3 main rivals, none of which you should support.
You've got our biggest rivals, being Manchester United, long running northern thing between the two biggest clubs in the north of England and the 2 most successful clubs in the history of English football. They've pretty much had their day now, but new United fans get mocked for being a glory supporter.
Then you've got the local rivals, Everton, they also play in the city of Liverpool.... the less said about them the better. Overrated side who play crap football, not worth supporting.
Then there is Chelsea, lot of hatred between the 2 sets of fans. Chelsea manager is jealous of the Liverpool manager and so on. Chelsea are the best team in the country right now, so supporting them makes you a glory supporter, and will therefore be shunned.
Pick someone else dammit.

<font color="#ff6600">Gattuso is mental, also.
