The way Matty and Gario have been playing the past few weeks they'll rack up 4 between them. Plus Priske is probably due 1. Plus Stefanovic hasn't scored for 2 seasons, so he'll curl in a freekick. Aaaaand Deano will probably get in on the act with 1.

Oh and Mendes with a 40 yard rocket from the outside of his boot.

He then also complained that we had played against weakened teams and Arsenal didn't play Henry against us...

Wolves have confirmed Glenn Hoddle is to remain as their manager.

The former England boss failed to guide Wanderers into the Championship play-offs this season and had subsequently been linked with Charlton following the weekend announcement by Addicks boss Alan Curbishley that he would be leaving The Valley after 15 years in charge.

But following a board meeting at Molineux on Tuesday, Wolves chief executive Jez Moxey confirmed Hoddle would continue as manager but will be forced to "operate within a reduced playing budget" after the club's parachute payments ended following relegation the Premiership two seasons ago.

Moxey, who had previously fuelled speculation that Hoddle may be on his way out of Molineux by claiming the season had been a "complete disaster", said: "It's no secret that the board and Glenn are disappointed with the team's failure to secure automatic promotion or a play-off spot, especially as everyone was well aware of the likely financial restraints for next season if we didn't achieve promotion.

"That said, Glenn is a proven manager and the board feel confident that he has the skills needed to rebuild the squad over the coming season.

"During the meeting, we clearly articulated that the loss of the Premiership parachute payment means that there will be a reduced budget for next season. Glenn accepts this and is now looking at how best to shape his squad with the money available.

"We will sit down with out-of-contract players and back-room staff shortly to discuss what this means to their futures.

"This aside, a reduced budget will necessitate a re-definition of the club's approach to player acquisition and inevitably lead to more opportunities for younger players from inside and outside the club.

"Throughout this process, the club needs the support of its fans. Most clubs go through a period of rebuilding at one time or another.

"Our time is now and we need the fans to understand the realities of working within a tighter budget while sharing our optimism about the development of a younger first-team squad that will compete as hard as possible in next year's Championship."

<font color=red>ALEX FERGUSON will launch a £10million bid for Michael Carrick — and Tottenham fear their midfield star wants to leave.

Manchester United boss Fergie has targeted the Geordie playmaker as the man he wants to anchor his midfield.

And anxious Spurs are already in the market for replacements, with Carrick, 24, reluctant to open talks about a new contract at White Hart Lane.

Fergie hopes to recruit two top central midfielders this summer and wants AC Milan’s Rino Gattuso to replace Roy Keane as a ball-winner.

Mahamadou Diarra was a target, but Lyon priced him out of the market with a £28m tag.

Carrick earns £15,000 a week at Spurs and is halfway through a four-year deal. Boss Martin Jol is keen to tie him down with an improved contract but knows the player is aware of United’s interest.

If Spurs are denied a Champions League place by bitter rivals Arsenal, the odds on the England star leaving will shorten even further.

<font color=white>That could be interesting...</font>

BSkyB's monopoly on screening live Premier League football has been broken with Setanta winning two of the six packages available.

The Irish pay TV operator had been expected to win one package of 23 matches but has pulled off a shock by winning two.

It means from 2007 to 2010, BSkyB will show 92 of the live matches and Setanta 46 live games.

Rossi needs games though. When we did the treble, we have 4 top class strikers rotating and none of them complained. Yeah true. Just feel like he hasn't done a whole lot wrong this season and hasn't been playing too much. I take what you mean about the not seeing the fans though that is kind of low. Wtf at flair saying you're team is rubbish you'll be closest to Chelsea again next season.

What was Jol's pleading about?

I was more referring to the pleading that if Arsenal won the Champions League then Spurs should still get in. EVEN THOUGH the rules were specifically changed last season so that that wouldn't happen again. His appeals had no grounds whatsoever. Turns out they didn't finish 4th anyway but theyve still had a great season whatever.

I think that is our highest total in the Premiership since it went to 20 teams..... going from where we were behind Chelsea to 9 points behind in one season, a point behind United, and 2 periods in the season where we've won 10 games in a row, this has been a fantastic season, even if we have finished behind United. To take it to the last day of the season is a great achievement, and with a few signings, I really do believe we'll be up there next season.

Well as someone who has stuck up for Sven a lot in the past i can only say this:

why the fuck is Walcott going ahead of the likes of Bent? :| He may have bags of potential but christ, at least wait until he's played a premiership game. I saw him for Southampton here in November and Gerrbrand had him in his pocket pretty much the whole time, and that's a defender who's been quite poor since December. Walcott had no concept of timing his runs either.

Quite pleased Aaron Lennon is in ahead of SWP though. Carson or Kirkland should be going ahead of Green too, but i suppose that's not vital.

I reckon he'll score, but any good manager will just tell the defence and midfielders to step up and press the England midfield, they aren't gonna be able to hit 25 yarders under constant pressure, and they wont have a quick striker with good positional sense to break the offside trap (at least not 100% fit, on the ball strikers)

Also Gerrard scoring 21 is a shit arguement and you know it, TNS for fuck sake. Lampard shoots way too much, anything less then 20 goals would be a dissapointment, at one point he'd had over FOUR times as many shots as Crespo and scored two more. Think he'd had 58 shots at the time, it's about learning when to shoot, and Lampard hasn't grasped that yet, he literally shoots as often as he can, even when he knows it's got no chance of going anywhere

It all resulted in RvN telling CR to run to his Daddy (referring to Carlos Querioz). Ronaldo's Dad died this season and he apparently burst into tears and yelled "I haven't got a Dad, he's dead".

<font color=white>Apparently, United have signed a pair of twins from Brazil, 1 who plays left back, the other right back. Could be sweet. If these pair ever turned out to be good enough, surely it would be a first (twins in 1st class professional football)

Check it out here (http://home.skysports.com/list.asp?hlid=385848&CPID=8&clid=1&lid=2&title=United+snap+up+Brazilians)</font>

I was thinking exactly that, don't fucking play with a broken cheekbone if its gonna keep you from doing your job properly.

They didn't deserve to lose like that.

Of course, people were praising McLaren for going all out in the other games, and for being willing to attack when time called for it.....and now its suddenly a dreadful decision..... ah well, c'est la vie..... There's your England manager.

There's a difference from being 3-0 down with an hour to play and 1-0 down with 45 to play. He should've shuffled it no doubt but IMHO he threw too many forward too soon.

That said, the players let him down badly since half of them didn't show up. If England get in trouble someday soon (and no doubt we will) at least the guy isn't afraid to go all out for it.

Rob
05-10-2006, 05:55 PM
If they get that stone wall penalty then it's a different match.

However, Southgate played an absolute shitter. Schwarzer was a complete bottle job (and I'll keep on saying that until I'm bored now) and they don't know how the pass a fucking football. I wouldn't really blame the tactics. It was all over once the second goal went in.

Rob
05-10-2006, 05:55 PM
Okay I'll agree with Adam. They did throw players forward too soon.

Mr. Monday Morning

Maybe I wouldn't be so harsh if he hadn't stuck Maccarone on the right wing in a 4-4-2. I mean come on. That's like playing Kenny Miller on the left side of a 4-3-3 :shifty:

Seriously, that was a load of shite. The commentators were on about them being "technically better players". What the fuck does that mean? You are 5-1 down so how can you be technically better at anything.

So then, how's their group looking for the World Cup?

<font color="#ff6600">Nah, I think you can have technically very good players, as opposed to less good players who are more well organised or more up for it.

I have no idea if that was the case cos I didn't watch the game, apart from the bit at half time when I turned over from the cricket.

But they showed a few clips, including Toddy backheeling it a couple of times and flicking it on for the goal, and going on about how technically good the whole Bulgarian team is.

I dunno if thats true, but Toddy probably has the best technique out of all our strikers, where as LuaLua relies more on flashy tricks and pace.

So I know what they mean about "technically good" players.</font>
