Apparently Ian Holloway is gonna be the new Leicester manager.
Personally, I'll be glad to see the back of him at QPR. He did really well but he has taken them as far as he can and it's time for a new face.
With the results Rob Kelly's been getting, I really can't see why we can't stick with him until the end of the season. It's the first mention I've heard of Holloway, however. You've been talking to your sport-fixing "contacts" like the Royal Rumble haven't you. :shifty:
Wengerland
02-05-2006, 07:03 AM
Fuck Holloway, i'm not getting a season ticket next year if he gets the job. His QPR side play the worst football imaginable and resort to, well not play-acting, but they certainly milk any challenges.
I suppose it was just in the News of The World though, but with them getting all the big names it must be true.

Chelsea wins
Shit match Liverpool fucking idiots going with Crouch on his own he can't bloody play it on his own he needs someone with him. Reina basically begging for his red card too
Begging for a red card? As much as I hate Liverpool, that was bollocks. Robben should be banned for that play acting. Chelsea are all mouth when they think they are hard done by when he gets a justified second booking against Sunderland so how can they possibly defend that? And if Reina had to go for a straight red then so did William Gallas and probably Del Horno or Terry too.

We'll be lucky to do anything this season the way things have started going. We just can't finish, and if we dont do anything about it in the summer, we aren't gonna be any closer to Chelsea come the end of next season. 2nd is still a possibility, but we've gotta play Arsenal twice, and they'll be bang up for it against us.
I can't help but feel we should've gone with Crouch and Morientes. Granted, Crouch was abysmal, but he was causing havoc just by being there, if we'd had Nando on the pitch we might've knocked in a few of those set pieces.
As it stands, Chelsea deserved to win for the second half performance. We were always gonna get caught eventually, playing the offside, and Crespos goal was an absolute peach.
As for the Red Card.... it wont get taken away. He's raised his hands and Robben has made a complete twat of himself, but thats the way it goes in football....how many times have we seen it?
On the plus side, it gets Reina out of goal. Its amazing anyone could think he was half decent. He can't catch crosses, he drops shots from close range, he doesn't organise the defence from set-pieces and he saves all his shots with his legs. Dudek might not be great, but he's far better than Reina.

I went to the Birmingham Selfridges coincedently instead of watching the match. Their duck spring rolls sure are yummy. Heard it was pritty crap anyway. Robben looked like a dickhead but Reina is the bigger douche cos you got to expect to be sent off doing something like that.

If your thick enough to go grabbing at someones face you should go it wouldn't take a genius to think that he'll drop like a stone
Personally, I think he should have went after Robben and give him something to cry about.

Rafael Benitez has revealed his admiration for Charlton boss Alan Curbishley as the race to be the new England manager hots up.
But the Liverpool boss, whose side face Charlton at The Valley on Wednesday, is concerned that the debate over Sven-Goran Eriksson's successor could disrupt the build up to the World Cup finals.
As Benitez praised Curbishley he pointedly referred to "other managers who promoted themselves,'' a possible reference to Bolton's Sam Allardyce, a manager whose style of play Benitez has criticised in the past.
Go on Rafa

Gardening Leave...</td><td> </td><td valign="top">Holloway Relieved of Duty
By Gary Silke
Date: 6/2/2006
Speculation linking QPR boss Ian Holloway with the vacant Leicester manager's job has heightened with chairman Gianni Paladini announcing that he had been sent on 'gardening leave' with immediate effect.</td></tr></tbody></table>
Paladini told the official website: "QPR has not sacked Ian but we are concerned about recent performances and the effect the speculation about Ian joining Leicester might have on the players. I hope we can sort something out with Ian as soon as possible."
This may not be cut and dried, with Rangers fans theorising that Paladini has used the Leicester speculation to get rid of a manager he no longer wants.
City responded with the comment: "The process of finding a new manager is still taking place and we won't be commenting on speculation. There is no timescale for when we will appoint a new manager."
There will be plenty for Holloway to do in the garden at this time of year; these are the Royal Horticultural Society's recommendations:
1. Prepare vegetable seed beds, and sow some vegetables under cover
2. Chit potato tubers
3. Protect blossom on apricots, nectarines and peaches
4. Net fruit and vegetable crops to keep the birds off
5. Prune winter-flowering shrubs that have finished flowering
6. Divide bulbs such as snowdrops, and plant those that need planting 'in the green'
7. Prune Wisteria
8. Prune hardy evergreen hedges, and renovate overgrown deciduous hedges
9. Prune conservatory climbers
10. Cut back deciduous grasses left uncut over the winter.
QPR are badly in need of a change of manager anyway.

Exactly, if we're going to poach someone at least make it someone who's doing a good job and the clubs fans will actually care about him going.
I don't think we'll get him anyway, Mike Newell's having a second interview and he's the man for me. There's been a load of e-mails to the chief executive pleading against appointing Holloway, and he did say the number he got wanting Levein out made a difference in that decision.

Fucksake, Newell's turned us down.
Although when i think about it i probably went overboard on the Holloway thing, i mean he's made QPR a decent club in this league i suppose, we played hoofball under Adams but we don't have any tall strikers now anyway, so Holloway will have to be a bit dense to play too many long balls. I'll also retract about not getting a season ticket if he gets the job, because i want one anyway :$

Wondering if anyone has sent money to the Rotherham United supporters trust. In case you don't know, Rotherham are in danger of dropping out of the Football League if they don't raise £1,000,000 in a few weeks. Since I'd hate any fans to lose their team to the business side of football (something that worried me quite a bit in 2003), I thought I'd post the link here for anyone who wishes to donate to help keep the club afloat.

James Wesolowski has broken his leg again and is out for the season. :(
Not surprised someone got injured though, Brighton are a really dirty team, going in hard on better players (Hume got felled about 3 times in a few minutes without a card being shown), but dropping like flies at the nearest hint of a free kick. I really hope he's not injury prone, as we'll need him when Joey leaves. You gotta wonder how any player can come back fit from two broken legs in one season though.

Motty..... ok, Lawrenson is a Liverpool fan. He used to play for Liverpool, its to be expected. Motty just creams himself everytime Ronaldo or Rooney touches the ball. He is so past it as a commentator, the sooner he fucks off the better
I'm really interested to see what action is taken after the pie throw.... that was a really dangerous one.
As for Alan Smith, feel for the guy cos that looked nasty. Could be his leg and his ankle from the looks of things, maybe his knee as well, everything just seem to fall underneath him, that wasn't good.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson expects Alan Smith to be out for a long time after he suffered a horrific leg break against Liverpool.
Smith collapsed in agony after he tried to block a John Arne Riise free-kick in United's 1-0 defeat in the FA Cup.
A grim-faced Ferguson said: "It's one of the worst I've seen. He's broken his leg and there's a dislocation of the ankle joint.
"It's a very long-term injury - we're all behind him as he's a brave lad." <!-- E SF -->The game was delayed by five minutes as Smith received treatment and he needed oxygen as he was stretchered off.
United's medical team were given help by Liverpool club doctor Mark Waller as the midfielder waited to be carried off.
Ferguson added: "I wasn't aware of what had happened because I was following the path of the ball, but you saw the reaction of the players round about Alan and you knew it was a bad one.
"It is another bad blow for us and it sums up our season."
Ferguson's counterpart Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez was quick to offer his sympathy to Smith. "We're all so sorry and we can only wish him all the best for the future."<!-- E BO -->

What a result for my former boys. 0-1 in the Bernabeu.
I couldn't sleep, so I decided to watch this game. For the life of me, I can't remember Reyes ever having so much pace. It's hard to pick a player who had a bad game today; Henry, Fabregas and Ljungberg shone, Gilberto made an absolute nuisance of himself despite touching the ball about twice, Lehmann was huge and never looked like being beaten, Eboue was great, too.
I was worried about a snorefest when I saw the 4-5-1, but Arsenal imposed themselves right from the word go.
Real's defence looked very awkward at times, and again only made it harder for themselves by constantly being caught forward and giving the ball away in dangerous positions.
Arsenal's defence looked shaky at times too, especially to the long ball to Beckham they dealt with a few times, but it didn't cost them so credit for that.
Fair play to the Arse. They did very well and I totally didn't expect them to play this well.
Liverpool = :rofl:
Well anyone can play that well against a rubbish defense like Real's especially as Woodgate was injured. I've seen them when Woodgate plays fit (not that often) and they are much more solid and don't look confused all the time.
How many British players did Arsenal have on the team again? Oh yeah NONE. Real had more that were injured. Talk about a Rest of the World vs Rest of the World match.

The Arse were amazing from what I heard (divided pub) but we were just shite, I don't care the spin everyone is putting on it, we did NOTHING.
We spent the first half hoofing the ball up to nothing and creating NO chances what so ever. Second half we got into the positions, but then smacked crosses straight at the keeper. At least when Cisse came on we looked sort of threatening, but that was nothing. We needed Gerrard for the spark. When Sissoko went off we were in real trouble. Hamann is a great player, but he slows the game down way too much and we needed tempo.
We are gonna struggle in the second leg. We're gonna need Crouch to play to try and take Luisao out of the game and drop Luis Garcia, because he was utter shite.

who cares how many british players we had - for a start we are an english club so we have no reason to play scottish welsh and irish players any more than celtic, rhyl or cork have to pick english ones. secondly we aren't there to forward the cause of the england national team. we are there to do the best for arsenal. if in doing that we can help the england team then fine but we don't owe them anything. the fact of the matter is that when on form we have 2 england regulars playing for us and have just signed probably the most promising youngster since rooney. most of the rest of the english players that have been around the club for the last 5/6 years have simply not been good enough to make the grade

Sorry but Matt Upson became an England international when he left. Jermaine Pennant and Jerome Thomas could have done something too but they weren't given oppotunities to prove themselves. Stuart Taylor wasn't doing too bad either before he got sold. The only English players who definately couldn't cut the mustard were Richard Wright and Francis Jeffers. Arsenal and England full-back Ashley Cole has launched 'unusual' legal proceedings against The News of the World and The Sun over claims that two unnamed footballers were involved in a 'gay sex orgy'.
Although Cole was not named in any of their articles, he is essentially suing News Group Newspapers over the newspapers' 'wink-wink' insinuations which prompted various websites to speculate that he was one of the players involved.
'Legal experts view the case as an important step in taking the temperature of libel and privacy law in cases where the aggrieved parties are not named but the public is able to build up a "jigsaw" identification via tabloid hints that spark gossip via email, blogs and chatrooms,' reports The Guardian.
'They said the privacy part of the claim was "unique" because it relied on an untested concept known as "false privacy" - even though Cole says he is not gay, he will argue his privacy has been invaded.'
The original story was published in The News of the World last month and claimed that 'two bisexual stars made some very dirty phone calls - using a mobile as a gay sex toy'. Although the NoTW didn't have a copy of the recording of the alleged incident, it said a reporter had seen it.
'The tongue-in-cheek treatment continued in the News International stablemate the Sun, which later alluded to the story in the caption on a paparazzi snap of the footballer out on the town with his pop star fiancee, Cheryl Tweedy, prompting a letter to newspaper editors by Cole's solicitors. At no stage did either newspaper name the footballer or explicitly use his picture, making the libel claim unusual. But legal sources believed he could have a strong case none the less,' adds The Guardian.
'In cyberspace several sites published the picture used by the News of the World to accompany its second story and suggested it was a crudely doctored version of a snap of Cole and a dance music DJ taken from the website of a radio station, Choice FM. The gay website Pink News featured a juxtaposition of the picture used in the tabloid and the alleged original, suggesting they were the same shot doctored by the paper.'

JOEY GUDJONSSON FROM THE FUCKING HALFWAY LINE
Ferguson put faith in Paul Scholes (who I think is past it anyway) and he might even have to retire now. We need Ballack.
Yep, he's shown far too much loyalty to Scholes. Ballack or Riquelme would do me, preferably Ballack since he wouldn't cost anything.

He deserved the sack after the first month into the Premiership. He is hopeless. His transfers sucked. With the possible exception of Arca and Elliott who might get into maybe one or two other teams at a stretch, they have zero players who have enough quality to play in this league.

No doubt his transfers sucked. However I'm presuming no amount of bad managing results in a defender doing that shit that we saw on Sunday or making Gary Breen such a dickhead. Sunderland's season has been littered with fucking idiot things which the players have to take the blame for.

Sunderland have always been competitive in their matches and haven't been humiliated by anyone. Mick had them punching above their weight. His hands were obviously tied in the transfer market but he built a team capable of competing in the Championship, which is Sunderland's level at the moment.
Sunderland don't have the financial clout of even Wigan or West Ham. Mick was doing a fine job in difficult circumstances and his sacking is fairly senseless at this point.
