To be fair, he injured himself by trying to foul Haaland in the first place. It was his own fault.
I now officially want Gattuso and Cahill as our midfield signings this season.
Hamburg have signed Vincent Kompany for £5.1m. So now that's Kompany, Van Der Vaart and Nigel De Jong for less than £10m in the same amount of time it took United to spend £12m on Nemanja and Patrice Evra.
:-\
Rob Ban Fan
06-13-2006, 02:45 PM
Vidic is the man.
Vidic is quality. In no way is Kompany in his league. And we could have had De Jong at the snap of a finger if we wanted. Van Der Vaart ended up in Germany because the big clubs in Europe wouldn't gamble on him.
I'm not disputing the fact that Vidic is quality (shoulda really left him and Kompany out).
My main gripe is £5m on Patrice Evra (who, now Gabby's back, is gonna do fuck all then leave, most likely for about £2m to someone like Lyon or Marseille) when, for that we could have had Nigel De Jong (younger, more versatile, big potential) and Rafael Van Der Vaart (who I think would probably have played quite a bit towards the latter stages of the seaon, injury barring)
For as long I've been a United fan, I've just never been all that impressed with the way we go about transfers
And we've just sold Jon Spector for £500k. I could never really see him breaking through but he's not a bad player so West Ham may have done alright there
I think Evra is gonna end up playing left midfield. Who do you want to come in over the summer?
Gattuso for sure but I just can't see it happening. If Ruud does go, then a world class striker. Only problem is, there aren't too many who may be available and are good enough. Fernando Torres would be nice but I can't see us spending £20m on 1 player. I hope I'm wrong though.

Now that I have digital cable in my place, I can start watching FSC again.
With the new Premier League season starting soon, I'm looking for a team to root for (since FSC shows pretty much every match). It's too easy to pick up and root for Man U or Arsenal so I need to learn more about the up-and-coming middle of the league teams that could make some noise in the next few years.
I already have the Chicago Fire to root on and, being 20 mins from the new stadium, go and cheer on in person.
In FIFA '06, I've been playing as Man City, West Ham, or Fulham and I wonder how good they are in real life.
So I'm asking my friends from across the pond to help a US Hooligan out.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm not doing this so I can be "OMG I'VE BEEN A FAN FOREVER. THIS RULEZZZ!" I just want to find a good team that I can become a fan of so I can have even more interest in their matches.

Kenton's a bit of a strange one but if we can offload Gerrbrand for a decent fee then it's a bit of money to play with and a replacement who's more suited to this league. Wolfsburg were interested before we got him and they've proved their idiocy by loaning out D'Alessandro, maybe they'll take him.

WOW. I spent much of yesterday on Wikipedia studying how the English Football system works and the various cups etc. I had no idea that there were 21 levels of leagues! What does level 21 consist of? Because you would have to assume that even just an average adult league would be able to get higher than that!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/English_football_league_system
There are SOOO many leagues, all of which must at least have eight or so teams right? So does the whole country play at some level basically?
Nope. That's what is even better about it. Obviously you have guys like me who would pay to play this wonderful wonderful sport.
And you have people like my mate Paul "Biggles" Tomkins who didn't show up for football tonight because a friend of his girlfriend had tickets for a play. His email address will be posted later for all to express opinions at this man who tonight took a massive leap into the world of homosexuality.

Aurelio, Gonzalez and Bellamy are all good players, but they aren't great players. We need to show some intent and bring in someone who is going to get us 20-30 goals a season, that's going to be the differance between finishing in the Champions League places and challenging for the title.
Simple facts, until we start to bring in World Class players, we aren't going to win the title, as much as I want to believe we're capable of doing it.

Now all we need is to not re-sign Kennedy, ship out some of the other dead wood, and bring in some young but talented players. If nothing else, at least it will give the Italian league a different feel for a while. Juventus and AC Milan have dominated for a while now, but outside of Inter and Roma there is plenty of room for a smaller club to step up. That is something I wish there was more of, it seems like every major league has the same five teams on top every single year.

You just know he wants to fuck off to Spain anyway, it would be a better fit for him. I can see him going to Real, since Barcelona actually have decent players that he wouldn't have a chance to take the place of, and since Zidane (http://zidaneowned.ytmnd.com/) retired :o

I heard Juventus accepted a relegation to Serie B? Don't they want to move all four teams down, and Juventus all the way down to Serie C? If nothing else, at least it will give the Italian league a different feel for a while. Juventus and AC Milan have dominated for a while now, but outside of Inter and Roma there is plenty of room for a smaller club to step up. That is something I wish there was more of, it seems like every major league has the same five teams on top every single year.
It does, that's one thing I hate about the game. I don't think it would take too long for Juve to get back up, either.

Oh wow, once you play Winning Eleven you can't go back to FIFA. The only thing that FIFA has is the rights to all of the leagues, but Winning Eleven has the who La Liga and Serie A and I think the Dutch league too. Some of the bigger teams are on there as well, like Chelsea.

It's actually the gAy-League, and they don't like ethnics. Y2C is their number 1 fan.
Perth Glory are ok though.
Fucking hell, I spenmt all last season moaning about how much Lampard shoots, he seriously is the most greedy cunt ever, and Ballack isn't much better, he always fucking shoots and is more of an embarrassment at diving then any of our players.
FUCK OFF YOU KRAUT.
Huuuuuuuth, I hope the deal if definitely off, FUCKING STAY YOU KRAUT.
Man I'm so glad that when I wanted to take Rob Harvey up on his Lampard wont score bet that he didnt respond to it. Really thought that the selfish cunt would score at least once, you lot get to see it a few games a season, I see it every fucking game.
What a goal by Joey Cole though

Downunder, mark my words on this - South will be in the gAy-League within a few years, perhaps looking slightly different, but they will be there. They will also have a South Melbourne FC in the Victorian Premier League, meaning there will be football all year round at Lakeside and which also means the promising lads in the State League team get promoted straight to the gAy-League side without other gAy-League twats only spending max $3000 on a transfer for them (those are the max these state league teams can get even if they've developed a player from their childhood years.   )
How do I know this? Let's just say that once you flash some cash in front of a Jew, he can't say no to your demands. :D
But yeah can't wait to play the Glory again.
So O'Leary has gone! That's one annoyance taken care of!
As a Villa fan I have a lot on my plate at the moment...
Of course the fear of keping DOL on board has been erradicated but I must address it...It I actually liked DOL and was happy when he joined us. His assertion that he was not a "cheque book" manager seemed to work for him in his first season at the helm (6th place finish) but then it all went downhill...and the excuses came...the "small squad", "the injuries", "the unlucky conceding of a goal" and to top it the "not enough investment/funds". What a way to prove you don't need huge amounts of money to suceed! All in all I'm glad he's gone.
Now people will call for the head of Ellis (to which I totally agree) blaming him for said lack of funds. Once again I totally agree with this assertion BUT a manager should be able to get the best out of any set of players and thats something O'Leary never did. This is why I'm hoping for Alan Curbishly...a man that worked wonders at Charlton with a reletively small squad, a lack of huge funds and only a mildly talented squad!
If we can't afford to invest, we need to get the best out of the players that we already have. One of Villa's best pluses is our academy and abundance of young talent coming through, so lets use it!
So aside from the poor finish of last season, the fear of relegation this season, the club in a mess before the start of season, the search for a new manager, getting rid of Ellis...what else is bugging me?
THE SHIRT!
The kit looks shit this season. I didn't think it could get much worse that DWS Investments which looked like we had COWS written across our chests, but, I was wrong.
When I heard that our new sponsor was a company called 32Red.com I looked them up and found that there company consignia was pretty decent.
So imagine my dissapointment when I saw the kits with 32RED.com blazened in block capitals like this...
http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/4301/63000104bqp6.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
I know this is of little concern, but I am going to have to wear this shirt! It looks cheap, it looks basic, it looks...well...it doesn't look premiership!
This is how I imagined the shirt to look...
http://img507.imageshack.us/img507/245/propervillakituk7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
a lot better I'm sure you will agree!
I think it's a case that given all the other shit at Villa, I don't even get to look good through it!:nono:
Meh, the new shirt doesn't look too bad although the proper 32Red logo does look way better. And as for 'It doesn't look premiership', you may not have to worry about that for much longer... :p
P.S the 06-07 Football thread is here (http://www.tpww.net/forums/showthread.php?t=48063)
yeah i noticed that as soon as i post
