I'm sorry to say it but yeah :$ As a central midfield player anyway. He can't pass and for someone of his size is poor in the air and in tackles. He ws okay at centre back against Crewe, but Crewe are terrible.
Mind you, his replacement by the end of the month should be James Wesolowski, who's another Aussie ;)

BBC Sport understands Southampton have rejected a formal £12m offer from Arsenal for striker Theo Walcott.
It is understood Chelsea could be willing to pay up to £15m, but the 16-year-old has made it clear he would prefer a move to the Gunners.
Earlier, Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had let slip that a deal was almost done.
When talking to journalists, he referred to new arrivals Emmanuel Abedayor and Abo Diaby, saying he had "two signings, sorry, two and a half."
Asked if he was referring to Walcott, the Arsenal manager said: "I would like to tell you."
Earlier in the week, Wenger confirmed he was an admirer of Walcott's precocious talent.
"He's a player we rate," said Wenger.
"I rate him personally and we are looking at him, yes.
"Ideally we would want Theo to join us straight away. But it would not be a deal-breaker if Southampton say they want him to finish the season there."
Southampton boss George Burley said he was in the dark about Walcott's future, but said he would love to hold on to the youngster.
"I don't know what will happen tomorrow," said Burley.
"I won't guarantee anything, but as far as I'm aware, nothing has changed. We're planning ahead with Theo at the club.
"He's done very well for us and we want to keep him for as long as possible.
"He's a fantastic talent. When you've got a talent like that there is always going to be speculation but the kid handles it well - he's experienced it for the past six months."
Southampton are reported to be interested in a deal in which Walcott would be signed by Arsenal and then immediately loaned back to them for the rest of the season.
Saints chairman Rupert Lowe is known to have been at Arsenal's training ground last week, but he has said he was not there to discuss Walcott.
Lowe has also said he would like to retain Walcott.
Walcott, who has a pre-contract agreement with the Saints to sign a professional contract on his 17th birthday in March, has scored five goals in 12 starts for Southampton this season.

Ogen...I have been getting into fights with cunts who have jumped ship here when their club has been "demoted" from the national league into the state league, and instead joined up on supporting the new franchise made in this city, which takes the old club's spot in the national league.
I agree with you. You have 1 club and you stick to it, no matter what the consequences and/or how shithouse they may be. For that I have to admire The Mackem for putting up what he has to put up with at Sunderland. :D

what's your point? I could understand what you're saying if I was going the other way (boro fan to arsenal fan). I had no real 'connection' with arsenal, if you will. Congratulations to Chelsea for winning the title, we already knew they had, but today has confirmed it.
I am so fucking gutted right now, better side over the 90 minutes, and because of a new signing doing fuck all when he should've been supporting Finnan and the worst striker in the premiership, we get beaten.
So Pissed off. At least we've got those games in hand.
In all seriousness, I don't think you were the better side of the 90 mins at all. You probably had the more chances in front of goal but I didn't feel at all nervous that you would score and that we would not win this game. We didn't look strong in midfield at all but our defense was pretty solid. Brown and Ferdinand were absolute rocks. I think if he had some experience in the midfield we would have mullered you. I pray that we have a Diop, a Gattuso or a Ballack next season.

Gary Neville is charged with misconduct by the FA. That's fucking bollocks. They should have charged Jamie Carragher for being a trampy looking crybaby bastard while they were at it.
Cactus Sid
01-26-2006, 09:19 AM
I'm not in favour of them charging Neville. I can see why they have (I'm guessing they felt there was an intent to incite the crowd, which is potentially dangerous) but at the end of the day, he was just celebrating a goal. I know he's a cunt, half the United fans know he's a cunt and the majority of the country know he's a cunt. So it might as well be left at that.
Exactly. I love this "inciting the crowd" nonsense too. How fucking mental to they think people are? Even Arsenal's dickhead stewards stopped Dave Whelan (who is like 87 years old) celebrating with the Wigan fans on Tuesday night. I'm surprised they didn't get him arrested when he was shaking the handicap fan's hand after that.
Football is emotion. Good or bad. If you don't like it then fuck off.

This whole Di Canio thing pisses me off as well, but thats more for a political reason. Celebrating is part of the game and as long as it doesn't go too over the top (if your diving into the crowd, it is potentially pretty dangerous or going close up and yelling abuse at the opposing fans I would see grounds for it) but in the case of Neville he did neither really, he was well away from the fans and didn't hurl abuse at them, and the Whelan thing was a joke.
Things which are dangerous should be stopped, things which are pure emotion like Neville, Whelan or Robben the other day.... the FA needs to give leeway.
Makes you laugh when they are so petty for stuff like celebrating goals or talking about referees and yet Lord Sven gets treated like an absolute God even though my Granny could have done just as good a job with the England team with those players. Actually that's a lie. She wouldn't have lost a bunch of friendlies or a world cup qualifier to Northern Ireland.

Di Canio is making facist salutes to a bunch of vile, racist cunts (Lazio supporters). The whole lot of them should be banned from a football stadium, they give it a bad name. Facist salutes have no place on a football pitch. Football and politics are seperate and should be kept so.
Cactus Sid
01-26-2006, 01:32 PM
Its down to the authorities and the club to get rid of the racist fans in the stadium and prevent them from getting in.
I don't see why players shouldn't be allowed to bring politics into the game, it is rife everywhere else in society, why not football? (or sport in general)
El Capitano Gatisto
01-26-2006, 02:06 PM
Because they've no right to use a stage they've been given because of footballing talent to make a political statement, particularly a statement that stands for hatred and intolerance and appeals to a troubling hooligan element that stalks football.
If they want to make political statements they can do it in their own time, on their own terms, not on a stage for sport.
Ultras are a huge, huge problem and they could really fuck up this year's World Cup if the fascist wankers from all over Europe congregate to hi-jack the ultimate footballing stage. They've no place in football. Di Canio should be banned for life for encouraging them after all the trouble they've brought and all the misery they cause to minority players all over Europe.
He didn't do it in England, because he'd rightfully be villified and probably imprisoned.
I agree that is has no place in football. It doesn't have a place in other areas of entertainment either. Part of the reason I fucking hate Chris Martin and Bono.

No, if a footballer wants to use his fame to go and be a politician or lobbiest elsewhere, fine.
If an artist wishes to use their own work and their own stage as a platform for their views, that is their perogative too. Artists are partly there to express their opinions through their chosen medium. You can pay to hear/see/listen to them, you don't have to.
A football pitch is for playing football on, not for sending political messages or making politically-sensitive gestures. They're being paid to play football and making political statements on the pitch is an abuse of their position.
So if I'm watching say a talk show on the Beeb that makes it ok for a musician to mouth off about politics and I should grin and bare it?
El Capitano Gatisto
01-27-2006, 07:50 AM
Yeah, if an artist is asked about political views then they obviously have a right to give them, especially if it applies to their work. Same as a footballer on a chat show can talk about politics if he's asked.
An artist's career is based on expression.
El Capitano Gatisto

Blind optimism time - We'll fuck Italy and Ukraine! Might give France a draw :D I wanted England though.

Ukraine, Italy and France will take points off each other and I'll bet my life that we will beat at least one of them (and I'd fancy our chances at home getting points off all of them). Obviously we are outsiders but that's how we like it. Avoiding a winter trip to Kiev would be nice too. Slim possibility for second place but it's more of a chance than it looks on the surface.

As long as we can do it at Hampden (and we know we can) we have a chance.....its a long shot, but we don't have a really talented "lower ranked side" to be a real banana skin. We've beaten Lithuania before, and Georgia and the Faroes wont be a problem with the squad the way it is now. We could take a point in France, Italy or the Ukraine (and but for 2 pieces of magic, an injured keeper for one of the goals and Kenny Miller having a bit of a shocker, we could've got a point in Italy)..... who knows. At the end of the day, no is expecting us to go through, so we've got nothing to lose and everything to play for.

I'd expect Italy and France to go through quite easily, with Ukraine coming in 3rd, but all of those teams could look very different by the time this qualifying series starts.
Happy with Irelands group obviously getting the Germans is a kick but it could have been far worse than the Czechs and Slovakia are a nice 3rd seed to have. Czechs seem to be fairly stagnant at the moment and Nedved is gone. We've a good chance of getting second there and at least theres no bastard play offs to fuck us over this time.
On Fowler delighted to see him go back always been one of my favourite players natural instinct for goals. Him and Redknapp should both have been so much more than they were/

Can somebody explain the nature of a free transfer to me?
Free transfers happen when a player leaves a club at the end of his contract. Basically, the club he's going to doesn't have to negotiate a fee with the club he's leaving, it's called the Bosman rule or something. A lot of players use it as a bargaining tool to get a better deal at their current club a year or six months before their contract runs out to try and squeeze some more cash out of their club, because the club knows that if they don't resign the player then and there he's free to choose whatever club and they don't get a cent for it.

Weren't Leeds still paying like £10,000 a week of his contract until the end of this season? That'd explain why City now want rid. It'd also explain (along with many other ridiculus decisions) why Leeds went down the shitter.
The Faroe Islands and Georgia away will be two tough matches. Certainly don't fancy Scotland in either of them to be looking at an assured victory.

We have a manager now in Walter Smith who just will not accept not winning in Georgia or the Faroes. Brown and Vogts were too up their own arse and totally unable to motivate average players. Smith has made the likes of Kenny Miller look 10 times better than he actually is (fair play to Glenn Hoddle to with him though).
I very seriously see Scotland getting at least 5 or 6 points from the 12 available against France, Italy and the Ukraine so it come down to how they do against each other. Hopefully France or Italy will fuck everyone and leave 2nd place wide open.

Don't get me wrong, Scotland should win those matches but they certainly won't be easy. It's a cliche, but there are no easy away games in international football anymore. Even horrible teams can put up a bit of a scrap on their home turf. Scotland should have enough to do it, but they don't have any genuinely class players, really, in the event that things are getting bogged down.
France could be a very different side by the time qualifying comes around. Thuram, Zidane and Makelele will be gone again, so they could be thrown into disarray as they were in the WC qualifying where they were absolutely stinking for most of it.
We need to place France within the first 2 games to have any chance. They have always been slow starts and they will be rebuilding. Mind you, they are still full of quality.

Andres D'Alessandro has told skysports.com about his delight at his impending move to Portsmouth.
Skysports.com revealed on Monday that Pompey had beaten a host of top European clubs to the signature of the Argentine, who is currently with Wolfsburg.
The details of the transfer have yet to be finalised, but he is expected to join on loan until the end of the season and then will join the club permanently - if Pompey win their battle to avoid relegation.
"I am very excited," D'Alessandro told skysports.com.
"I am very happy to know that I am wanted in England and to play for Portsmouth is a great opportunity.
"I am very pleased that this move is happening.
"I know Harry Redknapp is a great man and I am looking forward to working with him."
D'Alessandro has already agreed personal terms and he will complete a medical on Tuesday morning before sealing his move, providing there are no last minute hitches with final talks between Pompey and Wolfsburg - although no problems are foreseen.
The deal is a major coup for Pompey and will be their ninth of the transfer window, although skysports.com understand that D'Alessandro may not be the last incoming transfer with another striker on the list of potential targets.

D'Alessandro has had problems with Wolfdburg. He has been trying to leave for a while but he needed a European passport to get a move (no work permit in Britain and wouldn't be an overseas player in Spain or Italy). This is probably the start of his move out of Germany. West Ham and Man U wanted him bad like 3 years ago.

Mikel looks a very, very good player, looks like exactly what Manchester United need in their midfield.
I think the feeling is that his agents are dodgey as fuck and have twisted his arm somehow, and that United believe if they just get him over there and talk to him, he'll be happy enough. He was clearly very happy at the press conference when he signed. He looked happy, he sounded happy. It was afterwards when Chelsea were reported as "furious" to have missed out on him and 2 weeks later when death threats were reported that the trouble started.
Fuck him. If you need to think about playing for Manchester United then you aren't the kind of player we want. I haven't seen a lot of him but reports are he is awesome. Still, I'd rather have players who will bust their arse for us. And in saying that, Darren Fletcher and Wes Brown have been fucking awesome recently.
El Capitano Gatisto

What I am saying is that his agents have exerted undue pressure on the kid, and Manchester United feel he does still actually want to play for them and they would find this out if they could get him to Manchester away from his advisors.
Nigeria is just a notoriously dodgy place, so chances are his and his family's lives have been put under pressure so the deal the agents want can do through.
Manchester United dealt with a British agent who has a valid contract with Mikel to represent him, but these other characters, like John Shittu, claim to be Mikel's representatives instead and they are probably in the employ of Chelsea to push a deal through. Shittu won't let it go because he stands to make a lot of money on a transfer to Chelsea.

Apparently we've brought in Jamie Redknapp as a coach.</font>
For God's sakes get him off TV
D'Alessandro has had problems with Wolfdburg. He has been trying to leave for a while but he needed a European passport to get a move (no work permit in Britain and wouldn't be an overseas player in Spain or Italy). This is probably the start of his move out of Germany. West Ham and Man U wanted him bad like 3 years ago.
I seriously want to know who makes more than 30k at Man City. No way is Barton worth that. I don't even think Cristiano Ronaldo makes that at Man United.
Fowler was the top earner on 35k as far as I know main part of his move to Liverpool from a City point of view. Can't see there being many more on over 30k Bartons just a fucking cunt.
Nigel Quashie went to West Brom. Thank God he's out of the Championship.
And WTF is going on with John Obi Mikel. Chelsea should either give us £10 million for him for shut the fuck up, say you have no interest in the player and let it be. I already don't want this prick in a United shirt. The dude already has Diego Forlan's shirt. Makes me sick. Forlan would have killed to wear the red shirt.
Haven't United said in the past few days that they've accepted he'll have to be sold if they get him since he doesn't want to play for them or did I read that in some bollocks like The Sun.

Apparently they just opened up a big batch of new tickets for the World Cup. I really want to go but I'd have no idea where to start. I'm sure they are also like 1 in 10,000 odds you actually get them, but damn.
You won't get a ticket unless you tout one outside the ground. And don't give a fuck but the media say, they aren't always over priced and they are easy to get.
Oh yeah, Sol Campbell is just shit. West Ham are totally giving this old cunt the roundaround here.

From what I understand the tickets are registered to the buyers name, so you wont get in the ground without ID matching the name on the ticket! This kinda makes touting difficult!

Its mind boggling really.
You're 7 points (8 when you include goal difference) from safety, you're 2-0 down, theres 20 minutes left so what do you do? Chuck all the strikers on, push everyone up and go for it? Uh nah, you take off Sean Davis and bring on Salif Diao for some reason :|</font>
