yeah noticed the other was a "preview", so I guess this is for the season.

Raiders/Pats in like 10 mins

Who is everyone betting on this weekend. I like Carolina, Cinci, Minnesota and St Louis to cover the spreads. My friend is pretty confident in New England and Denver but I don't know what to expect from Denver this season and the Pats spread is too big for me to take against a team like Oakland.

Good game so far. Oakland's run defense looks pretty solid in the first quarter and the Pats TE looks like a stud.

LOL Branch just made a big play, Oakland's secondary is awful

Yeah dude the Raiders need to shore up their pass defense, get some rush going. Dropping 8 into coverage isn't working for them, Brady will pick that apart all day long no matter which way you slice it. Gotta get some pressure and force some bad throws.

Crimson
09-08-2005, 11:02 PM
Oaklands games will be fun this year, high scoring, since their defense is crap. Or their run defense is lookin good actually tonite. Thair secondary is just young but they got talent...Stanford Routt is the best freakin name.

I'm not sure what to think about the Pats O. On one hand they looked very good. Great actually. On the other hand, the Raiders defense was horrible. 16 pentaltys . Glad to see the Raiders working on game discipline.

Randy Moss is sick. I just watched an NFL network interview with him. He seems so much more mature. He could win MVP this year.

Guess that was Warren Sapp's last game.

Raiders looked awful last night and Kerry Collins made at least 5 big mistakes that cost them fiedl position and pissibly points. Giving away damn near 160 yards in penalites doesn't exactly help either. And the Pats were the Pats. Not in mid-season form yet, but if they had been, they would've won in a romp.

I watched the first half, and I thought that it was more the case of the Raiders just being bad then the Pats being really good. You could tell that the Pats D was a little shaky, but I don't think they will have any major problems without Bruschi. The Raiders defense on the other hand, was absolutely awful. The Pats were running in and out of the secondary.

RP
09-09-2005, 04:13 PM
The second half, the Pats did what makes them the champs. They adjusted. Totally shut down the Raiders passing game and pretty much picked there way through the Raiders defense to score. Raiders just never had enough.

Randy Moss cutting back on Harrison was

Gonzo
09-09-2005, 04:33 PM
I don't think it was much the Patriots doing either, the Raiders pass defense was like swiss cheese. Moss juking out Harrison though was

I'm not sure what to make of Collins. When he's pressured. Shit hits the fan. He has no clue what to do, but if he get time to sit back there and look at the defense. He'll throw for 350yrds and 3 td's.

RP
09-09-2005, 05:50 PM
On the intentional grounding call. All he had to do was throw it past the line of scrimmage and he was good to go. Couldnt even do that.

PureHatred
09-09-2005, 06:16 PM
Also, for a guy known for the long ball, he missed Moss at least twice in the endzone, and really should've thown it higher on that depe route that Moss adjusted to. He also had a chance to throw underneath and give his team a FG attempt. Just a lot of iffy decisions; which is kind of a Kerry Collins staple.

Have a feeling a lot of Raiders fans are going to be bitter after this year.

Rodney Harrison is a dirty motherfuckin' player. Oh well, didn't expect the Raiders to win. If their O-Line gave Collins better protection, it would have been more interesting.

Gonzo
09-10-2005, 01:51 PM
Collins would rip shit up if he has time to throw. I don't know what the Raiders are doing having him roll out because he is terrible on the move, definitely not a mobile QB by any means. Collins is your cookie cutter pocket passer. Give him time and he will rip you apart but any good rush will mess him up.

Yeah but you gotta figure that they're not going to face the Pats every week. I mean they didn't play great defensively at all (compared to their usual), but they still did hot. Like totally switching their defensive scheme from 3-4 to 4-3 on the spot like that, kinda hot.

Collins is a good QB who makes dumb mistakes. Expect 300-400yd games, 2-3 TD's and 1 or 2 int's or fumbles per game.

I think Sapp should show he's a man of his word and retire.

Also, after the game Lamont Jordan said "I don't know why everyones worried about the Patriots with loss of their OC/DC, that's the same Patriot team I went up against twice a year, there still just as good".

Ben Watson looks like he'll be a monster, he's like 6'6 and fast.

Next week should be a better test vs. a team with a good defense.

I'm not saying the Ravens are some offensive juggernaught here, but our defense tonight, played like they are capable of. That was amazing. When our D puts it together, they can stop anyone. There speed might be better then anyone in the league. Gary Brackett ( WOW ) This guy is so undersized at the linebacker position , but the reason he's starting there is because he can read passing lanes and he's brilliant in zone blitz coverage. He has amazing hands too. Cato June was awesome. He's usually hit and miss, tonight he was a huge hit. Our defensive line just pretty much dominated the game. Freeney pretty much sure up his status as best DE in the game. He dominated Jonathan Ogden. Ogden was so flustared he started jumping offsides.

Couple of things that kind of pissed me off...

1) ( this didnt piss me off , but... ) Why didnt Billick run the ball more ? I didnt check the stats , but it seemed like they were passing 75% of the time. Thats retarded considering our weakness is run defense. Simon isnt fully in game shape and they could have taken advantage. That didnt make much sense at all. They basically let our speed be a factor by not running the ball. I doubt they would have had a choice but still.

2) Billeck calling timeouts with 1:20 left in the game when the Colts were trying to down the ball and finish the game. As if they would have won? That was just stupid. I sat there and said " I hope Manning just drop backs and throws the fly route to Harrison because of that shit. I didnt think it would happen because Dungy is pretty conservative about those things. Sure enough Manning dropped back and threw it to the endzone for Marvin. I wish he would have gotten it =(

Brilliant game all around for Indy. They havent beaten the best ( Pats ), but they sure look like the best.

Random Cowboys thought.

Patrick Crayton should hopefully have ridiculous year for the Cowboys, because he is going to be a stud receiver that will be covered by third/fourth string Cornerbacks. If dallas' O'line can hold up a little better in weeks to come, this offense is going to be amazing.

Ok, stop right there.

They have one of the worst QB's in the league, till he got injured, Then you geta guy who backups one of the worst QB's in the league.

I was suprised the Colts didn't do more in the first half, but impressed with the ability to change game plans at half time.

and RP - before you think I'm just trying to bring you down, I wasn't thrilled with the Pats win.

The DL looked great and the LB looked better then expected. However, Eugene Wilson had a brain cramp all game, Tyrone Poole looked like a top being spun, and OL looked good, but Dillon couldn't seem to hit the holes and while Oakland had a big DL they're probably the slowest in the league and the lack of ability to run on the outside was baffaling.

Honestly, a Carolina win next week wouldn't shock me. If they play the same they did last week.

lol shh. I never said the Giants were going to be 10-6. I said at best 8-8, hoping for that in fact. A snowball's chance in hell they even push for a wildcard. It is, after all the Cardinals. You can look back at any NFL thread and see that I've been saying this all along.

and RP - before you think I'm just trying to bring you down, I wasn't thrilled with the Pats win.

Nope just think you misunderstand me sometimes. I was talking more along the lines of Jamal lewis and the O line. Because run defense is our weakness ( hopefully was ) and usually when a team runs the ball on us, they're qb looks brilliant. No matter who it was. Last night we just disrupted everything with our speed .

I was impressed with the Pats win. I thought the whey they adjusted in the second half was amazing. Collins and Moss went from looking unstoppable to looking like shit in the second half.

Games were nuts yesterday. Still can't believe the Dallas, Miami, and Tampa Bay scores. Too early to tell anything. Dallas will not last, Bledsoe finally had a decent game. Nothing special at all just so many people expected him to fuck up and you know he eventually will just start throwing those INT's.

Dunno, I'd say SF shocked me the most, but didn't they get killed in stats but simply managed to find the endzone more? (haven't looked, thought I heard that on the radio).

Miami doesn't suprise me, they still have (a little older) that good/fast defense. They have good depth at WR and a solid TE, now they'll have probably 2 good RB's. The biggest thing that they never had was a QB, maybe they found one for now?

SF was more of a fluke I'd say.

Tampa also has a decent team, running game looks like it could be strong.

I don't care if he told Trotter his mother was a sperm burping whore who was in the locker room before the game taking it up the ass for ring dings.

He kept him out of the endzone and defended every pass to the best of his ability, despite having to do it about 12-14 times ( not sure how many ) because that was basically philly's only deep threat. Hall out played him. I used the term " Shut down" as a way to break some Eagles balls?

Eagles got fucked on that .

RP - is using quotes really that hard?

Anyway, yeah, if they win it's a regular season win and makes them 6-1? Of course, the past doesn't count twords the current season, but the "Manning can win big games", mid season? regular season? It will be a step up, but he's won some of those before, seriously, if the Colts beat the Pats in the regular season, but don't make the superbowl does that make Manning a "big game QB"?

Really, you're the guy who posted a thread about a regular season game 3months away...

If the Colts beat the Pats I'll give manning the recongition for that game, but that's it, you seem to feel if they win that game it somehow = 3 superbowl rings.

Also, as I've said, I'd like to see Manning win one at somepoint, I'd rather not see him called "Marino" all his life.

Using the superbowl as a measuring stick for big game QB's is really just plain stupid. If we use that logic then we have 2 " Big Game " QB's in the past 4 years. 1) Tom Brady ( No doubt ) 2) Brad Johnson :|

Everyone is like " Ohhhhh Manning cant win the big game " STFU. How many QB's have won the big game in the past 6 years. Brady, Johnson, Dilfer, and Warner? Wow if we are gunna judge Manning on winning the big game and knock Manning as much as he gets knocked in the media for not winning that " Big Game" then i'd hate to see what people say about the other 27 starting QB's in the league right now. Oh thats right no one says anything about them . The " Big Game " argument is so old and played out.

Manning is ( 29?) years old. He's got so much career ahead of him. Tom Brady was fucking fortunate. He's a great QB and he got placed in a greater situation and he's reaping the benifit. Manning is better and when he gets the ring. There wont be any argument about it. If you dont think so... Let me put this in perspective for you.

Tom brady has 3 rings. Brett Farve has 1. Whos the better QB when its all said and done? How much better will Manning be when he gets a ring?

This isnt even about Manning vs Brady. Its about the teams. The facts are this. Manning hasnt had a defense to make crucial stops in big games like AFC championship games. He's been forced to make shit happen on his own and 90% of his career. He's made the shit happen. He played bad snow, sleet, and shitty field conditions. Against a great defense and without the luxury of a decent defense to make plays agasint the Patriots. You wanna hang your hat on that and toot your horn. Be my guest. Hey you have the rings. You're well withing your right, but dont be knocking Peyton Manning for not winning the big game , because he lost to a overall better team. This year. I truely believe we have the better team and i'll say it here. Theres no excuses. We should go to the Superbowl reguardless of who we play and how good they are because we are better.

And yes if we beat you in the regular season or if we beat you in the playoffs or both, I will be very happy. The Patriots are the measuring stick of the league not just the Colts. Thats what comes with being the champs. Every team in the league wants to beat you. Only a couple have what it takes to beat you and the Colts are one of them. So the regular season game means alot. Maybe not to New England, but to the Colts. It could possibly mean home field advantage for when we could possibly meet the second time. No one including the Colts wants to play New England in the shit hole in December. Thats why November 7th means so much.

One game. One night to make a statement that we are better. Its not guaranteed that we see you in the playoffs. Just because this game means so much doesnt mean the ultimate goal is not the SUperbowl. If you seriously think that, then you have problems. Everyones goal is the superbowl , but also for the short term. The Colts wanna beat the Patriots and silence the critics on whos the best.

This is a Huge game for Peyton Manning and the team. Lets not single out Manning because he's the star. This is a team game.

That's about the first thing you've ever said I completely agree with. If the Colts beat the Pats it'll be because the team played better, not because Manning threw for a gazillion yards.

TO tore Deangelo up. Thanks Kevin Mathis for the win.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) -- Atlanta Falcons cornerback Kevin Mathis is out for the season after tearing up his left knee in practice.

Mathis, a nine year-veteran, is 31 and faces a long rehabilitation, raising the possibility his career could be over.

He went down on a routine drill Wednesday, two days after he was ejected from the season opener against Philadelphia before the game even started.

During the first practice for Sunday's game at Seattle, Mathis was covering a receiver down the sideline, went up to knock away a pass and came down awkwardly. He was carried off on a cart, and an MRI showed severe damage.

The team said Thursday that Mathis tore both his anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments, and also damaged the posterior capsule.

Ouch. Dunno, is that karma or something.

Anyway, I didn't read your whole thing, it's getting painful, because I don't think you're really this clueless, I just think you're thinking with your heart instead of your brain.

I will say this, it will be a team win if the Colts win, same for any nfl team, that being said what I find funny is if you look back, the Defense has done a decent job against the Patriots, it's typically been the OFFENSE that came up short or was simply "out played".

Oh, and as for the "shit hole" this ain't basketball, it's football, it's played out doors in all kinds of weather. that's why I've never understood why teams bild domes, might it help them 8games a year, sure... but come the playoffs they go outside and tend to choke. Plenty of teams have come up in the snow/rain/cold and played well, even in a loss, heck think NE is bad, try an AFC championship game in Buffallo.

Anyway, RP, we can pick this up again in November. I hope both teams stay healthy, I don't want either team to say "well, if we had". Although the Pats haven't seem to been very effected by the big injuries over the years, I think the one that would truely take them out would be Brady.

On a side note, it's funny how we talk about "the past", everyone has been asking the Pats about their "rematch" with Carolina and the Pats just kinda look at the reporter funny, on the flip side the Panthers keep talking about it. Heck the year after that SB the Pats played Carolina in pre-season and the fans had "rematch" shirts... lmfao...

Pats and Colts both have good teams, but don't count out the Falcons, Eagles, Panthers, Steelers, and many more.

Why can't there be a fellow Vikings/Colts fan on here that isn't a total spaz :(

(Apart from The Outlaw who I love very much <3)

you're funny.

You say how the Colts haven't won because of the lack of defense, yet if you look at the games it's the offense that hasn't performed well.

You say "manning is the best", yet he's won very few big games, it's like saying SD had a great team last year, they were 10-0 against bad teams and 2-4 against good teams, they had a paper record which is why they lost in the first round of the playoffs.

It hasn't been their defense that came up short in those big games, it's been their offense.

Then you think playing in NE is a "shit hole" in December, yeah the weather can be bad, but it's that way a lot of place in December. Dome teams are built for speed on a "fast track" surface and when they hit the road in the playoffs they don't do well. 1 Dome team has ever won the Superbowl, that was Saint Louis and guess what, they won the superbowl in a dome.

But of course, I'll point out stats and facts and you'll come back with a winning argument like.

you suck, and I'm rubber you're glue!

Most if it I knew or didn't suprise me, the one that did jump out at me is that Brady's career QB rating is just 4.5pts behined Manning. Manning is tied for 4th all time, Brady is 6th all time.
