JEFF SATURDAY IS GANGSTA

RP
04-01-2007, 02:42 PM
Remember when Jeff Saturday threw Vince Wilfork out of the way like he was a Cornerback?

RP

The greatest block in NFL history probably.

That wasnt a block. Infact if you notice the forarm to the helmet, that would be another penalty that wasnt called in that game.

RP
04-01-2007, 03:39 PM
This is a great video of the Saturday block in the AFC champ game. A bit grainy, but you see him making a 5 foot hole. Watch when Addai hits the line, look to the left of him and thats Saturday throwing Wilfork literally.

If I could remember the last time the Broncos beat the Colts I would be very angry

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-02-2007, 02:07 AM
Yeah, that was a nice block.

Wilson's forearm never connected with Wayne's helmet either, it was just a nice play.

I am pretty sure the Patriots and Colts will play again this year in Indy, we'll see what happens

SammyG
04-02-2007, 02:27 AM
I really hope we get Okoye at 13. Doubt he will be available though..

RP
04-02-2007, 05:06 AM
Yeah, that was a nice block.

Oh it will happen, but i'll be furious if its at New England again. Its about time they come to our place for a regular season game. I think its been like 5 years straight now?

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-02-2007, 04:58 PM
There is a certain way it is figured out with like previous schedules and records or something. I'm not totally sure how it works, but I think this year it will be in Indy

I don't think its been 5 straight years though, it might have been but I don't feel like looking it up. I just remember David Patten throwing, catching and running for a TD in Indy and it doesn't seem that long ago. Plus I think there was another game there the season after that as well

It might have been 5 straight in Foxboro including the playoffs

RP
04-02-2007, 05:08 PM
I think the David Patten game was 2001 or 02

The Saints made a big mistake letting me go. I'll lead the league in receptions this year!

That was like 3 years ago, "bro"..

I mean, we've "let go" two other good recievers since you..

MTH15
04-03-2007, 06:51 PM
What the hell?..Ok...Dude Leon Hall is a beast I'm watching him on Nfl Network right now.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-04-2007, 02:22 PM
Yeah he wasn't a beast when he went up againest NFL calibur wideouts in college. I don't care if he runs a 4.4 his speed didn't translate well when covering guys like Dwayne Jarrett and Tony Ginn Jr so I personally don't see him being much in the NFL.

MTH15
04-04-2007, 03:17 PM
I don't have to worry about that cause the falcons wont be drafting him :) hopefully landry nelson or meriwether.

SammyG
04-04-2007, 05:52 PM
I want Okoye.

MTH15
04-04-2007, 09:16 PM
Hes kinda young but hes huge

SammyG
04-05-2007, 05:00 AM
Sooooooooo much potential.

MTH15
04-05-2007, 01:13 PM
Hells yea. Is he a DE? Cause if he is I wouldn't mind the falcons trying to draft him.

SammyG
04-05-2007, 01:35 PM
DT. He's huge, and he's 19.

MTH15
04-05-2007, 01:37 PM
Well we could use a DT also. To add on with Coleman. Damnit this is making me wanna go play madden online.

Kris P Lettus
04-05-2007, 03:13 PM
Don't yall still have Kerney and Abraham??

Mr. Monday Morning
04-05-2007, 04:22 PM
Kerney bought out his contract and signed with Seattle. Abraham is banged up a lot now as well.

MTH15
04-05-2007, 07:00 PM
Yea, Kerney is gone and Abraham is banged up so we need new d lineman.

Breaking news: Pacman Jones is out for the 2007 season.. Chris Henry is out for the first 8 games..

http://nfl.com/news/story/10119161

SammyG
04-10-2007, 02:38 PM
Damn. I didn't think he'd get suspended for the whole fuckin year. Crazy. Just trying to make a statement I guess.

Kris P Lettus
04-10-2007, 03:05 PM
Yeah, today's USA Today has pictures of 50 NFL players that've been arrested since 2002 (I think).. It's talking aboput how much players conduct has changed and how Goodell should ahndle it.. I'm gonna pick it up..

SammyG
04-10-2007, 03:07 PM
Are all of them Bengals?

Kris P Lettus
04-10-2007, 03:07 PM
9 of them are, I think..

04-10-2007, 06:32 PM
Wow...well the falcons signed Joey Harrington....Maybe mike vick could play WR :?:

weather vane
04-10-2007, 06:49 PM
lol good signing

MTH15
04-10-2007, 10:03 PM
I just hope he doesn't replace Vick lol. I wanna draft Ted Ginn Jr....badly and release Allen Rossum

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-10-2007, 11:23 PM
They signed him to be the back up (Actually battle for the back up role) I don't you need to worry about Mike Vick losing his job

Also, WOW at Pacman being suspended the whole season...Has he ever even gotten arrested though? He always seems to be "around it" but never formally charged or anything. I would think other guys like Henry would be getting in more trouble.

RP
04-11-2007, 03:34 AM
He's been arrested 5 times

SammyG
04-11-2007, 04:36 AM
Schedules come out at 1ET

Mr. Monday Morning
04-11-2007, 08:17 AM
Pacman also got arrested twice last year and didn't bother to tell the team, which is really where all this has come from

MTH15
04-11-2007, 08:48 AM
Yea cant wait to see the schedule so I can see when the Falcons will OWN! the saints. We got the Colts for the first NFL Network game. We always get to face the defending Super Bowl champs. Next year if we dont win an AFC West team will win.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-11-2007, 02:05 PM

Looking over it briefly there are some very nice/interesting matchups

Chicago at San Diego week 1, I'm thinking Bears might get smoked :$
Cincinnati at Seattle and Tennessee at New Orleans, both week 3
Jets at Giants week 5
Pats at Cowboys will be interesting
Chicago at Philly week 7
Indy at Carolina week 8
Pats at Colts week 9
Indy at San Diego week 10
Denver at Chicago and Philly at Pats week 12
Seattle at Philly and Pats at Ravens week 13
Arizona at New Orleans week 15 could be insane
Ravens at Seattle week 16

wow Jags, Panthers, Pats, Chargers and Cheifs in a 5 game span. Thats pretty crazy, but i guess thats how the champs get scheduled. From Oct.22 to Dec. 2nd, if we dont have our run defense playing like they should, we could be in some serious trouble. Nice to see the Pats have to come to INDY. Sucks that we have to go to San Diego, but that could be a GOTY canidate. The San Diego game could be a season defining game.

RP
04-12-2007, 04:22 AM
How do you know how the schedule rank?

SammyG
04-12-2007, 04:24 AM
Dunno really. I know that the Rams' is the 4th easiest in the nfl, because it said so on their website.

I hope its at good as last year

RP
04-12-2007, 01:21 PM
tbh, i dont think any game will be that good for a while. That game had everything. Might be one of the greatest games ever played. Back me up steamer.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-12-2007, 01:29 PM
Yeah im surprised Colts vs Indy isn't Primetime, there is a few big games that week though if I remember correctly

I also think 2 teams having to go overseas to play is completely ridiculous..how is that fair?

RP
04-12-2007, 01:31 PM
What game is bigger then Indy vs Pats? That could potentially be two undefeateds.

RP
04-12-2007, 01:32 PM
It'll probably be one of those games that's chosen the week before to be a Sunday nighter tho.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
04-12-2007, 01:38 PM
I dunno, I thought they could only do that after week 11...Pats/Colts is week 9

RP
04-12-2007, 01:46 PM
Not sure, but if thats the case, then the NFL completely fell asleep on that one. Theres really no way that game should be played at noon or 4pm. That game is a primetime game if there is one. Why would you put the potential best regular season game of the year on a Sunday afternoon. I mean, some people might say it dont matter when its played, but it really does to me.

I disagree with that and as a fan of the Bengals for so long you could probably understand why. Usually though I just have a favorite player not on the Bengals and because of them I root for their team. For example Shaun Alexander has made me a Seahawks fan and even though it pains me to admit it I have a bit of a chub for Bob Sanders as well. :o

There's a new nike ad out with all the rookies who are signing with them and they have Amobi Okoye (DT 6'2, 302) standing next to Calvin Johnson and Johnson makes Okoye look like a kicker. Dude is so jacked it's not fair

That said. Fuck me Bill Polian is brilliant at drafting players. He's drafted Manning, Edge, Wayne, Clark, Bob Sanders, Freeney ( when everyone said he took him too high ) and countless others. All our star players have come from the draft. The only Free Agent star we have on the team is Vinny.

Indy is notorius for taking the best player available despite there needs, so its foolish to suggest that because they cant stop the run, they'll draft an inside lineman. That said, i think they might pick a WR. If Dwayne Bowe is there, he'll get taken. If Beason is there, they'll probably take him. I dont think they'll go with any running backs cause most the Backs that could be left have problems either on the field or off. So i'm narrowing there possible selection down to..

Dwayne Bowe ( long shot, but if he's there they'll take him as a future replacement for Harrison and a 3rd wideout )

Jon Beason ( Not as much of a long shot, but probably wont be on the board )

Lawrence Timmons ( Very possible and he still might be there depending on what other teams needs turn out to be come draft time. )

And the guy i want..

Justin Harrell ( huge DT whos talented , but probably wont be on the board. Who knows tho. )

RP
04-13-2007, 10:38 PM
And if Ginn is on the board when Indy is up, i dont think they'll take him. I wont be mad if they do, but i dont think Ginn is the type of WR they'll be looking for. I dont think he's gunna translate well in the Pro's. Indy will want someone who can step up and play the #2 when Marvin retires. Ginn just isnt that guy. He's more of a special teams/ 3rd wide out imo. He terribly exciting, but not the type of guy the Colts would waste a first rounder on. So i could see him get passed up if he's there.

Also, i dont know why all these mock drafts think the Colts will draft the Saftey from Texas. Doss wasnt a huge loss. He wasnt even gunna start. Bethae beat him out for the job last year and showed flashes of brilliance all year including the playoffs. Ask Steve McNair what he thinks of Bethae after the playoff game last year. I dont see Indy going DB at all unless it happens to be the best available.

You think Urlacher didn't get paid to do that? Companys have been doing that shit for years (trying to sneak in with hats and shit like that) so I guess the NFL is starting to crack down on it (I highly doubt Vitamin Water paid him 100,000 to do it, so now that move actaully lost him money)

Gatorade pays huge money to have the exculsive rights so they don't want some company using ambush marketing techniques to get a piece of the market while paying a way lot less money

can't tell if you're joking or not.

It voilates the NFLPA contract with the NFL. He knew what he was doing and who knows what he got paid.

That being said, slapping him with 100K fine will keep others from doing it, although I suspect some big company will make a deal with a player to pay them and pickup the fine just for the press.

Also, remember this isn't like a rookie undrafted, this is a well paid player, the 100K wont make him homeless.

I don't believe in unions in pro sports with as much money as the players make nowadays. I think, for example, the New York Yankees should be owned by the borough of the Bronx and not some rich moron who doesn't know shit about baseball, the Boston Celtics by the city of Boston, the Dodgers by the city of Los Angeles etc. The money generated in revenue would go to the cities and the city can pay each player's salary. Every player in the MLB, NHL, NFL and NBA would strike (except for the players on the Packers) but with what little percent of them have college degrees nowadays what the fuck else would they do? Flip burgers? It's not the fault of the owner or player that players make way too much money for playing a game, it's the fault of the system. It was fine how it was before the 60's when free agency didn't exist and the players got paid shit, but with a guy making 25 mil a year it's time for a change.

Jesus Shuttlesworth

It is what it is, the NFL is a business and they are going to do whatever it takes to keep companies from using ambush marketing techniques. Not saying I think it is the greatest thing ever or something, but it makes sense. If the NFL is gonna make who knows how much million because Gatorade is willing to pay so much for the "exclusive" rights then they are going to do whatever it takes to ensure that Gatorade is receiving the exclusive rights. Lets say the NFL did nothing about this, and other players kept wearing Vitamin Water hats to press conferences, Gatorade would probably be pretty pissed and demand that they pay a lot less since they aren't the exclusive sponsor.

I also have a hard time admitting that anything is unfair to a dude who gets paid millions to play a game

and you would be fined and eventually suspended and as the miz put it, flipping burgers.

It's like any other job, there are rules, working in most retail stores requires a certain dress code so does the nfl, most coproate companies have shirt/tie requirements, some jobs require suits.

to stima comment about socks, the NFL is actually the most strict about dress code, and has someone at each game checking player uniforms and has been known to fine players for everything from sock color to length of towel, those I agree are silly.

As for the vit water thing, can't see how there's any debate here. It doesn't stop him from doing commercials on his own time, just limits him from using the nfl to advertise for a company that isn't a sponser...

That being said, I think powerade would be more of a pissy thing for gatoraid... I drink Vit Water but never think of it was a "replenishing" drink like gatorade or powerade.

not a horrible idea, but what makes you think the person in charge of the team still wouldn't be "some idiot who knows nothing about baseball". Someone still has to run the team, make decisions on who the coach, gm, trainers, trades, free agents etc...

Most pro sports teams already do generate plenty of money for the local area, taxes on gameday sales (from beer to dogs to jerseys), keeping people employed (working at the stadium, then payroll tax), real estate tax, vendors outside the stadium having business (paying licenses and taxes), players salaires which are tax'd like any other employee, hotels and hotel sales and taxes, tourism from visiting teams.

The trade off is now, if a team has a bad year a loses money it doesn't effect the city/town/state.

Also, I'm not sure how your plan changes players making 25mil/year, unless you plan on a salary cap (see: football and basketball for examples) which doesn't exactly eliminate top salaries (and see nfl signing bonuses) a nd the nba (which has more "exception rules" then I've ever been able to figure out, starting with the "larry bird" rule that you could go over the cap if re-signing your own player).

If you mean a cap on how much a player can earn, who decides that amount and shouldn't we do the same with an actor getting 20mil for a movie? and then make the movie studios under public control?

I've never had an issue with free agency or players salaries, the players will get what teams can afford and fans will pay, just like movie stars and such. I have no issue with free agency because it would be like telling a sales rep for Verizon in MA he can't take a job making more money selling for Sprint in NH.

Now, if you want to talk salary cap to level the playing field for "smaller market teams" (see: Red Sox, Yanks vs. Royals) I can see an argument there, still not sure how you tell an owner they "can't" spend their money because someone else doesn't make as much, but in the spirit of competition or more making money for the league (see: Teams like KC that only sell tickets when the Sox & Yanks visit) that's a fair argument.

not a horrible idea, but what makes you think the person in charge of the team still wouldn't be "some idiot who knows nothing about baseball". Someone still has to run the team, make decisions on who the coach, gm, trainers, trades, free agents etc...

I just used the Yankees as an example because as we all know, Steinbrenner doesn't know shit about fielding a competitive baseball team. I think the general manager should be in charge and make personnel decisions from the coaching staff to the players. I think all a manager should do is set the lineup and keep a positive attitude around his players. The hitting coach should instruct the hitters how to hit, the pitching coach should instruct the pitchers how to pitch, etc., etc. The GM (ex: of the Mariners) would be elected by a popular vote of the citizens (ex: of Seattle).

I believe any money generated by the sports teams should go to the federal government (elected by popular vote) and they can spend it on national debt & education.

who decides that amount?

US citizens

and shouldn't we do the same with an actor getting 20mil for a movie? and then make the movie studios under public control?

Yep

Saints Sign CB Jason David to Offer Sheet; Colts Have 7 Days To Match

Doug Miller, NewOrleansSaints.com
Apr 19, 2007 – 4:45 pm

The New Orleans Saints announced today that they have signed Indianapolis Colts restricted free agent cornerback Jason David to an offer sheet. Terms of the offer sheet were undisclosed. The announcement was made by Saints' Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis (http://neworleanssaints.com/frontofficebio.cfm?frontofficeid=49).

David, 24, has started 43 regular season games for the Colts after being selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft. The product of Washington State University has appeared in all 48 regular season games while also starting all six postseason games that the Colts have played since 2004, including the Colts' Super Bowl XLI victory over the Chicago Bears. In regular season play, David has collected 147 career tackles (125 solo stops) with eight interceptions for 65 yards (8.1 yards per return average) with a long return of 34 yards (2004) and one touchdown. Additionally, the Canadian-born (Edmonton, Alberta) David, who grew up in Covina, Ca., has recovered three fumbles during his first three seasons on the professional level while also seeing spot duty as a punt returner (9-50-5.6 avg.).
As a collegian at Washington State, David was a three-year starter for the Cougars who started his final 35 games in his 44-game career. He collected 128 career tackles in addition to 16 interceptions for 316 yards, four fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and 36 passes defensed. He set a school mark for career interceptions (16) and touchdowns via interception returns (three).

Under the terms of the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Colts have seven days to match the terms and conditions of the Saints' offer. If Indianapolis elects not to match New Orleans' offer, they would receive the Saints' fourth-round draft choice (#126 overall) as compensation.

So the Colts have lost both their starting corners..

NFL.com wire reports

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 20, 2007) -- Suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/552555) bought a full-page newspaper advertisement to print an open letter in which he promised to regain trust of his team and fans.
In the advertisement in the sports section of Friday's editions of The Tennessean -- Nashville's daily newspaper -- Jones told his family, coaches, teammates and Titans fans he must reorganize his priorities.
"In the past few weeks, I have learned a lifetime of lessons," the letter states.
Jones writes of hoping to not only meet, but exceed the expectations people have of him.
"The first step in meeting these goals is for me to stop making the poor choices that have put me in this position," the letter reads.
Jones is appealing his season-long suspension (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/10119161) by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Cincinnati receiver Chris Henry (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/412641), a teammate of Jones at West Virginia, also was suspended. But Henry received an eight-game ban.
In his letter, Jones said his attorneys advised him to appeal the suspension to "clarify some of the facts and address the unprecedented punishment that was imposed."
Jones said he plans to re-enroll at West Virginia University and finish his degree.
The sixth pick overall in the 2005 draft and the first defensive player taken that year, Jones has talked with police 10 times since being drafted, and been arrested five times. He has not been convicted of any charge since being drafted.
But Las Vegas police want to charge Jones for inciting a fight at a strip club on Feb. 19 that led to a triple shooting. Jones also did not inform the Titans of two arrests in Georgia last year, and a felony obstruction charge for allegedly biting a Fayetteville, Georgia, police officer was delayed until May.
Titans owner Bud Adams has said team officials weren't sure they want Jones back unless he changes his behavior and avoids controversy off the field.

I hope he realizes this will not help his cause.. Goodell is making an example of him..

<font color=white>Right, I'm no Saints expert. Is Colston good enough to be the #1 guy in Norleans? Going by numbers, I'm guessing yes but I saw like 3 catches of his last season, I figure he'll get more attention next year etc</font>

Kris P Lettus

Yeah, he is the truth..

70 catches
1038 rec yards
14.8 yard avg
8 TDs

As of right now, our depth chart reads like

Marques Colston
Devery Henderson
Jamaal Jones
Terrance Copper
David Patten
Micheal "Beerman" Lewis

Colston is the shit.. Devery is a big, fast third year guy outta LSU.. He had a breakout game against the Falcons when Horn was hurt last year.. I don't know alot about Jones, but I think Payton brought him (with Terrance Copper) from the Cowboys.. Copper had those two horrible fumbles late in the Steelers (I think) game last year.. That kinda hurt him with die hard fans.. After that he made some huge catches for us.. David Patten is a quality player who played for the Pats in all three of their last Super Bowl apprearances.. We picked him up after Horn left because our young squad needs a veteran leader.. Plus he was a good addition to the depth chart.. "Beerman" is mainly a return guy because he's pretty small but he can play the slot.. He is the man though.. A Vince Papale "living the dream" type guy.. He didn't play college ball and walked on after delivering beer around NOLA for 13 years.. He's been hurt the past couple of years and it wouldn't suprise me if he gets cut because that was rumored all last season.. I would be dissapointed though..

You have to think about the fact that we have the most versitile offensive player in the league right now in Reggie Bush.. Payton plays him at wide out alot..

Also, we have 6 picks in the first 4 rounds of the draft.. I know we need to fill spots on the D, but it wouldn't suprise me if they go after a WR in like, the fourth round..

Who Dat??

Yeah now that they've addressed the corner situation they can definitely do that, if they want. Although tbh I'd want a nickel back maybe through the draft cause Fred Thomas should never again see an NFL field.

Kris P Lettus
04-20-2007, 02:56 PM
They resigned him.. I dunno why.. He got burned on pretty much every big play team had against us.. Deuce told me he lost his confidence..

Maybe we should go after Dwayne Bowe in the first round, but I think another corner would serve us well..

Saints Sign WR David Patten
Dave Lawrence, NewOrleansSaints.com
Apr 12, 2007 – 6:00 pm

Adding depth and a veteran presence to an impressive but young receiving corps, the New Orleans Saints signed free agent wide receiver David Patten (http://neworleanssaints.com/playerbio.cfm?playerid=437) to a one-year contract Thursday. Patten, a 10-year NFL veteran, brings experience - and winning experience at that - to a passing attack that was tops in the league in 2006.

Patten brings three Super Bowl rings along with him to the Crescent City, all earned during the four seasons (2001-04) he played with the New England Patriots. One of Tom Brady's favorite receivers during his Patriot days, the speedy 32-year-old wideout will now give Drew Brees (http://neworleanssaints.com/playerbio.cfm?playerid=330) yet another target as the Saints look to improve upon their offensive performance from a season ago.

"We're very happy to have David join our team," said Saints Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis (http://neworleanssaints.com/frontofficebio.cfm?frontofficeid=49). "We believe that as a proven winner, his veteran leadership and abilities on and off the field will be a great benefit to our club."

Most recently with the Washington Redskins, Patten has played in 126 career regular season games, catching 259 passes for 3,761 yards and 20 touchdowns. Additionally, the Western Carolina product has 20 receptions for 260 yards in seven career postseason appearances with two touchdowns, including a score in the Pats' Super Bowl XXXVI win at the Superdome.

Alright so I dunno if you guys have heard about this but apparently the Falcons and Bears are really close to a deal that would have the teams swap 1st round picks and send Lance Briggs to Atlanta. The Falcons would then most likely go after Michael Griffin or Reggie Nelson with the 31st overall pick. The Bears will most likely be looking at Levi Brown or Patrick Willis with the 8th pick.

I didn't even realize Briggs is only 26. He seems older than that.

Rumor that KC might be looking to shop Larry Johnson, they want picks and don't want to pay him?

There's like 6 teams that would have the cap room for him, but only 2 of those that would probably have the pics. Raiders and Browns.

I don't think you'll ever see another Hershal Walker deal, but I'd think KC would want at least 3 1st round picks for him, or 2 and some othe pics?

Trading Green, looking to move LJ, is KC trying to rebuild?
