It's suspected that teams have already contacted Culpeper (he's his own agent) and he already has a deal or a few near deals inplace hence why he wants a release. The Dolphins could trade him, but a team would have to take his current contract which I doubt anyone will do.
If Miami was smart, they'd file tampering charges and then drop the charges in return for Culpeper allowing himself to be traded.. but this is the Dolphins... so I'll guess that doesn't happen.
The "rumors" I've heard so far are him in Jacksonville or St. Louis both teams have former ties to him in Minnesota. I think in Jacksonville if healthy he could end up starting. St. Louis, dunno... he could contend I just don't see him being handed the job.
There was also a rumor he takes 1 year deal to back up Brady in New England "just in case". If he's 100% healthy like he claims I can't see why he'd do that... it would be less money and baring injury no chance to prove himself for next season.

The NFC West is a wide open division this season
The Seahawks have owned it lately but they lost some guys in the past 2 seasons and Alexander is not 100 percent
The Cards have the talent (espc on offense), but always underachieve or a dissapointment
The Rams have lots of weapons this season, but they have to not face a 2nd half collapse like last season
The 49ers look like a type of team that could go 11-5 or 5-11 you just dont know. I wonder how their offense will be different since Turner left as OC.

08-09 is the 49ers year. This year they will probably go like 9-7 or 10-6 at best.

I think the NFC West is prolly the most wide open division out there in the NFL this season.

NFC South...anyone? Its always one team that is always sucking balls for like one season. But all of the South teams have been to the NFC Championship the past 5 years. Watch the falcons go like 4-12 this year. ID BE PISSED!!!
Gonzo
06-11-2007, 01:21 AM
The NFC South is slowly moving towards suckitude. The Saints are the only team that anyone can probably put any money on to do well. The Falcons are going to be stuck in mediocrity hell as long as Vick is their QB.
The Bucs are on the down and out and the Panthers slowly look to be going that way too.

AFC East
There's no way the Pats will be in any danger of not winning the East comfortably. If they don't clear it by at least 2 games I'll be stunned (barring injuries etc obviously)
I kinda like how the AFC North looks this year. Baltimore and Cincy are pretty much right there, I'd put the Steelers only slightly behind, depending on how Tomlin shapes up there. And the Browns...well, they'll give you a game :o

Dolphins got Trent Green who's been on the verge of making it to the big game for like the past 7 years.. And a new coach.. New QB, new coach, worked for the Saints..
Jets were 10-6 last year, making it to the playoffs it the AFC.. I wouldn't count them out..
Bills could easily push for a playoff spot with a solid D and the addition of RB Marshawn Lynch..
Pats don't need an explaination..
Just look at it this way, The Pats will NOT go undefeted in their own division..
That being said, Pat/Ravens AFC Chapionship..

Ravens defense is awsome. I hope the Pats and Colts go like 7-9. So there can be new faces in the playoffs in the AFC

Dolphins got Trent Green who's been on the verge of making it to the big game for like the past 7 years.. And a new coach.. New QB, new coach, worked for the Saints..
He's worked with Cameron before I'll give you that. But he's also been playing behind the Chiefs O-line, which was about 10x what Miami's is. Plus their D has to hit the wall at some point, Thomas and Taylor can't go forever.
Jets were 10-6 last year, making it to the playoffs it the AFC.. I wouldn't count them out..
I like what Mangini has done so far, and they could certainly pull an upset, but I just think the Pats have way too much firepower for them now. Last year they really scrapped and kept the games close, I don't think they'll be able to this year.
Bills could easily push for a playoff spot with a solid D and the addition of RB Marshawn Lynch..
I'd reserve judgment on the D given that they lost Spikes, Fletcher *and* Clements. It's asking an awful lot of their young players to fill those guys' shoes.
Kris P Lettus
06-11-2007, 04:01 PM
I know what you're saying and I think the Pats will win the division.. I mean, they were already a powerhouse and with the outsatanding offseason they've had, they are the fav to go to the super bowl.. I just think the other teams in that division, either with young or new QB's and new coaches and whatnot have a chance at the playoffs..

Yeah the AFC South is tough as well. While its the Colts division hands down. The Jags are def a team that can make a good run in the playoffs. I think the Texans wont make the playoffs but will have a 6-10 to 8-8 type of season. It was awesome what the Titans did ly but 3 things worry me about them this season 1. Lack of WRs 2. RB depth and 3. Vince Young is on the Madden Cover this season.

06-13-2007, 01:27 AM
Do y'all think the Browns should start Brady Quinn this season??
I mean, if they start Charlie Frye for the next couple of years, even with the revamped o-line and Jamal Lewis, they'll prolly still be under .500.. Then you have to give Quinn atleast two years to get ajusted.. I say start him now..
Kris P Lettus
06-13-2007, 01:28 AM
Also, what do y'all think about all the other QB battles around the league??
Carr or Delhomne??
Gracia or Simms??
Etc??
Jesus Shuttlesworth
06-13-2007, 01:33 AM
I don't really think either of those battles, Garcia Simms MAYBE but Carr/Delhomme def isn't
Kris P Lettus
06-13-2007, 01:44 AM
Carr has always showed signs of greatness.. His line was horrid..
Jesus Shuttlesworth
06-13-2007, 02:22 AM
Yeah but I don't think they brought him to compete with Delhomne, Delhomne is the starter......Carr is the insurance

SammyG
06-13-2007, 01:48 PM
Good, Garcia should be the starter in TB
Gonzo
06-13-2007, 02:55 PM
Garcia will probably start in Tampa provided Simms doesn't have a strong showing in training camp. The thing is though, if Garcia plays a year or two in Tampa, they are going to need a new QB at the end of his tenure there. I doubt after that Chris Simms will still be around or will even be worth developing.

Yeah I have heard Garcias the starter in TB as well
mrslackalack
06-13-2007, 10:21 PM
Well KPL Id say the Browns should start Frye for the season. I dont think they should throw Quinn into the system yet. But if the Browns suck early on then they should let him come in games late like Vince Young or start him later on in the season. I think he should sit for a whole year and learn because it benefitted Carson Palmer tremendously and hes one of the best QBs in the league.

06-13-2007, 10:22 PM
Jags are showing strong interest in Culpepper

Colts will repeat for sure.
See now at least that's a prediction... I disagree of course, but it's better then "one of these two teams of the 4 will win it".
Just wondering, if something did happen to Peyton, is their any ideas of how Sorgi would be?
Here the talk is Vinny will be back, which shows bill isn't ready to trust he's team to Cassell if something happend to Brady.
AFC East
Wide open? not really... I would say the AFC East is back to being one of if not the toughest division... but wide open would mean every team has a good shot at the Division... they don't, barring injuries the Pats just have too much fire power and good coaching.
That being said, the Jets or Phins should make a run at a WildCard, problem is the division beats on it'self which makes it easier for a #2 team in a shitty confrence to get the Wildcard then the #2 in a good confrence.
LOL Have you seen Vinne Tesdeverde play lately? I'd trust my team to Sorgi before Tesdeverde

I wasn't asking vinny vs. sorgi... and Vinny actually didn't look 1/2 bad the little he played... that being said I don't have much confidence in either backup and just hope brady stays healthy.
so I ask again, what's the feeling on Sorgi running the offense if Manning goes down... do they changes the offense or can he run the same system?

In a big money fantasy fb draft I was in back in 05, I had the #3 pick and and Peyton and LT were taking with the first 2 picks. I had planned on picking Alexander but I was talking with a friend who wasnt in the league and he said he would have picked Culpepper even if he had the #1 pick because he came off his best season ever. I thought about it and realized Culpepper had lost Moss but Burelson looked like a promising target. I picked Culepper and of course all the Ints and boat incidents happened then the season ending injury. Alexander went on to be MVP that season. While I had a winning season had I picked Alexander I likely would have won the title.

He'll prolly do it "part time" like last season..
He'll be one of are 9 recievers or one of our 4 RBs..
Lewis was hurt most of last season starting from last years training camp.. They been talking about cutting him since then.. Whitehead kinda suprises me, as he's a solid veteran d-lineman and everyone keeps saying we need depth at DT..
I'm gunna go ahead and say it right now. I think Joseph Addai will be the leagues MVP this year.

Didnt one game last season Addai have 100 plus yards with 4 TDs and almost had a 5th?
Yah against the Eagles. He pretty much shredded them all night.
Heres why i think he'll be MVP. For one, he's not gunna share the rock this year. Dungy said he wasnt gunna go away from the two back system, but i dont believe that at all. Addai will get 80% of the work if not more. Two, if people play Peyton Manning like they did last year. Not only will Addai have 1400 yards rushing and 1200 yards recieving with about 80 receptions and 18 tds, but the Colts will win another Superbowl for sure.
I know every thinks i'm nuts, but i'd seriously like someone to tell me how do you stop the Colts? How do you play defense against an offense that can air it out better then any team in the league and if you play them for that, then they are fully content and probably the best in the league with dunking and dinking there way to the other end of the field.
If defense play Manning like they did last year, Addai will blow up this season in a big way. And if our defense is stopping the run, we're about as tuff as it gets to beating.
I can honestly see the Colts repeating this year. There demeanor reminds me so much like the Pats after they beat the Rams.
Pats vs Colts SUPERBOWL this year guys. Just like last year.

Steven Jackson- Def a top 5 RB in the league

We didnt struggle with injuries on the offensive side of the ball really last year. Bulger started all 16 games, for the first time ever. I am really excited about next year. Our offense is ridiculously good. Also, James Hall should provide a decent pass rush on defense, and prevent teams from double teaming Little all the time. Dante Hall may be a bit past his prime, but I still expect big things.

Lynch will be the feature back, however it seems like the bills are easing him in. He will be on the Addai type level, working more into the starting role as the weeks pass. I predict about 1000 yards rushing and about 40 catches. Anthony Thomas and their 4th Pick Wright will also get carries every game. Wright is a very powerful back who fell after a great career at Fresno ST because of injuries. He will never be a starting back, but as a 5-10 carries a game he will be a great change of pace back. By the end of the year The A-train will be out of a job.
Alot of people have Tank to the bills, which I would welcome, but it wont happen. Both GM Marv Levy and Coach Dick Jauron are all about High Character players, that is their thing. No way they bring in a troubled guy that is going to miss 8 games. Bill traded for Darwin Walker and if he doesn't sign, then we are just going to suck it up the middle. If he doesn't play, I doubt we sign anyone else.

Kitna's lofty aim: 50 passing TDs
July 1, 2007
FREE PRESS NEWS SERVICES
At this rate, Jon Kitna might say the Lions are going to win two Super Bowls -- this season.
Having already made waves by saying the Lions will win 10 games this year, the quarterback mentioned another far-out figure during an appearance on ESPN's "Mike and Mike in the Morning" radio show Friday.
Asked how many touchdown passes he will throw this season, Kitna replied: "We've been joking around as the passing-game crew -- the receivers and tights ends and stuff -- we've been breaking down our little huddles saying '50' and all that stuff.
"But we know that's an awful lofty goal."
Why, yes, it is. The NFL record, held by Peyton Manning, is 49. Kitna's career high is 26, set in 2003.
The interviewers also asked Kitna about his 10-wins-or-more prediction, and he again stood behind it.
"The thing I think is holding back our organization is expectations," Kitna said. "Our expectation level has to come up."
• Kitna also mentioned that tailback Kevin Jones is "looking good" in his recovery from a serious foot injury suffered last season.
haha Kitna is like my favourite Lion now

road doggy dogg
07-01-2007, 07:36 PM
Yeah Kitna will def get the good numbers (fantasy-wise, at least) but I think it's a bit much to expect anything over 30 TDs, even with the receivers he has. Don't get me wrong though, I'm glad the team is setting the bar high, at least that way when they settle for much less, "much less" will be more than what they're used to. I hope.
Hall will probably get a huge contract elsewhere after this season. And I'll laugh because he's the most over-rated player ever.

Cornerbacks, even shutdown, are over paid. While Having Champ Bailey is amazing, alot of teams can get by with 3 or 4 guys that cost the same (See Colts/Patriots.
For now it seems, you can mask your corners with systems. Im sure they will get figured out and the day of Lockdown premium corners will come back, but when guys like Clements are getting 80 million, the cover 2 is worth its weight in gold. Premium Safeties are really starting to emerge as the important money posistion. Also Guard. 10 years ago it wasnt an important spot, but now with rotations on DLine as opposed to a guy getting all the snaps, top notch guards are really important. When you have fresh D lineman rushing all game, you need a stud out there to suck them in.

NFL International to focus on global impact:
NFL Europa discontinued
June 29, 2007) -- The NFL has determined that it will switch the focus of its international business strategy to presenting the NFL to the widest possible global audience, including broader media visibility and the staging of international regular-season games, and will discontinue NFL Europa (http://www.nfleurope.com/). "The time is right to re-focus the NFL's strategy on initiatives with global impact, including worldwide media coverage of our sport and the staging of live regular-season NFL games," commented Mark Waller, senior vice president of NFL International.
"We will continue to build our international fan base by taking advantage of technology and customized digital media that make the NFL more accessible on a global scale than ever before and through the regular-season game experience. NFL Europa has created thousands of passionate fans who have supported that league and our sport for many years and we look forward to building on this foundation as we begin this new phase of our international development."
Last October, NFL owners passed a resolution to stage up to two international regular-season games per season. The new international series will launch on Sunday, October 28 when the Miami Dolphins host the New York Giants at London's Wembley Stadium.
In addition to the 2007 game in the United Kingdom, the NFL is preparing to stage regular-season games in future seasons in Germany, Mexico and Canada, with Germany being a strong candidate to host a regular-season NFL game in 2008.
NFL Europa began in 1991 as the World League of American Football, with 10 teams competing in North America and Europe. After a two-year hiatus (1993-94) following the 1992 season, the league returned in 1995 as a six-team, all-European venture, with five teams in Germany since 2005, and has existed in that format through its final season in 2007.

I actually think that the Lions won't be that awful this year. While I doubt that they will win 12 games or anything like that, I don't think that 8-8 is out of the question for them. Kitna really isn't that bad.
I also want to point out that having Norv Turner as your head coach is an automatic death sentence. It's a shame, since San Diego has so much talent on that team. I would not be surprised if they were under .500 this season.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Former Philadelphia linebacker Dhani Jones, who started for the Eagles last season but was waived after last spring's draft, said Thursday night that he intends to sign with the New Orleans Saints.
Jones, 29, discussed his decision while being interviewed on the NFL Network. Saints spokesman Greg Bensel did not immediately respond to a message seeking confirmation from the team.
Jones, who is listed at 6-foot-1, 240 pounds, played four season with the New York Giants before spending the past three with the Eagles. In Philadelphia, he was considered a disappointment after his combined tackle and assist totals fell into the 70s during each of his three seasons there, down from a career high of 120 during his last season in New York.
He played in all 16 regular season games in 2006 and was credited with 55 tackles and 21 assists, as well as half a sack.
He played for Payton in NY.. Still adding much needed depth to our D..

Freeney only had 5.5 sacks last season though, kind of an odd time to get a huge free agent contract isn't it?
He still has a big impact on that D though obviously, allowing others to get free'd up etc but he is an elite pass rusher, you'd expect more then just 5 and 1/2 sacks in a year.
Bob Sanders is the glue (and the best player) on that defensive though, how much time is left on his deal?

But Freeney is going into his what, fifth season?? Like Reggie Bush, he's numbers don't nessarsarily reflect his impact.. Drawing double teams, making Off Coordinators have to gameplay for him, etc..Oh yeah without a doubt Freeney is a great player, I think this past season was the only time he didn't make the Probowl, but just because he frees up other players and coordinators plan around him doesn't make him the best. One big reason why I think that is because is an outstanding pass rusher but is he great against the run? I personally don't think he is
Still though, he is a top 5 DE in the NFL..that's how good of a pass rusher he is
I personally think Julius Peppers is the best DE in the NFL, he can do it all and do it all extremely well. He is great against the pass, the rush and can even drop back into coverage. He had 13 sacks, hit the QB 38 times, deflected 12 passes and forced 3 fumbles last season. Dude is a monster

Bob Sanders is the glue (and the best player) on that defensive though, how much time is left on his deal?
He had a shoulder injury and a knee injury that lingered from the beginning of training camp. Plus he was rarely double teamed. Most of the time he was triple teamed by either a formation specifically designed for his side or by olinemen and RBs and TE's blocking him and chipping at him from every direction.
The thing about the deal is that it only counts as 5.7 million this year and i think a tad bit more next.. not alot. Sure not 9 million and 11 million that it woulda cost us. According to John Clayton, because of this deal, we're under the cap by about 4 or 5 million ( if i remember reading correctly ). And that we'll have even more cap space when we release Corey Simon here soon and the cap is suppose to go up next year by about 4 or 5 million maybe more i dont remember. So we'll be able to sign Bob Sanders and Tarik Glenn who i think our both up next year.

Anderson has had comparisons to Peppers. I dunno if he will be as great as Peppers but many think he will have a good career.

If anything, Jamaal Anderson will be at the very least the next Reggie White.
On a completely unrelated note, I hear Justin Blalock will end up being the next Gene Upshaw and Chris Houston is on track to be the next Deion Sanders.

Reggie Bush will be like the next Barry Sanders. Drew Brees will be the next um... I dont know. And Chris Houston being the next Deion Sanders....no and Justin Blalock will probably suck in the NFL. If he blocks good Vicks passin for 2500 yards

We face the Vikings week 1. I remember what happened like 6 years ago when we faced the Vikes. Vick burned there asses. We got a tough schedule. I'd be suprised if he even got 2000 yards. But theres 5 games I'm looking out for. When we face the Rams, Saints, Saints, Jags, and the Colts. :)
