Petreno is a very aggressive coach. He is ruthless and will run the score up if the Falcons have a blowout.

The ATL JC poll has 2 out of every 3 people saying they will throw away Vicks jeresy and that he should be at least suspended.
Leonard Little really did kill a dude. Then he went out and got busted for DUI again i think.
I love dogs so this really makes me sick. I hope he never plays in the NFL again. I respect Pacman more then i respect Vick. What a dumbass too. All the nike commercials. The Michael Vick Experience. All that money. What a moron. Probably will go down in history as one of the dumbest human beings in the history of the United States. Michael Vick has done what was once thought to be impossible. He made Marcus Vick look like the good son.
Oh and he'll see prison btw. I've watched 3 channels that have said that the judge in the case is very stiff and will no doubt throw Vick in jail for years if he's found guilty. All those gruesome details in the inditement pretty much sealed it.
GO GO Joey Harrington.

So you're trying to tell us that Michael Vick is a good Quarterback? He is a good athlete. NOT a QB. A QB throws the ball, makes good decisions, is a leader. This guy made plays with his feet, he flipped off fans, and he wasn't reliable at all.

Vick bred dogs to kill, and if they wouldnt fight, killed them in the most horrible way you could kill an animal. He deserves to rot.

I also think that a message needs to be sent. Athletes are larger than life celebrities and they think that they can get away with anything. You give them an inch and they are going to take a mile. It has been constantly escalating for the last few years. Now we are at a point with 50 arrests in an offseason and a fucking dog fighting ring. What is next? Running man? Goodell needs to BAN Vick if he is convicted.
If Pete rose can be banned for GAMBLING, Vick needs to be banned for this. He has sent a message with Tank and Pacman, Vick needs to follow.

Forget about the whole dog thing. Vick should be suspended for life just for being that stupid to begin with. 100 million dollar contract and another 100 mill for endorsements and you're fighting dogs for at the most 20grand.

and how does this differ from movie/tv stars? or music stars? or poloticians? the list goes on... It's not just athletes it's people with money or fame in general and the reason they get away with it is people let them.
Now we are at a point with 50 arrests in an offseason and a fucking dog fighting ring. What is next? Running man?
huh? how did we get into Ahhhnold movies? lay off the caffene kid!
Goodell needs to BAN Vick if he is convicted.
Well, if convicted he'll probably be going to jail for awhile... unless of course he works a plea and gives up info on bigger people to get himself out of jail, either way if convicted I don't think Goodell will need to do much, I think it will take care of itself.
If Pete rose can be banned for GAMBLING,
Ok, wait, stop, stop, stop... you understand these are two different sports right? Baseball and Football have no connection except both being a sport. Football suspended and basiclly ended the career of a guy with potential to be a top 10 all-time running back for smoking weed, baseball celebrated guys who used steroids. Rose was banned for betting on his own games as a manager, trust me... if an NFL coach was caught betting on his own team they'd be gone. Actually, if I recall the NFL has some very strict gambling laws, that actually prevents NFL players from gambling on other sports (I don't recall it ever actually being enforced)

Ya think? ya think he did this all for the money?
Clinton Portis got some flack a few weeks ago (months?) for kinda comming to Vicks aid and talking about it being different where they come from or something like that.... is it possible Vick grew up in a culture where this was accepted and considered sport?
Now, I'm not excusing this in any way... and my favorite stupid comment was someone who said "Well, boxing is legal, it's ok for humans but not dogs?"
umm, yeah, anyone with 1/4 of a brain understands the difference so I won't even get into it.

biggest loss the Colts have had in a long time. Bigger then any loss the last 5 seasons. Thats a huge blow to the team right there to lose Glenn. Dont know what the Colts will do. Throw Ugoh in the fire and see what he can learn? There's a reason why Manning gets sacked only 12 times a seasons and escapes major injury. Glenn will be missed so bad i cant even measure it right now.

mrslackalack
07-21-2007, 10:57 PM
They still have Saturday though
They had made cap room with the Freeney deal with the mindset to lock up Tarik Glenn and Bob Sanders next year. So i'm not really sure what the deal is. I think he was rumored to be looking for retirement after a Superbowl win. Thats what was being talked about a year or two ago. I dont think it's anything as far as a Colts /Glenn relationship. Probably just wanted to retire. Its pretty stunning cause he's only 31 and was about to be paid like one of the highest paid tackles in the league.

someone wanna explain to mrs. lacka lack the difference between a Center and an OT especially one who protects the QB's blind side?
I'm not saying a Center isn't important, but saying "they still have Saturday" is like saying "They still have Bob Sanders" has nothing to do with the position of loss, just means they didn't get weak at 2 posistions.

NFL Orders Vick to Stay Out of Camp
NEW YORK (July 23) - Michael Vick was ordered by commissioner Roger Goodell on Monday to stay away from the Atlanta Falcons' training camp until the league reviews the dogfighting charges against him.
"While it is for the criminal justice system to determine your guilt or innocence, it is my responsibility as commissioner of the National Football League to determine whether your conduct, even if not criminal, nonetheless violated league policies, including the Personal Conduct Policy," Goodell said in a letter to the quarterback.
The NFL said Vick would still get his preseason pay and Goodell told the Falcons to withhold any disciplinary action of their own until the league's review was completed.
Goodell told Vick the league would complete its review as quickly as possible and that he expected full cooperation. The review is expected to involve conversations with federal law enforcement officials so the NFL can determine the strength of the case against Vick.
The Falcons open camp on Thursday, the same day Vick is scheduled to be arraigned in Richmond, Va., on charges of sponsoring a dogfighting operation.
The team declined comment other than to say a news conference was scheduled Tuesday at owner Arthur Blank's office in Atlanta.
Vick, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 draft, last season became the first quarterback ever to rush for more than 1,000 yards.
After his indictment last week, the NFL's position was that it would monitor developments and allow the legal process to "determine the facts."
Since then, pressure has been mounting on the league and the Falcons, particularly from animal-rights groups.
PETA - People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - demonstrated at Falcons' headquarters in Flowery Branch, Ga., on Monday and did the same outside NFL offices in New York last week. At the same time, Goodell was meeting with officials from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The league and the ASPCA are working on a program to educate players about the proper treatment of animals.
Vick was indicted on charges relating to illegal dogfighting, and the court documentation paints a gruesome picture of the face of the Falcons.
Activists also put pressure on companies that have endorsements deals with Vick to sever their ties. Nike said it would not release a fifth signature shoe, the Air Zoom Vick V, this summer. Nike spokesman Dean Stoyer said the four shoe products and three shirts that currently bear Vick's name will remain in stores.
Goodell's order came down after lengthy discussions involving the league office, the Falcons and the NFL Players' Association. Gene Upshaw, the NFLPA's executive director, was one of the first to side with Goodell when he instituted the strong Personal Conduct Policy after a season of repeated misdeeds by players.
Disciplining players has turned out to be Goodell's main focus since taking over last Sept. 1 for the retired Paul Tagliabue.
Since the end of last season, he has used the new policy to suspend Adam "Pacman" Jones of the Tennessee Titans for the entire 2007 season; and Chris Henry of Cincinnati and former Chicago Bear Tank Johnson for eight games each.
Those calling for Vick's suspension have noted that Jones, who faces charges of coercion in Las Vegas stemming from a shooting that left a man paralyzed, wasn't convicted when he was suspended.
However, league officials said there were mitigating circumstances in the Jones case.
In January, he accepted a plea agreement to dismiss public intoxication and disorderly conduct charges in Tennessee if he behaved himself for six months. League officials say that the charges in Las Vegas voided that agreement and were a major factor in his suspension.
The indictment of Vick alleges that about eight young dogs were put to death at his Surry County home after they were found not ready to fight. They were killed "by hanging, drowning and/or slamming at least one dog's body to the ground."
Purses for the fights ranged from hundreds of dollars to the thousands, and participants and spectators often placed side bets on the outcome, according to the indictment
If convicted, Vick and three others charged with him could face up to six years in prison, and $350,000 in fines.

LOL yah, but he'll get paid either way. If they franchise him next year ( which they probably wont ) he'll be one of the highest paid defensive players in the league by a yearly salary. Most likely he'll get a long term deal from someone next year barring any crazy injuries.

When you've had the same Pro Bowler protecting your blind side since you've come into the league, you dont just all of sudden replace that guy and you're fine. Its gunna be difficult.
I think that was the exact point I was making (write this down, it will probably be the last time we agree this season).

Because he's a beast. He's hungry. He thinks he can be the best ever. We don't have an offensive line except for Pace, and he still goes out there and dominates. Expect huge things from Jackson this year, and next year, and so on. I don't see why you wouldn't have confidence in this guy.

Let me wipe away the tears. He skipped a drug test, got a DUI, and now he is being investigated for assault. Fuck him, hes a thug, he doesn't deserve to be in the NFL. His punishment is nothing compared to what most people would face.

CM still goes down as the worst move the Patriots ever made letting him go to the Jets and then letting Bobby Grier use those draft picks and we got nothing for him.
You know, Nate Newton did the EXACT same thing that Michael Vick did involving running these dog fights, yet he didn't get any of the attention that Vick is getting now. This is another media frenzy that is getting the attention that it is because of who was involved in it. They don't care about the acts, they just care that it was a big named sports star that did them. The thing that gets me most is that Roger Goodell will be "praised" for his actions on this case because he will crash down on a big name star who is black, which will be enough to hide the fact from most people like MatthewAllenHanso, who insist they understand the morality of the whole NFL because they read profootballtalk.com, that he is a spineless chicken shit.

After the charges are delt with, assume he cuts a deal and gets no jail time because he turns people in, it will come down to the NFL wanting to make a statement which I think Goodell is that guy.
The reality is, while 90% of people are disgusted by this, the main protesters are PETA they're the ones picketing and threatining boycotts... well, last time I checked the NFL didn't have a huge audience with PETA, they're upset about the "Pig Skin" and many other things... so it's not like the NFL lost a huge marketing share there...
Hopefully Goodell does the right thing.

Well, to the PETA people animals are more important then people.
My issue is stictly with mth3 who's 3yrs old, and doesn't understand there are things more important than football.
The issue for me and most non-peta people isn't the animal death, it happans, matter of fact there will be 3 different animals dead on my grill this afternoon.
it's how, it's animals focred to fight and if they don't fight well they are killed, it's the idea of a piece of equipment called a "rape stand" for breeding.
That's where my issue is, raising animals for the purpose of food is ok with me, raising animals and forcing them to fight isn't ok.
With Dogs it's different for a lot of people because no one things of a pig (bacon, sausage, porkchops, etc..) as a cute animal, where a lot of people have a Dog and have that image and makes it more difficult for most to handle.

I'm sure he maybe could do a fantastic Peyton impression, but aside from that i'm calling bullshit. Simply because ever since Manning has controlled the offense from the line, never has any audible he made been the same as the last time he made it. They switch them up every week and have been doing so since Manning was given that much control. SO i think Belicheck should probably be giving more credit to snowstorms and swallowed whistles, then he does to a backup QB who obviously has alot of time on his hands to fashion his impressions.

Louisville, Senior QB. Some people felt he would have been the #1 pick if he had left early this past season but he decided to stay which shocked everybody considering some of the talent UL lost. He is a great QB in my opinion. Hes been highly touted since HS and is a very accurate QB and a winner. He knows the Bobby Peterno system real well as Petreno was his coach for 3 seasons. Hes one of the favorites for the Heisman this season and is projected as the #1 or #2 pick for the 08 draft.

Some are saying the Falcons are going to be one of if not the worst team in the NFL w/o Vick, but I dont even think they are the worst team in their division. While Harrington is still unproven and they lack a big name WR, they have a good running attack with Warrick Dunn and Norwood (who could have a breakout season) Their defense is solid with guys like Hall and Brooking. I say they will be about 6-10

Well as me being a die hard fan of course I'll say they go 10-6. I know I might sound like a broken record. But Jerious Norwood is the next big thing. If the Falcons go 6-10 or below I will act gay on here for like a week. And thats a bet.
You know, I bet Vick isn't even the only player in the NFL right now that is involved in dog fighting. Some of those players do crazy shit that none of you would even believe.

Name one OTHER good fucking player ON the Falcons (compared to Vick's stats, I mean). I think you will see how right they all are.
I'm not a stat guy, but last year I didn't see too many good things come out of the Falcon's camp on the field (hell, Vick flipped off a fan when they were booing him last year).

I'm sure he maybe could do a fantastic Peyton impression, but aside from that i'm calling bullshit.
Then NFL network doctored the film that they were showing yesterday (or the day before) from 2003 that I was watching, showing Huard in practice and then manning during the game.

Please leave it at that cause I dont have time to go back in forth with some disabled person. Art Monk not getting inducted into the Hall of Fame. If the Falc's do bad this year I wont be too dissapointed.....We get a #1 draft pick and if we dont need a QB, we can either trade it or get someone else.

Did you just read the first line of my post and reply? If so, maybe you should read it again...
Translation ( just in case you still dont understand ) ... Manning might make the same gestures and signals and yell the same words at the line like Apple Apple and what not, but they attach different plays and different formations and different routes to the audibles every week. So tho Huard can probably act like Manning in practice, it really does nothing for the Patriots, cause they wont know what plays or routes Manning is audibling to. The sound and gestures are the same. The meanings are different every week. Practicing it is a waste. Thats not to say that maybe Belecheck and the Pats D didnt catch on to the audibles and plays as that specific game progressed, but theres no way they could have gameplanned to answer Manning audibles, cause theres no way they would know what they meant. Half of them are dummy calls anyways.

yeah, I misunderstood what you said the first time, thought you meant he never used the same words/numbers again.
That being said, I wouldn't call it a waste, and well... the results show it wasn't, I don't think the idea was to figure out what he was calling, it was to get how he acts, and prepare not to jump early and get confused watching him.
That being said, I can only recall one case of a team clearly knowing the audible of a QB, the Pats vs. Miami it was a game in the late 90's. I say that because I'm pretty sure it was Marino and he called an audible at the line, Todd Collins turns to the defense and motions with his arm in a slant motion... needless to say, Collins walked right through the pass and into the endzone and it was clear he knew what was comming.
So yeah, i'd be shocked if any top QB uses the same calls each week with the same names, especially with todays technology.

Also, I thought coming out Klopfenstein and Byrd were going to be nasty, and they still can be, but sticking them behind McMicheal is not helping. This is one of the few times I think youth over experience would be a plus. Randy will pull some attention off the others, so I guess it will work out, but I dont know if I would have done it. I guess that is why I dont have a job as a gm.

Dude, he just turned 28 and he's only been in the league 6 years...
I don't think he ever lived up to his full potential in Miami, we'll see what he does in STL.
Also, the Patriots have been very succesful making TE a key component, signing free agents and drafting, Grahm 1st round 2002, Watson 1st round 2004 and then Dave Thomas 3rd 2006

Not sure Wilson thrills me at CB, and gay/hobbs hold their own, but their asking to get burned, especially by 6ft WR's.

I dunno I disagree and I don't think thats what they are thinking about...Personally I think players feel that teams aren't loyal to them..so why the fuck should a player be loyal to the team?
Granted these guys make a ridiculous amount of money, but still, it's a business. If a team is ready to cut a player and totaly void his contract at any time why shouldn't a player hold out for more money? They are the only ones generating all the money anyways...Nobody is packing the stadiums to watch the GMs play on Sundays you know?

It's very rarely, if ever, about that. It's more about agents trying to get the most money they can for their clients. If an agent does what turns out to be a bad deal then the next year other agents can point it out when recruiting - "I wouldn't sign with that guy, look at the lousy deal he got for his client last year".
