I don't see why not, he can still preform the question becomes money.

Honestly, I thought he did really good on draft day and wouldn't be shocked if he hung it up and took a TV job.

There was a joke/rumor going around yesterday that the Pats were going to sign him.

I can see it now... Moss, Keyshawn and Stallworth all come back to the huddle "Come'on Tommy I was open" says all of them... and Brady responds "I know, I know, you were all wide open and I chose to throw into triple coverage... what can I say, I'm just used to throwing to Troy Brown" :)

Probably wouldnt sit well with Plaxico giving the fact that Keyshawn was dogging him on ESPN's draft coverage saying he takes plays off and what not.

I don't want Meshawn Johnson, and I don't think that the Giants would go after him anyways.

Did anyone watch the draft when the Panthers drafted Dwayne Jarrett, and what Keyshawn was saying?

"This is a great pick. We need another wide receiver," Johnson gushed while working as a draft analyst for ESPN. "This guy is much like me. I'm going to teach him how to play from the point of attack."

When I read that he got released it was LOL the whole time.

Very excited about the Bills Draft. great value on each pick.

I really wanted Peterson, but I love Lynch. I like his all purpose skills, kind of like Thurman Thomas. Alot of people think he will maeka better pro than AP, I really hope so.

Poz on the 2nd....Awesome. I thought they might take him at 12, and they get hom falling. I dont know how he made it that far down. he is a beast. He is smart and strong, and he will do mroe to stop the run than Lond Fletcher. Fletch was great in coverage, so I am hoping Poz can pick it up and learn quickly. He is going to be to the Bills Cover 2 what Urlacher is to the bears. Couldn't be happier.

After that we got a 2nd round caliber QB in round 3 in case Losman fails, and maybe he becomes trade bait a la Matt Schaub. Too good of value to pass up. would have loved another LB but it looks like marv Levy is set with crowell/Poz/Ellison. Great young LB core.

The Bills fight for a Wild card spot this year, im calling it. After being run poorly for so long it is good to see some positives.

Lynch will be in jail before he gets out of his rookie contract. I'm willing to make a bet on this.

Hanso Amore
05-06-2007, 04:13 AM
Why would you say that? He has had ONE incident. ONE. Ray Lewis had none in college and he killed someone. Plenty of guys dont have any trouble in the NFL after Poor college years. I am less worried about him that alot of other AFC East Picks. Merriweather is a fucking thug. Revis and Ginn are just as likely to get a DUI or in a fight as Lynch.

Lynch has "Mama's Boy" tattooed on his back, is already buying a house for him and his mom and brother (so that his Bro can get to a better place and start over). He wants to live in Buffalo year round. I love how the Pats trade for a malcontent and draft a hoodlum, and they are fine, the Bills draft a solid kid that had one bad day and he is going to jail. Maybe it is the dreadlocks that do it, racists!

And I will even humor you a bit. Lets say Lynch is trouble...Well Dick Jauron is a great coach to play for. His players love him, every one of them. He is a players coach. Not always the best thing, but he won't have a hard time reaching the kids. They won't see him as an authority figure that they have to buck.

Also, Im suprised no one has said anything about AP going to the land of 1000 sex boats. For some reason there is a bias against the Bills. I swear to god if the Colts had Lynch, good on him. The Bills? Hes going to jail.

On June 14, 2006, Lynch was the victim of mistaken identity when unknown assailants shot at his car outside his alma mater, Oakland Technical High School, as he was about to visit his little sister on her graduation day. He was not the intended target of the shooting, and no one was injured. The shooter phoned Lynch's mother to apologize.[7]

On January 25, 2007, Lynch was accused of sexual assault by his former girlfriend. The incident reportedly happened on December 13, 2006, outside the woman's home in Emeryville, California. On January 29, 2007, an Alameda County Deputy District Attorney who specializes in domestic violence cases declined to press charges, citing a lack of evidence and "grave inconsistencies" in the alleged victim's accusations.[8] Lynch was never arrested or charged.

On March 3, 2007, an Alameda County judge threw out a restraining order that Lynch's ex-girlfriend had issued against him, due to the fact that it was obtained improperly.[9]

Lynch has a giant "Mama's Boy" tattoo on his back.[10] Lynch is very close to his mom Delisa who will move to whatever city Lynch plays in.[11]

I was talking more about Meriweather then Lynch, I personally don't care about what Lynch has done because I've never heard him referred to as "thug" (well other then RP) Meriweather got involved in an on the field fight. Granted the stomping was pretty ridiculous but fights do happen in sports - it just so happens that one got ugly. Then he had a gun incident but it was proven to be used in self defense, and the gun was legal and registered.

So what I was trying to say is I don't get why you brought the Patriots draft pick up in this conversation.

Hanso Amore
05-07-2007, 06:37 AM
Im not so much dogging Meriweather as I am using him as an example. Meriweather might not be a jerk, but I would say he has a worse track record than Lynch, and if your going to dog Lynch, you should him to. It was all geared to RP and his ridiculous comments about Lynch.

Is this already in the works? I am figuring you are just asking my opinion about it since I've heard nothing about it...Personally I don't really know, Patriots don't exactly have a long list of retired numbers so I think they should keep it exclusive to players who played the majority of their career with the Patriots (Granted, Bledsoe probably played about 80% of his career in New England, but I'd like to see it more like 95-100% of their career here)

Saints Sign Veteran Punter
Dave Lawrence, NewOrleansSaints.com
May 4, 2007 – 10:45 am

The New Orleans Saints signed veteran free agent punter Chris Hanson (http://neworleanssaints.com/playerbio.cfm?playerid=463) to a one-year contract Friday. The signing was announced by Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis (http://neworleanssaints.com/frontofficebio.cfm?frontofficeid=49).

Hanson, 30, is a six-year NFL veteran, having played 85 of his 86 career games with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The 6-foot-2, 202-pound left-footed punter out of Marshall has never had a punt blocked in his 428 career kicks, averaging 42.9 yards per punt with a net average of 35.9 and a long kick of 74 yards, with 136 of his punts being placed inside the opponents' 20-yard line compared to just 50 touchbacks. The 2002 Pro Bowl selection signed with Jacksonville in 2001 and held down the punting job with the Jaguars for the past six seasons. The Senoia, Ga, native also served as the holder for place-kicks during his tenure in Jacksonville. He has played in all 16 games in five of his six NFL campaigns.
Hanson originally signed out of college with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent and has also spent time on the rosters of the Green Bay Packers and Miami Dolphins, making one appearance for Green Bay as a rookie in 1999.

You know I don't quite understand why people/announcers make mention of the fact a kicker/punter hasn't been blocked in x amount of kicks or whatever. I mean every once in a while they will do a great job of getting the kick off in the face of pressure, but I think thats more kudos to the special teams unit than the kicker/punter. If someone gets through and is going to get ya, they're going to get ya usually.

In other news: I guess Plaxico is attending the "voluntary" offseason workouts. This is good news to me, because for the past few seasons Plaxico has been working out in Florida. I'm curious as to see if this develops better chemistry between Eli and Plax.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2864295

"I'm not trying to make a statement," Burress said Tuesday after catching passes with Manning. "I want us to be better, and I want him to reach his full potential, which I think would be great. I want to help him out. We're here, we're willing to work." - Plaxico Burress

How much do you guys think QB/WR chemistry matters, especially this early in the season? Judging from the past couple of years, I think this can only help in terms of Eli/Plax's relationship.

Jesus Shuttlesworth
05-08-2007, 07:16 PM
Well for punters, it makes sense since it shows they are able to get the kick off quick. At the same time though, you could be the quickest punter ever but you could have one blocked on a fluke or something so I think its just a little cute stat they like to throw out there.

Was a rumor/conversation.

I dunno, I agree with what you said, the flipside is him/parcells put the Pats back on the map... they went from 1/2 filled stadiums to being sold out with a waiting list i think almost double capacity...

I wouldn't mind seeing it happen, I wonder if he'd do it.

last time I checked it was against the law to not hire somone based on previous crimes (of course their are some exceptions) but if you read most job applications it asks about past crimes and explains they can't be held against you, or something like that.

Have you ever been convicted of a crime which is substantially related to the functions or qualifications of the job for which you are applying?  No  Yes (a Conviction record will not necessarily disqualify you from employment).
If yes, explain number of conviction(s), nature of offense(s) leading to conviction(s), how recently such offense(s) was/were committed, sentence(s) imposed and type(s) of rehabilitation.

just pulled that from a job app.

Pittman is gonna be a pretty good pro but I don't see how he is gonna get any carries in that offense? How long is Deuce under contract for? Maybe grooming Pittman to be his replacement

Five years left on his current contract.. I just think Peyton is an offensive fiend.. He wants as many weapons as he can get..

(May 14, 2007) -- Devin Hester (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/412717) is taking his game-breaking skills to the Chicago Bears' (http://www.nfl.com/teams/news/CHI) offense.

Hester set an NFL record last year for kick returns for touchdowns, and he started off the Super Bowl with a 92-yard kickoff runback for a touchdown. He rarely played on anything but special teams, though, and when he did, it was as a cornerback. Now, the Bears will try him as a wide receiver.

Coach Lovie Smith said the All-Pro return specialist will make the switch beginning with the upcoming minicamp.

"I think Devin Hester is one of the most exciting players in the NFL with his hands on the football," Smith told ChicagoBears.com. "I think he would be an excellent defensive back, also. We just feel that this is in the best interest of us and him for him to achieve his full potential as a football player." Smith also expects to use Hester in the backfield at times.

"Right now we're not going to put any limits on it," Smith said. "We have a new piece to the puzzle. We're anxious to see what we can do with him and the role that he'll develop into.
"There are a lot of different ways we can go. You can make a case for him being a slot receiver. You can make a case for him being a single receiver when we go to our two-tight end, two-running back packages. You can make a case for him from the running back position.
"He's an offensive weapon right now. That's the only limit we put on him."

In college for the Miami Hurricanes, Hester played receiver, running back, cornerback and returned kicks. The Bears chose him in the second round of the 2006 draft with the idea he could play either offense or defense, but would see much time on special teams.

He was sensational as a kick returner, with three punts run back for touchdowns and a 12.8-yard average, and two touchdowns and a 26.4-yard average on kickoff returns. Against the Rams, he had two returns for scores, and against the Giants he went 108 yards with a missed field goal.
Hester was not thinking about moving to offense.

"We had several meetings until I just really said that there's no I in team, and however I can help the team I'm willing to do it," Hester said. "It's going to be a great experience. I'm just going to go over there and try to give a little spark to the offense. There will be more opportunities to make big plays and I think it's a great idea."

So does offensive coordinator Ron Turner, who used Hester for only one play on offense last season. He couldn't handle a low pass from Rex Grossman (http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/396159) on that play.

"I've been recruiting him for about 13 months and I finally got him," Turner said. "He's an elite player when he gets the ball in his hands, and I'm excited about the opportunity to help him get the ball in his hands -- not just returning punts and kickoffs, which is a few times a game. Hopefully we can get it in his hands five, six seven times different ways."

Colts aren't gonna do shit.. Your already suspect defense has lost every player that meant something minus Bob Sanders and Dwight Freeny and y'all are trying to franchise Freeny.. lol you dont know Marlon Jackson and Kelvin Heyden. Thats ok. Congrats on front loading an average cornerbacks contract with tons of guaranteed money. Also didnt you or someone else sing this same song when we lost Edge last year? lol

Also, didnt we have huge holes in our defense last year? 175-180 yards a game on the ground we were giving?

Also we'all aint trying to franchise Freeney. We have franchise Freeney and he's gunna get a long term deal before the end of training camp.

Also, lol@ a Saints fan talking about the holes in another teams defense.

You're dumb

Kris P Lettus
05-20-2007, 04:14 PM
Yes y'all had holes in your D last year and still won the SB but yall have gotten rid of alot of players..

Mike Doss, Cato June, Nick Harper, etc etc ..

Also Rhodes, Stokley, Proel, etc etc on Off..

BTW

Dwight Freeney - #93 - Defensive End - 6'1" - 268lbs
News: Colts franchise player Dwight Freeney did not take part in drills Friday.
Impact: Freeney showed up for minicamp but was a healthy scratch. He hopes to be offered a fair long-term contract. While he isn't making a big stink, Freeney only has until July 15 to get something done and is showing his frustration. (Sat. May 19, 2007)

Oh and the Saints "holes" where at CB.. Thanks for the help with that..

Jesus Shuttlesworth
05-20-2007, 10:00 PM
Are you really considering Stokley and Proel as loses? Stokley was hurt almost the entire season and I didn't even know Ricky Proel was still in the NFL. Plus, they picked up a wideout in the first round who fits the Stokley mold anyway

Their D did lose some people but I dunno, it was pretty shitty last year minus the playoffs so I think they are pretty much in the same position as last year (Losing Rhodes will hurt, but Abdi is a lot more ready to carry the full load coming into his 2nd season now)

I think they will be contending for a berth to the Superbowl when all is said and done

RP
05-20-2007, 11:34 PM
all i'm saying is...Colts vs Pats AFC title game again.

Thats all i'm saying right now

Mike Doss was a loss? AS far as depth maybe, but he was injury plagued and was outplayed for his starting role by Bathea ( who's a beast ). Cato June...a loss? Considering we've lost 4 of our best linebackers in 5 years and still won a superbowl despite those losses, i'm not sure what the big deal is there. He couldnt tackle anyways.

Nick Harper was a huge loss cause he's a great CB, but he's also in his 30's and probably not gunna peak any higher then he already has and most likely has 1 or 2 decent years left in him. Not enough to warrant a brand new rich contract.

Stokely was injured all year last year and the year before and Proel didnt even see much playing time last year as it is. Hell i forgot he was on the team.

Losing Rhodes sucks, but Addai will be a probowler this year because of it so its cool.

and your qoute...OMGZOR A PLAYER IN CONTRACT NEGOTIATIONS IS FRUSTRATED ARGHHHH!! Imagine that.

A couple of things I read/saw today:

-Pats resiged Seau for another season at age 38.. Dunno if that's a good move or not, but I guess they're looking for depth and veteran leadership..

-Bengals cut Simmons, that LB that is accused of hitting his girlfriend.. She is saying that she hit herself with her cellphone and the police misunderstood the situation.. My question, if she accidentally hit herself, why where the police even there??

-Suprised NerF or Trips haven't come in here to talk about that young cb/kr that got arrested for assault this past weekend.. He was at a bar, got into a fight, swung on a dude and the dude ducked and he hit a girl in the face.. Can think of his name but he went to the pro bowl as a kick returner..

Seau is a good pick up I think, he is probably coming in again for the least amount of money possible so its a no lose situation really. He played pretty well last season before that freak play broke his forearm in half. This will allow Vrabel to play at the outside spot a lot more which is good. I would have rather seen them pick up a young MLB with their other first round pick so they could mold that player though (instead they traded it) but whatever, just glad to see they grabbed some depth either way.

Steelers Line Coach Makes Racey Email Blunder

(KDKA) PITTSBURGH Veteran Steelers Line Coach Larry Zierlein made a computer age goof.

He inadvertently sent out an email containing pornographic material to some unintended recipients, including names listed on the NFL’s general managers email distribution list, their secretaries and Commissioner Roger Goodell.

The story broke on the Web site ProFootballTalk.com, which reports Zierlein forwarded the email after her received it from Doug Whaley, the Steelers’ personnel coordinator who got it from an outside source, according to our news partners at the Post-Gazette.

Zierlein was unsuccessful in trying to recall the message.

“When you write an email, you have to write it as if everybody’s going to see it, as if it’s like front page on the newspaper,” Jay Armstrong, owner of Computer House Call, said.

His firm specializes in computer training and repair.

The PG reports the Steelers confirmed one of their employees was involved in sending the inappropriate email against both club and league policy.

The PG also quotes a Steelers source as saying the Steelers are not expected to take disciplinary action against the coach.

Well its sad news for everyone really, he was a back up with a long shot to even make the team again but its still terrible obviously. I guess he put a lot of time/money into rebuilding homes after Hurricane Katrina down there, it's too bad such a tragic accident had to happen to a such a nice guy.

Pretty good read about who's overrated/underrated on each team. I hate to say it but I kinda agree with calling Bruschi overrated. Don't get me wrong, he is the man and played a huge role in all the Superbowl victories/playoff victories but he has slowed down a lot...What do you expect though the guy had a stroke. I'd guess this upcoming season will probably be his last, which is too bad since he is one of the greatest Patriots ever but you can't play forever.

Hes going to race a horse for charity. MIKE VICK isn't overrated. Hes underrated. You expect him to be accurate if he passes the ball 20 times. Hes pressured 12 times and sacked 4 and you expect him to pass accurate. Look on You Tube and see some of his good passes. And he can shake you so bad the wind cuts your balls off. And if anybody is underrated its Jerious Norwood. He had two 75 yard + TDs and in the preseason he had like an 80 yard Screen Pass for a TD. Warrick Dunn had one 94 yard TD and thats it. Jerious Norwood should be the starting RB for the Atlanta Falcons.

Mike Vick is overrated, he is not a QB. Mike Vick is an athlete that just happens to get by playing QB. He is never going to go deep into the playoffs or win a Superbowl. Mike Vick can't pass the ball if he was forced to, and if it came down to it he wouldn't be able to. He has shown flashes but isn't consistent.

I don't get why everyone shits on Michael Vick for his playing abilities. Atlanta isn't going to win a Superbowl because they aren't a Superbowl team, not because Michael Vick can't lead them there. I dunno, the Falcons won a playoff game in Green Bay before the Packers sucked and winning a playoff game in the "frozen thundra" actaully ment something. I personally see a lot of other starting QBs in the NFL who Michael Vick is better then yet he constantly gets crapped on because he isn't your traditional drop back passer. I think if you surround him with the right team he'd do work, I really don't see how you can fault the guy when he is throwing to Roddy White, Michael Jenkins and Ashley Lelie.

I've never been a Michael Vick fanboy, and now I'm def not after this whole dog thing but when it comes to on the field play I've always thought he was a pretty decent QB.

I think Norwood will be a good RB in the NFL, but don't ever use pre-season as a judge... it's a scrimmage and thats about it..

As for Vick, he's a great athlete and that allows him to make plays other can't, he has a cannon arm... however he's shown that he has trouble reading defenses...

I've never understood why they don't just go 5-wide all the time, almost run and shoot style... Dan Marino actually talked about this (I forget if it was inside the nfl or a pre-game show).

Go 5-wide and spread the defense and with his ability and arm he should be able to make the easy reads and pick them apart.

Yea but those two 75+ yard TD's were good. MIKE VICK was like the 4th most mobile QB of all time on NFL Network.

1) There's a reason pre-season doesn't count.

2) What did the use as a basis to decide "most mobile"

I'd say Vick is more of a rusher then "being mobile," Steve Young to me is a "mobile" QB but its not like he picked up a lot of his yards rushing.

i dunno, when it comes to rushing with the ball while not as good I'd put Young in the same category as Vick... as a pure running QB, I think the only QB I've been alive to see that is in the same level is Cunningham (you could argue flutie, but he ran because he had to, Vick does it and Cunningham did it because they could).

When I hear "Mobile" I think of a guy who avoids the sack, but doesn't take off...

Vick, Cunnigham, Young, Elway are all guys who could take off and burn a lot of defenses.

probably could have McNabb in their... but we'll see how he comes back from injury.

Saints added alittle depth at DT:

SAINTS SIGN DT KENDRICK CLANCY
by Dave Lawrence, NewOrleansSaints.com

The New Orleans Saints signed free agent defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy (http://www.neworleanssaints.com/playerbio.cfm?playerid=476) to a three-year contract Thursday. The signing of the veteran lineman was announced by Executive Vice President/General Manager Mickey Loomis (http://www.neworleanssaints.com/frontofficebio.cfm?frontofficeid=49).

Clancy, who stands 6-foot-1 and weighs 305 pounds, is entering his eighth NFL season and has played in 80 career games, starting 30. He started 26 games over past two seasons with the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals, respectively. The former Ole Miss standout started all 11 games he played for Arizona in 2006, registering 37 tackles, one sack and a forced fumble.

"We're happy to have Kendrick as a member of the Saints," Loomis said.
"We feel that he will improve our depth at the defensive tackle position. A player of his experience is a welcome addition to our club and we're eager to see him competing on the field."

Clancy has tallied 106 tackles (82 solo) in his career along with three sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and an interception. Clancy entered the league as a third-round pick (72nd overall) of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2000 NFL Draft and spent the first five seasons of his pro career there. The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native has played in five career postseason games as well, notching three tackles.

In other roster news, the club announced they have released rookie long snapper Pat MacDonald, who signed with the Saints as a free agent in April.

Where's he end up? Backup or Starter? Wouldn't be a bad idea for a team like Detroit to spend a few bucks on him and see what he has left.

This is where football differs from Baseball.

Top paid player, gets injured, rushed back and is worse and if they want they can just cut him.

He wants his release. He wants to choose where he goes, he doesn't want a trade.

With the Dolphins escorting him off the field, it makes it more likely they have a trade working and didn't want to risk injury (Wasn't McNair locked out of camp for the same reasons?)

will be interesting to see where he goes and for what.

I don't see Clev or Oakland due to their drafting...

Culpepper got pissed because they wouldn't allow him to take part in certain drills, so he left the field to go to the weight room to work out. I don't really think he is looking to go somewhere to be a back up, I would assume his knee is healthy by now...it's been a while.

It is somewhat similar to the McNair thing except the Titans took it to the extreme and wouldn't even allow McNair to set foot anywhere in the football, nevermind just baring him from practicing.
