Was totally hoping Shae would start talking when the camera panned slowly to her face after Dinklage choked her out.
Would have hit the floor laughing.
Finally gave in and started watching this. Finishing season one now.
Drogo is pretty black metal.
Pretty sure he's gonna get Strong Belwas'd. Definitely would have made Bran's story a lot cooler. But then again, in the books, not a lot was happening with him.. for very long periods of time. As long as they don't give the Belwas treatment to Lady Stoneheart all will be fine.
:'(
So, the Shae-Tywin thing, are we suppose to read it that they got together after all the stuff with Tyrion or are we suppose to work out that Tywin has been fucking with Tyrion from the very beginning like he did with his wife?

Requiem
06-17-2014, 05:34 PM
There are a few possibilities.
One, is that Tywin is a total and complete hypocrite, who scorns his son for whoring while bedding them himself. It shows that he is just like any other man in Westeros - he has desires just like any man, and he shits, just like every other person in Westeros.
The other, is that Varys planned the whole thing. He waited until Tywin went to use the latrine, then put Shae in his bed with the necklace of the hand around her neck, for Tyrion to find. Then he gets Jaime to let him out and lead him past the area in a way that Tyrion would know exactly where he is. This would make it look as if Tywin were a hypocrite and would just look worse after the deed was done. It would also give Tyrion some much needed vengeance because only Varys knows where Tyrion is going, which is obviously far away from here.
There's also the possibility that it was a combination of these of course, Varys planned the whole thing, minus setting Shae up. It could have been Tywin's own hypocrisy that was his undoing here, while Varys at least made the connections so that it could happen under Tyrion's own will.

I read the killing of Shae in the books to be more like straight up murder than self-defense in an attack.

Kind of curious what everyone thought about that scene. I don't remember it very well from the books, but I don't recall it happening with so much flair and 'fantasy' elements. Any book readers care to catch me up on how that scene compares?
I'd almost be inclined to say it was "too far into fantasy" but in a series that's had dragons, giants, ice zombies and shadow monsters I guess it's par for the course.
Just started season 3.
What bugs me the most are those horrible CGI dragons.

I started thinking good god its Skyrim
Got a question about season 4.
Why does Bran feel the need to go beyond The Wall? I mean, is that only cause of that raven he keeps dreaming about and he somehow figures out that raven is trying to lead him there or was there something I missed? It's kinda weird how he didn't even bother trying to find Jon after seeing him outside that tower or mill or whatever that was they were hiding in and didn't follow Sam to the place he'd most likely find Jon, cause he was so hell bent on going north.

Also, the amount of deviation from the books this time round is quite high.
They have to try to make something out of books that are leading to something big. Seems like book 4 and 5 were just waiting for things to happen than stuff actually happening. 1 or 2 seasons of television waiting for something to happen isn't going to cut it when it's only 10 episodes a year.

Kinda thought that about book 4, except for a couple characters that were doing a lot of shit. But Book 5 was a lot of shit happening. I need to reread book 5 honestly, because I forgot some of the things that happened but a friend who has read them all more times than me was reminding me of all these things that happen in it, and I was like 'daaaaaamn' and we were listening to the audiobooks while driving a couple times and I was hearing all this shit I didn't remember. Some big things happen in book 5.

I expected the TV show to go ahead with the story, and I am sure they will too. The deviations to this extent were not expected, which isn't a complaint necessarily. Two versions of the story is cool to have.
I also notice Cercie is starting to drink ALOT shes doing the very things she chided her late husband for interesting.....

Worried about Jonathan Pryce being on the show. If the formula holds true for him. Nice cast pickup regardless.
Starling City better do a head count. They'll find they're missing a cast member. :)
Maybe he wouldn't be if he wasn't always "I made a promise" blah blah blah and just accepted. Stupid cunt.
Anyway, Bronn and the faceless man are currently the best. Though I want that faceless man to finally start killing again instead of being a monk or whatever.
Then again maybe he is Ned's kid as his adherence to honor does border on the RIDICULOUS how different would the entire realm be if Ned wasn't so stupidly committed to his word(but it also probably saved Jons life)
Also I don't see the downside to Stannis offer you'd think stomping the Boltons into the fucking ground would be a sweet sweet deal.

First time I had to look up various "lore" after this episode. Haven't read GOT so when something feels rushed, I assume it's been more fleshed out in the books. Had to look up whatever that "doom" stuff was that they were talking about but stopped there. All I understand about the Stone Men from the books has been revealed in the show....
People with "greyscale" get sick and their skin gets all cracked and "stone like" and they become mindless beasts, and their touch infects others with the disease... and for some reason people send them to go live in the ruins of Valyria instead of killing them.

Last night I watched ep7 and was wondering how Cersei is going to get out of her predicament. It has to be the monster formerly known as "The Mountain". I just hope they don't TMNT 2 Super Shredder him cause that's the feeling I'm getting. Zombie Mountain v.s. Biker Hound w/ Hodor as special guest referee would be tight as hell
Plus, Jaqen H'ghar looks like Chris Kattan dressed up like Michael Bolton

Hot episode tonight... feels like so much happened....
- Hate the F out of Ramsay Bolton... he is by far the top heel on the show right now... want him to get his comeuppance so badly.... Want for someone to beat on his face like Sam got.... speaking of Sam....
- Heck yeah Sam getting some...
- Stannis showing some "emotional vulnerability".... Wonder what he will do.... his wife seems like the more "hardcore" follower of the red faith.... wonder if his wife will kill their daughter for him.... leading for him to snap and destroy everyone....
- Whoa damn, this is happening... Tyrion meets Danearys....
- High Sparrow-Mania running wild on King's Landing.... In a time of war/turmoil all the commoners turning to The Faith to take down the bourgeois.... probably gonna be some guillotining soon....
What about the great part of Queen Margaery no selling delicious venison brought by her nemesis? We've never seen her in a cell like that from what I recall, it was nice to see her stick to her guns. I would have eaten the venison and crotch chopped my enemy, but damn that made me love her more as a character so the next time I'm taken captor I'm going to reenact that scene to a tee

So much drama over this. Have people already forgotten Jaimie legit raping Cersei?
The rape wasn't in the books when the scene was in both the book and the show. This scene had no connection to the books. Just feels like another "Stark must suffer" scene completely added just because.
The rape scene itself was there with "Arya Stark" , they just substituted the characters. The Lannister scene was turned into a rape. Anyway it's old news now.
That was one cold episode

Ramsay only needs 20 men against Stannis and his army? Whoa now, he's not going over with that.
Tyrion sitting with MoD was done great, yet they should cut the crap and start their tag team. He had to bury Jorah and send him out of the city for his own good.
Jon Snow had a little sexual tension with the female wildling and she's a White Wolka now, missed opportunity, the send down to deadXt should do her good though.
Arya and Chris Kattan seem to be gelling into w/e the hell they do.
Cersei drank piss from the floor? I think it was water, but I only saw the woman standing there and figured she just had to pee cause she couldn't get anyone else to cover for her shift

Olly(the kid who is in the Watch after his parents were killed by wildlings) showed disdain for Jon Snow combining stables with the very group of ppl who killed his parents. Gilly(sp?) left the room, but I think she stayed around to hear what this kid had to say, will Olly revenge kill her and young Sam?
Jorah wants the glory of the blood and sand before the stone disease ravages his Khalessi starved body and we may finally see an end to his story by season's end.
Interesting development in Valyrian steel, going to start investing in a sword

Books discussion
I wonder if the show even introduces Young Griff/Aegon Targaryn... they have done a lot of things differently with the entire Mereen storyline (but ended up in pretty much the same point now). I wonder if the show will choose to be more "focused" and just not introduce another Targaryn.
They have left out all the Iron Islands stuff and Quentyn Martell too.
Quentyn didn't really do much other than to show that Prince Doran wasn't really with the Lannisters. Maybe next season they could still bring in Aegon, but just have it be that he's been hiding in Dorne or somewhere else kept by Prince Doran....

He is determined, single-minded ,dry in conversation to the point of being unintentionally funny sometimes.
He is also A 5 star badass who seems unappreciated and overlooked by everyone. His claim to the throne is legit Baratheon line-wise and he has shown that as a leader he is fair (torching unbelievers aside if you can put such a thing aside)

Stannis has always been a horrible dude, killing his little brother with blood magic rather than facing him in battle legit and then bringing about the red wedding / purple wedding which caused a lot of death and suffering for many fan favourites. Shireen was him losing his last shred of humanity and decency, and it was horrible to watch. One of the most gut wrenching deaths in the entire series.

HOLY PLOTHOLES AND HIGH BODY COUNTS, BATMAN!
Stannis had it coming. Didn't know how, but with half his army turning tail, and the Boltons waiting for him, he didn't stand a chance. Obviously, we'll wait until next season to see in Brienne lobbed his head off.
I think Sansa and Theon survived their jump. I'm assuming there's 10 feet of fluffy snow to cushion the landing.
Sand Snakes get the last laugh. War between the Martells and Lannisters is inevitable. No surprise, then again, that was a lousy arc from start to finish.
Tyrion and Varys should go hang a sign on the front gate of Meereen that says "Under New Management".
Those last few minutes.......god damn. I mean, I know Pompeii was a flop at the box office. But that doesn't mean Kit Harrington should get killed for it. Red Witch showing up gives hope. But she lost some credibility for running out on Stannis. Not sure what her game is. The Wildlings will not take this act laying down.

Pretty dumb they didn't tease the Bastard Vs. Bastard showdown as the reason for the Night's Watch attack. The book made it clear that they had no choice but were pained. Stannis also went out with a whimper, if Brienne really killed him it seems way too rushed / convenient.

There's the chance that we'll get swerved and The Night's Watch will continue their disrespect by not burning Jon Snow and toss him over the Wall. The White Walkers will raise him and we'll see the end of the crows for sure. Olly will be impaled on a spike or decimated with a iceball.

The former Deadwood star will have a small but key role
Emmy-winning British actor Ian McShane is joining the cast of Game of Thrones in season 6.
The former Deadwood star’s role is still mysterious. It will be a small role, but it will still be important, Entertainment Weekly reports.
New episodes of Game of Thrones are set to air in the spring. HBO recently said the show would last at least eight seasons, though the showrunners have said they only want to make seven.
