I think Melisandre was the best character this season. I liked the broken down semi-lost faith Red Woman.

Red Woman seasons 1-5 would have put a curse on Davos and Jon Snow for exiling her. Season 6 Red Woman was all like "I understand." Also looked a little regretful for killing Stannis' daughter.

If you remember all the movement that happened in the last couple of episodes of the last season, a "cooldown" where everyone resets under the current circumstances before we get another round of changes/deaths/whatever makes sense.

1st episode is usually "aftermatch/setting the board up" territory. They set a lot of interesting things in motion character-wise; the Jon/Sansa dynamic is really interesting, as is the Sansa/Littlefinger one. Also intrigued by The Hound's ability to "read the flames".

The quick travel is a change that started happening last season (where's varys? Everywhere) and it's.....I dunno....not good, but it's not destroying anything for me for some reason. It should bother me more but with things all heading toward an ending (10 eps left if next season is just 6) you probably just have to start wrapping things up and not getting bogged down in ancillary stuff. Might be frustrating, but it would be much worse if they decided to stretch this out for another 3 full seasons.

- I really, really, hope the writers/creative's grand master plan for Bran is to evolve/devolve him into a emotionless, stoic, person and he ends up just being called The Three-Eyed Raven. It's like his humanity gone. His character was getting good. Now he's like a zombie.

- Staying on Bran. All they gotta do is just shave his head and he's Professor X. He's got the wheelchair, he's got his Cerebro, all he needs is the baldness and he's good to go.

- Dany gets one in the win column. Good idea to make the dragons not totally invincible. Just have the bulletproof belly/chest and make the rest of the body fair game. Unlike Smaug, how was practically a god unless you got that arrow in that one spot without the scale.

- Oh Theon. You cheated death yet again.

- 3 Starks in Winterfell. Hope Jon's on his way home.

Love when some of these characters who we've been following for years get together. If you're going to form a party to go do the crazy mission north of the wall, one that consists of Jon Snow, Tormund, Jorah, The Hound, The Brotherhood and.... MOTHA FUCKING GENDRY, AT LAST!!!! is a hell of a group.
