Nah seriously though I've only seen the play once but I think they must've ruled that he didn't have control of the ball, it looked to me like the ball might've bounced out of his hands when he hit the ground :-\

Nah he had it. They showed it from 4 different angles. He definietly had it. Basically it couldnt be challenged because..

1) They were out of timeouts.

2) there was 2:10 to go when they ran the play and the officials can only replay the play when its under 2 minutes to go in the first and last half. So basically the Saints were screwed in all wholes.

Packers vs. Vikes has to be the best rivalry in the NFL at the moment. It's become the most important two games for the fans of each team of the year and it is always a nail biter (minus the playoffs last year). It sucks that they didn't show the game in my area. Even though my Pack lost, it looked to be one hell of a game.

Nah Colts/Patriots is a much better rivalry now, especially since they've been the 2 best teams in the league for the past couple years.

LOL at the Martz-Rams feud now

Mr. Monday Morning
10-26-2005, 01:11 PM
Martz won't be back for St Louis, I'd say that's pretty certain, even before this argument blew up. They're just trying to find ways to fire him without firing him.

Oh, also, how's this for a point of contention/discussion:

Atlanta will never win the NFC with Michael Vick as quarterback.

The Outlaw
10-26-2005, 03:28 PM
They might this year. No way they will win the Super Bowl though. How has he gotten shittier as a passer? Seriously.

What happened with Martz - Rams? I saw where Martz wouldn't be back because of health issues, but what's the deal with the Rams?

OssMan
10-26-2005, 03:39 PM
Rams will be better without Martz :o

Gonzo
10-26-2005, 08:50 PM
I don't think the Falcons will ever win a Superbowl let alone an NFC Championship with Vick at the helm. Vick is just a guy who runs around playing sandlot type ball, I can't see how teams respect him much as a quarterback.

RP
10-26-2005, 10:42 PM
You have two really good rb's that have combined to be the best in the league. You dont need a 3rd in the backfield with them. They need a passer. Though i will say Michael Vick is the most explosive player in the game. It must be tough to game plan for a QB that can pull the ball down at any moment and run you around for 30+ yards.

I'd take these QB's over him:

Farve
Both Mannings
Brady
Palmer
and Mcnabb

I don't know why everybody has suddenly shit on Daunte. The Twin Cities media keeps talking about trading him to the Cardinals. His passing is still on, its his O-Line thats holding him back. STFU.

Also, I wouldn't take Favre over many QB's at this point, he physically can probably play another two years, but not at the same quality as others.

I dunno, he seems to be doing pretty good considering he has noone to play with. Driver but he's not a #1 receiver. Might as well rename them the Green Bay Favres because he is basically carrying the team. They might not be doing that well, but he has kept them in every game with his arm. Doing a lot better than Daunte and Daunte is in his "prime" I would say. 8 more TDs, 4 less INTs. Get off his nuts already.

Thank you M cubed.

Crimson
10-27-2005, 04:45 PM
In Culpeppers defense, he's lost his top 2 recievers from last year (Moss, Burleson has been injured), and the running game has been inconsistent. But it's a good thing cuz I hate his post td celebration anyhow.

I'm not worried about Teddy Bruschi. The guy is nailz and he seems pretty inteligent so i doubt he would rush back for something stupid like football if he wasnt completely sure he was at no risk of dieing on the field.

Yeah, unlike Reggie Lewis, Bruschi listened to his doctors and got extra opinions, Kraft even sent him to another specialist to get more opinions.

The verdict was, what happened had nothing to do with football, and the chances of something else happening were the same if he played football or walked down the street.

I'm assuming he's been working out all season, otherwise he wouldn't be physically capable and if there's one coach I feel really confident wouldn't use him until he's ready, it's Belicheck.

How much he gets used tonight, who knows... but having him next week for the Colts is huge.

There is no way you can't give Favre props, he just wants to keep winning but the team around him can't do it. I can't believe the Packers didn't make some moves to keep them in contention. They played well though, I see them finishing better then the Vikes.

A lot of those interceptions just seemed like great pickoffs by the Bengals backs. They just made awesome catches, I was shocked at a few of them.

Yeah that was pretty ridiculous. Must be no security there? Dunno. I don't see how you let a fan on the field though. Wish Favre would have pulled a Butkus and beat the fuck out of the guy.

It's really sad that we threw 5 picks and still were in position to win the game. Two or three of the picks were the receiver's fault, one of them was a perfect pass and the receiver didn't even try to catch it. I think we had a few guys from my high school team out there playing. Pretty terrible.

My week 8 thoughts...

People that say Brett Farve has lost his skill and cant play QB anymore and should retire, are fucking stupid. Dont get me wrong. I think he should retire. The Packers wont be a contending team for 5 years maybe more, but Brett Farve has not lost his skill and he's a top 5 QB today. He lost Javon Walker in the first game of the season. Bubba Franks has been injured all year. Ahman Green and Davenport are gone for the season and they are running there 3rd stringer in there. There Oline was brutal from the get go and there defense has been brutal for 3 years now. Brett "Friggin " Farve is the fucking man . Farve still gots his skills . Put Manning or Brady in that situation. They would be as horrible. That team is horrible.

Lets not get started on why the Bengals needed a fan to come take the ball so they could get a breath or two, because Farve was leading a come back. ( Greenbay is one of the worst teams in the league and the Bengals want to be thought of as one of the best. Beating the Packers by a td looks pretty weak.)

Rams wont make the playoffs.

Giants going to the Superbowl.

RP
11-01-2005, 03:15 AM
I think the Colts will run it down there throats all day long. Control the clock. Score about 28 points and holding the Patriots to 10. I think the Colts will make it an endurance test for the Patriots defense. I'm talking 10-12 play drives lasting 8 minutes or so. There gunna where them down and then probably hit them deep with the last touchdown and break there spirits.

Took ya off block this week RP.

As for no excuses, I agree. The Colts have probably the best team they've ever had, the Patriots clearly don't have the same team, many key injuries, but it's football you have to learn to win without people.

Now, if Manning or Brady went down, I'd say yeah, one team had a "reason".

That being said, I'll be rooting for the Pats but I wouldn't bet on them.

How can someone not pick the Colts?

I don't see it being a run game though, With Bruschi back and talk for Seymor coming back, I think the Colts best bet it go deep, strech the DB's, have Wilson trying to run all over the place and send whoever has Starks man-on-deep and pick on him all night long. Then, with a lead and the Pats on their heels you run the ball to control the clock.

How will the field be is always a "issue" in Foxboro. My understanding is Sunday Night their is a MLS playoff game, so I wouldn't expect the field to be great, but the weather has been good so I don't think it will be that bad, but of course expect the home team to look for any advantage possible.

For the Pats to win, run the ball, control the clock and keep Manning off the field, you're not going to win a shoot out with this Colts team.

Either way, the AFC championship is going to go through Indy this year, even with a Pats win, Indy will still most likely have the best record at seasons end giving them homefield for the playoffs which is what a Dome team really needs.

:$ I'm flattered.

I pretty much agree with everything you say, but i honestly think the Patriots will do what everyone else has done this season which is drop 8 back to cover. If you dont and you try to blitz Manning, you are fucked. Same with Brady. I think Brady and Manning are the most adept out of any other QB in the league, at picking up the blitz and making the reads and burning the blitzes constantly. The Pats run defense looks very shakey. indy will run that ball and be patient. I seriously think Edge is the best he's ever been right now. If Steve Smith wasnt tearing it up right now in Carolina, i'd be crying MVP for Edge right now. He's gunna have a huge day on Monday night as long as he doesnt turn the ball over like last year.

I dont expect the Colts to score over 35. I think they will play ball control unless New England allows them to go up top . If New England doesnt drop 8 back Indy will go deep.

I think New England is going to have to play a near perfect game to beat Indianapolis. If they do and they beat Indy. Hats off again , but i dont think Indy is gunna shoot themselves in the foot this year like they have in the past. New England is gunna have to play about 10X better then they are playing right now to beat the Colts.

I had no clue Richard Seymore has been out.

P.s. I think Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney are gunna wreak havoc on Brady. Your Offensive line dont look average.

VonErich Lives
11-02-2005, 12:34 PM
Freeny doesn't worry me. The Pats always run at him, and it causes him to sit on his heels a bit and slows him down.

The only reason I pick the Pats to win, is they always seem to find a way. Brady owns them, Belicheck owns them, etc... etc....

So, till it happens, gotta stick with the Pats. (but I wouldn't put money on it).

Hell, we have lost to kansas (college football mind you) in the past three years purely due to coaching. They simply stop us every time. That is why I could see New England coming up with the upset.

Just out of curiosity I checked the latest line on the Monday game, Pats are 11/10 Colts 10/13 +/-3 respectively. Little surprised the Pats are so short but that could change by gametime.

Yeah, I just saw Colts -3.5 somewhere... kinda suprised, talk about huge respect for the pats history and homfield advantage.

The field will probably be crap (soccer game Sunday night). which is how the pats like it to try and slow down the colts.

Interesting quote from Polian

“There’s a friend of mine who is a Yankee fan,” Polian said, digging right into a Red Sox analogy. “And he likes to tell me that it’s hard for there to be a rivalry when one team wins all the time.”

So what, the Colts are playing better right now. I would say respect in the present should be earned in the present, can't expect to be respected forever for the 3 Superbowls in 4 years thing. They are what, 4-3 I think? Colts are 7-0? The Colts ought to be favored considering their defense is pretty stellar this season, on top of their 7-0 record.

Intresting spread definetly.

I'm not worried about the field VEL. If the colts do what i think they will do, it wont be an issue. I think they are gunna run it down your throats all night and dare teh Pats to stop the run and when they finally do try to stop the run, the Colts will burn them with a big one.

Atleast i hope this will happen.

BTW. No respect for the Colts Defense. I think they're better then New Englands defense right now.

I agree, I think 1/2 the league is better then the Pats defense right now.

Although, Bruschi being back and Vrabel move to Inside looked better last week then what we've had.

Seymore has a sprained MCL, 4-6 weeks, this week will be week #5. I doubt you'll see him rushed back, because the pats most likely will make the playoffs and you want everyone healthy for them.

We'd need this win and then the colts to drop 2 of their last 8, for the home field advantage in the playoffs, looking at the Colts schedule, I don't see it happening. (doesn't mean I wont hope for it).

2) The "keyshaun suspension" send him home for the rest of the year, with pay.

Tuna seems best fit to take a young, talented but out of control receiver and hone his skills and make him a star. He made Keyshawn, he made Glenn, he made Bledsoe, Simms, LT... but give him a guy who's been around long enough that he's tough to coach, like Quincy Carter or Antonio Bryant...?

Terrell Owens is uncoachable. He does not belong on a team. He just needs to get voted to the Pro Bowl and show off. Or, implement a new "Owens rule" in the CBA, allowing certain star players to play on a game-by-game basis, signing one-game contracts with teams, like a mercenary... a WR for hire... long enough to put up stats, but after a few games you KNOW Owens will start whining.

VEL, do you still believe that Owens is less of a cancer than Moss? :?:

Oh and as far as Owens and Moss on the same team? I think it would work. It's easy to figure: They're similar personality types, even though Moss is a team player who likes to have fun, and Owens is a harder-working shitbag who takes the fun out of everything. Maybe Moss would get TO to loosen up; maybe Owens would spurr Moss to work harder. Maybe they would try to show each other up, and I am almost positive they would understand each other, and could adopt an "us against the world" mentality, which if they could have picked up Ricky WIlliams instead of Lamont Jordan, it would have been awesome... but alas, the two of them, IMO, would click much like hte way Rice and Brown did in Oaktown in... 2001?

Yeah, I do. It does look worse for Owens right now, but that's a snap shot at the moment, I'm looking at the 2 players over their career and the fact that when on the field Owens is the better player.

Although, I will say this... I finally saw the "Favre" quote. TO didn't say it, Michael Irvin did, and they asked TO if he agreed, and TO said "yes, he has a better understaning of the QB position".

actually, 4-4 will still probably let the Pats win the division in the AFC east.

Especially where they still have Bills x1, Jets x2, Miami x2. Which allows them to beat up on their Division and have all the tie breakers.

Plus they have New Orleans, KC and Tampa.

Only 2 games after the Colts that worry me are KC and Bills in Buffalo.

Anyway, after watching a lot of Colts breakdowns this morning, I take back my control the ball by running thoughts. I think the Pats go 4 and 5 wide, spread out the defense of Indy like Jacksonville did. Eventually it will force Indy into a dime package which takes Indy's LB's of the field (who have most of their INT's) and leaves smaller DB's to run at.

As for Freeny, he will own the LT (I forget the Pats rookies name) however if you look at pasts games, the Pats always put Grahm over their, or even Dillon to help out which slowed him down, plus Brady is great in the pocket/under pressure.

If it's a close game, I think the Pats will win.
If it's a blowout, Indy wins.

As good as Indy's defense is, I just can't see how a Pats secondary that made Kelly Holcomb look like a Pro-Bowler will stop Manning.

If I'm Manning, I get to the line, look for Starks and go "yep, their's my bitch".

The Vikings really just needed something to calm them down. There was a lot of hype coming into the year, and then when it wasn't working and with the sex cruise and everything, everything seemed to be going wrong. With Brad Johnson, it's like they are starting from scratch with a very capable quarterback, and they have the talent on both sides of the ball to win the NFC North. It's like a big breath of fresh air, and hopefully it holds up.

Giants woot. Nasty nasty catches today. Brandon Lloyd made a ridiculous one, Plaxico, Shockey and Finn made a good catch, and almost another nasty one for a TD. 6-2 baby. MINNY NEXY WEEK

It's time for the tide to shift. MN will ruin the Giants' quick start this time. :'(

No avatar bets for me. Not this year. Not for the past 5, for that matter. No confidence in the queens.

OTOH, OMG NATE BURLESON

Though my NFC pick for the bowl is the Panthers.

Not because Steven Smith is a beast, oh no; this is why:

See, the PANTHERS know how to create a sex scandal. The Vikings... ugh, Bryant McKinnie eating out a prostitute? Disgusting.

I give up. Fuck. FUCKKKKCKCKC

If they keep losing though, they might pick up Bush or Leinart or even the TE from ND (can't remember his name). But what we really need is an O-line. Davis is good, but he's just one man.

This year was supposed to be the year damnit. Such a weak division too. They could have done it. With good draft next year, they might still have a chance. If they don't win the division withen the next two years, I am done with them. Back to permanent Cowboys fan.

Burleson Made litterally the best catch I have ever seen

It was...

Yeah. That's an understatement. I was in awe, and I am the biggest Burleson lover of all time.

Tips it out of the air away from the DB...

Dives to the ground and tips it into the air so it doesn't hit the ground...

Nabs it off the ground at the last second, cradling it to his body so that it doesn't touch...

Oh man, *wipes off pants leg*

No, Burleson's catch had absolutely nothing on Lloyd's catch. That was the best catch I have ever seen, ever. Plaxico's catch was pretty sick too, which I would say Burleson's catch was on par with.

VonErich Lives
11-07-2005, 10:55 AM
yeah, just watched the highlights Lloyd's catch > Burleson's.

One handed control/grab over a tip any day.

As for Tips, I'd take Freemans > Burleson.

That all being said, Burleson catch was a good head up play.

With those sticky gloves, what's a one-handed grab anymore, really?

and Burlsons first "tip" wasn't a "tip" if you watch he was trying to catch it, so if he had just caught it the first time there wouldn't have been a tip catch :p

it was a great play by Burlson, I just think Lloyd's was better, and if I didn't, I'd still want to give you a hard time :p

Gonzo

You want a tip catch? Look for Jason Sehorn's interception against the Eagles way back when. That is a fucking tip catch.

Nah he'll be on the Raiders when the suspension is up.

Nope, Reid announced they have notified the NFL and NFLPA that they're exercising their right to deactivate him for the season.

3 more games w/o pay, and then the rest of the season w/ pay.

The trading deadline is past, they wont cut him they want something in return, so no way he could go to the raiders this year.
