I think a game is worth $1 per hour. So Horizon ill get when the price hits about $40 or so. Played it for about 2hrs. Good game, looking forward to it.

I got the 70usd digit deluxe of it. I can say with confidence that they earned my money as far as I'm concerned. This may be the best designed world for a sandbox game that I've ever seen. It's just so well built. This is one of the very few games ever that I can walk around aimlessly and be perfectly happy doing that. I honestly am nowhere in the story because I keep having those moments like "K going to this new city for the quest now OH LOOK A SQUIRREL!" 6 hours later I'll find myself at a random campground on the side of some mountain like how the hell did I get here.....it's great.

Night in the woods
Was hesitant to buy another "interactive story" game after gone home left me feeling ripped off, but I'm glad I did because this has kept me thoroughly entertained. It's much longer with a lot more to do than gone home. Though I am exploring and talking to everyone each day.
I don't even know how to describe genre of the story. It's got a bit of everything. Comedy, drama, horror, mystery, existensialism. It gets real, it gets deep, and it gets dark, and its executed really well.
Your character is also kind of an asshole. Like not a full on dick, but a socially awkward person who can be selfish and inconsiderate. This makes dialogue options a lot more interesting. So many games these days have the whole "play the way you want" dialogue tree thing, but none of it feels like it means anything. But Night in the woods is like "OK so you don't get to be the white knight paragon in this game. Here's two options that are both awful/ignorant. Time to nut up and be a dick, kid."
And it's more effective than anything in other games with dialogue options. This game made me feel guilty over what I made my cartoon cat person say to her cartoon cat mom. You don't get that from mass effect folks.
So yeah. Great game so far. Hope the payoff is good. Whole bunch of intrigueing plotlines thus far.

I've played through 1-9. Destor is right. 5 is great. Job system is so fantastic. 5 is my favorite, as far as the gameplay is concerned, because every boss, and even a lot of enemies require strategy and management of different jobs, as they all have specific strengths and weaknesses. It was the last game in the series to offer that much dedication to the combat experience, as the series became more about narrative than challenging combat. 6 is actually considered kind of a dud in japan, because for people who played earlier entries, it was a total cakewalk.

Played through Until Dawn, thought it was pretty cool. Not sure how much your decisions actually change what happens but the no do-overs system really adds to the tension. I only got four people out alive, stillness motion sensors are hyper sensitive bullshit.
It's a Heavy Rain / Telltale style horror, if you're into that sort of thing.

KH2 is considered by many to be the top of the mountain for the franchise. Personally I think BBS is the best but they're both stellar. The plot from the hand helds are super important though so def dont just go into KH2 with out playing the between title or you'll lost as fuck
#BROKEN Hasney

Yeah, that's re-chain. I've been told to do it in this order:
KH1
Chain of Memories
KH2
358/2
Coded
Birth By Sleep
358/2 and Re:Coded are on the disc as movies rather than ports, but the DS versions are well reviewed, so I might just pick them up cheap.

Order is wrong...
KH:1
CoM
358/2
KH:2
BBS
Coded
DDD
BBS .02
Back Cover
thats the order they were released. 358/2 is integral to making KH2 make sense. Coded/BBS order woulndt make much of a difference as far as order. BBS is a prequel to the entire franchise.
I reccomend watching the movies on 358/2 and coded. Neither are really worth replaying gameplay wise but the story does matter.

Don't burn yourself out on that first playthrough. When you start to edge towards level 30, just start going after story missions and ignoring the ones that are low level unless they have a specific reward you want. You can catch all those other missions on a later higher level playthrough when the rewards are better and there is more of a challenge to it. When you get through the story and start over, quests and enemies will give you way more experience and it will pick up the pace of your build significantly.

Finished going through the Dark Souls 3 DLC, not sure if it was super hard or just tough because I'm on NG++ and it's new to me. Struggled most with Freide in the first DLC, total three stages of hell. The third stage works more like a Bloodborne boss, which makes it a nightmare to deal with when youre lugging around an Ultra Greatsword. Probably manageable on NG, but much not fun here.
Last boss of the Ringed City was tough at first but not too hard considering he is essentially the final boss of the series. Very cinematic though.
Midir on the other hand is fantastic, I don't know why they can never get dragons right in the main game but always deliver with the DLC. Started out hating it since I was doing chip damage and getting one shotted for ages but getting good enough to take him down was the most satisfying victory since Nameless King.
I picked up Dark Souls 2 Scholars of the First Sin also since I never got the DS2 DLC first time round. This series is not finished with me yet.

I'd give it a solid 8. I've been playing it on PS4 and it would be higher but I'm a graphics/tech whore and it isn't the prettiest game with it being originally designed with Vita in mind. Not ugly by any means, but the graphics are pretty generic in most cases, with a few standout moments here and there. Also didn't really care for a couple of the features, most notably the 'tower defense' missions that occasionally pop up, and a type of related side mission where you have to 'control' dungeons you previously cleared. I'm not even sure they are required, but the game makes you feel like they are.
Story, setting, and gameplay are all there, though. There are a few cliché RPG moments here and there, but at this point I don't even think you can avoid that happening altogether in games. Everything has been done at some point, you know what I mean? I didn't have faith in an isolated island setting being the greatest either, but they proved me wrong with the design and variety of areas (which seem samey at the beginning of the game, but quickly change once you move out of the opening areas). Gameplay is where it is at though. Love the combat. Way better on harder difficulties though as they basically force you to use some of the more nuanced features of the combat that you can get by without for the most part on lower difficulty. Timing and strategy become extremely important when you crank it up. Especially timing.

I'm also a big fan of RPGS that let you jump and have some platforming elements at such. It allows for much more verticality in level design without having to find stairs or a ladder. More of them need to have that feature. I can think of a lot of great RPGs over the years that would have been so much better if you could just freaking jump when running around.

That game was so much better than I expected it to be. I can only imagine how great a GTA campaign would be with that kind of freeform gameplay.
More on point though, the monitoring systems were often the most difficult part of liberating any settlement in that game to me. I found myself basically resolved to failing most of them on the first try just so I could learn where all the monitors were roughly located and plan out a better route for my second attempt.

LOL as soon as I realized I was going to fail one I would just go find a good spot to hide where I could wait it out....the usual result of me getting a 3 star wanted level was blowing up some choppers and going up to 5 really quick lol.

So I got started on Persona 5. I am digging the story and setting very much so far, but God does the whole "tutorial" section at the beginning of the game take for-freaking-EVER. Just give me freedom already, I GET IT.
The only gripes I have is the HUD is a bit intrusive and that annoying border around the screen in dungeons. I get why the border is there but still wish there was an option to turn that shit off. Would be so much better without it and a couple elements of the HUD.
The battle system is fantastic for a turn based RPG too. Like...REALLY fantastic. Favorite one since Lost Odyssey.

LMAO, yeah, I learned that tactic pretty quick too. I'd just avoid the chopper's deadly RRoD target circle and try to tether them to something strong enough to pull them down in flames with.
I do think the AI might be sorta broken in some way as pertains to wanted levels, especially at lv. 1 and 2, as there was several times where I'd "hide" in plain view of the cops from building roofs, some I swear would look dead at me and the timer would just tick away as others looked in my direction and ran around like chickens with their heads cut off, and I'd somehow be in the clear.

Completed Witcher 3 and the two DLCs (at least the main stories).

Installing Dishonoured 2, and should probably be able to play that at some point in the middle of the week.

It would be like playing KH after playing KH2. The story holds up but the gameplay is a step back...wpuld depend on how cheap you could snag it for imo.

I would say its still worth playing in the long run. All The Witcher games are greatness in my book. I've been on board since day 1 though so I don't know what it would be like going back to 2 for the first time after having played 3.

Persona 5 is greatness on so many levels. One of the first mini bosses is basically a mutated severed penis head. It was so glorious and disturbing and just generally wtf hilarious all at the same time.
Wasn't expecting the craziness of all the shit talk in this game either. So crass and over the top and just excellent given the setting. Makes me laugh constantly. Just finished the first dungeon and am currently in the downtime afterwards just going about my daily life. It's weird just doing normal daily activities like this, but I find it weirdly enjoyable. Who would have thought just going to the movies, hitting up the ramen shop, going to the bathhouse and then brewing some coffee before bed would be so fun?

Been playing through FFXII Zodiac Age, it was always my least favourite of the PS1-PS2 era but after XIII and XV I've mellowed on it. I've reached the part where the story just suddenly stops so it's gotten very grindy, the last two times I've replayed on the PS2 I never made it to Archades. There is a double speed option now though which I have admittedly had on 90% of the time.
On the plus side, the monster design on this game has always been top notch, Hunts are still the best part and the Bestiary itself is incredible. They removed the Sky Pirates Den though, loved that gimmick, trophies before trophies was a thing. Having strict job classes seems to work a lot better than the open license board in the original, though I am finding myself massively overpowered as a result.
Hopefully I'll reach the finish this time, although I did pick up a copy of Persona 5 and all this talk is making me want to jump into that.

I would agree with Destor but since you've never finished FFXII I'd say stick it out this time. It's really pretty good in the long run. Not one of my favorites, but definitely one of the better ones in the series. Id probably have it ranked in like 6th place in terms of FF games.

Gonna try to finish the story for MvC: Infinite.
Then stick with some of the games on the SNES Classic until Assassins' Creed Origins comes out. Blow through that and start working on the backlog until next year.

Yeah I wouldn't buy it at this point either if you haven't already. I've had one since launch and I probably regret it more than any console purchase I've ever made, honestly. Even more than the WiiU.
Besides the next generation is likely only a couple years out at the most at this point. Might as well wait for the XboxTwo720X

Zodiac Age is so much easier than the original FFXII, I've been squashing all the elite marks without even changing my Gambits, Quickenings don't use MP so you can do 50-100% damage on most bosses for free. I don't think it will take much longer to finish tbh.

Also I'm focusing more on the confidant levels than the social stats atm. Not ignoring them, but I want those confidant abilities ASAP. Some of them are ridiculous. I got Ryuji maxed already. Was very pleased with what happens when you max a party members confidant rank.

With the combat being the main draw I think the vanilla version is more fun at its core. That said, I do like the job system because you need to use all of your party rather than just having six clones to swap in and I guess you could just not use Quickenings (or limit them to finishing moves) and not buy all the battle lores immediately to give yourself more of a balanced experience.
Fast forward button is also great for traversing, I've only been going at normal speed for bosses, it doesn't speed up the music or dialogue so it's pretty seamless. Finished Great Crystal at around 35 hours and I've been doing hunts, optional espers and sidequests with two characters near maxed on licenses and nobody over level 45. For replaying purposes it definitely provides a more streamlined experience but I kind of regret going all in with double LP accessories early on.

Quickenings were mostly useless I remember, they hardly did much damage. The key to battles in FFXII (haven't played zodiac age) was setting up killer gambits
Ultra Mantis
10-06-2017, 05:25 PM
They do fuckloads of damage in Zodiac Age and you always have it fully charged after touching a crystal, MP use doesn't lower the gauge anymore. I was hitting 5 figures early game once I unlocked the level 3s, you can one shot bosses with one good chain and if you don't you can just switch in the other three characters for another go. I never used them in vanilla because to get a good chain you needed full MP on everyone and then when it finished your MP was usually all gone.
